We visited Mauritius last Friday for the first time since it reopened – this time with our baby. Although we didn't have a reservation, we got one of the last available tables. Since the music at our table was a bit loud for the little one, we asked for a different table. Despite the packed house, the staff made a real effort to find us a quieter spot. We've always enjoyed Mauritius, but the new ambiance is even nicer. The food was delicious, the portions were just right, and the entire team – especially the new owner – was super friendly. A very successful refresh for the (old) new place. We'll definitely be back!

Totally disappointed Food was okay

When I arrived, I immediately felt like I was on vacation—beautifully coordinated colors, plants, a relaxed atmosphere, and, above all, a super warm welcome. I sampled the menu, and my highlight was the Caribbean Grilled Chicken. The rice that came with it was well-seasoned and a bit spicy, the sweet potatoes were nice and crispy, and I love the Mauri salad dressing anyway. It was like a little vacation in the evening. 🤍

Unfortunately, we were not at all satisfied with our visit. The menu has recently been drastically reduced, and the quality of the food has also declined. The schnitzel was okay, but the portion of fries was very small. The sauce for the schnitzel was as runny as tap water and made from a ready-made powder, thus lacking in taste and being rather unpleasant. The service was large, but the constant turnover of waiters created more unrest than comfort. Perhaps they want to present themselves as very modern and dynamically young after the renovation. Then it should be seen as an improvement in general and not give the impression that it's better to steer clear of this restaurant. Revenue must be generated; a business must cover its costs with the prospect of profit – perfectly understandable, but Mauritius has been better at that in the past.

Six of us dined at Mauritius on August 4, 2025. A wonderful, very stylishly decorated restaurant with a high level of comfort, where you quickly lose track of time. Very friendly and attentive, yet unobtrusive staff, with excellent service. We ordered a varied selection from the well-structured menu and were delighted. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, everything was perfectly balanced, and every dish arrived piping hot. The value for money is excellent! I eat out a lot and often in restaurants and have rarely enjoyed such a harmonious overall experience. My verdict: 12 out of 10! Keep it up!

A very nice, newly opened restaurant in the heart of Esslingen. The cozy outdoor terrace invites you to enjoy your usual good beach food when the weather is nice. The staff is also very friendly and attentive. The food is very good and of high quality. The drinks menu is also very extensive and features some very good cocktails. Eating at Mauritius is always an experience.

You used to have vodka with Redbull and now nothing since it's new and I'm not satisfied 🙄

Everything was great!!! We ate pasta that was even individually prepared, two steaks, each served on a hot lava stone and with truly top-notch meat, and a turkey schnitzel with fries that was also delicious. On top of that, we also got a cocktail with or without alcohol for each meal. They were truly delicious. The hosts are very friendly. For a spontaneous meal, it was a more than successful visit for us.

I've been there once since it reopened, and the atmosphere is great! The service was also very funny and friendly! Since I didn't eat, I can't comment on the food, but the cocktails were very good (Florida or Men's Health). All in all, it was a really nice evening!

We received a very friendly welcome. I hadn't reserved a table. Although it was full, they were able to provide us with an outdoor table, which was very pleasant in the warm summer weather. The food was really good. The value for money was good. The server was unobtrusively friendly and asked several times if everything was okay or if we had any further requests. Two people with drinks, around €50...just right. I'd be happy to go again.

Rarely have I experienced anything like this, except of course in Bulgaria.

Unfortunately, the cocktails only have a dead orange as decoration and no fresh fruit anymore...so unfortunately any holiday feeling is missing

The best Mauri in the area. Reopening in July 2025, free cocktails are available. The hot stone dishes are also well explained. Very friendly and competent staff. Excellent food, large portions.

The order from the kitchen takes a very long time to arrive. The drinks arrive on time, but even the cake from the kitchen takes a long time to arrive.

We were there right at the reopening. After a warm welcome, we enjoyed friendly service, delicious free cocktails (as part of a special offer), and lots of fun cooking our own hot stone steak (even our vegetarian wanted to try it). It was a fantastic evening and a successful opening. Definitely worth a visit!

Sensational service with great food

According to the website and the reservations page, the Mauritius would have been on March 1st. should open. So we had a week ago for March 2nd. reserved online. When we got to our reservation the restaurant was still closed and was a construction site… It was very disappointing that we wanted to eat here with a larger group and no one had informed us that the opening could not be kept. I even received a reservation confirmation by email. To avoid something like this, online reservation should not be possible. Very unprofessional for such a large chain.

If the store is under renovation, please do not accept reservations and confirm them! Wherever!

I couldn't rate the food because the prices are unreasonable for this kind of food, in my opinion. Service was excellent. The ambiance was fine and clean. Drinks weren't good because the high prices weren't justified. I ordered the most expensive cocktail, the Good Bye Motherf...r, and it was served disastrously. The appearance and taste were reserved by a lot of ice in a regular glass, like a €4 cocktail in Bali in a spilum. Unfortunately, the price was €10.50.

Die selbstgemachte Salatsoße war wie immer einmalig und der Nachtisch French Toast auch. Ich hätte immer gerne mehr Salatsoße und es war komischerweise in einer Woche einmal genug und einmal nur noch 1/3 der Menge der Vanillesoße dabei beim Nachtisch. Die anderen Speisen treffen meist nicht so meinen Geschmack, ich komme immer für den sehr guten Salat. Denn die Käsespätzle die die anderen bestellten waren fad und sehr fest und trocken. Die Cocktails kamen gut an. Teuer finde ich es leider.

Basically not bad at all. My invited guests were satisfied. Only I didn't have a birthday. My grilled turkey steak was too salty. I ate it (hungry and that can happen). The cook wasn't available. I then wanted to order some of the good, diluted super (cream sauce) from Maggi or something like that, which I also use at home from time to time. But thanks no. Mini portion about 4-5 tablespoons for 3.80. Shame here in Swabia Greetings Uli

We were there for dinner and a cozy cocktail. Unfortunately, it was no longer possible to order drinks at 11 p.m. (Saturday) because "it was already the last round" - but this was not communicated to us as guests.

Pasta mit Pilzen und Spinat in Weissweinsauce Der Versuch bleibt ein einmaliges Erlebnis. Die Pasta war heiß, dafür einen Punkt. Pilze waren okay, max. 3 Blätter Spinat verkocht. Die Bedienung verschollen, ganze Laden leer. Pfeffermühle habe ich mir selbst aus dem Regal geholt. Nach mehrmaligen Rufen in alle Ecken, keine Resonanz. Sie war 3x an unserem Tisch, zur Bestellung, Lieferung des Essens und zum Zahlen. Darauf haben wir 15 min gewartet und mussten wieder mit Rufen in dem leeren Laden nach ihr suchen.

We have been very satisfied with everything at Mauritius Esslingen so far. But we can't make sense of what happened today. Some tables were empty and were not cleared. The service came after about 45 minutes and only three requests. At the next table, the guests left and put the money on the table. Nobody came to collect. The food was not delivered correctly (fries instead of sweet potato fries). A meal only came after we asked. The cocktails were bland with no decoration. Apparently everything was gone. The ginger cubes in one cocktail seem to have vanished into thin air. Hefeweizen was out. Apparently so does quinoa, as do avocados. There was very little of both in the food. The calculation wasn't correct either. The staff was running around pretty crazy. Guys, when I go in, I take something from the tables and don't walk in empty. :-( Unfortunately there was no tip this time. I hope it was just a blip today.

That was really really bad. Went here for coffee and wanted to visit the terrace in the good weather. The answer is that the terrace will be cleaned up immediately. All well and good. After we drank our overpriced cappuccino inside, we wanted to pay and waited 20 minutes. Since no one came towards us, I wanted to see if the 3 waiters were outside and in fact all 3 were sitting on the terrace, which was supposed to be closed. Very rude behavior from all 3 waiters. Sorry, you have lost me as a customer. ⭐️

Had a cheesecake with chocolate and a “homemade” lemonade as a drink. Both were very, very tasty. I really enjoyed it. The service was super friendly. Gladly again and again. Above all, you can sit comfortably outside and enjoy the sun. Really great. The only point of criticism is the prices. Found it a bit expensive. So if I compare my homemade lemonade was more expensive than a kebab... around €8... for water with two pieces of lime, a little sugar and a mint, that's not justified. Therefore the urgent appeal: Could you please consider your pricing policy? At least when it comes to drinks! You would have more customers who would come over for a cocktail... because as a new customer you would feel like you have been left behind somewhere. That's why I deducted a star from you! I often order takeaway food. Lately it's happened a lot that something wasn't right. Be it the wrong dish, missing ingredients or the food not being ready at the requested pick-up time. It's all very annoying and I'm really considering whether I should order somewhere else.

Very friendly restaurant and good food. Good service, hearty dishes, wide choice of cocktails. Small disappointment, no Mauritian specialty apart from the name of the restaurant and the dishes. The background music was very pleasant but not in keeping with the theme… We were more in Cuba 🤣 No menu offering for dessert, too bad. We still had a good evening, very well eaten, the cocktails were good, the staff very pleasant, with the aim of providing customer satisfaction despite the language barrier, a little moment of warmth and vacation in the middle of the cold February in Germany. I recommend 👍

Large portion, but very tasteless. Ordered the Caribbean Grilled Chicken with salad and rice. Something was missing. Even the sweet potato fries weren't tasty, although you can't go wrong. Boneless chicken, but with a lot of cartilage. I would have preferred the bones. Salad tasted bitter as soon as there was no more dressing left. The only positive thing was that the food came quickly. However, I like to wait longer so that it tastes better in the end. Service was nice. Price does not match performance. A pity. It was better a few years ago.

My wife and I came here for a night cap before returning to our hotel for the evening. The place was fairly empty so we thought we wod get served straightaway. However, we were wrong. Not only were we wrong, but I had to go seek out service just to get a couple glasses of wine. With so many others pla es to go to in Esslingen, I would hesitate coming here.

It's always been good so far, it would be cool if there was a shop like that in Nürtingen too.

I would like to express my disappointment regarding the Mauri Box that I recently ordered from your restaurant. For a price that I don't think is justified, I received three skewers of dry chicken and a large amount of sweet potatoes. The chicken meat was unpleasantly dry and tasteless, which significantly detracted from my eating experience. The amount of sweet potatoes in the box was large, but it was too much. For €16 I only received sweet potatoes and 3 skewers of dry chicken skewers Which was very boring and I couldn't continue eating. Given the price and the quality delivered, I am very disappointed with my experience with the Mauri Box. I hope my feedback can help improve the quality of your food.

Mauritius is usually equally good everywhere. The service has always remained friendly and polite during my visits. The food is good but a bit expensive. The ambience is very nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. I personally recommend the Pasta Italian classic (pictured).

So.. eating is a disaster.. never eat there again

We were only there for dessert and cocktails. This Mauritius is definitely one of the more comfortable ones. It is also well located, close to the train station and a parking garage.

Cocktails haben 40 Minuten gebraucht, 2 von 4 Cocktails haben nach nichts geschmeckt und gingen zurück. Die neuen Cocktails waren in Ordnung. 2x Nachtisch hat 60 Minuten gedauert. Sehr schade. Dafür war die Bedienung sehr nett.

Kellnerin gibt uns einen nicht abgeräumten Tisch. Nach 10 min wurde der Tisch abgeräumt. Nach weiteren 10 min die Bestellung aufgenommen. Nach 40 min kamen die Getränke, davon 1 falsch und das andere Apfelsaftschorle ohne Kohlensäure. Essen kam nach sage und schreibe 1 Stunde!! Zur Zeit unseres Besuches (5 Personen) war das Restaurant nur zur Hälfte besetzt. Wir wurden vertröstet mit "Mitarbeiter-Mangel". Auf Hinweis nach Rabatt oder gratis Nachspeise durch lange Wartezeit, wurden wir mit einem einfach "Sorry, wir haben gerade zu wenig Mitarbeiter" abgewimmelt. Das war der 1. und definitiv LETZTE besucht in diesem Mauritius. Waiblingen hat eine 10x bessere, geordnertere Führung und Personal! Zudem hat Mauri die Preise um fast das doppelte aufgeschlagen. Für Schnitzel mit Pommes und eine Apfelsaftschorle klein 19.90€.

I'm used to something much better from other branches. I wanted to spend a cozy evening with friends and enjoy cocktails and fritas. Unfortunately we were very disappointed, the cocktails were absolutely not good and the preparation and contents were not as described on the menu. Then 40 minutes for 4 cocktails with mediocre operation and just under 1 hour for Fritas. Sorry but it was Mauri Esslingen for the last time for us. When you asked the waitress that the cocktail didn't taste good and you wanted to have another one, the answer was that this wasn't possible without paying in full for both. The waitress was very nice and polite. When the cocktails came back, something was simply added and it still wasn't the real thing. Therefore unfortunately 1 star for the evening.

Mauritius in Esslingen ist eine tolle Location - wir hatten wieder einen wunderschönen Abend. Das Essen ist hervorragend, der Nachtisch mega, das Ambiente sehr schön und der Service top - ganz besonderen Dank an Yongi, der uns bereits das 2. Mal bedient hat und sehr freundlich sowie aufmerksam ist. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Waren heute zum Mittagessen da und sind mehr als zufrieden. Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut und die Portionen groß aber nicht zu groß. Auch die Getränke sind wirklich super. Preis Leistung passt hier auf jeden Fall. Ambiente ist schön und es wirkt alles gepflegt und sauber. Auch die Mitarbeiter dort sind sehr nett und freundlich. Kann man also bedenkenlos empfehlen. Daumen hoch.

Mein Mann und ich waren zum 1 mal im Mauritius essen und es war sehr lecker 😋. Mein Mann hat Hühnchenspieße gegessen mit Süßkartoffeln und 2 Dipps mit Ketchup mit 2 Cocktails und ich habe einen Vegetarischen Salat gegessen mit Gemüse und Falafeln mit 1 Cocktail und zusammen haben wir eine Flasche Wasser getrunken. Einrichtung ist sehr einladend, sowie auch die Speisekarte. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Ich kenne und mag die Mauritius Kette. Leider habe ich jedes Mal (3 Mal, unterschiedliche Zeitpunkte) Magenprobleme vom Besuch in Esslingen bekommen - das ging mir in Stuttgart und Zuffenhausen nicht so. Ich esse eigentlich immer einen Salat und lasse mir das Dressing separat bringen. Hier in Esslingen muss etwas mit dem Brot dazu nicht stimmen. Auf dem Brot ist immer etwas Öl und Kräuter/Gewürze. Ich habe das restliche Brot aus Esslingen mit heim genommen und am nächsten Tag vollends gegessen und wieder schlimme Magenschmerzen bekommen. Auch wenn es bei mir ums Eck ist, werde ich zumindest in diese Filiale nie wieder gehen. Außerdem stehen die Köche am Fenster der Küche und rauchen.

Ich bin begeistert vom Mauritius in Esslingen und kann es uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Die Bedienung war sehr nett, aufmerksam und schnell, das Ambiente sehr entspannt und angenehm. Der alkoholfreie Men's Cocktail war lecker und fruchtig. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt, ich hatte einen Thunfischsalat und ein American Steak mit Pommes. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut!

Fürs Ambiente leider nur 2 Sterne da der Raucherraum weg ist… und jetzt muss man immer draußen sitzen wenn man rauchen möchte, das ist wirklich schade… vorallem im Winter ist das echt blöd. Aber ansonsten immer sehr zufrieden, essen ist immer gut, die Cocktails sowieso. Und das Personal ist auch super freundlich.

Sehr angenehmes Etablissement diesdasannas usw. usf. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die freundliche Bedienung (auf Nachfrage gab man zu verstehen, dass ihr Name Sonja ist), die jede Bestellung mit einem Lächeln aufgenommen hat!

Das Ambiente ist sehr gut. Auch die Bedienung war sehr nett. Wenn man zum Cocktail trinken ins Mauritius möchte, kann ich das sehr empfehlen. Die Pinsa von meiner Begleitung sah auch lecker aus. Allerdings fand ich den Salat nicht besonders gut. Man hat an den Blättern gesehen, dass er schon länger gestanden hat. Auch die Salatsoße hat mir persönlich nicht geschmeckt. Das Brot zum Salat war lecker.

Schöne kleine Bar mit mittelmäßigem Essen. Waren bei gutem Wetter hier, haben uns aber nach drinnen gesetzt. Dementsprechend leer war der Laden aber der Service war dennoch sehr freundlich und hat uns nicht vergessen. Nur gegen Ende waren wir dann wohl zu unauffällig und mussten etwas länger warten. Ambiente ist mal was anderes, wobei ich nicht ganz weiß, ob das jetzt karibisch oder mediterran sein sollte. Ganz hübsch aber. Nichts war dreckig. Toiletten waren ebenfalls sehr sauber. Getränke waren in Ordnung, das Essen leider nur okay. Für den Preis hätte mein Hähnchen schon etwas weniger wabbelig fettige Haut haben dürfen. Würde wiederkommen.
