A first-class beer garden! The visit was perfect all around. We not only enjoyed the stunning view from the outdoor area, but also the excellent food. Every plate was a delight! We were there with the whole family (dogs are also allowed) and everyone felt completely at home. The service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommended, we would love to come back!

Delicious meringue on tap and good food

We went twice and it was even better than the 1st time! #1 Restaurant for schnitzel and spaetzle! We ordered a Hugo Spritz (my new fave) and a large water for bf. Necktar graciously set us up with silverware and immediately served our drinks and was a true professional. But OMG! Our favorite employee was Petrit! He served us the first time and cooked our lunch this time! Wow is all I can say. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and you get way more meat than most pounded out schnitzels. AND THE SPAETZLE! He sautéed in butter and topped it off with the finest of seasoned bread crumbs! (I'm pretty sure he added some finely grated parmesan) IT WAS FABULOUS! Like couldn't stop eating it! I left there truly completely full but not uncomfortable. (Germany has way better food restrictions than we do) Do yourself a favor and take your time up at the top of the castle and have a drink on the castle terrace and then go inside (or stay outside) and order a beautiful dinner. You wont regret it. AND THE VIEWS!!!...

The Trödler zur Burgschenke restaurant embodies the beautiful history and image of Esslingen. We were there with a group of 10 people and had made a reservation. The atmosphere is very nice. Unfortunately, the waiters were very unfriendly, seemed completely overwhelmed, and stressed. If we had a special request, they would wave it off in annoyance. I didn't like that. The food was okay, but nothing special. We won't go back.

Da mir bei Google durch anscheinende Diffamierung meine Bewertung (3 von 5 Sternen) gelöscht wurde nun hier. Ich war zusammen mit einer Begleitung dort und habe Käsespätzle und ein Bier konsumiert. Ich hatte eine sehr positiven Eindruck von der Bedienung, die sehr freundlich und sympathisch war. Ich muss aber gestehen, dass mir die Käsespätzle mir nicht geschmeckt haben. Achtung: das ist eine subjektive Meinung. Mit hat die Würze und ein spannender Geschmack gefehlt. Deshalb will ich diesen ehrlichen Eindruck auch hier über TripAdvisor mitteilen. In der Hoffnung dass diese "Diffamierung" nicht auch gleich hier gelöscht wird.

We were in our motorhome at the campsite next to the "Burgschenke Trödler" (Burg Inn Trödler). We started the day with a small aperitif. The service was excellent. For this reason, we returned for dinner that evening. I can only tell you what a fantastic evening it was. Despite the storm, it was an unforgettable experience. The staff are incredibly flexible and have their hearts in the right place. We had an excellent meal and felt at home there from the very beginning. When the storm hit, it was all for one and one for all. It worked out perfectly. We certainly won't be there for the last time. Thank you for this unforgettable day. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Tobias

Outstanding food,service,and views from the restaurant located in the castle.We were in the beautiful scenic city of Esslingen for 1 month.My girlfriend and I both agreed it is the best of the many restaurants we went to .The entire staff was top notch.We never asked for a to go box because honestly we cleaned our plates every time.So delicious,fresh,and the presentation was also great.Dinner in a castle is very cool,but the food is something you should not miss.Thanks for everything,you guys do a great job.

Very nice ambiance, friendly staff, and good food. We didn't like the fact that we had to wait almost an hour for the food. However, it was delicious and the service was good. We had made a reservation in advance as part of a small group and were able to sit outside for a while. Later, the staff offered us a comfortable table inside. We liked that.

Ungreundlichkeit beim Toilettengang als außenstehender vom Park. Zufällig der Chef vor der Tür und gleich 1 Euro kassiert! Keine spezielle Toilettenfrau. Nur die müssen bezahlen die er dann zufällig sieht. Habe kein Problem mit bezahlen für die Toilette, aber dann auf eine freundliche Art und Weise .

Our visit to Trödle was a complete success! The service was warm, attentive and pleasantly reserved - you can immediately tell that people work here with passion. From a culinary point of view, the absolute highlight was the Esslinger Pfänle for two: perfectly fried meat, spicy sauces, lovingly prepared vegetables - a real taste explosion! The portion was more than generous and ideal for sharing. You can taste the quality and freshness of every ingredient. The stylish and cozy ambience rounded off the evening. One thing is certain for us: The Trödle is a real insider tip in the region - we will definitely come back!

Cheap taste for exorbitant price. This is punishable. If only it had at least been a nice cappuccino, it should have been treated once. But €5.10 for a cheap cappuccino? Not with me. E-mail remains unanswered, phone call is blocked - advert comes. Because it's disgusting to remove people, and I think the boss feels this burden because he wasn't able to offer a solution on site today - rather he was nervous and a little out of it.

We celebrated my aunt's 70th birthday there. Great and impressive ambience, the service was excellent. Very nice, helpful and nice staff. The food was sooo good and delicious! We had the pan for 2 people - a bit of everything - 🤤 even though we were really full, we couldn't leave any spaetzle left because it was so delicious. We will definitely come again. The terrace was very inviting and just lovely to enjoy in the summer! There is also a playground for the children right next door, so they can keep themselves busy.

Unfriendly and overwhelmed staff. In addition, the outdoor area doesn't seem particularly hygienic - but that was partly due to the sweaty waiter. Especially in the food sector you should pay attention to a neat appearance. For the price, it's definitely something for tourists/walk-in customers, but the uninformed can be fooled into at least a one-off visit. Fortunately, there is really good Swabian cuisine in Esslingen's city center that you can try. I also find the positive reviews here compared to the 3.7 on Tripadvisor strange. Let's see how long my rating lasts ;)

Wenn man kein Bio- Deutscher ist, wird man hier nicht gerne gesehen und wird mit respektlosem Personal konfrontiert, das mit abfälligen Gesten kommuniziert. Klassisches Beispiel für unsere Neidgesellschaft. Außerdem machte die Terrasse einen schmutzigen und verwahrlosten Eindruck.

Lassen Sie sich von den schönen Bildern auf der Homepage nicht beeindrucken. Hier sieht es ganz anders aus. Wenn man den Chef darauf anspricht, dann wird er richtig unverschämt und pampig und beleidigt einen auf einer anderen Sprache. Einfach nur Unterirdisch! Das Essen hat uns auch nicht geschmeckt und an dem Glas meiner Frau war noch der Lippenstift von jemand anderem dran. Einfach nur Ekelhaft. Aber auch diese Kritik hat der Chef nur arrogant abgewunken. Echt schade was aus dem Trödler geworden ist. Wir waren immer gerne hier, aber da kann man definitiv nicht mehr hin gehen. Schade!

He refused to allow us to use his toilet even though the public toilets were closed. The "boss" (as he called himself) rudely sent us out with "diggga goes" and also rejected our offer to pay something for the toilet. He found it more acceptable that we pee wildly in front of the restaurant🤷🏼‍♂️

In addition, the portions were generous, so that the price-performance ratio was completely convincing. What should also be highlighted is the extraordinary attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, whose excellent service ensured that the waiting time was only short. Unfortunately, the wrong inserts were received, but they were delivered quickly and without any problems. Good home cooking. Toilet in the basement, bad for people with walking difficulties, you also need a code that you get in the restaurant, so go back up the stairs :-(

The entertainment was really good. But don't go hungry. Flädle soup and salad fill you up long before good food arrives. Unfortunately, the jousting buffet no longer has anything to do with knight's food as we knew it. Watery beer and mead on an allotment then round off the menu.

Since the change in ownership, many improvements have been noticed compared to before. The entire team is super friendly! Everyone, even the cook, takes time for the guests. The atmosphere (especially in the run-up to Christmas) is wonderful. The large terrace is great in summer and there is a cozy atmosphere inside. The food is a 10 out of 10. We feel very comfortable here and come here regularly to eat. This is also the right place to celebrate special occasions. It was empty but we waited 50 min for our food (5 persons) Appetizers were not given earlier but with the main course. The fries and food in general was very oily, the schnitzel was just ok but it looked fried. Kinda expensive if you know the quality of the food. On the good side, you have a great view and the decorations are very cozy inside. Would I visit again? No.
