Beautiful place but it is expensive a bit

I ordered a cordon bleu to go. At first, I thought they'd given me the wrong thing because 70% of it had neither cheese nor ham. The food was lukewarm when I got home, 500 meters away. It tasted like it had been warmed up in a microwave. Still, very good service. But I definitely won't be coming back.

We have eaten there many times and have always enjoyed it, whether it was the food or the service, everything was great. But this time we didn't feel comfortable! The waitress hardly noticed us. We waited at least 10 minutes for someone to come and even when we waved over we were ignored. We had to go to the till in person and that's when you could see that the waitress wasn't normal, other food was brought incorrectly and not properly to other tables, which also surprised another waitress and I, as a customer standing next to me, noticed! But the crowning moment was what disgusted me. I wanted to have the rest of the food packed up and a small casserole dish was thrown in front of my nose and the rest of the food was shoved in so disrespectfully, whether it was salad, orange slices, schnitzel or spaetzle, something so disgusting I have never experienced anything like that there because as a customer you don't want to see that even if you're stressed you can do it with a bit of love! We were there between 1:30 and 3 p.m., and it was a black-haired woman. I don't know if anyone would want such an unfriendly person working there. We won't eat there again and will spread the word about such behavior! It's a shame, because it was one of our favorite restaurants with actually very good food!

I ate here on a Monday, which is schnitzel day! And the schnitzels were fantastic! Very tasty and a decent size. The service was fast and very friendly.

The food was good, but unfortunately the beer was very flat. As an apology, they gave us a small free beer 👍. The atmosphere was okay, but more geared toward younger crowds. The music was more reminiscent of a beach bar in Brazil.

I really enjoyed it there. There was a large selection of food, and it was delicious. The staff was also friendly and helpful, and you didn't have to wait long for your food. You can eat inside or outside. I also think the prices are reasonable. I would recommend making a reservation in advance, otherwise there might not be a seat available. It's a good place to try.

Better to continue on to the café barefoot...we were unfortunately disappointed. The schnitzels are definitely cooked in a deep fryer...not great. The wedges are not recommended at all. The salad dressing tastes store-bought, not homemade...and drowns the salad. A real shame. Both the service staff were friendly.

A truly beautiful restaurant with super delicious food! Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and lovingly prepared. I was here last fall, and the restaurant seemed a bit worn. Today, it has a whole new lease of life, from the decor and the service to the food. I'd be happy to come back! Upon inquiry, I learned that the management changed in May—a noticeable improvement on every level!

Every kebab shop is hygienic, and the salad was uneven and covered in black spots. The cutlery was dirty.

A young waiter took our order, 4 starters and 5 mains All our food arrived at the same time ( minus 2 starters), We explained we wanted our starters before mains they simply dumped everything on the table eventually took one main back and bought back after starter. Waitresses in charge very unhelpful- then their card machine mysteriously stopped working and were told we hat to pay cash, no apologies for the poor service- I think they work on the basis foreign tourists won’t ever come back so doesn’t matter - worst service ever in a restaurant

Honestly, way better than I expected. The pizza was super tasty with a crispy crust and fresh toppings. The portion was huge and really satisfying. Same goes for the Auflauf, full of flavor and very generous. It’s definitely one of the best pizza places I’ve tried in Marburg and the prices are totally fair. Highly recommend if you’re hungry and want something really good.

I've always been very happy with the Maxx. Unfortunately, I was there again and the service was really a disaster. We waited an extremely long time for everything. But in the end we got a 20% discount because we complained, which was nice. :)

Waited 10 minutes in vain for service (restaurant half full), picked up the card myself at the front. Another 10 minutes later the order was taken. After another 25 minutes the drinks didn't even come. Little else happened from the staff either. We said a friendly goodbye at the counter, handed over the menus, but no one noticed that we were subjected to poor service. When asked, there were three people understaffed, which we doubt. NEVER AGAIN!

Quote consumer window: Significant hygiene deficiencies and old contamination were found in the operating rooms, furnishings and equipment. It was also discovered that there were rodent droppings in several rooms. Spoiled food was also found.

Didn't get a card. After 25 minutes someone came... Food was ok Beer was stale and in my opinion they bring a new one... Nothing! (also on request) I think that in a restaurant with these prices, not only should the taste and quality be good, but also the service, which was miserable. Price performance grade 4 So we (4 people) weren't very enthusiastic and neither were the neighbors at the table.

The location is highly recommended! I've been eating there for 18 years and have never been disappointed! It is very centrally located in the upper town and is very inexpensive compared to other restaurants, despite the good quality of the food.

When our burger was burnt and the fries arrived at the table cold, the experience in this restaurant was only topped by the dirty toilets. Would like to give 0 stars. Service was overwhelmed but friendly

In the past I would have given 5 stars but over the last 2 years the quality and service have continuously declined. I've ordered food twice in the last few weeks. Each person ordered a Texas burger with a falafel patty. The first order seemed to change the menu and instead of falafel there was Crispy Chicken Vegan. Unfortunately, the fried egg we ordered was missing from the burger. Ordered again today, Texas burger and Palermo schnitzel with a small portion of cream sauce. This time the burger arrived but without fries and the cream sauce was also forgotten.

Actually you should be able to give 0 stars! The food was terrible - the burgers were all returned, the schnitzel was cold, the salad plate with cheap iceberg lettuce and bad ready-made dressing for €9.90 was outrageous. The burger meat was inedible, see photos. Hard, gray, neither juicy nor tasty. Definitely TK. The service was also disastrous. We waited forever for the drinks. Our service wasn't really friendly either. After all, we were only charged for the fries - but the burgers were returned uneaten. Regarding the ambience - if I had seen the mold in the women's toilet at the beginning, I would have walked straight out of the store. Unfortunately too late. We definitely wouldn't go there again.

We went to the restaurant for dinner. We ordered burgers and schnitzel. In summary, the food was very bad and sometimes disgusting. After ordering we waited about 40 minutes for the food. About the burger: The “meat” on the burger was completely gray and it is very likely that it was from the freezer. It wasn't really hot. We've had a number of bad burgers but these beat it again. We returned the burgers because they were inedible. So far we have never returned food because it was somehow edible but we couldn't eat it here. About the schnitzel: The poor pig died in vain. The sauce came out of the packet and it was lukewarm. We definitely won't come back.

The supposedly nice ambience is deceptive. We are just sitting there after visiting the restaurant and disinfecting ourselves with several schnapps to digest the experience. The burgers and schnitzels that were served were inedible/cold. Everyone went back. We could come to an agreement, but this could certainly have been avoided. We (a group of several people...) will certainly not come here again, of course the service staff couldn't help it, the long waiting times complete the experience. A rotten pipe in the women's toilet also contributes to the rating.

Main course was ok, starter (baked cheese) was cold. Even after we brought it up and got a new cheese, it was still cold inside, even though it was supposed to be BAKED. Although it wasn't really busy or stressful, the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and kept forgetting things. The worst thing about the visit, however, was that mice also live in the restaurant. Several mice ran through the restaurant and kept coming out of a hole. Despite us raising it, nothing was done and no one was really interested... All the cobwebs in the corners, dirty upholstered furniture and the leftover food on the floors didn't make it any better. What a shame!

We were there on December 20th, 2024, Christmas party, we were all very satisfied. The atmosphere was very pleasant, Boghana and Denis (waitress) were very nice, quick and very attentive... We are already looking forward to the next celebration in this restaurant.

In short, the food was okay, the service wasn't attentive enough, and they didn't really wait for answers to questions. The cutlery was unclean. It was well attended, yes, but there were also obviously 4 waitresses who had probably restructured things a bit, but who didn't take enough care of us without any agreement and still seemed stressed. Unfortunately I won't be coming back after seeing the very disgusting toilet. That's better.

Very nice restaurant, but unfortunately they don't know much about cooking: the vegetarian casserole consisted almost entirely of potatoes and was warmed up in the microwave: lots of hot and cold spots in the food. Unfortunately, the burgers weren't good either: compact and firm patty, certainly not fresh.

Was a guest here in the evening at the weekend and have to say that I am absolutely disappointed. The food was far too greasy, far too heavy and simply inedible. But the worst thing was the incredibly unfriendly service. The guy behind the counter doesn't just sell drinks, if you know what that means, and his colleague with a Russian accent was unusually rude. The whole store seems completely disorganized. It really makes you wonder how it is possible that this store is still doing so poorly despite all the negative reviews. Apparently no one here has learned from the previous bad reviews. I will definitely never come back and in the future I will always read the reviews before eating somewhere.

Unfriendly service, no one can speak German properly and the food is far too greasy.

I was a regular at Maxx for years but now I've finally had enough. Anyone who has the "pleasure" of sitting in the bar area will be treated to a top-class soap opera - and it's free! The staff shout at each other, gossip about colleagues and the kitchen as if they were on their own reality show. People complain about the unfair division of work and complain about colleagues that the beams are bending. And all of this at a volume that the whole store can hear! No wonder the waitresses all look like they've bitten into lemons and are running around completely mindless. Organization? None! I really gave the store enough chances (too often!), but at some point things have to be good. It's a shame, but in this theater you can't even eat in peace anymore.

We were in this restaurant late Saturday evening, understand that it was very busy at that time, we have rarely experienced such a disorganized place. Food was okay. The mood was generally very bad. Service overwhelmed and haphazard, our order didn't arrive at the same time, and we felt like no one really knew what they were doing. All in all a disappointing evening - we definitely won't be coming back.

The two of us had eaten at the restaurant in question. It's cozy and quite small, but the food was very tasty and I haven't eaten as cheaply as here in a long time. Two main courses, a starter and three drinks cost just over 40 euros in the afternoon. This is very pleasing. Gladly again.

Among the TOP 3 worst restaurants I have ever visited. 10 people, reservation not recorded correctly. The guests are then parked in the drafty basement, with direct access to the cooling chamber. Food (Schnitzel Palermo) no longer warm, service subpar. One guest didn't get any drinks. Two guests' glasses were dirty, even on the second attempt. Never again!

Table reserved for 10 people a week in advance, no reservation available on site. After a short wait we got a table in the basement, freezing cold down there. Conversations are difficult due to the volume of the music. After an hour, not all the drinks were there. Dirty glasses throughout and every single piece of cutlery (respect for that) dirty. Food mixed, pizza good, schnitzel and fries a disaster. The waitresses really don't get anything done, there are probably no agreements between them. Either something ordered doesn't come at all or something ordered comes three times. In the end we also had to pay for some drinks that we didn't even get, even after the third request. You experience a lot, especially when the “restaurant” is busy, but we waited in vain for the hidden camera! If you have a sense of humor and need something to laugh about, this is the place for you. It's better to eat somewhere else with a larger group if you don't want to be annoyed for 3 hours! Of particular note is a young female server who uses her nose to determine who gets which drink. And yes, the nose was in every glass we had there.

Were there in the evening in June and sat outside. The casseroles and pizza at the next tables looked good and, according to reports, the guests also liked them. We decided on the lumberjack schnitzel. Unfortunately, apparently not the core competence of the Maxx. An ultra-thin veal schnitzel with breading drowned in an indefinable onion-tomato sauce. I've never eaten bacon that was so dry. The salad was also carelessly prepared. The waitresses were listless and overwhelmed student temporary workers (at least that was the impression). 3 stars only because of the ambience and the apparently good casseroles and pizza at the neighboring tables. I will never eat schnitzel here again. But maybe next year I'll try pizza.

Nice restaurant, but unfortunately totally unfriendly service staff, not all but two who were really borderline when we visited. The food was delicious, unfortunately our meals all came one after the other and it was no longer possible to eat together. Other visitors felt the same way, you could see that.

After waiting 40 minutes for our food, we asked how long it would take. The waiter, who also took our order, then said he would ask. During this time, groups that arrived long after us had already received their food. After another 20 minutes without any information, we paid for our drinks at the counter. There we then saw that the cellar had not entered our food at all, neither directly when we ordered nor after we asked. Unfortunately, service was catastrophic, despite low occupancy. Unfortunately I can't rate the food because we never got it.

1 time and I'll NEVER GO AGAIN. Four of us went in. 1. The 88 ordered and it said sweet and sour sauce and they got hot sauce. Took a bite, totally disgusting because there was no hot sauce either. NOT EATEN AT ALL. We complained, they said they understood it that way and didn't get a new one. She arrived later and said she could only make one drink on the house. 2. The hamburger was completely burnt and that's how it tasted, the lettuce on the hamburger looked totally rubbish, looked very old and was slightly spicy. 2 BITES NOT EAT 3. The meat was too hard, should have been softer. 4. Coke was brought to me twice and each time a lot was spilled and on my pizza, which didn't go away. They stopped coming to us so I could order a drink because the pizza made me thirsty. I DID NOT EAT IT. The employees sat together at the table throughout. We wanted to pay and because they didn't come anymore, I went to the front and said we wanted to pay. Where we wait for payment is Our elderly person went up the steep, dangerous, narrow stairs to the toilet and came back and the waitresses still weren't there. Then we went forward together. We had to pay for everything, even what we didn't eat. IMPOSSIBLE. I wanted to pay in cash, then she couldn't give me the money and wanted me to give her the money. Of course, after such campaigns, I insisted on my money and then I really asked myself whether I could change the €0.50 so that they could give me the appropriate money. I had just finished looking for €0.50 when they handed me €0.20. Unfortunately you have to give 1 star to be able to rate it, they don't deserve anything. I've never reviewed a restaurant before, but I had to. Not recommended at all. Worst restaurant I have ever experienced at the age of 42. I don't think it could be any worse. I learned from this and that is to read the other bad reviews before trying a new restaurant. The bad rating reflects what we unfortunately had to experience. Some of the reviews were even a long time ago and it seems like they haven't improved a bit.

First I was brought the wrong burger, then this one was badly burnt. The service staff doesn't apologize for any of this and blames the kitchen.

Update review 09/15/24: We go there very often and enjoy it. This time, however, we were given a plastic bottle of Geroldsteiner for just under €7, an absolute absurdity in our opinion. For the price I just expect a gas bottle. A No GO for a restaurant in my opinion. For that price I get a whole case of water... Food still tastes good, so instead of 5 stars there are only 3 stars. If we are invited for the next bottle of water, 5 stars again. Review 2 years ago: Conjure up the best casseroles in Marburg, I recommend the salmon spinach casserole. Great value for money. By the way, the schnitzels are also huge and super tasty. Everything at Maxx is absolutely cheap, it's worth checking out.

I ate at Maxx yesterday and I've never had such bad food in Marburg. My food was dripping with grease, as if they had thrown every component into the deep fryer. However, it was only served lukewarm and didn't taste good at all. Even the fries, which gave the impression of frozen goods, were auwarm and soggy. The staff also took a long time and our waitress seemed like she was drunk. We had to wait a long time for everything while 3 waitresses were partying inside. All in all one of the worst and most disappointing experiences in the upper city.

I was there recently and I have to say it was a great experience. The tapas were super tasty, really well made and varied. Plus a few really well-mixed cocktails that rounded off the evening perfectly. The atmosphere is totally cozy, you immediately feel at home. The service was also great – friendly, attentive and quick. Overall, a really great evening. I can only recommend it! Yours truly will definitely come back.

The food tastes very good and the prices are completely ok. Points deducted for the unfriendly service that first served us. As soon as the lady appeared, you could tell that she didn't feel like working at all and was just completely annoyed! Well, she then shared this at the neighboring table. Her colleague was much nicer and we were happy that he took over our table. The cola was totally stale, but oh well. Still, it's worth a visit.

My husband ordered a steak medium and he received a well-cooked piece of meat that was 1cm thick. I have no idea what that was, but it certainly wasn't steak. I had a burger that was okay. We sat outside, it was stupid that the big green/blue flies came with the food. The toilets urgently need a thorough cleaning, one toilet door couldn't even be closed. I hope that they don't just clean the glass cleaner there in duplicate.

Food was ok, the ambience is so good. The music is extremely loud, it's almost impossible to have a conversation... they also said that they should please turn it down, but nothing happened. Had a burger with fries, the burger was OK, the fries were lukewarm and the taste was also OK. The prices are normal but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it now.

I'm here in the city for 2 days, sightseeing :) I decided to eat at this restaurant. We ordered homemade lemonade lemon with mint, 1x schnitzel dish and 1x fitness salad. The waitress welcomed us in a friendly manner and with a smile on her face. We rate the food in school grades as follows: Lemonade: 2 Veal schnitzel: 2 Salad: 2 In warm weather, sitting outside, in too much sun, if you can put it like that, an awning can and will be extended. Sitting indoors in warm temperatures is an impossibility. However, I have to mention an incident with the schnitzel with gorgonzola sauce. This incident could have caused a massive injury in the mouth and throat, a sharp piece of plastic was in the sauce, this was noticeable in the mouth when chewing, this piece of plastic could have caused a massive injury in the mouth or throat. Mistakes happen, but under no circumstances should something like that happen. The sauce from a bucket? Piece of plastic broken off the bucket? I don't know, reported this case to the waitress immediately. Professionally handled, apologies, direct message forwarded to the kitchen and tried to iron this out in the form of 2 espressos on the house. I will post the piece of plastic here as a photo, I hope that the operator reads this review and finds a way to ensure that this never happens again. Luckily, no injuries occurred. If that were the case, the situation would of course look completely different. Nevertheless, we ate and drank well here for a humane price.

We visited Maxx Marburg for 3 days. The picture shows a Maxx Burger. Food was delicious. We were satisfied and will definitely come back again. There was a misunderstanding when ordering. Wheat was ordered and Pilsner was brought, then 2 wheats were tapped. A wheat was given to us.

Delicious food at moderate prices. The homemade iced tea was great. We felt very comfortable.

We ate schnitzel there twice for lunch (-20%). Both times were very good. On our first visit we wanted to leave again because it took about 15 minutes before we could order something - and it wasn't nearly full...

Not suitable for vegans. Asked for spaghetti instead of tagliatelle (as it contains eggs). Ribbon noodles (from the day before yesterday) received. The service staff didn't understand the problem and reacted in an annoyed manner. Plus zero taste. The husband and child didn't like their meat dishes either. All 3 during the night heavy digestion. Never again.

We were happy to get a table. When we heard the first complaint about the food at the next table while waiting for service, we didn't think anything bad. Then two women complained about their mixed drinks. When the food was brought our fears were confirmed, the gratinated cheese was cold and tough. The rocket underneath was yellow and dead. My husband's pizza was tolerable with additional salt. The staff, who tried very hard, accepted our complaint. We only paid for the pizza and the drinks. So we'll never eat here again.

The food there is always delicious and delivered quickly. There is a large selection of cocktails, which I have always really liked. The service staff are always very friendly and always try hard. It is also very cozy there and impresses with its vaulted ceiling in the basement and the rustic ambience on the ground floor. I can recommend it.

In touristy student towns you have to keep your culinary expectations low. The Maxx still managed to miss these. The lavish menu and normal prices invited us to order 1 pork lumberjack schnitzel and 1 mushroom cream schnitzel, both with fried potatoes and a vegetable soup. Well, we shouldn't have done that. The vegetable soup turned out to be a warm bowl filled with cream that masked any other flavor. Onions, garlic or broccoli were probably in there somewhere, but you searched in vain for the taste (cream wasn't even on the menu, why do you make vegetable soup with cream???). The supposed “fried potatoes” were from the previous day(s?). This would only have been half as bad if they had been warmed up properly in the microwave (they were still half cold) and they had actually been fried potatoes. They were more like half-cooked potatoes that had been quickly blackened in the pan (yes, they were black). Until now we are amazed that you can prepare fried potatoes soggy and burnt at the same time. At first we were bothered by the measly portions and the fact that each schnitzel only had 2 potatoes on the side, but of course that wasn't a problem because you couldn't eat them anyway. The schnitzels themselves were a bit greasy, but perhaps still acceptable for this price category. We had tea and cola to drink, although we wished that the teacups had been at least half full, but after 3 sips they were empty. The student waitress was able to politely reply to the complaint that she couldn't do anything about the food. But neither do we. Afterwards we went to a real restaurant. After all, we now have the story of the worst restaurant visit in Marburg to tell. Thank you for that, Maxx.
