I went on a Saturday night and, although I didn't have a reservation, they managed to squeeze me in. The waiter was super nice and I honestly think I had one of the best pizzas of my life. Definitely going back!

We love this restaurant, the pizza is the best I've ever eaten and the service is always perfect... yeah, okay it could be a little bit cleaner but that's complaining at the highest level! Just keep it up!!!

*Incredible* pizza, good portions for price, flavorful tomato sauce, and perfect crust. The tuna salad was also a substantial portion and was much more of a meal than the average salad at a restaurant would be. The natural wine was also delicious. Very much recommend. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options too

Without any doubt, my favourite pizzeria in Berlin. And being 100% italian I have an INCREDIBLY HIGH STANDARD for pizza. Do you want the proof? Go super simple, and ask the marinara (that no, FOR GOD SAKE - does not have any fish if not - every now and then - 1 anchovy in the center!!). and ask for marinara with extra tomato sauce. It's absolute perfection. Pizza must be simple: good ingredients, a good dough (the MOTHER is a must!), a good oven, and lots of love. Here, you get them all! Bravissimi! (And, btw, prices as they are supposed to be! Davvero persone per bene!).

Mater is simply “the best pizzeria I’ve ever been (just to say, I’m Italian so I know how a pizza should be). The food is like a sweet embrace, the menu is really various and all of the pizzas really worth a try. The staff it’s the core of the place, it’s just lovely and kind and always welcoming even when the place it’s full. Mater is definitely recommended for a true Italian pizza experience!

Came here during the euros, can’t talk highly enough of the food, best thing we ate all during the trip. Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, especially the small bald fella. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area

Incredible pizza in a cool area. Visited here with two friends while passing through Berlin. Between us we tried three of the pizzas, all of which were excellent. Even though the restaurant was busy, the waiter was incredibly attentive. Highly recommended.

The Italian restaurant can be criticized in many ways. The ambience is relatively dark and the outside area is uninviting due to construction work. The prices of the food are high and the preparation time also takes too long even though the restaurant was not full. The atmosphere is relatively dark. Despite the extremely long wait for preparation, the quality of the food was excellent. I can say that it was one of my best food and pizza experiences in Berlin. Unfortunately, when rating the restaurant, I only have to give it 3 stars because the deficiencies clearly outweigh the problems and we didn't even ask during the entire meal whether everything was OK or whether we needed anything. I give these 3 stars solely for the quality of the food. Payment is also possible at the table but at the cash register and card payments only from 20 euros. If you only care about the quality of the food, this restaurant could be a suitable choice, but definitely don't expect even average service. The service and staff are just terrible!

Easily the best pizzeria in Berlin by far! From the absolute delicious pizza to the super friendly staff that welcomes you and maintains a great eating experience. Highly suggest the Ortolana pizza,as for the wine just ask them for a recommendation,they never ever dissatisfied me.The ingredients and the wine comes straight from regions of Italy so I’m definitely putting them as a number one in the city! 🤌🏻👌🏻

Had the Salsiccia e Friarelli pizza. It was pretty good; flavours and ingredients easily 4/5. Dough tasted good but was in general firmer than what I'm used to from a true pizza napoletana. Service was alright but stayed in the background and it felt almost like self service at times as I had to seek the attention of staff each time we needed something to drink, have plates cleared, order a dessert or pay. Despite this, recommended and worth visiting!

Visited on 06.08.2024 Even though the pizza was of good quality, I didn’t have any appetite anymore after being confronted by the extreme nervosity of the pizza chef. We all make mistakes, and I wanted to do a picture of the oven and kitchen setting: the pizzaiolo got very nervous and said that it wasn't allowed. I totally understand and would have apologised, but he continued insisting and then complaining with his colleague in Italian: still throwing some looks at us during our dinner. (Please note that the restaurant has an open kitchen) I found it very unwelcoming and almost aggressive. It really ruined our evening and we won't return back to this restaurant. Better go to a restaurant with some standard of courtesy towards the customers. Our biggest mistake was to have dinner there. N.B: we would advise the restaurant to put a note "No photo/no video" on its counter instead of being so rude.

Amazing pizzeria and excellent service! The staff is super welcoming and the ingredients are truly Italian and fully respect the tradition (we are Italian). We had dinner there couple of days ago and we would definitely come back on our next trip to Berlin. Grazie mille! 🙏🏻

Very badly. First, they treated us in a very despicable way. We waited a long time sitting at a table on the street and seeing that they had no intention of asking what we wanted to eat, we went to another pizzeria. We will not return.

Great Napolitana pizza from a proper wood fire pizza oven. Nice vibe, cool decor, always friendly service. The parmigiana pizza was amazing. Unfortunately only a weekly special, I hope they’ll make it permanent on the menu!

I felt like in a Italian Family, the amazing quality of the food and the Pizza is really light so that you can eat 2 of them . To end with a nice Wine and a cheers with the service that are always spinning around to keep everyone happy :)

Great pizza! And an excellent Pugliese salad too. Sister restaurant to La Bolognina nearby which has the pasta. This place has the pizza: Neapolitan style. There are some innovations on the menu: 3 piece pizza on tomato base, or on mozzarella. Blanco o Rosso. Good wines with a 50cl carafe, anti-pasti are simple pizza dough bites and one or two desserts. Seating outside, quiet street, but building is under scaffolding. Can be a bit noisy inside. Good music, nice helpful staff.

Having been at mater for dinner a couple of times, we reached out and asked whether it was possible to celebrate our birthday as a private event at the restaurant. It was possible and we couldn't have been happier. Leading up to the party, we coordinated things with Linda who was super flexible, professional and helpful. The party itself was a blast, all our guests loved it. The food was amazing, the drinks were great and the entire team created a super relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Can only recommend, both, "just for dinner" or for having a party here.

Cozy small restaurant, perfect for small groups or couples. Starters and pizzas were great, and the staff was very friendly! I will come again!

Ordered a Capricciosa pizza via Wolt. Thin crust, great tomato sauce, fresh ingredients, prompt delivery. No problems whatsoever.

The absolute highlight is the fried pizza dough (I only tried the “classic” version with tomato sauce), but the pizzas themselves are also really good. Overall, the service was super friendly and attentive without seeming artificial. Just nice. Praise to the waiter. Gladly again.

Very, very tasty pizza and the service staff always had a friendly smile when you entered. We usually get the pizza “To Go”, as it is prepared quickly but of course it is best served hot directly in the Mater itself. Tonight there is pizza!

Absolutely amazing place for pizza! By far, the best pizza I've had in my life, other than the ones in Italy. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want great pizza. Cool video in a cool part of town. Service was exceptional and our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke both English and Italian very well. I wish I could remember his name but you know who you are! We will definitely return on our next trip to Berlin.

Posto bello, gente bella, pizza buona, musica fantastica. I ragazzi che gestiscono il posto sono molto alla mano e il cameriere inglese parla perfettamente italiano e tedesco e ha degli ottimi gusti musicali. I prezzi sono molto buoni soprattutto comparati agli eccessi di Berlino. C‘abbiamo passato una bella serata di mezz‘estate e consigliamo a tutti di passarci.

Real deal awesome Pizza! What I would call the "classic" style I carry in my heartfelt memories and that it's quite hard to find in Berlin's pizza paradise. Although it might be quite a satisfactory meal for most, it's light enough to leave space for a montanarina, which is a taste explosion! If you like tiramisù, here you have a delightful homemade one at hand... Beside the efficient service provided, the owner is also a kind person and he took the time to answer questions about their pizza and their concept. All together, in a cozy but still spacious enough environment. Total pleasure! Period. UPDATE Because excellence must be praised! First time I try "prosciutto e funghi" here... first time I try a white "prosciutto e funghi"... my favourite pizza here so far - I haven't tried them all yet - best "prosciutto e funghi" in a lifetime!!! I can taste the passion, they make us feel like their most awaited customers, they look like they're having fun while they're delivering so much, top notch Italian quality in a Berlin style environment... if you love pizza (and Berlin) try this one!
