Since the last renovation, the place has been a complete disaster... there must have been a change in staff/management. Everything was always great before... but for the last few months it's been terrible... long wait times... something's always missing from orders. The food is often cold. It's gone from being the best McDonald's in the area to the worst, unfortunately.

The McDonald's in Elmshorn is modern and clean – so far, so good. The food is what you'd expect from McDonald's. Unfortunately, the service leaves something to be desired: when it's busy, service takes an unusually long time, and polite inquiries are sometimes met with curt or annoyed responses. This is a shame and certainly not in the franchisor's interest – a bit more friendliness and organization would be welcome.

Absolutely awful! I ordered a vegetarian dish and received my wrap with meat, and unknowingly took a bite... Never again! Plus, the staff was extremely unfriendly and showed no understanding whatsoever!

First, three items were missing from our order, then the chicken in my McCrispy was undercooked in one spot, and later I received a vanilla shake instead of a chocolate one. We also had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a McFlurry and the incorrect shake. Terrible service!

Unfortunately, the service isn't even worth a star. The wait times are exorbitantly long, and the food is often delivered incorrectly. We waited over 30 minutes for two simple burgers – that's really unusual. Even in a big city, it's much quicker. Very disappointing!

At 11:30 p.m., I waited over 45 minutes for food. Some of the food was also cold.

Dirty interior, filthy toilets, lukewarm food, and lukewarm ice cream. Poor value for money.

Fewer seats inside. The fries are tasteless and never cooked through; it's better to get the lattice fries. Prices have gotten expensive. And they always forget something when ordering, which is just annoying!

Mostly self-service checkouts. Service is attentive and okay. Burgers and fries taste like cardboard. There were better times in terms of taste.

The food is like any other MC. The only difference is that the wait is always very long during peak dining times.

When I was there with my sister, who was waiting in her car, the place caught fire. Everything was packed: parking lots, the drive-in, and the restaurant itself was full of customers. The staff rotated around, but remained calm and friendly. I found it remarkable!

It's just sad what the "drive-thru" service has become. You often stand in the drive-thru for over 20 minutes and nothing happens. Regardless of the day or time. Then parts of your order are missing, so you get through the drive-thru in half an hour. Unfortunately, it's been like this for a while, and apparently, nothing is being done about it. Better to go to the competition 200 meters away.

This place is a disgrace. We were there yesterday (Saturday, September 13, 2025). After ordering at the terminal and paying with cash at the cash register, we waited almost 30 minutes for four meals and received cold food. According to another customer, our food sat for over 10 minutes before it was served at our table. The best thing was that I got my money back after returning the food. I'd rather not even start on the rest!

September 14, 2025. 2 p.m. I've been waiting for my food for almost two hours. An hour later, I politely ask how it's going. I'm lied to and told that the food will be here soon. I call again after an hour and a half and politely say again that I feel like I'm being made fun of. Because he can tell me if it's taking longer. He hangs up in the middle of the call. I strongly advise against ordering from here. What abysmal staff.

20 minutes wait for 2 simple burgers.

Today we waited a whopping 55 minutes for our food. This happened to us six months ago. This has nothing to do with fast food. When we asked how it could take so long when many people got their food before us, the answer was, they just had a large order. I always thought it was a case of order first. And the last ones to come in get their food after 10 minutes. I don't understand. The customers had to wipe all the tables themselves. It's a real shame, and we'd rather drive a long way back to iz. That was the last time for us.

The car in front of us doesn't order at the McDrive but at the checkout and gets food in front of us. We have to wait for four cheeseburgers and are then given a lukewarm product that isn't properly packaged. The service used to be better.

I just bought two MC Ribs and when I got home, I realized that there was practically no sauce on either burger, and you could search for the rest. That's unacceptable! A burger like that is a disgrace.

Endlessly long wait times (30 minutes in my case) even for the simplest orders. You can see several ready orders lined up at the counter, getting cold, and never being touched by any of the employees. There's a 50/50 chance you'll even get the right food because the employees are hopelessly overwhelmed.

I had an extremely bad experience here. My order took over 72 minutes to arrive – completely unacceptable for a fast-food restaurant. The food was cold, the employees were neither customer-oriented nor helpful, and the entire store appeared dirty and unkempt. I strongly recommend that the franchisor review this location, as this level of service is completely out of line with what one should expect from McDonald's.

An absolute disaster! The staff seemed hopelessly overwhelmed. From ordering to receiving the burgers, we waited 20 minutes. I was there a few days ago. (It's currently 09/01/25) the restrooms were dirty and the locks on the stalls didn't work well or even didn't work at all. The wait was long. We were treated well, but you could hear the waiters yelling at us in the background. Or at least loud arguments. I was traveling with my family, and when we got our food, we didn't have a chance to check that everything was in the bag because we had to get to the station. Once on the train, we noticed that my entire order was missing and they just put some sauces in the bag that I didn't order. My other family members' food was in the bag, though. It was 2 or 3:00 PM at the time, and I last ate at 8:00 PM, and I felt very sick for the rest of the journey, which took about three hours. (I never actually write bad reviews. But it's just annoying when you have to rely on a food delivery service and then everything you ordered for yourself isn't included.)

This place is a disaster!!! The nuggets were very soft and not warm enough. The potato wedges were way too crispy and hard. We waited 30 minutes for our food on a normal Sunday evening!! The employees were very slow and had no idea what they were doing.

I've seen a lot of really nice places, but this place is absolutely the worst. We waited over an hour for our food. When it finally arrived, it was cold. Apparently, there were a lot of people the staff knew there. They were given priority, so it took longer for the rest of the customers. The staff was completely overwhelmed. Trash was piled up everywhere. Garbage cans were overflowing. McDonald's Elmshorn? Never again!!!!

Repeatedly catastrophic wait times. Today: 36 minutes for large fries, 9-piece nuggets, and a small milkshake. What takes three minutes elsewhere or is freshly prepared is a total failure here. Today, at least, the order was correct, but in the past, incorrect and missing ingredients have repeatedly been delivered. Checking the bag when picking up food is now standard practice, and not just for us!

Hello everyone, unfortunately, the service at McDonald's is terrible. You wait over five minutes just for a Coke, even though they're not busy. We ordered something to take home and waited over an hour and a half. They didn't even answer our call.

We had to wait forever. It's more deserving of the name Slow Food. Why there are no longer any order pick-up signs is probably unknown. It's very tiring to constantly have to listen to the noise for when your order is called. The fries weren't even that tasty.

The WORST McDonald's visit ever! After placing our online order in the pickup parking lot, it took OVER 30 MINUTES!!!!! At some point, we thought we'd had enough and went through the drive-thru. There, we were simply "fed off" with a very blunt, uncommunicative attitude!!! And there wasn't even a verbal apology. That would have been the least of it! The only thing they responded to us was "You're welcome and bye!" NEVER AGAIN MCDONALDS ELMSHORN!!!

The burger had to be returned twice because it was cold (it was freshly made, of course, cough). Making coffee means at least 10, preferably 15, minutes of work. The espresso then sits to cool before you start on the milk. Excuse me? No luck. If you're going to have McCes, then not this one. Terribly bad.

We tried the app ordering for the first time in the parking lot. Yes, it was busy, so I wouldn't have even said much about the 30-minute wait (15 minutes should have been plenty for a standard order of a meal and a burger with no special requests), BUT the food arrived cold. Everything was cold. Fries and both burgers. That means the food had been sitting there for a long time before we got it outside. Seriously, just don't offer parking lot delivery.

Definitely not a fast-food restaurant anymore. Gave it another chance and was disappointed again. Over 45 minutes of waiting time, the entire place was completely filthy (and not just today), and the food, unfortunately, was getting worse and worse (almost cold and just slapped into the packaging).

Why doesn't the health department come here??????? Apart from the fact that you now have to wait longer for your meal than in a restaurant, you have to sit at dirty tables and you're not even allowed to use the toilet. I've been waiting for 25 minutes for a cheese and chicken burger, too. Unbelievable. The manager simply brushes off any complaint: "It's just busy." No, it isn't, something's wrong back there.

The food was slightly below average for a mecca... In every other respect, it was truly awful. Overflowing trash cans, a 20-minute wait for food, and no napkins, straws, or cup lids. There's no soap in the bathroom, and with few exceptions, all the seats are dirty.

Aside from the fact that the burgers are carelessly smashed together, the Coke tastes like water with color. Honestly, when I order a Coke, I expect it to taste like Coke. It seems like they intentionally added very little concentrate/syrup here. It's terrible.

On top of that, when we finally got our food, we were still missing napkins and a straw, and when we wanted to go in about 10 minutes later (we were sitting outside), they simply closed the place. Unfortunately, the restaurant has declined significantly. We have now complained in writing to McDonald's Germany several times for over a year because the Happy Metal toy was always missing when we picked up food four times, the wrong sauces were missing twice and two burgers were wrong once.
