Meral Imbiss in Frankfurt am Main

I saw the video of "Moodi Foodi Berlin" on YouTube. And, well, hygiene is very poor; the way he washes his hands alone is a disaster. Then his "portioning," the amount of meat/fish he puts in the bread, is completely unjustified by the price of €9 and more he charges... That's a real shame. Because the atmosphere and authenticity are great. But the nice man is a bit stingy. I'd rather walk 5 minutes over to TONBUL, pay €10, and at least get something for it. But hey, if you like it. ✌️

Hamsi was very dry, fried too long

Everything was clearly marked. I ordered mackerel. There were seven of us there, and our orders were taken quickly and prepared within minutes. They even gave us extra chips and tea on the house. The owners were really friendly and chatted with us. Everything was great; we'll definitely come again.

A culinary highlight! Our mackerel doner was truly excellent—definitely worth the price. The light dressing and crisp vegetables made the fish stand out. The boat is super cute, and the staff is very friendly.

Very unpleasant owner or employee who swung at me with a Makita hand blower as I rode past on my bike. It was super tight, I rang the bell so people wouldn't be scared when I drove past. The gut feeling of the employee or owner decided that I was going too fast. The only reaction he knows is to threaten people with blows with his handheld fan. Very clever, of course, because then you tend to swerve on your bike. Not so good when it's already tight. An appropriate reaction would perhaps be to draw the city's attention to separating cycle and pedestrian paths on the Main with lines. Very unpleasant encounter and I don't think I'll get any more food here.

One of Frankfurt's 10/10 places

When we plan a bike ride at the weekend, we usually go to Meral’s Imbiss to have lunch. The anchovy kebab is my absolute favorite, my wife loves the baby calamari, but the salad plate is also really great with fresh salad, fried vegetables (aubergine, peppers, zucchini), cheese, börek and the salad dressing is also very tasty. For the kids there are usually homemade chips and a Dürüm kebab. Afterwards you can also have a cup of tea to round it off. Oh yes, the homemade lemonade also tastes very good and is refreshing. The owner is also very concerned about cleanliness and quality. We've been enjoying coming here for years and it's become a real institution for our kids too :-)

One of the best kebabs you can get. Especially the alternatives with fish or calamari. Also nice seats on the boat with a view of the skyline. Music is always good There are now more chairs on the bank. All employees are very friendly. This kebab boat is a must for every visitor

Went there on the first really good sunny day of the year, for the first time ever. Really good choice for a chilled and delicious lunch with mini holiday flair for an hour☀️☀️ Everything has already been written about the food, prices are ok, food is served quickly, drinks are cool, and you can also sit on the boat at the top 🛥 The iconic thing was that you can lie on picnic blankets with small tables and see the Main and the skyline. Conclusion: A little vacation in the middle of the city🏖

We were here for a snack at the public viewing and ate a kebab with sea bream fillet. We enjoyed it very much and the location with the Frankfurt skyline is of course unbeatable, especially in the evening. The only thing is that the price isn't exactly cheap considering the portion, but since it was tasty, it's all good... Definitely something different.

An extraordinary kebab experience in the heart of Frankfurt. You know how excited I was to take the first bite... The seafood kebab was delicious garnished with vegetables, lemon squeeze and crusty bread.

What is being sold is just DISGUSTING. Today we bought food for 75 euros and everything was really inedible and dipped in old fat!!!!!

It's a place to go without expecting too much. Especially for those who care about cleanliness. I can't think of places we haven't seen when even the places that customers see are not this clean. Also, I can't say anything about the greens inside the fish being yellow and rotten. There are wet wipes that every fisherman should have, but there was no room here, which is a big deficiency for a fisherman. The spider webs around also contribute to the atmosphere.

Doner kebab in Frankfurt, but feels like on the Bosphorus! I've been walking by Meral regularly for years, and today I finally got myself a fish kebab. In my opinion, the boat that sells fish kebab in Frankfurt on the banks of the Main has long had legendary status! The fish kebab comes with various options, for example with sea bream, baby calamari or mackerel. Both the kebab with calamari and sea bream were really tasty. Service was friendly and quick, and after 5 p.m., despite the weekend, we were allowed to go onto the ship's deck and make ourselves comfortable at the cozy table in the shade. Truly a sensational experience, and with the fish in the kebab a truly wild and absolutely unique experience!

We had ordered anchovies kebab. The anchovies were pre-fried and served cold. The chips were soggy. The food simply had no taste. Unfortunately, hygiene is also lacking. The waitress had gloves on, took the cash and handed out the food with the same glove. There is a seating area on the deck where you can sit down, but that's not recommended because everything sticks and wobbles. The only thing that was nice was that it was on the Main Promenade.

The chips were very greasy and not good!!! How old was the oil in which they were fried...?

You hardly notice that you are in a snack bar - it almost feels like you are on vacation. I always enjoy coming here and am already looking forward to my next visit. An all-round successful place that impresses both in terms of cuisine and atmosphere. Gladly again!

Anchovy kebab was delicious and the homemade lemonade was refreshing. I also liked the self-service hot spice selection. Overall it was a nice experience. I'd love to come back.

The food is a bit bland and dry, but could use some of the sauces that come with it. The fish is very fatty and was not cooked before serving, but it probably wouldn’t work any other way with so many customers. I didn’t like the bread yet; in my opinion, a baguette would be more convenient to eat and would go better with this dish. The atmosphere is great, they stay open until night, to our surprise 🙃 This is certainly not the same ikmek as in Istanbul, but overall it’s interesting!

Brilliant. Amazing veggie / vegetarisch options. I had the vegetarian döner - it was amazing; full of tasty aubergine, red and green peppers, onions, lettuce, feta, yoghurt amongst others. The fresh lemonade was great. Would highly recommend.

A touch of Bosphorus feeling. The Meral Imbiss is a kebab snack bar that also offers very tasty fish and is housed in a small boat directly on the Main. You can sit on the boat deck to eat or stand in front of it on the quay. The owner is very friendly and happy to advise guests. He is also happy to accommodate any special requests. There is now also a lunch menu there, which costs between 10 euros (e.g. kebab plate with drink) and 12 euros (e.g. calamari plate with drink). All dishes are very tasty and when you eat them on the boat deck with a view over the Main, you feel a little like you are on the Bosphorus. An absolute recommendation for me is to walk along the Main and stop at the Döner Boat Meral.

The food isn't that great, but the location is great

Recently a cell phone accidentally fell into the Main on the jetty between the safety net and the jetty. Because the customer felt sorry for him, Meral contacted us order hunters from Ringjäger and I was allowed to search for it. The phone lay at a depth of around 1.5m for about two days and I was able to retrieve it after a few minutes. The phone worked and still had 43 percent battery left. Afterwards I was allowed to wash on the ship and got a delicious kebab. The flatbread was crispy, the vegetables were freshly cut and the meat was pleasantly seasoned and browned. Unfortunately I'm not from Frankfurt, otherwise I would definitely stop by spontaneously on a regular basis. Meral's heart is in the right place and the kebab tastes great. The idea of ​​the kebab boat is unique and brilliant, I give it five stars. So if you get hungry on the way to the public viewing, you should know Meral's kebab boat, because a fresh kebab is always good :)

Nice idea, there's a problem with the implementation! We had a mackerel kebab and a bag of homemade chips. The chips were cold and partly wobbly. The flatbread didn't seem fresh and the salad was yellowed. There was no sauce & everything smelled like old fat. I don't know if we just had a "bad day" or if that was the usual quality that is offered there. Unfortunately, the taste and quality of the food was subpar. With the best will in the world, I can't make any recommendations here! To us the whole thing seemed more like a “tourist trap”. You can expect something different given the prices. Unfortunately that was nothing. We're definitely not coming back.

The kebab boat is easy to find and a nice place to eat a kebab. The prices are relatively high (e.g. €9 for a doner kebab). However, there is hardly a better atmosphere to eat a kebab than directly on the Main in good weather.

I've eaten here a few times. But today you could look for the meat in the kebab and for €9. I won't eat here again.

The fish kebab isn't exactly cheap at €9 but it's really tasty and you can sit very nicely.

Super tasty fish kebab, especially (but definitely a matter of taste) the anchovy kebab with a really good amount of anchovies. Very friendly service/owner. Tip: order grilled vegetables and sit directly at the Main.

Guided by the many positive recommendations, we as a group wanted to try it out. Since there were 10 of us, we called to find out whether there were vegetarian/vegan alternatives and whether there were free places. Both were affirmed. The selection of alternative dishes was reduced to "potato chips" and the classic kebabs and the price-performance ratio was not particularly good. There is no service. Neither to help, clear away, clean (unfortunately that's what it looked like in the catering area) or for repeat orders. Always get off the ship and go to the sales counter, get in line, etc. It may have just been unfortunate that day, but the 10 of us don't go there anymore.

I looked for the boat in vain on Sunday evening at 9 p.m. after I went there from the Norwestzentrum, unfortunately not so satisfactory.

Habe mir Fisch Brot bestellt, und bißchen mehr Qualität vorgestellt. Service gibt es leider nicht Mann muss selber alles hoch tragen. Ambiente ist klasse İstanbul feeling einfach 🤌

아이젤너 다리 건너 걷다가 생선 케밥집이 있어서 점심겸 저녁을 해결합니다. 생선, 샐러드, 구운 빵, 그리고 생선 튀김 전용 드레싱까지. 9유로인데 먹을만 해요. 가게 옆 캠핑의자에서 마인강 바라보니 더 운치 있고 좋네요.

Top Essen; am Main entspannt genießbar

Was soll ich sagen? Selten so ein freundlichen Inhaber getroffen. Limonade mit einem Schuss Vodka + Die tollen Sardellen im Fladenbrot. Und dann wurde auch noch ein komplettes Fladenbrot geopfert, dass wir die"Babys" seine Enten füttern konnten. Erlebnisgastronomie vom Feinsten.

Ich war wider im Schock der Fisch Döner kostete letzte Jahr 6€ und jetzt kostet der einfach mal 9€ da vergeht mir die Lust euch zu besuchen ist mir zu teuer geworden.

Den Fischdöner kann man sehr empfehlen!!!

On a découvert ce petit bateau sur Main lors de notre visite de frankfurt. La cuisine est très bonne et originale. On a goûté le kebab de calamars, exceptionnel.

Wir waren mit Familie dort und es war einfach wunderschön, tolles Essen und Meral und seine Frau waren super freundlich tolle Gastgeber kann ich nur empfehlen.

Düşünce çok güzel ama işletme şekli ve tarzı fiyasko. Sipariş verirken Türkçe bilmeyen bir arkadaş var ve anlaşamadık. Daha sonra gelen bayana Türkmüsünüz diye sormak zorunda kaldım. Burada Türkçe bilen birisinin olması gerektiğini söylediğin de ise fırça yedim. Ayrıca balık çok önceden pişirilmiş.

Great place to get a quick meal. A nice, quirky spot along the Main, perfect for if you want to sit in the park and eat. I had the calamari kebab and the dressing they put in the sandwich was very tangy, I liked it a lot. Very close to the Museum of Applied Design as well.

9 Euro für einen Sardinen Sandwich ist Ok, aber überbackene unterschiedlich warme Sardinen schmecken leider nicht. Optische lecker, Geschmack und frische vom Fisch 👎👎👎

I forgot the wallet with the cash at the hotel but the owner was so kind and gave me the döner anyway. After a day of trouble, his kindness made my day! I took the vegan option and it was full of nice vegetable😊

Ich muss zugeben, ich habe eine Zeit gebraucht um mich an den Fischdöner zu trauen. Ich konnte mir einfach nicht vorstellen, wie es schmecken sollte. Nach 5 Jahren in Frankfurt hatte ich mich im Frühjahr 2021 aber endlich getraut und mir den Hamsi (mit Sardellen) geholt - und ich wurde sehr positiv überrascht. Die Portionen sind groß und die Sardellen waren unglaublich lecker und knusprig (von den Gräten nicht abschrecken lassen, die kann man mitessen). Und auch der vegetarische und vegane Döner sahen richtig lecker aus und haben meinen Freundinnen sehr gut geschmeckt. Die "Fischdöner" sind nicht ganz günstig, aber sie sind was besonderes und ich bin danach auch richtig satt. Daher ist der Preis für mich auch vollkommen in Ordnung. Und da ich inzwischen schon mehrfach beim "Dönerboot" war und nie enttäuscht wurde, komme ich nächste Saison auf jeden Fall gerne wieder vorbei. Apropos Saison: wer Lust auf die Fischdöner hat, der sollte beachten, dass das "Dönerboot" nur zwischen April und Anfang Oktober am Sachsenhäuser Ufer (Bereich Untermainbrücke) liegt.

Ich gehe öfters zu Merals Dönerboot...und esse immer den Hamsi (frittierte Sardellen im Brot)...unbedingt die scharfe Soße dazu machen, die es "an Land" neben der Durchreiche gibt. Der Arran im Becher schmeckt auch super dazu. Die Zutaten superfrisch, die Bedienung sehr freundlich, Ambiente Hammer, besonders abends.. Schade dass es hier auch sehr schlechte Bewertungen gibt, aber es macht eben jeder seine eigene Erfahrungen....ich bin froh, dass es bei mir bisher nur sehr gute waren.

Hatte eine Reportage über das Boot gesehen und bin deswegen hin. Der Köfte Teller war meine Wahl. Die Frikadellen waren trocken, das Gemüse so ölig das die Chips (4 Stück) aufgeweicht sind. Salat und Dip waren lecker.

Merals Imbiss - besser bekannt als das Dönerboot - ist eine Frankfurter Institution. Die Fischdöner sind Weltklasse und das Efes schmeckt auch aus der Flasche.

Mein persönliches Bermudadreieck ; Essen schlecht, lieblos und überteuert und nebenbei unfreundliche und extrem langsame Bedienung ; Außerdem finde ich es einfach dumm, wenn man sich auf eine Werbung einlässt und Sie dann nicht dementsprechend durchzieht; Wo bleibt die sonst so höfliche Gastlichkeit; Für mich bleibt ein sehr schaler Nachgeschmack und so wird mich das Dönerboot nicht mehr sehen.

2 std nach dem ich dort gegessen habe, hatte ich eine Lebensmittel Vergiftung. Trotz Tabletten habe ich immer noch schmerzen! Das Personal war auch noch total unfreundlich. Das Restaurant steht auch im Barometer und die Coupons wurden nicht angenommen. Nie wieder! Das Gesundheitsamt müsste dieses Restaurant schließen.

Also der Fischdöner war ein Reinfall. Unfrisch, ohne Saucen und kaum Fisch war in dem „Döner“ drin. Zudem akzeptiert der Chef lediglich ein Gutschein aus dem Barometer insgesamt für das Jahr (insgesamt sind drei Gutscheine drin). Dabei war er sehr unfreundlich und genervt . Sorry, aber nie wieder diesen Döner. Zum Glück war es ein toller Tag in Frankfurt, sodass man auf dem Rasen am Main entspannen konnte.

Ob Fisch oder Fleisch hier gibt es hausgemachtes immer Frisch. Börek oder Kartoffel ships sind auch sehr lecker. Wir hatten fisch Döner und köfte In Brot mit Kartoffel chips was wirklich sehr frisch und gut war. Gegessen haben wir auf dem Deck von dem Schiff. Es ist abgedeckt und man kann sich danach auch in ruhe ein Tee gönnen.

Anscheinend hat der Besitzer gewechselt. Angeblich gelten die B❤️MY Gutscheine (noch) nicht. Es ist einfach ein Stück Backfisch mit Panade dein, lieblos, eine Tomatenscheibe und das wars! Für 5€ eher nicht nochmal. War Vlt früher gut.

Meral Imbiss ist wirklich außergewöhnlich. Wo sonst gibt es eine Dönerbude zu Wasser auf dem Main? Direkt ggü den Hochhäusern der City liegt Merals Dönerboot auf der Sachsenhäuser Seite. Man kann auf dem Boot im Schatten sitzen oder sich einen kleinen Klapptisch ausleihen und auf der Wiese essen, fast wie ein Picknick. Gibt hier als Besonderheit den Fischdöner, den ich allerdings noch nicht probiert habe. Der „normale“ Döner ist sehr lecker, wenn auch etwas klein und dann mit 5€ etwas teuer. Aber für den Besonderheitsfaktor kriegt Meral 5 Sterne von mir. Gemein ist es, wenn man am Ufer joggen geht und einem der leckere Dönergeruch in die Nase steigt. Klare Empfehlung!!!

En liten kiosk dom ligger i en liten båt vid kajen. Vi beställde varsin öl och en påse handgjorda, nygjorda potatischips. SÅ prisvärt och gott! Rolig ide att man kunde låna filt och ett litet bord för att picknicka brevid båten, som är alldeles för liten för att erbjuda bordsservering.
