Metzger Imbiss in Mittenwald

We were very disappointed! At first, the waiter seemed to be in a bad mood; unfortunately, there was no sign of Bavarian friendliness here! The Diet Coke we ordered was completely non-carbonated and tasted completely stale. Of course, we immediately informed the waiter. The answer we received was that this was known, and the tap was out of carbonation. So I ordered sparkling mineral water. This time, too, I got still water because of the known problem. Then, to the food: The goulash soup was definitely not freshly cooked. The "butcher's plate" was truly unbearable; the chicken was completely dry, and the meatloaf was cold. The bratwurst was okay. I had a salad with cheese dumplings. The salad was truly a joke. Totally acidic and not fresh. We were disappointed and told the waiter this when paying. His response was that we should tell the chef. No words!

There were four of us, and everyone was disappointed. The goulash soup was from a can. The salad wouldn't have been eaten by even the rabbits. The butcher's plate was a disgrace. The (Fritz) Coke and the water were still carbonated. All in all... never again.

The fries tasted like old grease. I wanted a Coke Zero, but ended up with an undrinkable store-brand Coke. The iced tea wasn't tasty either. The schnitzel was tiny, and the burgers weren't worth the price. We waited half an hour, and only after we asked was an unfriendly waitress able to serve us. After another long wait, other guests who had ordered the same thing got their food earlier, even though they arrived some time after us. Never again and absolutely not recommended!

We had a knuckle of pork with sauerkraut and gravy. The outside of the knuckle was very dry, but the meat itself was fine. If the knuckle has been grilling all day, you can't forget to baste it frequently to prevent it from drying out. That way, if you wanted to, you could have let it go back. I wouldn't have offered it to my guests. But we were also relatively "late," around 8 p.m. Maybe that was the rest of the day, you never know. The sauerkraut was badly overcooked, and I think it came from a can. The gravy had too much of a wine flavor for me personally, but it was okay with the knuckle of pork. The atmosphere was good; we sat outside. I would especially like to praise the incredibly friendly waitress, who seemed to be solely responsible for the entire outdoor area and had everything under control. If it hadn't been for her, I would unfortunately have only been able to give it 1-2 points. Too bad, we probably won't eat there again.

My family and I had the worst experience ever at this place. We were treated like intruders. The welcoming experience wasn’t there. We went to another restaurant 5 minutes from the center of town,amazing welcoming.

In my 25 years in Germany, this is by far the worst restaurant I've ever visited. The service was abysmal—rude, disinterested waiters who made you feel like you were more of a nuisance than welcome. The whole experience was so negative that I can honestly say: I left this place traumatized. It was not only disappointing, but downright unpleasant. In short: I'd rather go hungry than ever set foot in this place again.

I'm from the USA. I went to visit a town in the area where my grandfather was born. I was so excited to discover my roots. The town was very pretty, but the quality of the people was very unpleasant. I wanted to try some traditional food, and we decided to go to this restaurant. I've never felt so insulted. The service was horrible. I would never recommend this restaurant.

That was, hands down, the most disgusting chicken I've ever eaten. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I was leaving that it wasn't from the grill, but from a GN in the display, where it had been sitting for who knows how long. Three employees simply ignored you when you tried to pay and preferred to eat their own food instead (which I absolutely cannot comprehend). Save yourself if you can.

Absolutely not recommended. The waitress had to run the whole place on her own, which might be why she wasn't that friendly. We immediately complained about the cheese dumplings because they were truly inedible! The chicken was okay, but nothing special. We didn't go there again during our vacation.

Avoid at all costs unless you want to feel like a moron. Firstly, it's self service. The only place in the whole strasse that is self service. That in itself should have probably been a warning sign, but my better side told me to give it a try. I speak a little German, and I tried my very best two order two beers, but the angry old woman behind the counter didn't make it easy. Everyone outside was drinking large beers out of stiens so I asked for a 'gros bier' and I pointed to those outside. The little grumpy lady gave me a much smaller beer and when I asked why I didn't get the same as those outside she told me that those were 'mass'. Unperturbed, I then attempted to order food but it was like playing 'Guess who' with the menu as pretty much nothing was available. Being sighed at while handing over the money to pay was a new one on me, so I won't be back and I strongly advise anyone hoping for a nice Bavarian welcome to steer well clear. The place next door was much better.

We brought grilled chicken. Leberkäse, pork knuckles, and chicken are cut on a board with the same knife. The knuckles and chicken are kept warm in the same bowl. This probably explains why the chicken tasted like a pigsty. Inedible.

Neither hamburgers nor cheeseburgers were available, even though there's a sign outside advertising them. The food is somehow completely pre-made, cafeteria-level. It was also served in about five minutes. The juice spritzer for €4 was made with syrup and was simply disgustingly sweet. It had zero refreshing effect. I can't recommend this place; for the same price or a little more, you can get much better food and larger portions here in Mittenwald.

The staff is incredibly unfriendly, and they respond rudely, if they respond at all. In the end, we had to get up and get our own plates; the only thing they offered us was the tables.

I've had better pork knuckle, the sauce was very good, the chicken nuggets with fries were perfectly fine, and the hunter's schnitzel could have been seasoned more, but otherwise it was excellent. The staff was very friendly, and the wait for the food was very short.

The food, gypsy schnitzel and chicken, was absolutely disgusting. We only ate the fries. The walk to the toilet was completely greasy and slippery. It's better to wait longer somewhere else than this.

Typically German food; don't expect anything healthy or vegetarian. The only fish is awful, but Germans eat pork knuckles and sausages. Delicious fried sausages. Prices are acceptable. The place is great, with a garden, always full of people.

In defense of this Bavarian restaurant, I initially saw very low reviews, only a 3.1... We were a little hesitant about whether or not to try it. But... the waitress was super friendly, speaking softly when taking orders, and the food was served quickly. She's always a local, so she doesn't give tourists a sour face. Plus, they even have vegetarian options. I don't understand why it only has a 3.1 rating??? The owner, who runs the back-of-house, isn't talkative, but not aloof. My friends tried their Bavarian food and thought it was just as good as restaurants in the city. The veggie burgers and fries are excellent! And for a restaurant in a tourist area, it's very cheap! If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend this place; I think it's great 👍👍👍👍👍 (except for the fries, which are a bit salty, but go perfectly with the drinks).

The service is terrible and the food is worse!

I had the best pork knuckle. It was in front of me within 5 minutes. Two dumplings of sauerkraut and a pork knuckle. The dumplings and the sauce were fine. The sauerkraut was fine. But the knuckle was the worst, and believe me, I'm not a picky eater. The crust, which I find one of the most delicious parts of the knuckle, was just chewing gum and really inedible. I even told the really friendly waitress about it later. She told me that the chef... well, to put it bluntly, was bad. I would definitely go for the next order next time.

We were there on a Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. A waitress was smoking when we sat down. We asked the people at the next table whether we would be served or whether we would have to get our own food. The menu stated that you could "assemble" your meal at the counter. Since I'm a professional myself, and the shortage of skilled workers in the restaurant industry is evident everywhere, I thought nothing of it and went to the counter. There was no one there except for another waiting customer. The "chef" and another "server" were also smoking. We were finally noticed, and I ordered my food, which made me feel uneasy. Unfortunately, I had to pay at the counter. When I asked about drink service, I was directed to a vending machine. I then expertly carried three plates to the table (how anyone else could have done that is beyond me). The food was abysmally bad. The pork roast was tough, the potato salad was sour and clearly from a bucket. The knuckle of pork was also tough, and the sauerkraut was old and overcooked. Even though I had already paid for the meal, I brought the plates back inside and we left the restaurant without further discussion. Definitely not recommended.

Despite the bad reviews, I got impeccable chicken and fries. Well-seasoned, attentive service. The location is great, but if they work on a few things, like having appropriately dressed service staff, clean tablecloths, and general cleanliness, the reviews would improve.

We liked the food and the atmosphere (it's a shame about the tobacco in the area). Initially, they were very friendly to us, and the service was quick. The problem arose when paying. We ordered a dish without any sides. By mistake, they gave it to us even though the child didn't eat it. At checkout, despite acknowledging their mistake, they said we had to pay for all the sides. They were tactless and unapologetic.

The food is very reasonably priced, and the service was exceptionally friendly and quick, even though they were very busy. The ambiance isn't luxurious, but rather simple, but it was still very nice. Thank you very much, so five stars overall.

The price/performance ratio is top-notch. We had the roast pork with cabbage and dumplings, the butcher's plate, and half a chicken with potato salad. We were very surprised by the quantities. The taste was very good. We'd be happy to come back!

The taste is great. The owner is friendly. I had curry sausage and fries on the first day. The fries were very fresh and delicious. I went there again a few days later and ordered 1/2 Schweinhax’n.

Good food which was brought quickly and friendly staff

It looks Bavarian, which is what attracted us, but unfortunately, behind the facade lies a terrible snack bar. Terrible food, unfriendly service, and the interior looks very "unfinished" in some places. Conclusion: Unfortunately, I don't recommend it, even though the location is quite decent. You don't feel welcome, and after eating, we immediately wanted to leave.

We came here on vacation because the prices were reasonable. The service was quick and friendly, and the chicken and currywurst were impeccable. The quality of the snack bar was simply excellent. Price/performance ratio for the location was very good. The ambiance inside certainly wasn't that nice, but everything outside was perfect. Nice view of the town center. The drinks were also really large, and there wasn't the "0.2-liter rip-off" mentality that's so popular everywhere else these days. Bavarian, honest, and good. There were also a lot of locals here. Another positive was that you got enough ketchup/mayo for your order right away, without having to ask.

Terrible service. Acceptable food at a good price in a central location, but very inadequate service. The wait staff is very unfriendly, responding rudely and with a bad temper. The restrooms are very dirty. I would recommend going to one of the nearby restaurants where the staff were much friendlier.

We were hungry after driving 500km and wanted half a chicken with fries. The chicken was from the day before and had been warmed up on the grill. It was bone dry and smelled terrible. The fries were really soft and soggy. When we told the waitress, she got really grumpy and slammed the change on the table when we paid. Once and never again. Absolutely not recommended. Oh yeah, the toilets there are a disaster.

Good food and beer, reasonable prices. We went there for dinner after a day hiking and it was great. The menu is a bit limited but with enough variety. The service is friendly and fast, and they gladly speak English.

Never eaten a worse knuckle. Rock-hard crust, meat without any significant taste, cabbage ok, dumplings below average in terms of taste and consistency. My wife's soup was decent. I expected more from a butcher's snack bar, but that was the worst meal of our week in Bavaria.

Food from our own butcher's shop, plus a light beer on tap. What more could you want and the landlord and his wife, super nice and hospitable. The whole thing is topped off with hearty Bavarian music. It doesn't always have to be the restaurant. We would like to come back again.

This is the worst establishment in this city. We visited it because there were free seats, but then we understood why. Food was brought to us 2 minutes after ordering. The food was not fresh, the shank was dry, just rubbery. It felt that the schnitzel was not fresh, although the presentation was good. The cola was almost bubble free. The staff is not friendly.

The food is bad, there are many choices on the menu, but only 3 choices are provided, we ordered pork tastes not good. The staff is so unfriendly and inpatient, I don’t know why. The credit card system has problem, but they didn’t tell me in advance, make us a lot of trouble…..

Back after many years, the service is always great, the food is delicious as always.

The food was good and cheap. Even a small change to the dishes was possible without any problems. The drinks (wine and beer) were also very reasonably priced. So no rip-off as is often the case today. The service was very nice and attentive. We'll definitely be back

We had dinner here. The dining room was cold and uncomfortable. Heating cold. Service has room for improvement. That same evening, food in the toilet, diarrhea. Today, a day later, still having intestinal problems from eating. Metzger Imbiss doesn't deserve the name Metzger. Boss rude, should read the etiquette. No greetings, no goodbyes, etc. There is better in Mittenwald. Can't recommend it, rather advise against a visit.

So that was the worst food I've ever eaten, (roast pork with red cabbage and dumplings) red cabbage was totally overcooked and one spice was totally dominant, I guess speculoos wouldn't work at all. You can drink the beer, but the waiter would have to take a closer look at what you want with the beer. A lot of work still needs to be done on the atmosphere. I am not passing on any recommendations!

Tables are not cleared, cards are smeared with mayo. Schnitzel was spoiled but we were expected to pay for it anyway.

Went there because of the Bavarian ambience and brass music. I've never eaten such bad white sausages. Probably made in the microwave. Cold goulash soup. Served after warming up in a totally smeared plate. Locally neglected. Staff unfriendly and overwhelmed. That something like this still exists?

A drama, the whole family sits in the motorhome with construction pain. Everything is getting old, dirty and dusty if you look at the ceiling. The fire door is still not covered after 2 years. The food is cheap but really not recommended.

We wanted to have a snack shortly before the train departure, unfortunately we ended up there. The only positive thing was the speed of the service lady, but I have never seen such white sausages in my life (pale, fried, as if they had been lying there for two weeks Counter) still ate (taste was subterranean, hard, more like a piece of soft shoe sole). Unfortunately I had to stop enjoying the white sausage after the first bite...

Rarely have I sat so badly. Weisswurst was returned, so old and spoiled in color. My burger...salad completely old, bread so hard you could hardly cut it. Currywurst also leaves a lot to be desired. It's been there again and again over the last few years but it's gotten progressively worse. Today is definitely the last time. Too bad

All dishes are tasty and hot. Perfect pork shank - crispy skin, juicy inside. Schnitzel is not too greasy, the fries are crispy, fragrant and aromatic currywurst. Drinks ok. Perfect service. Prices acceptable. Best regards, waitress. See you next time.

Dirty, greasy tables. The food was inedible: sauerkraut overcooked, roast pork pure fat. Chicken dried out. A view of the kitchen and toilet rounded off the picture.

We ate pork schnitzel Viennese style with fries and drank wheat beer and a shandy. We didn't like the schnitzel, but the fries were way too salty in our opinion. Unfortunately we didn't like the shandy either. It was too sweet and tasted artificial.

Very, very tasty in a rustic location. Everything freshly prepared and great service. If you don't want to be served, you can pick up your food right next door at the grill station and pay there too. Nevertheless, consumption on site is possible. All in all great and definitely recommended.

Too early for lunch, so it should be a liver loaf roll on hand. In the snack area I felt more like a nuisance than a customer. The waitress actually just checked us in, no trace of friendliness. But, the Leberkäs was delicious and the roll was fresh, so nothing to complain about for €3.40. The interior of the adjacent restaurant areas didn't necessarily invite you to linger, but we didn't want that either. So for now it's okay for a quick snack, the other reviewers share their other experiences.

Absolutely not recommended. We haven't encountered such unfriendly service in a long time. Overall it gave the impression that you weren't welcome. After we received our stale drinks we were no longer noticed. (Luckily otherwise we would have stupidly ordered food). People next to us also showed off.
