Unfriendly and overwhelmed staff. In addition, the outdoor area doesn't seem particularly hygienic - but that was partly due to the sweaty waiter. Especially in the food sector you should pay attention to a neat appearance. For the price, it's definitely something for tourists/walk-in customers, but the uninformed can be fooled into at least a one-off visit. Fortunately, there is really good Swabian cuisine in Esslingen's city center that you can try. I also find the positive reviews here compared to the 3.7 on Tripadvisor strange. Let's see how long my rating lasts ;)

Lassen Sie sich von den schönen Bildern auf der Homepage nicht beeindrucken. Hier sieht es ganz anders aus. Wenn man den Chef darauf anspricht, dann wird er richtig unverschämt und pampig und beleidigt einen auf einer anderen Sprache. Einfach nur Unterirdisch! Das Essen hat uns auch nicht geschmeckt und an dem Glas meiner Frau war noch der Lippenstift von jemand anderem dran. Einfach nur Ekelhaft. Aber auch diese Kritik hat der Chef nur arrogant abgewunken. Echt schade was aus dem Trödler geworden ist. Wir waren immer gerne hier, aber da kann man definitiv nicht mehr hin gehen. Schade!

We were up here at the castle for a surprise 70th birthday. Everything was very nicely prepared. The surprise was a great success. He refused to allow us to use his toilet even though the public toilets were closed. The "boss" (as he called himself) rudely sent us out with "diggga goes" and also rejected our offer to pay something for the toilet. He found it more acceptable that we pee wildly in front of the restaurant🤷🏼‍♂️

This extremely romantic restaurant is located in the picturesque setting of a castle complex and impresses with its wonderful atmosphere and inviting ambience. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful view of the castle's inner courtyard. The dishes were not only presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner, but also demonstrated fresh preparation and loving hand. Served warm, the food impressed with its extremely good taste. In addition, the portions were generous, so that the price-performance ratio was completely convincing. What should also be highlighted is the extraordinary attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, whose excellent service ensured that the waiting time was only short. This experience was a complete success and made us feel extremely comfortable. Our heartfelt thanks go to the entire team. Conclusion: A culinary experience for all senses.

Unfortunately, the wrong inserts were received, but they were delivered quickly and without any problems. Good home cooking. Toilet in the basement, bad for people with walking difficulties, you also need a code that you get in the restaurant, so go back up the stairs :-(

I had lunch with Korean friends. The castle squadrons have been fired up nicely. The food was very tasty and filling. You sit well and the service is very helpful.

The service was unprofessional, and the lack of courtesy was shocking. Instead of addressing our concerns or even basic pleasantries, we were met with dismissive attitudes that left us feeling unwelcome. We are definitely never going back!

The entertainment was really good. But don't go hungry. Flädle soup and salad fill you up long before good food arrives. Unfortunately, the jousting buffet no longer has anything to do with knight's food as we knew it. Watery beer and mead on an allotment then round off the menu.

Since the change in ownership, many improvements have been noticed compared to before. The entire team is super friendly! Everyone, even the cook, takes time for the guests. The atmosphere (especially in the run-up to Christmas) is wonderful. The large terrace is great in summer and there is a cozy atmosphere inside. The food is a 10 out of 10. We feel very comfortable here and come here regularly to eat. This is also the right place to celebrate special occasions. We look forward to many evenings to come with the new team from the junk dealer at the castle! Keep it up! M. & D.

We went to a junk dealer's on a Saturday evening. Service and food were top. We had a lot of fun and everything was as you would expect a dinner with friends to be.

It was empty but we waited 50 min for our food (5 persons) Appetizers were not given earlier but with the main course. The fries and food in general was very oily, the schnitzel was just ok but it looked fried. Kinda expensive if you know the quality of the food. On the good side, you have a great view and the decorations are very cozy inside. Would I visit again? No.

You are welcomed with a smile and without obligation to speak the language of the country (English recommended for ease if you are frustrated with German) by pleasant and caring staff, present without being intrusive. Ambiance good, service bad, long waiting times, overwhelmed. I had ordered food when all the other guests' food arrived and I was told my food was out and I had to choose another one... that is, everyone had eaten and I waited 15 minutes. It was given incorrectly when paying. The menu was moldy and only stayed there because of the hungry children. Food was generally not good, steak was completely dry, grilled sausage was burnt, was cooked very heavily with flavor enhancers, children didn't eat their food. A complete failure in terms of food and service

The food was first class, the ambience and service were great, the location, the Uhrigen Castle, is simply great. Food absolutely delicious and definitely worth the money! We were able to celebrate our wedding with Jürgen and his team with around 70 guests. We couldn't have wished for a better location, the atmosphere in the beer garden was fantastic, the food was wonderful and the service team not only looked after us as the bride and groom, but also all the guests, so that we all felt completely at home. Even weeks later we still receive enthusiastic news about how wonderful the celebration there was!!! Thank you so much to all of you!

20 years of junk selling in Esslingen Castle. This used to be one of our favorite addresses when we wanted to treat ourselves to game or just something special. Also before a concert in Stuttgart. But unfortunately it happened more and more often that we were greeted with "Please eat quickly, many guests have requested" despite having a reservation. A very bad performance. - As good (and expensive) as the food is here, cozy hospitality is different. Very unfortunate. This means we are happy to forego the deer goulash for our anniversary.

Spontaneously went by with thirsty, tired children to explore the castle in Esslingen and was not disappointed! I was greeted and served in a super friendly and accommodating manner when I showed up alone with 3 children. Lunch was great value for money - huge schnitzel, with fries and a mixed salad, €12.90 and really incredibly tasty! Everything is obviously homemade (including potato salad), fresh and really big portions! It's almost unheard of since Corona - but apparently you can actually still dine like a knight at the castle. ☺️ I've already agreed with friends that we have to come for dinner soon. I'm looking forward to being able to taste the rest of the menu.

We went there for dinner several times. The service was inattentive, the food was extremely salty and barely edible last time. There is a nice view from the terrace, but inside it is less inviting and quite cool in winter...

Apart from the fact that the setting and the location in the castle between old walls and restored cannons in the countryside is simply brilliant, the hospitality was of the finest quality. The food was super tasty and everything was fresh and on point. The service also left nothing to be desired. Super cool people, courteous and on the ball. Nothing was missing and it was a lovely day and evening.

We had dinner here with a larger group of 12 people on a Wednesday. When we were greeted, we were told that there was only one waiter working in service and that it might take a little longer. He really did his job very well and exuded a calmness even in stressful situations that is sometimes missing in other restaurants when they are significantly less busy. For dinner I had the Swabian plate, which is currently on the menu for the anniversary. In addition to spaetzle, a small schnitzel, a Maultaschen, pork loin and a minced steak were served here. Unfortunately, the schnitzel was fried for far too long and was almost black in some places. Overall, the food was okay, but didn't really blow me away. There are better Swabian restaurants in Esslingen.

A very nice restaurant in the historic castle. From the beer garden you have a wonderful view of the castle. The food is also quite good, but I find the prices very expensive. You pay almost 5 euros for a Hefeweizen from Beissinger. The staff is usually very friendly, although unfortunately there are exceptions. All in all, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

The food was way too salty and the service was ignorant. Unfortunately there was no response to our criticism. The prices for this are clearly too high. A pity! We won't be coming back.

Be careful with the number of cards, especially with the gentleman who is a bit darker (dark hair, slightly stable) - he is also the only one who pays by card - it is said that it actually costs 20.20 euros. If you say you don't want to pay by card, you just have to wait a moment and the device will be brought. It will be a higher amount for me, 22 euros, so 1.80 more! He holds the device so cleverly that the amount he has typed is not visible while you hold out his card. Seems like he's had practice. We drank 2 times coffee, 1 poppy seed cake, 1 strawberry cake and 1 yeast wheat. That's a NOGO!! Otherwise the place, the ambience is great and the other team members of the service are great.
