I'm personally very disappointed with how the doner kebab has developed in Germany. Back in the day, you were treated like a son at the doner kebab shop, but now it's all about profit, profit, and more profit. Because of this, I haven't eaten a doner kebab in 15 months. Two weeks ago, my brother called me and said, "Bro, I stumbled across a doner kebab shop, and you can go there." Since I trust my brother, I set off the day before yesterday and drove the 40 km. There I was, standing in front of the shop with its half-broken sign in a residential area, where you immediately have your preconceived notions. Nevertheless, I went in. As soon as I was inside, I felt like I'd been transported abroad. The sales area is exactly how I like a doner kebab shop to be. No LEDs or pictures of Netflix series here. And a skewer that looks like, "Don't expect too much, eat me and come back, or never come back." I ordered a doner kebab, and my request for more tomatoes and onions was kindly accommodated. I got into the car, unpacked my food, and the aroma of my childhood filled the cabin. The first bite transported me back 30 years to my youth. I kept biting into it, and what can I say? Yes, that was the doner kebab of my childhood, the doner kebab I love, the doner kebab that doesn't just taste like cheapness but also fills me with love. Tears came to my eyes. Not because I'm a foodie, but because all the memories with my parents suddenly flooded back, and I became quite emotional. From the bottom of my heart, I thank my brother, and I also want to thank the owner for letting me experience this. I, for one, will only ever eat a doner kebab here again, and nowhere else. Today I'm picking up my parents and we're going there for dinner. I'm curious to see how they like it. Two people reacted. They haven't eaten a doner kebab in years. Trust me, go buy your doner kebab here.

The best doner kebab in Duisburg, maybe even in North Rhine-Westphalia. The meat is the highlight, very tender and flavorful. Today I tried a dürüm doner.

I treated myself to a quarter of a doner kebab in pita bread today. It was simply wonderful. There was plenty of meat, so you really get that typical doner meat flavor while eating. Just as it should be. The service was also very good. The waiter was attentive to the customer. It was exactly as it should be. In short, I ate a doner kebab like I used to after a long time. The memories came flooding back. It was great. Thank you, and please keep up the good work.

From the moment we arrived until our departure, it was a thoroughly positive experience. The food was excellent, the atmosphere comfortably elegant, and the service top-notch. A restaurant you'll fondly remember.

I love that Mevlana offers takeout but also dines in. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is traditional and beautifully decorated. People with Turkish roots will definitely feel at home here! Not every restaurant is this nicely decorated! Therefore: Highly recommended for a relaxing evening. :)

The food tasted really good, it was my first time here and it was really delicious, I would come again.

The food is very tasty. Service is usually good. I have the following complaints: The ambiance is somewhat cold. The restaurant has an aquarium with often dead fish (see picture). New fish appear on every visit. When asked why the fish change each time, the answer is that they are dying. The staff doesn't seem to care for these fish, yet they still buy new ones every time to keep the aquarium from being empty. It's a shame that the well-being of the creatures isn't considered and that they are treated so carelessly.

Everything was lovely. We'd love to come back with the whole family.

The staff were truly lovely, but the food was a bit underwhelming. The döner portion was huge and had a lot of meat, but the flavor wasn't quite to my liking. My friend who had the meat shish wrap had a wrap that tasted more like a salad wrap. The open ayran (yogurt drink) was a bit too watery. I believe they could become a much better restaurant if they fix some of their shortcomings.

I ordered a lamb dürüm, but unfortunately, only every third bite contained a piece of lamb. Furthermore, the lamb wasn't very tender (I've had much better elsewhere) – max. 5/10. We also ordered doner kebabs, which were quite good overall. The meat was okay, though it took some getting used to. The bread was tasty – 6/10.

Here you'll find real döner meat, not the minced meat imitation you find in so many other places. The quality is top-notch, the meat is served fresh and juicy, and the portions are absolutely fair. The service is also friendly and fast, even when it's busy. You can tell that they've been working here with passion for years. If you want to eat really good, traditional döner in Duisburg, you can't miss Mevlana. Highly recommended!

It's a small shop, but one of the oldest kebab shops in Duisburg. I've been eating my kebab here since 1987. It's handmade and not from a kebab factory. If you want to eat kebab, this is THE place.

As far as kebabs go, this is the only true and best kebab that has existed for decades... The perfect kebab, and the prices are also top-notch for such meat quality 😋 We've been eating here ever since. We kids are over 20 years old.

I moved to Duisburg 5 years ago. Since then, I've tried about 50 kebabs, and 9 out of 10 were rubbish. It really made me doubt this city, especially that something like this still sells for €7-9. This shop... çok güzel. Great meat, stacked and seasoned by hand, no gristle, and just as expensive as all the other junk. I'd pay €9-10 for the kebab, too, but don't tell the owners; I have to keep an eye on my money ;D
