McDonald's in Bochum

Today I had a very bad experience at the McDonald's branch at Alte Wittener Str. 38, Bochum. I wanted to redeem five breakfast vouchers from the McDonald's competition. My order was correct, and I also received the receipt for all five meals – but I actually only got three breakfasts. After waiting 40 minutes and asking several times, I was suddenly told that only one voucher per day could be redeemed per customer. This rule was never stated or mentioned before. During my conversation with the branch manager, he was very rude and showed a clear lack of respect for the customer. It's a shame – this branch really disappointed me. I hope McDonald's customer service takes a close look at this issue and responds accordingly.

Half of my order was missing. When I pointed this out, the girls behind the counter laughed and giggled instead of correcting the mistake. The taller one, in particular, was rude and condescending, which made the entire experience even worse.

I ordered a burger without sauce today. I picked it up at the McDrive. I quickly opened it at home. The burger came with sauce. It couldn't be any dumber.

Everything was great, as always. Despite the rush on Sunday evening, we had our meal in record time. Kudos to the team!

By far the worst McDonald's in Bochum

Worst experience of my life. A coworker peed his pants in front of me. Also, I got a pubic hair in the mayonnaise. And the meat wasn't halal.

It's just a McDonald's... but I find it cheeky that they don't give us straws at the McDrive. When we asked, a lady told us they didn't give us straws, even though the person in front of us was simply given one without asking. Maybe they should sort out what's going on and not flip a coin...

I ate there and have never seen such round and good burgers. The fries were very crispy and well seasoned, not like in other branches labrick and with little salt. But no, super good👍

Extremely poorly managed branch, I received cold burgers every time I visited three times

The restaurant was clean. The first terminal I tried to order at was broken, and no one was available to assist me. I changed terminals, placed my order, and received my food after about seven minutes (takeout; I was on my way home from a bike ride). At home, I opened my order, a Big Vegan TS, and in the box marked "Big Vegan TS" was a cheeseburger. Not only was my order incorrect (which is unfortunate and silly enough for me as a vegan), but what I received instead was significantly less than what I paid for. I feel completely cheated; this was my first McDonald's visit in five years and definitely my last.

Not exactly the best McDonald's. This time, it was noticeable: the fries were soggy with hardly any salt, the burger was OK, the order was processed quickly, but I had to pay at the cash register because the technology on the ordering terminal wasn't working. PS: Amex payments aren't possible here, even though there's an Amex/McDonald's promotion going on. Other nearby branches are no problem with this payment method. Generally, it's a two-story building, but the upper floor was closed on my last visits. I visit one of the chain's restaurants about once or twice a month. Usually spontaneously, but at the moment, I'd say the Harpen branch is the benchmark in Bochum. It's just not the same level everywhere, even though the basics are the same everywhere.

The slowest order terminals I've ever experienced. On my first visit, I thought they might be having a bad day, but this time, too, it was a real pain to operate them. The screen where you were supposed to see your order history only showed the start screen. The traffic flow in the parking lot isn't very good either. The rest of the service was okay.

There is always something missing, what a pity

I was at the drive-thru today and, as I often do, ordered an iced coffee shake. I'm usually very satisfied with this drink, but this time I was truly disappointed. Even as it was being prepared, which I watched through the order window, I wondered if the shake was being made correctly—it just didn't look the way it usually does. Unfortunately, when I tried it, my impression was confirmed: The shake didn't taste anything like it normally does. The shake was so bitter that I could barely drink it—it tasted more like alcohol than iced coffee. It was truly a far cry from what I'm used to. This one, unfortunately, is now going in the trash, too; a waste of money. Additionally, the cup I used was completely unsuitable. It was completely soggy after just a short time and practically fell apart. That shouldn't happen with a cold drink.

We were just passing through. The food was standard, but the restrooms were EXTREMELY dirty. It wasn't "this place was last cleaned an hour ago," but rather, "no one had been in here for several hours." I assume it's because they were understaffed and had no way to clean the restrooms. Management needs to address this.

It's outrageous that you get less than half in your sundae because the restaurant wants to save money, I was told by the staff

I don't know if I'm the first to notice, but for some time now, the ice cream sundaes have only been half-filled. On top of that, the service is getting worse and worse, and they're constantly understaffed. If you bring up the issue, you're just met with a rude response. The quality of the burgers isn't what it used to be. The meat is constantly burnt and old. The fries are overly salty and cold. Cleanliness is also a low priority. The restroom is an absolute disaster, so much so that you have to fear catching diseases. Apparently, the boss is overwhelmed with his job and should get some more training himself.

It's in a nice place and especially the fries are delicious...

Food/order came quickly and was as you would expect from McDonald's.

McSundae original. The cup wasn't even half full and it cost €2. It's really a disgrace. Never seen less in a McSundae! Never again!

Simply impossible! Was there and ordered a Happy Meal + an extra burger. The food was cold, the branch was dirty and extremely loud. So after 25 minutes my number was finally called and the toy was also missing. When I asked kindly if I could get it (after all, I paid for it), I would hiss at me that it was only for children, until the store manager finally threw the toy at me quite angrily (yes, literally threw it). This store is really the last one 🤬 It's a shame that you can't give zero stars!

Everything is a bit dingy, ordering terminals hardly or not at all respond and don't even get me started on the app... There is no table service here either and in the drive thru you will be insulted by an unfriendly aunt... Then it's better to drive a little further to Harpen and eat in a really good McDonald's.

Your app is the biggest scam! You can't always open the coupons in McDonalds! You drive off the premises and boom it opens! Biggest fool! And the employees don't help! Then go to Burger King

We were there today and ordered food to take away. When we got home I noticed something was missing again and this isn't the first time that they save a lot of money if they do this often with their customers

Everything is very dirty!!! :( Tables, floors, toilet, no matter where you look, everything is dirty! Sign on the upper floor closed - no more space downstairs, suddenly people go upstairs, I ask the staff. Answer: The sign is always there, just go up and ignore it, great for that. Waited 5 minutes downstairs for a free space. Once at the top, tables full of rubbish, nothing cleared - floors, tables also extremely dirty! Sorry, that's not possible! In addition, the food was only slightly warm overall! Staff not very professional and hardly motivated.

I always visit this McDonald's when I decide to eat there and I have to say that the McDonald's is one of the cleanest in the area. The toilets are really clean and everything is always refilled. The staff is super friendly and helpful. If you see it far too rarely, of course it also depends on the location. But would recommend McDonald's to everyone when it comes to fast food!

What really upsets me is the mess when picking up the order. Your number is in the field “being prepared” and then it appears in the field “ready for pickup” and you get to the counter, you won’t be noticed at first. When you ask, you get a stupid answer, yes, if you wait another 10 minutes, one of the employees shouts your waiting number throughout the store. When you ask why such a system is not being used properly, you either get a rude answer or no answer at all. I find it impossible!!!

So the food was great but... the cleaning lady was pretty unfriendly and shouted a lot and the receipts from other customers and the terminal were also empty and I reported that to the cashier and no one was interested so I think it's a shame I won't be coming back...

I ordered something from them on Saturday. The order was made incorrectly, my extra requests, especially without cucumbers and tomatoes, were not taken into account. When I noticed this at home, I complained to the restaurant manager the next day. Unfriendly staff, dirty. Upper floor is just a private playground.. Terminals don't work properly. At the checkout you just get a stupid look when you want to order something. Whether such a franchise entrepreneur can sustain itself remains to be seen.

So you don't expect much from a fast food restaurant but there should be at least one thing and that is hygiene!!!! It's incredibly dirty here, you think you're not in Germany but somewhere abroad where you don't pay any attention to hygiene. You can also see enough staff walking around in the restaurant but none of them are wiping the tables! They are always dirty no matter what time you come in. 2nd floor is always closed! And when you walk up there to go to the toilet you get a shock, they don't clean up there at all!! Neither the tables that have been standing for hours with tablets nor the toilets... I've been there a few times and it always looks like this. I've been to many McDonald's but this is one of the dirtiest. MC DONALDS PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!

They prepare long orders before small orders which caused me to miss my bus and it’s emotional. A family ordered 20 things and I ordered 3 things but they got their order made before mine? They ordered after me and had a large order yet I didn’t receive my things first

Was there in the evening after an event. At the drive I tried to place the order - the employee barely understood me and I hardly understood him at all with his dialect. The order didn't arrive, some of it was wrong (Big Mac WITHOUT onions) + it was cold! Fries too (: also the burgers were just thrown together in an unappetizing way, the sauce wasn't on the burger, but next to it in the package. Hence this not so great review from me. After I lacked the motivation to write during my first evaluation, I'm making up for it today. The ambience continues to flatten out compared to when it opened. It often looks dirty on site and some of the furniture is already too worn and no longer attractive. Not much can be said about the food. You know what you're getting into when you grab something from a McDonald's. What there is to say, however, is this. The prices are no longer in proportion to the quality. This noticeably decreases in taste. Burgers are also being packaged more and more in a visually appealing way. In addition, the amount of equality decreases. If you take an order with you, there is hardly any possibility of getting it warm to your place of residence. With my journey time of just under 5 minutes it is usually cold. The biggest problem I have with this branch is the service. In the rarest of cases it is possible to carry out an order as planned. I only order via app, which should rule out any errors. Sometimes the wrong sauce is packed, sometimes food is missing from the order. When you order a Happy Meal, you almost always pack the wrong toy. Even if it is justified because it no longer exists, communication and coordination of the alternative would have to take place. But there is obviously a lack of competence for this. The preparation time varies greatly depending on the team composition. Sometimes I had my order after a few minutes, sometimes I could wait between 20 and 30 minutes. The latter is a bad joke.

Actually quite a new McD, but not great staff, half of them forget when eating, tables dirty (although not very busy), upper floor unfortunately closed, toilets only partially ok - other McDs do this much better, even at rush hour

There are homeless people in the building

This is not about food, even though the food is average, it's McDonalds what do you expect. This is about manager totally disrespecting on of their own employee. i was waiting to pick up my food to take out and this girl preparing my food and other food ( working on the counter ). She was very quick and did all her chores, sorted and she saw her colleague working on drive through get stumble hammered by orders, so this great girl jumped into help her. Then this manager comes out ( some south Asian origin) yell at her in front of all the customers for helping her colleague. This man is clearly not suitable for a managing position, where this manager should have done is take her somewhere away from customers and talked to her in decent manor so customer will not see and hear all this scenario. This girl felt so embarrassed because all the customers were looking at her and this girl didn't do anything wrong and she completed all her chores and she jumped to help her colleague. If a higher management see this I want you to discipline this shift manager for mistreatment of other employees. Employees have rights, they not get deserved to embarrassed in public. This happened on Saturday the 29th of September 2024 around 1130pm .

Ordered 8 croissants and 4 coffees, it has now been 25 minutes since we ordered and now they are telling us it will take another 15 minutes to receive the order. That was after we asked for an update twice. They could at least have the basic courtesy to inform us if it's taking so long. When I asked for a refund he simply said it wasn't possible. Now I'm stuck here for the next 15 minutes or I lose 20 euros. Great. I don't really blame the employees, more the management. If it is busy time, more employees should be available. Therefore, I'm leaving an angry review 🙂.

Tables not wiped and staff twiddling their thumbs. Why can the staff 'chill' despite the place being full? Correct: The order terminals are slower than my C64.. The card payment alone takes easily 3 minutes and each click on the display takes at least 10 seconds for something to happen. I don't want to speculate about the reasons for this, but it's no fun to serve when you're hungry. (Other customers already asked because the receipt paper was empty... It wasn't empty, it just takes time..)

We celebrated our children's birthday there today and as a mother I was very disappointed. Everything that is promised on the website at the children's birthday party does not take place there... The children weren't allowed to prepare their own burgers in the kitchen and there wasn't even a tour of the kitchen... the birthday child didn't get a birthday present, which wouldn't have mattered to us, nor was he allowed to make his own ice cream. There was no ice cream for him at all. There is a basketball hoop in the games area but there is no ball for it in the store. There was also no ball available for the other game for which a ball is intended. This course was only partially playable and was broken. The room was not decorated or decorated as pirate themed as discussed. The paper plates, balloons, napkins and wooden cutlery lay in a pile on the table. I have to say that for birthdays you only have to pay for what you eat and you can also book a chocolate cake, which was very tasty. The room and the paper plates etc. are free but there is no air conditioning at all and it was really hot in there. The boss was very friendly but didn't really care about us. Unclean, all garbage cans full. Was in transit. I now have severe stomach pain and the bathroom is now my living room. Never again.. not recommended. Was there on July 24, 2024.

I chose table service even though there were no numbers, I entered the table number. My order was ready, then someone came and told me that I could only do something like that using my cell phone and that there were no normal table numbers because there weren't enough employees today. But he found time to tell me and lecture me instead of bringing me my order. I had to pick it up myself. Tables were not wiped. The colleague later wiped other tables, unfortunately not mine.

The food is fast food as you know it. Personally, I really like McCafe because you can easily just buy a coffee here. Furthermore, the location is great. The service is actually always quite good, and if a mistake is made they will be happy to help you.

Of course the food tastes like everywhere else at McDonald's. As far as cleanliness is concerned, things don't look so good. The tables and chairs are always dirty. That's why it's unpleasant to eat there. Better to take the food with you and eat somewhere else. The waiting times are okay. There are the touchscreens. I find this very practical and convenient!
