Mensel’s Mühle - Gasthof Neue Mühle in Neukirchen-Vluyn

Wir waren gestern dort und sind wirklich begeistert! Das Essen war super lecker, die Auswahl an Speisen, Getränken und Nachspeisen ist vielfältig und lässt keine Wünsche offen. Der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich – wir wurden regelmäßig gefragt, ob alles passt, aber genau in der richtigen Balance. Besonders schön fanden wir die kleine Geste, dass bei kühlerem Wetter Decken verteilt wurden 😊 Auch das Ambiente ist sehr gemütlich und lädt zum Verweilen ein.

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal bei den neuen Inhabern. Es war alles klasse. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Aber dem Service würde ich eine 10 Sterne Bewertung geben. Super nett und freundlich. Total aufmerksam. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. danke für den schönen Abend.

Sehr schönes Lokal, top Service gerne wieder. Es gab das bekannte Krüstchen mit Bratkartoffeln und Pfefferrahm. Sehr zu empfehlen:) Nachtisch war auch top.

Nie wieder! Es begann mit der Getränkebestellung, ein Getränk von 2falsch….ok kann passieren. Als Vorspeise haben wir das hausgemachte Brot mit Oliven und Aioli bestellt, vom Chef persönlich serviert. Die Oliven wiesen ein 2 cm dicke Schimmelschicht auf. Nach Reklamation bekamen wir statt neue Oliven zweimal Aioli, wollten wir so nicht. Mein Mann trank ein Glas Wein und bestellte danach eine ganze Flasche eines anderen Weines mit 2 Gläsern. Er bekam vom Chef die Flasche Wein ohne Präsentation und ohne Gläser auf den Tisch gestellt. Er schenkte sich dann nach einer Zeit den Wein selber ein in das gebrauchte Glas des vorher getrunkenen Weines. Das zweite Glas bekamen wir dann nach einer ganzen Weile nach zweimaligen Nachfragen. Das nachschenken von Wein beim Gast scheint in dieser Location genausowenig üblich sein wie das erstmalige einschenken. Der Hauptgang meines Mannes, Gnocchi, war in Ordnung. Mein Hauptgang, Sylter Panfisch, war nicht wirklich gut. Sylter Panfisch besteht aus Seelachs, Kabeljau oder Schellfisch, Ich hatte zu 80% Lachs auf meinem Teller. Die Bratkartoffeln waren in Stücke geschnittene Kartoffeln ohne Gewürz und nicht gebraten. Das Spiegelei war verbrannt und das Salatdressing süß. Die Bitte nach Salz und Pfeffer erwies sich als äußerst langwierig, als ich es bekam war mein Essen kalt. Und zum guten Schluss sollten wir auch noch die schimmeligen Oliven bezahlen. Wir sprachen den Chef darauf an und er konnte sich nicht mehr daran erinnern. Erst als ich ihm sagte das er doch persönlich die schimmeligen Oliven serviert hat, erinnerte er sich und nahm sie von der Rechnung. Ganz ehrlich….. ein Degistif oder ein Dessert aufs Haus wäre nach den ganzen Pannen das mindeste gewesen. Aber das hat der Hausherr wohl (noch nicht) nötig. Fazit: Dieses Restaurant ist absolut nicht empfehlenswert und wir werden dort unter dieser Leitung nicht mehr hingehen. So geht man mit Gästen nicht um.

Idyllisch gelegener Gasthof mit großer Terrasse Wir hatten eine Vorspeisenvariation für 2 Personen. Sie war reichlich und frisch zubereitet Der Pannfisch, ebenfalls ganz frisch, wurde mit einer köstlichen Sauce serviert. Der Service war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir können das Restaurant nur empfehlen.

Der erste Besuch für uns nach dem Wechsel und klar waren wir nervös, ob das gut geht. Definitiv! Ich finde es sogar besser als vorher! Mitten im Grünen kann man hier in Ruhe essen, es gibt einen großen Außenbereich, innen viele Tische und sogar einen Raum, den man mieten kann. Parkplätze sind direkt vor der Tür kostenfrei und Fahrräder einen Ständer. Beides beleuchtet. Die Getränkeauswahl ist ausreichend groß und Speisen lecker. Der Chef ist ein hervorragender Gastgeber mit Erfahrung und bringt Ruhe und Professionalität in den Gastraum. Er gibt gute Tipps was zu welchen Speisen zusammen passt. Sehr zu empfehlen ist das Rotkohlsteak (kombiniert mit Ziegenkäse) und zum Nachtisch die Grillage Nockerln. Sündhaft gut - etwas zu viel für mich, aber grenzgenial! Der Küchenchef ist übrigens der bisherige - also alles stabil richtig lecker!

Tolles Restaurant! Wir waren zum zweiten Mal mit der Familie dort und gehen immer mit einem Lächeln raus. Das Essen ist sehr geschmackvoll und die Portionen sind sehr großzügig. Von den Vorspeisen über die Hauptgerichte zu den Nachspeisen gibt es viele Köstlichkeiten. Für jeden etwas dabei. Das Personal ist ebenfalls sehr aufmerksam. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Rezension gilt für Gasthof neue Mühle: Nach dem Inhaberwechsel wollten wir dem Restaurant noch ein letztes Mal eine Chance geben – in der Hoffnung, dass sich sowohl Service als auch Qualität der Speisen verbessert haben. Leider wurden wir enttäuscht. Die Gerichte waren durchaus in Ordnung, jedoch keineswegs herausragend oder besonders erwähnenswert. Wirklich enttäuschend war jedoch erneut der Service. Bereits in der Vergangenheit gab es hier große Defizite, und leider hat sich daran nichts geändert. Nach unserer Ankunft wurden wir einmal nach unseren Getränkewünschen gefragt – das war jedoch auch das einzige Mal an diesem Abend. Im weiteren Verlauf ließ sich der Service bzgl. Getränken nicht mehr blicken. So verbrachten wir den gesamten Abend mit einer einzigen Flasche Wasser, da schlichtweg niemand mehr an unseren Tisch kam. Sehr bedauerlich ist, dass auch der Inhaberwechsel offenbar keine Verbesserung mit sich gebracht hat. Aus diesem Grund werden wir das Restaurant weder weiterempfehlen noch erneut besuchen. Wirklich schade.

Neuer Besitzer bringt den Laden wieder auf Vordermann, Essen ist fantastisch, Service ist super, Besitzer sehr zuvorkommend, Getränke und Essen kamen flott obwohl das Essen sehr frisch zubereitet wurde, Das wird unser neues Stammlokal!!

Das erste Besuch nach dem Wechsel der Besitzer, sehr zu empfehlen! Nicht nur das Essen ist sehr lecker sondern auch der Service ist sehr freundlich, nett und kompetent. Immer wieder gerne. Freuen uns schon darauf draußen zu sitzen und ein gutes Essen zu genießen.

Tja, die Mensels sind weg. Die netten Kellner sind in der gleichen Lokal-Einrichtung geblieben. Die neuen Betreiber haben wir nicht gesehen, dafür gut gegessen. Mein Grillspieß von Mensels wurde übernommen und der Aperol-Spritz ist noch leckerer. Noch ist die Speisekarte sehr überschaubar; es gibt noch Tagesgerichte, die der Keller vorstellt. Die kommende, umfangreichere Karte konnten wir schon einsehen. Es muss sich alles erst einspielen. Geblieben ist auch die Wertschätzung als Gast; hier wird man nicht einfach geduzt. Die Gläser werden auch unten angefasst. Wir finden uns wieder hier ein, denn es hat uns sehr gefallen.

Sehr modernes und gemütliches Restaurant. Selten einen so guten und freundlichen Service erlebt. Das Essen war auch wirklich sehr gut. Die Auswahl begrenzt, was wir nicht schlimm fanden - Beim Essen sollte auch Qualität vor Quantität gehen :) Es war für jeden Geschmack was dabei, wir sind alle satt geworden und hatten einen schönen Abend. Trotz Reservierung einer Geburtstagsfeier mit 17 personen wurde der Termin verschwitzt und keine Info kommuniziert dass es Betriebsferien sind. Wir haben es erst an Ort und Stelle festgestellt. Katastrophe - nie wieder 😕

Haben ein leckeres Essen erhofft, wurden aber enttäuscht. Service war nur 1 Stern Wert - Getränke wurden teilweise vergessen (Obwohl nicht viel los war) - Tisch wurde abgeräumt, obwohl noch nicht alle fertig mit dem Essen waren. Ist für mich ein NoGo Gegessen haben wir Hirschgulasch, welches versalzen war😞 Sauerbraten war auch sehr salzig abgeschmeckt. Schade, weil man das Lokal anders in Erinnerung hat

Wir haben dort am ersten Weihnachtstag gegessen. Die Bedienung war sehr schnell und freundlich. Das Essen wurde schön angerichtet und hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Gerade bei Bratkartoffeln kann man sehr viel falsch machen, diese waren allerdings perfekt. Die Portionen war sehr gut bemessen, so dass man mehr als satt wird. Preis Leistung Verhältnis beim Essen ist aus meiner Sicht sehr gut. Zum Thema Getränke kann ich allerdings nichts sagen, da ich diese jetzt nicht mitbekommen habe. Das einzige was etwas Suboptimal war, dass man bei den Weihnachtstagen je nach Reservierungsanzahl nach zwei Stunden wieder gehen musste. Dafür würde ich jetzt aber kein Punkt abziehen, da man versucht an diesen Tagen so viele Gäste wie möglich glücklich zu stimmen. Also wer dort noch nicht war und was neues ausprobieren möchte, sollte dort mal Speisen gehen.

Ein Restaurant, das man nicht zufällig entdeckt, aber das sich definitiv lohnt! Freundlicher Service, der sich auch in Stoßzeiten Zeit für die Gäste nimmt und aufmerksam um sie kümmert. Sehr gute Qualität der Speisen, was ebenfalls wichtig ist.

Wir haben uns im Restaurant sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Essen war sehr lecker und zudem noch schon angerichtet. Die wechselnde Auswahl an Gerichten macht jeden weiteren Besuch "interessant". Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Exzellentes Essen, nette Bedienung zu einem fairen Preis, etwas zu laut

Wir haben dort unsere Hochzeit mit ca. 60 Personen gefeiert. Es lief alles nach unseren Vorstellungen. Die liebenswürdigen Inhaber haben sich mehr als einmal die Zeit genommen alles mit uns zu besprechen und waren stets für weitere Fragen oder kleine Änderungen offen. Wir haben hier heute als 11-Köpfige Wandergruppe gegessen. Die Tatsache das wir uns um 45 Minuten verspätet haben wir kein Problem. Unser Versuch unsere Verspätung telefonisch durchzugeben war allerdings schwierig. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Portionen vollkommen ausreichend bis üppig. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und einen schönen Nachmittag verbracht.

Geheimtipp! Außerhalb von Kapellen liegt die Neue Mühle, ein erstaunlich großes Restaurant. Die Speisekarte weist vegane und vegetarische Gerichte dezent aus. Toller Service, richtig leckeres Essen und modernes Ambiente kombiniert mit historischen Aufnahmen. Gerne wieder!

Yes, we were invited to a birthday party yesterday...super delicious food.

Today we had three Aperols and one Hugo, each for €6.90 according to the drinks menu, which is actually a fair price. When we checked out, we were charged a full €30. Simply including the tip in the bill is outrageous.

While driving on the highway, we Googled a good non-fast food option and then headed there. It's not far from the highway but quite remote, so we were initially hesitant. We were very pleasantly surprised. Unassumingly located in the countryside, the restaurant offers a very good selection of dishes, some of which are quite sophisticated, with acceptable value for money. From vegan and vegetarian alternatives to classic steaks.

We went to the Volksbank summer festival at the Neue Mühle. Great service, staff always on the ball, very friendly and accommodating. A delicious barbecue buffet with numerous variations. Plus, a fantastic sunset 🌅 What more could you want? We'd love to go back!

We stumbled upon the restaurant by chance and were truly impressed. The restaurant is in a fairly quiet location. There's a large gravel parking lot directly across the street if you're arriving by car. This restaurant definitely offers value for money. The food was really good. Only the service seemed stressed/overwhelmed, even though it wasn't busy. They were friendly nonetheless. This opinion is reflected in several reviews of this restaurant. Still, it's definitely worth a visit.

We've been to the Neue Mühle several times; especially in the summer, it's a nice place to sit, the food has always been good, and the service friendly. Unfortunately, after our last visit, we can no longer confirm either of these things. 1. The atmosphere inside at 6:00 p.m. on weekdays was like a retirement home. Silence. No music. A table of two ate quite silently in the large room. Absolutely no dinner atmosphere. And definitely too empty. 2. The menu seemed neglected; the leaflets were dirty, some were lightly copied, and it seemed carelessly done. Well, there are worse things, but ultimately it fits the overall impression. 3. As a table of three, we ordered one starter for everyone and three main courses. Nevertheless, the starter was completely forgotten. The waitress noticed it at some point after we had already had our main courses. Weak, very weak. As I said, it was hardly busy. If you can't remember four things, work with a notepad. We were offered to bring them later, which we declined. Who likes to eat their starter with/after the main course? The main courses were mixed: The classic tarte flambée was predictable, but significantly overpriced: €17 for a handful of flour, some bacon, half an onion, and a tablespoon of crème fraîche – they didn't just charge four for the cost of the food! The spare ribs were okay, a bit dry around the edges, overall not a highlight. The goat salad was okay, so you can't expect much surprise there. 4. For the forgotten starter, we ordered a dessert: grilled dumplings. The dessert arrived: two dumplings of the aforementioned and a dollop of cream next to them. We thought so. We tried cream, it was sour! Definitely sour. We asked what it was exactly, whether it was cream or perhaps something with lemon or yogurt. The waitress couldn't say, she'd have to ask the chef. No sooner said than done. She came back and said it was beyond comprehension, as the chef had already replaced it. Aha. So the chef doesn't really know what's supposed to be on the plate either? But he just happened to clean the old container (I assume a cream dispenser with a cartridge)? The waitress then probably tasted the cream herself and reported again, "No, the cream isn't sour, it's something else." Another "Aha." No chef with any taste would think of garnishing grillage with cherries with something sour like yogurt. And if they did, they would probably know. The cream was simply "off." It shouldn't happen, but it did. What's absolutely unacceptable, though, is the waitress's reaction. Pretending everything's fine and we just don't like/want it. No apology, nothing. With such an overall experience, I expect, first, a friendly understanding from the waitress, and second, at least a coffee on the house or something similar. By the way, the rest of the dessert was truly one of the worst desserts I've ever eaten. It had nothing to do with grillage. It was a bit of melted ice cream with amaretto cherries, but mostly cheap chopped chocolate, cold and hard, of course. After one spoonful, my entire mouth was full of chopped chocolate...Not tasty! But that's just a side note; tastes may differ. In conclusion, we won't be visiting the Neue Mühle again for a while; there are much better options in the area, given its current performance.

This restaurant pleasantly surprised me. I haven't been here in a long time, but recently I had a very positive experience. My schnitzel was very good, and so was the price. However, the service seemed a bit rushed. The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely, with its old pictures of chapels. It's also a great stopover for a bike ride.

The food was truly delicious and plentiful. The homemade olives were simply superb. The main course was fantastic. The sorbet with sparkling wine was unfortunately just a small ball in a glass... Value for money was okay. The stress was noticeable in the service. There aren't enough parking spaces for the number of tables. Note: 1. If you promise guests small gifts when they leave a review, then you should keep your promise. 2. Service is a service, something you should/must live by. You can do it gladly for the guest. It's not about the guest cooperating. Nor is it something you demand. The owner's comments directed at the guest have no place here. As a guest, I couldn't "think along" or "cooperate." I just want to have a good time. The waitress was just as sparing with comments. Of course, you can't take everything on a gold scale, and if the place is full, we all understand. But as a guest, I'm not a person who takes orders.

This is our third time here and we really like it. A nice and tasty restaurant in a cozy place.

After far too long, we're finally here again today as part of a birthday party for a big birthday. And even after 2 years, still great ambience, excellent service and delicious food! It was a pleasure to be a guest there today! Thank you!

Once and never again Entire pages were missing from the map and it is different from what you get information about online. When asked, the untrained waitress had to ask the kitchen several times. The boss preferred to smoke outside. Paying €15.50 for frozen tarte flambée with 1 slice of torn salmon that was so dry that it almost got stuck in your throat is really a disgrace Just like for a small glass of non-alcoholic white wine, €6.60😳. The prices on the bill were higher than on the menu. E.g. Minni Creme Brüle for €10.90 instead of €8.90 as on the menu. Half-empty cocktails were happily put away, drinks that we didn't order appeared on the bill. 2 slices of bread with soggy olives and strange aioli for €6.90 is also incomprehensible. Overall, it was uncomfortable sitting in a draft. Mill crust, ox cheeks and cod were ok, but who wants that if the rest isn't right. The specially ordered side salads were also more expensive on the bill than on the menu. I have never eaten such expensive frisee salad. Too bad

A very nice, quietly located restaurant with a beer garden in the fields of Neukirchen-Vluyn with very nice staff and great management. The menu is varied and there are always daily specials that are not on the menu. Highly recommended!!!

It was full and therefore very noisy...I found it a bit narrow, menu not much choice and a bit overpriced but tasty Service was ok although I was forgotten with my water but that can happen. Food was delivered quickly. It should be very nice to have a beer garden in the summer. I'll take a look.

We have been here since 2007! Been regulars. Even when the two of them were in the Averdunkshof. In the beginning we went there for dinner once a week and also took business friends there with us. With short interruptions, we always go there at least once a month. In the meantime, the food wasn't always so good if the operator wasn't in the kitchen himself. But then we said it too. Since they have been at the mill, we have been there very regularly and have also recommended the location! Because we liked the two, we also overlooked some things. Be it that they forgot to pack up the rest of the knuckle that still had good meat on it and instead threw it away and a number of other “little things”. But what happened to us on Christmas Day was the last straw. On August 4th, 2024 we had reserved table 6 for 5:30 p.m. and when we arrived it was simply assigned to someone else and they wanted to assign us another table. It was not without reason that we reserved this table and the operators know that too. We have never been treated so ignorantly in any other location. We then decided on another restaurant. If Mensels can afford to do without good guests like us. Please.

We had reserved our table in Mensels Mühle MONTHS ago! This was occupied, even though this table was registered for us! The operators have known us long enough and know that we don't want to sit in the large hall because of the background noise. Simply giving the table to other guests is a disgrace! So we called Germendonks Hof and they still had space. 😍Mensels Mühle won't see us again!! Since 2008! we are regulars! First in the Aberdunkshof, when the two of them started their own business, and now in the mill. Back then, we went out to eat there EVERY week to help and handed out flyers. We also eat there later and now at least once a month. We ALWAYS tip well and ALWAYS order before - main course! We consider ourselves to be good guests who don't sit unnecessarily long and don't have any special requests. We eat, pay, leave. That's not how you treat long-time regulars. It's good that we know enough other good restaurants that appreciate us.

Great food in a nice atmosphere, with friendly, courteous service

Sehr netter Service, leckeres Essen, gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Eine große Portion, ein leckeres Fleisch, ein ausgewähltes Angebot an Speisen und Getränken.

Went there for the first time as a group. Everyone had a variety of dishes and, without exception, everyone enjoyed it very much. New inside. The boss and the entire staff were friendly and really quick. In summer you can also sit outside. Parking directly at the restaurant. A bit bumpy though as there were quite a few potholes. But no matter, everything else was great. It wasn't the last time we were there.
