McDonald's in Köln

I've been to this McNuggets' drive-thru several times in the last few months – unfortunately, parts of my order are regularly forgotten. Sometimes the fries are missing, sometimes the sauce – today, even an entire 20-pack of Chicken McNuggets wasn't wrapped. It's annoying in the sense that when you get home, you find the fries are missing, or the salad dressing, or one of us, like today, is only supposed to eat three of the sauce instead of 20 McNuggets. Because it happened frequently, and although I called to let them know, I expected at least a sincere apology. No way! After my call, they kindly and politely promised me a replacement, but when I drove back (another 6 km one way and a 15-minute drive), they suddenly didn't want to hear anything more. An employee who introduced himself as "Mr. Hoffmann" and wasn't wearing a McDonald's name tag or uniform insisted that everything was wrapped correctly – as is often the case, there was no receipt. This kind of thing is annoying, time-consuming, and absolutely not good service. I'll probably switch to other branches in the future. My 5 stars from four years ago are no longer appropriate here.

Employees have been deliberately ignoring me for a week. There is a sign next to me saying I'm waiting for my menu, but they look at it and ignore it. What a problem they have too.

Yesterday on site again - service was unfortunately mediocre, employees chatted at the front with several colleagues and known customers instead of taking orders, an employee with a headset served herself in front of the customers, orders were then taken by another employee, when the cash register was occupied again / nothing was occupied in between, drinks order (shake) was wrong type, fries almost unsalted. As is often the case, expensive, bad experience and then only an option when things have to be done quickly.

Since I've been living in Ehrenfeld, i.e. for 5 years, the screens haven't worked. This is extremely frustrating for both staff and guests. New reasons are constantly being given as to why they don't work. The final reason was a change in management. I appeal to the new management to finally establish the screen information.

We ordered 5 ice creams. In one we found a black hair in the ice relatively in the middle. The blonde lady at the checkout I went to to complain actually asked me why I had eaten the ice cream until then. Then she gave me an ice cream that went up to about where I ate it. She didn't say sorry or anything like that. Simply outrageous.

Food was great. Unfortunately the fries holder I ordered was not there, instead a 20 piece nuggets. A bit unfavorable for me as a vegetarian. Unfortunately we only noticed it later because we were in the mDrive. And didn't eat there.

Unfortunately, we can't manage to fill the caramel sauce into the cup with a McFlurry. Everything dirty and sticky, the ice cream not stirred and only 5 Smarties in it... thanks for nothing! (1€ offer also 1€ quality, I understand,) In addition, apple or cherry turnovers are always forgotten, with cheeseburgers "without cucumber" you get extra cucumber or simply no cheeseburger at all! =D It's sad how often they make mistakes there, but of course you can never reach anyone by phone if you want to complain ;) Update from 2025: I was there again and everything was screwed up again... I completely forgot the mayonaise for the fries, the sweet and sour sauce for the nuggets turned into sour cream, the fries were ice cold and weren't even in the same room as the condiments and the cheeseburger was dry and sticky... I would have preferred to throw away the €10 straight away if I could have saved myself the detour to McDonalds!

We rarely go there but the cleanliness of the branch and especially the toilets doesn't change much.

One star is still not enough. We were there on March 14, 2025 to have something to eat. After we ordered, I wanted to use the toilet and found that both doors were locked. I went to the counter and spoke to the employee. I told her that I was chronically ill and needed to go to the toilet urgently. The lady then told me that the toilets were all broken. I pointed out the urgency and she said she didn't know what to do next. I then told her that I urgently needed to go to the toilet and that I would be happy to show her my disabled person's ID card. I didn't get more than a shrug of the shoulders. I then asked why there were no signs on the toilets and it took almost 15 minutes until someone tried to lock them or put a sign on the doors. Apart from the fact that it was dirty there (the trash can in the toilet was full to the brim and everything was under the sink and I'd better not even comment on the tables), as far as I know, a company that offers food and drinks with seating has to offer a free toilet for customers. What we experienced there is beyond words.

This McDonald's really sets new standards - but not in terms of cleanliness. Tables full of graffiti, rubbish lying around and untidy dishes create a very special atmosphere. Sure, many people now think: “Typical McDonald’s!” – but this one takes the experience to a whole new level. I understand that with the central location it's not easy to keep everything sparkling clean, but here you get the feeling that the fight against dirt has long been given up. I would definitely avoid this place with children. It's more suitable for night owls or those who want to quickly tuck into a burger between two beers - although whether that's really a good idea remains questionable.

Actually one star is too many, we ordered 6 cheeseburgers and 2 chicken burgers and we only got 2 cheese and 2 chicken burgers. The employee was extremely unfriendly, he said mistakes are human and can happen - I would then have to pay money to get my missing cheeseburgers. I can't recommend the shed!!

The breakfast recommendation from the staff was very tasty.

We waited 34 minutes for our food. I had to go pick it up and ask, "Where's my food?" You forgot to make dinner.

Ordered a chicken burger and a hamburger, got two cheeseburgers. Don't like cheese so they went in the trash. Even looked in the bag before I left McDonald's to make sure the right things were in it. They really put two cheeseburgers in the packaging of a chicken burger. In addition, of course, half the staff doesn't know hello, thank you, goodbye and speaks less German than an integration course. Thank God I only go to McDonald's once a year.

This restaurant is an absolute disgrace!!! How to deal with customers here. From 10 p.m. onwards, people really go crazy here. Tray trolleys are pushed in front of your face even though you are eating, chairs are dragged above the floor, stacked on top of each other extra loudly and slammed onto tables. Hoping you leave the restaurant. I've never experienced anything so disrespectful. Maybe McDonald's should think about training their employees in dealing with customers!!!! 1 star is already too much here!!!!!

The potatoes were not tasty, we have been coming for several times, they do not change, (they are not so tasty after all) the service is terrible, not clean. In short, I do not recommend it, there are quite a few good Mc'Donalds in Cologne.

One of the worst branches in Cologne / NRW. Burgers dry and loveless. There are often errors in the orders, and requests for improvements are responded to very sloppily. Social hotspot, you should avoid visiting if possible.

I ordered here. The food arrived and everything was completely cold and soggy. In addition, the chicken nuggets were unfortunately not real chicken; I was simply sent the vegan version. The fries were unseasoned, unsalted and cold. The meat in my burger seemed sticky and the lettuce also looked very stale. The drink provided was not chilled, but warm, like fresh from the oven. All in all, unfortunately a very bad experience. I won't come back.

So I understand that it's "just" fast food, but I don't understand why you get a kit for burgers at the drive-in, i.e. if you come by car... I mean, they don't have to be perfectly on top of each other, but the meat and the sauce lying next to the pressed bread is embarrassing. The cheeseburger was a work of art... But it was also cold and sticky... So it probably sat on the display for a little longer. I'm a bit disappointed with this branch because there wasn't that much going on there, which somehow explains the result in my bag.

This is one of the worst McDonalds I know, even outside of Germany! If possible, I would give this minus stars! The cleanliness is mostly okay, but I've actually seen worse. But the food is more than bad! 1. Hardly any sauce on the burgers (on my Mc Rib the sauce was completely missing more than once) 2. Nuggets are usually fried for too long (this happened more than once) 3. EVERY TIME some part of the order is missing (here's how I feel was actually slowly cheating me, as there is ALWAYS at least 1 product under-spent and I therefore have the feeling that this happens on purpose in order to enrich oneself at the end of the day from the products saved) 4. you often don't get anything the products you ordered (this usually happens with the expensive burgers) 5. with every second order of a vegetarian product we received meat! Since the branch is almost right next to our apartment, we unfortunately still picked up something there more often out of convenience and thus gave the restaurant enough chances. But since our complaints are never taken seriously and we don't even receive an apology or anything similar, this is now over. We'll take another trip in the future if we really want to eat something from MCD. If you can avoid it, I really recommend that you don't go there and if you do, be sure to check your order (including unpacking the burger if it's important to you that you get the right one). In summary: this MCD branch is a disgrace. I therefore don't give a single star for food, service and ambience!

Apparently you can pre-order from home. Doesn't work. Despite the 10-minute journey, we still had to wait over 20 minutes. Drive in is faster… fries are cold

The music is quite loud in the morning, which some may find annoying. There is a separate area for parents with small children and the service is always friendly.

Beautiful new McDonald's with unfortunately completely unmotivated employees and absolutely disorganized. The order is ready for pickup and it will take forever to get it. Always check whether the food is still warm!

The uncleanest McDonalds I have ever seen in Germany. We were here yesterday, early evening. All the tables were dirty, so we had to ask the staff to clean a table for us. Our food had long been at the table when a rather reluctant gentleman appeared and wiped over a table. It wasn't really clean afterwards, so we wiped it down before we sat down. But instead of this man cleaning the other tables, he disappeared again after this one table. There was ketchup stuck to the edge of the tray on which we received our food, so much so that my wife smeared it on the sleeve of her jacket. The tray was still damp, so it had to be cleaned somehow beforehand. The floor in the restaurant looked terrible. It also urgently needed to be swept. I found the toilets the worst. I'll save myself a more detailed description of this. The fries were cold, which was only a minor annoyance. We definitely won't come here again.

The cappuccino ordered from MC Cafe came from the fully automatic machine at the counter (not MC Cafe). After a complaint, the portafilter machine was tried by MC Cafe. But I got milk coffee instead of cappuccino. The cake was almost frozen. And you could smell the toilet throughout the entire restaurant. I wouldn't go here again!!!!!

Bad store stuck, can't manage to make a simple order, have to look at it again every time and they always have at least one thing wrong or not there

I ordered a veggie burger and got some kind of fish burger. When I pointed this out to the staff, they claimed that it was the veggie burger and that such mistakes couldn't happen. But the burger looked completely different. The patty was square and also tasted like fish. When I complained again about the eaten burger, the boss meekly withdrew and sent an employee to bring me a new burger, even though I told him that I didn't want any more. An apology was never made.

It's the worst McDonald's branch in Cologne. The burgers and the fries are always UNFRESH. Even though I'm from Ehrenfeld, I drive further away to eat McDonald's!!! And it's been that way for over a year and nothing has changed very disappointed with the branch the branch would have to be closed 👎👎👎

Inedible food and undisciplined staff. I've been eating here since I was a child and what I've experienced is that this place has been run down. Food is not heated and you get food poisoning. Floor and equipment unhygienic and always disorganized. It's a shame, but finally learn to enjoy work or stop working. EDIT: Bought nuggets there again purely out of emergency, again cold, soggy, loose in the bag, simply not up to the food standard, as no fresh food is prepared here.

Ordered a chocolate milkshake in the drive today...it was super watery and had a strange aftertaste, I didn't drink it. In addition, the cup was filled to well under 0.4L, even though there was supposed to be 0.4L in it. Unfortunately I only saw/tasted it when we were too far away... outrageous!

I find it very unclean here overall. The tables are all sticky, no table is really clean. When someone cleans the tables, it is with a rag that is completely dirty, I have seen it several times. I don't even want to talk about the toilet.

Great McDonald's, very nice manager and staff would be happy to come back

The place is ok. However, I will probably only go to McDonald's in exceptional cases as I am very sensitive to the meat. There is often cartilage in the meat, which I then have to spit out. So I only ate Filet-o-Fish. Unfortunately, austerity measures have also been introduced. The fish fillet no longer tastes good at all and it has also become smaller. Even my cat didn't want to eat the rest, which I carefully separated from the breading with a fork. When you order food to the table, it is simply put there in a way that you don't even do with a dog.

McDonald's, what can you write about it?

Ordered via machine. The whole process went very quickly, including taking my order with me. Although the store was pretty full.

On October 19th, 2023, we were at MC Drive at 7 p.m. and ordered, among other things, TWO Chrunchy Chicken for €10.98 When we got home there was only ONE in the bag! OUTRAGEOUS! If you can't call, no one will answer and if you go there again, you'll be brushed off! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MC Donalds!!!!!

Hey, guys, I definitely have to tell you something - but this time it's nothing nice! 😤 Today I went to McDonald's with the kids, and let me tell you, it was a complete disaster! 🤢 The store was so dirty that I thought I had ended up in a trash can! 😱 The floor, oh my goodness, everything sticks there so you're almost stuck! 😫 We sat down anyway because the kids were hungry and I thought, well, it'll be okay. But what came next was just disgusting. The burger I ordered was completely soggy and cold - as if it had been lying around for hours. 🍔🤮 And the fries, which are supposed to always be crispy, were soggy and tasted like old fat. You'll really lose your appetite! But the absolute highlight was the condition of the toilet! 😤 I'm telling you, it was like a bad horror movie. Dirt everywhere, paper on the floor and a smell that brought tears to your eyes. 🤢 How are you supposed to leave your kids there with a clear conscience? Venloer Straße McDonald's, you really managed to ruin my appetite! 🤮👎

Cruel experience. Ordered 2 Big Tasty. Both burgers definitely sat around for longer than 10 minutes. The meat tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave after the burger had been sitting for too long. You can just taste it on the meat if it has been sitting for a while. Side dishes were missing from a big tasty. It was simply inedible. My stomach grumbled afterwards. The toilets are as dirty as train station toilets. What are these conditions here?

I had an extremely disappointing experience at McDonald's today. My order wasn't ready for 30 minutes and when I finally received it the food was cold. The staff work very slowly and disorganized - no one knows what everyone else is doing and customers at the checkout are ignored. Waiting 20 minutes for 2 burgers and 1 fries is tough. It often happens that all the dishes are cold and/or something is missing. Since the new manager has been working there, the store has been going down the drain.

I've never experienced anything like that. Easily 70% of the order was assembled incorrectly. With the Hamburger Royal cheese a middle bread from the Big Mac instead of one base, with the McChicken two bases and no lid, cheeseburger without cheese, McDouble without pickles and and and and. My colleague Grade seems to have managed McNuggets. Absolutely incomprehensible how something like this could happen. It's just more than bad when you take the food with you and only discover this misery when you get home. Absolute waste of money!

For me the second best McDonalds in Cologne, unfortunately it was a bit littered on several visits, loud and one or two employees were visibly annoyed that they had to work 😅 But very child-friendly and also nice.

Extremely rude manager throws guests out even though they are eating and they have only spent a minute in McDonald's. They ate and the manager kicked them out saying they didn't order and just wanted to go in because of the rain, which isn't true. That was very rude and I will remember that

Cleaner makes a fool of you when you go to the toilet, talks to the whole store about TIP and also claims it's her hourly wage. She also cheekily sticks her tongue out at the answer that going to the toilet is a basic right and you can't charge money for it. Employees didn't intervene, even though we had a meal for €12 and the toilets were clogged and smelly. Eating also regularly causes stomach pain

The burgers were all OK. The food was needed quickly. Unfortunately not all tables were clean. The McDonald's is very busy. I can recommend him without reservation.

Ordered from McDrive 4 times in a row, something was always missing, from fries to burgers, after a written complaint a standard apology comes from the robot. Usually ice cold, dry or dripping with sauce. Definitely never again. The missing products were also not replaced.

The music inside is so unnecessarily loud, you can't even hold a conversation. Otherwise everything is fine.

Quality of the food depends on how much is sold. It doesn't help that the food is only prepared after ordering. Then there are lukewarm Labrige fries with cold citizens.

Maximum disrespectful service at 7:10 when no one was inside! We were the only ones there! We waited 20 minutes for our order and were treated in an anti-social manner by, and I quote, “the manager who can decide”!!! And that only because we weren't 2 meters away from the counter. Very antisocial. Honestly, people like that should be fired!!!

Ordered here again with the app. It was super easy and the order came to the table very quickly. It's a bit loud here because of the music, but it's still pleasant. The nuggets were a little done and the big röstie only had a single cranberry.

McDonald's employees were misogynistic and extremely rude, the coupon campaign didn't work at the counters, I asked the staff and was immediately reprimanded, saying that it was another women's problem and something like that. My friend (male) had no problems with the coupons and was able to redeem them, hence my normal friendly query. I sent my client forward again and the tone of the employees was different. Then I went to Burger King because that really wasn't possible. Impossible! I have never experienced anything like it.

Very unfriendly staff, most of them don't understand German. At the HappyMeal, people always forget the gift or sometimes the sauces. Unfortunately, hygiene is a foreign word for them, the toilets are constantly dirty so you have to be afraid of catching something. I definitely won't eat here again.
