Ambiance good, service bad, long waiting times, overwhelmed. I had ordered food when all the other guests' food arrived and I was told my food was out and I had to choose another one... that is, everyone had eaten and I waited 15 minutes. It was given incorrectly when paying. The menu was moldy and only stayed there because of the hungry children. Food was generally not good, steak was completely dry, grilled sausage was burnt, was cooked very heavily with flavor enhancers, children didn't eat their food. A complete failure in terms of food and service

We held our wedding there in May 2024 after having eaten there many times and always being completely satisfied! The food was first class, the ambience and service were great, the location, the Uhrigen Castle, is simply great. Food absolutely delicious and definitely worth the money! We were able to celebrate our wedding with Jürgen and his team with around 70 guests. We couldn't have wished for a better location, the atmosphere in the beer garden was fantastic, the food was wonderful and the service team not only looked after us as the bride and groom, but also all the guests, so that we all felt completely at home. Even weeks later we still receive enthusiastic news about how wonderful the celebration there was!!! Thank you so much to all of you!

20 years of junk selling in Esslingen Castle. This used to be one of our favorite addresses when we wanted to treat ourselves to game or just something special. Also before a concert in Stuttgart. But unfortunately it happened more and more often that we were greeted with "Please eat quickly, many guests have requested" despite having a reservation. A very bad performance. - As good (and expensive) as the food is here, cozy hospitality is different. Very unfortunate. This means we are happy to forego the deer goulash for our anniversary.

Spontaneously went by with thirsty, tired children to explore the castle in Esslingen and was not disappointed! I was greeted and served in a super friendly and accommodating manner when I showed up alone with 3 children. Lunch was great value for money - huge schnitzel, with fries and a mixed salad, €12.90 and really incredibly tasty! Everything is obviously homemade (including potato salad), fresh and really big portions! It's almost unheard of since Corona - but apparently you can actually still dine like a knight at the castle. ☺️ I've already agreed with friends that we have to come for dinner soon. I'm looking forward to being able to taste the rest of the menu.

The food was okay but the service could have been better. Unfortunately I didn't stop by that often.

We went there for dinner several times. The service was inattentive, the food was extremely salty and barely edible last time. There is a nice view from the terrace, but inside it is less inviting and quite cool in winter...

Apart from the fact that the setting and the location in the castle between old walls and restored cannons in the countryside is simply brilliant, the hospitality was of the finest quality. The food was super tasty and everything was fresh and on point. The service also left nothing to be desired. Super cool people, courteous and on the ball. Nothing was missing and it was a lovely day and evening.

We had dinner here with a larger group of 12 people on a Wednesday. When we were greeted, we were told that there was only one waiter working in service and that it might take a little longer. He really did his job very well and exuded a calmness even in stressful situations that is sometimes missing in other restaurants when they are significantly less busy. For dinner I had the Swabian plate, which is currently on the menu for the anniversary. In addition to spaetzle, a small schnitzel, a Maultaschen, pork loin and a minced steak were served here. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was fried for far too long and was almost black in some places. Overall, the food was okay, but didn't really blow me away. There are better Swabian restaurants in Esslingen.

A very nice restaurant in the historic castle. From the beer garden you have a wonderful view of the castle. The food is also quite good, but I find the prices very expensive. You pay almost 5 euros for a Hefeweizen from Beissinger. The staff is usually very friendly, although unfortunately there are exceptions. All in all, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

The food was way too salty and the service was ignorant. Unfortunately there was no response to our criticism. The prices for this are clearly too high. A pity! We won't be coming back.

Be careful with the number of cards, especially with the gentleman who is a bit darker (dark hair, slightly stable) - he is also the only one who pays by card - it is said that it actually costs 20.20 euros. If you say you don't want to pay by card, you just have to wait a moment and the device will be brought. It will be a higher amount for me, 22 euros, so 1.80 more! He holds the device so cleverly that the amount he has typed is not visible while you hold out his card. Seems like he's had practice. We drank 2 times coffee, 1 poppy seed cake, 1 strawberry cake and 1 yeast wheat. That's a NOGO!! Otherwise the place, the ambience is great and the other team members of the service are great.

The location of the "Trödler zur Burgschenke" in the grounds of Esslinger Castle invites you to visit, especially in the evening. Very friendly, attentive and fast service with a sense of humor. Food came quickly. Salad was fresh and varied. Main course was hot and very tasty - well prepared. The portions are very generous. Parking nearby (5 minutes away).

This extremely romantic restaurant is located in the picturesque setting of a castle complex and impresses with its wonderful atmosphere and inviting ambience. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful view of the castle's inner courtyard. The dishes were not only presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner, but also demonstrated fresh preparation and loving hand. Served warm, the food impressed with its extremely good taste. In addition, the portions were generous, so that the price-performance ratio was completely convincing. What should also be highlighted is the extraordinary attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, whose excellent service ensured that the waiting time was only short. This experience was a complete success and made us feel extremely comfortable. Our heartfelt thanks go to the entire team. Conclusion: A culinary experience for all senses.

Two years ago, towards the end of Corona, we wanted to go in because it smelled very good there, but it apparently wasn't open to the public. Today not only was the beer garden open, but you could also sit inside (warm) with your dog. The dog was also warmly welcomed. The staff (3 of us in total) were not only quick and friendly, but even humorous. The food, as on the menu, good Swabian and very tasty. The food was served quickly and fresh. All dishes were very tasty. We were able to celebrate the 20th anniversary with the Swabian rolled roast. The side salad even had caraway seeds on top of the coleslaw. Large beer selection. The view of the castle is beautiful and the ambience is nice, stylish and appropriate. The toilets are also well maintained and well maintained. All around a pleasant experience. Gladly again :-)

We went there for coffee after a walk around the castle. Very, very nice, super friendly and courteous staff! Our little dog wasn't a problem either. Cake was really tasty too! Cozy and rustic atmosphere. We'll definitely come back for dinner!

The restaurant is oriented towards traditional Swabian cuisine but also serves other dishes like in other restaurants! All products come from farms in the Schurwald, Aichwald! We are thrilled and very satisfied with what we ordered. Well prepared and tastefully decorated! Portions are big enough and the price is right! Hats off ! Service very friendly and nice. Some of the staff were very unfriendly and the food was salty. For the price you can expect more. The cutlery is covered with water stains. If you point out the flaws you will be insulted in all languages! Never again!!!!

You are in an old castle, which has its own ambience and terms like romantic and cozy count. There's certainly nothing modern here, but it's warm and rustic and a little "worn" but clean and tidy. The food was excellent and the Swabian child's favorite salad - potato salad - was as expected. (Someone once posted that it wasn't good, that was embarrassing for Schwob) Everything we ate that evening tasted very good and the portions were large enough even for very good eaters. I would advise the person who couldn't find any parking here and would have to walk up from the city center to take a look at a city map, as Maps doesn't seem to be available on their mobile phone. The staff is friendly and strives to do a good job. Not easy in a very busy restaurant with a company and the only waitress. Big praise! The toilets are clean and have a combination lock that can be requested. Access for disabled people is difficult and unsuitable for wheelchairs. As already mentioned, you are in an old castle, which is also a listed building and owned by the city. Unfortunately, you have to come to terms with some facts in this regard. The sun terrace is a dream when the weather is nice.

Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass hier vieles nicht selbst gemacht wird sondern fertig im Großmarkt gekauft wurde. Der Kartoffelsalat schmeckt beim besten Willen nicht wie selbstgemacht, die Suppeneinlage war vermutlich auch fertig gekauft. Getränke mussten mehrfach geordert werden. Für den relativ hohen Preis könnte man mehr Handwerk erwarten

Wir haben unsere Weihnachtsfeier hier veranstaltet. Es lief alles wunderbar und alle eingeladenen waren absolut zufrieden. Ordentliche Portionen, sehr leckeres Essen. Bedienung sehr sehr nett und aufmerksam. Hatten unsere Kinder mit dabei, man hat den beiden dann auch Spielsachen und Bücher gebracht, was ich sehr nett fand. Räumlichkeiten und auch die Toiletten sehr sauber. Kann ich absolut weiterempfehlen. Und das tolle ist, man kann danach als kleinen Verdauungsspaziergang noch die Burg Esslingen erkunden ;)

Waren hier zum Geschäftsessen mit mehreren Kollegen. Da die Feiertage bald anstanden, gab es eine gesonderte Speisekarte, jedoch nur mit den einfachsten "Standard" Gerichte. Das Essen hat dementsprechend leider auch nur durchschnittlich geschmeckt. Die meisten von uns hatten Schnitzel mit Pommes, die mit verpackte Ketchup- und Mayotüten serviert wurden (fanden wir nicht so appetitlich auf dem Teller). Auch das Zwiebelrostbraten oder das Steak waren nur durchschnittlich und somit in Ordnung. Beim Service hat einer unserer Kollegen nach zweimaliger Bestellung den ganzen Abend keinen Getränk erhalten. Bis auf diesen Vorfall, war der Service jedoch nett und versuchte sein bestes zu geben. Alles in einem ist es ein schöner Ort zum Speisen, jedoch vom Qualität etwas bedürftig im Vergleich zu den Preisen.

Wir waren mit 11 Personen zum Rittermahl in der Burgschenke. Ein sehr abwechslungsreicher Abend mit sehr leckerem Essen. Was ich hervorheben möchte ist die Tatsache, dass ein Teilnehmer glutenfrei essen muss. Nach Rücksprache im Vorfeld wurde genau geklärt was vom Buffet glutenfrei ist. Außerdem gab es großzügige glutenfreie Alternativen. Das finde ich super. Vielen Dank dafür.

Ein sehr gutes Restaurant in wunderschöner Lage. Das Essen war wunderbar und in großen Portionen angerichtet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der nette und persönliche Service.

Wir waren vor kurzem zu einer längeren Veranstaltung im Restaurant. Die Mitarbeiter haben sich um alle Wünsche und Anliegen sehr gut und zeitnah bemüht. Das Essen (u.a. Ein ganzes Schwein) war sehr gut und auch ansprechend dargeboten. Die Begleitung durch den Abend (über www.drachenkotze.de) war wirklich mal etwas anderes und hat viel Spaß gemacht. Ich würde wirklich gerne 5 Sterne vergeben - wäre da nicht die „Hygiene“ im Sanitärbereich. Einer von 2 Wasserhähnen hat nicht funktioniert und das Trocknen der Hände… Da sieht man die Keime schon an der Wand eine Party veranstalten. Vermutlich haben die einfach mit uns gefeiert. So sollte es nicht sein.

Das Wildgulasch und der Zwiebelrostbraten waren sehr lecker. Das Weissbier hat mir nicht geschmeckt. Das Lokal kann ich bestens weiter Empfehlen.

Wir waren zum Kaffee dort mit insgesamt >10 Personen und ich habe befunden: der Service ist unterirdisch gewesen die Preise überirdisch Völlig überteuert und die Lokation veraltet -hier sind nicht die schönen Ausstellungsstücke - wie Kettenhemd etc. gemeint- sondern die Ausstattung), es hat gezogen wie Hechtsuppe! Update aufgrund der Kommentare des Inhabers Dass die Kosten zur Instandhaltung etc. hoch sind kann ich gut nachvollziehen und habe ich auch Verständnis dafür, Die nicht vorhandene Freundlichkeit ist aber leider nicht wegzudiskutieren und war ja auch schon bei vorhergehenden Kritiken Gegenstand …. ich wünsche Ihnen besseren Erfolg bei der Auswahl ihrer Mitarbeiter

Хороший ресторан на вершине в замке. Интерьер соответствующий. Заказали блюда местной кухни, пиво, радлер. Все вкусно и сытно. Порции огромные. Чтобы попасть в туалет, надо спросить код у официанта.

Net so gut. Die Spätzle waren nur warm und die Bratensosse war aus dem Päckle. Das Fleisch war gut.

Wir waren am Samstag 30.9. /12.15 uhr mir der Verwandschaft aus der Schweiz da, endlich auf der Burg angekommen (Burgstaffeln ,waren 2 Tische besetzt).Der freundliche Kellner sagte uns gleich er könne uns nicht Bedienen ,da er schon den ganzen Tag wie ein Irrer rumspringt, weil viele Krank sind.Aber wir könnten ja to -go bestellen, wir könnten auch in den Marktplatzbesen gehen die hätten mehr Kapazität. Das war schon das zweite Mal das wir so unfreundlich behandelt wurden ,wir kommen definitiv nicht mehr.Ich arbeite im Verkauf hatten auch70 % Ausfall Interessiert auch keinen
