Matador in Potsdam

We were almost the only guests but were served very politely and quickly. Food and price/performance great.

I'm still stunned. I had dinner with my children (12 and 10) this evening and I rarely take the time to write reviews like this, but today I would like to generally criticize the “Matador” restaurant. For the children's steak plate (approx. 15€), my children each received a small piece of meat similar to a tangerine, which was also completely charred (my entrecôte looked exactly the same and tasted the same!). There was also what felt like a handful of fries . After paying, we went straight to the Döner Bistro XXL and it was worth it and gets a separate, positive recommendation. !!! To everyone who is visiting P and wants meat... go to “Adriatic” or “Taverns To Steki”! You get good quality and normal portions, even for children.

We ate at the classic lunchtime (12:30 p.m.), service was good, but you should pay a little more attention to whether the guests still have something to drink. Or ask why two plates were still quite full when they were cleared away. Unfortunately, 2 of the burgers were cold and the noodles were slightly burnt.

Everything was great, 1A. Meat high quality, tender and tasty. I'm happy to recommend it.

In a group of 5 people, we ordered 5 different dishes—burger, tapas, salad, pizza, and steak. Unfortunately, none of them were delicious. On top of that, they were poorly cooked and carelessly prepared. At first glance, the restaurant gives the impression of being Spanish, but they hardly serve any Spanish food. The tapas (5 Boiled baby potatoes, olives, garlic mayo, cheese, 2 mushrooms filled with something, and two small dips (not sure what they were) for 24 euros ) were one of the few Spanish items on the menu, and even those were done in the worst possible way. The non-vegetarian tapas were only different from the vegetarian ones because two mushrooms were served with a small piece of chorizo. The pizza tasted more like a super salty frozen pizza than something freshly made. The burger patty was filled with unpleasant, chewy bits of meat (inedible part of meat) , and it was overloaded with bread and lacked quality overall. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and strongly suggest they improve the quality of the food they serve.

Highly recommended! My friend and I visited on a Friday evening, the restaurant was full, but the service was still very fast. The restaurant offers a nice ambience and the service is top. Employees are totally friendly towards customers and each other. The steak and pasta were 10/10.

We just had a drink on the beautiful sun terrace in front of the Brandenburg Gate. Service very friendly and accommodating. Drink prices moderate, card payment possible. There is also a very nice atmosphere inside with a view of the kitchen through a glass pane. Next time we will definitely eat something here.

We made a short-term reservation today. The desired spot by the window was difficult 😅, but was taken into account. The service was great! Although the restaurant was packed, we were served quickly and there was time for a few nice words. The food was also very tasty. We can particularly highly recommend the tapas platter. All in all: a successful evening. Many thanks to the team!

Auf der Suche nach einem guten Restaurant mit Steaks im Angebot, sind wir im Matador fündig geworden. Sehr nettes Personal, sehr aufmerksam! Das Steak war super auf den Punkt gebraten, sogar Pfifferlinge konnte man dazu bestellen. Man sitzt hier auf der Terrasse einfach toll mit Blick auf das Brandenburger Tor in Potsdam und hat das Geschehen voll im Blick. Klare Empfehlung!

We were in this restaurant once this week and were served extremely well by a young lady...quick, polite and attentive. But today we were taught otherwise. The waiter was full of arrogance... We were surprised that he even moved to our table. After waiting almost half an hour for our drinks we weren't ready to eat. Luckily there are plenty of other places that take our money.

friendly service, delicious food and fair prices. We (3 people) had flank steak, lamb fillet and a lamb pan. We had green beans and fried potatoes with the steaks. Everything was hot, the steaks were medium rare as requested. The tiramisu and creme brulee were delicious. We will come back.

We were on vacation in BRB and therefore also went to Potsdam. After an extensive shopping tour, we stopped there around midday on the very hot summer day to do something to relieve our hunger. The bruschetta and the large salad were very tasty. Price performance recommended. Furthermore, the good location should be emphasized, as the outdoor terrace is in the shade of the house. Very pleasant despite 30 °C.

Around 5 p.m. we came for a drink, and were received in a very unfriendly manner by a waiter, who first pretended not to see us, then after we had challenged him twice, finally turned head towards us to point out that all the tables were reserved. We left very unhappy, and settled in the café across the street. The irony is that an hour later, we observed that all of the reserved tables were still unoccupied waiting for their customers who had still not arrived!

Nice place to enjoy some beers in the heat we had in Potsdam. The food was ok, not more. In the evening, around 9.30pm we wanted some more beers after walking around in Potsdam, but that was not possible. They wanted to close at 9.30pm even though they had several customers that wanted something to drink after walking around in Potsdam. I do not understand why small German cities close their restaurants so early.

Outside of my home Eifel/Rhineland I rarely come across restaurants or bars where I can get Bitburger beer, but that was available here. Therefore five stars. Friendly service and good atmosphere.

Wir hatten heute leider eine sehr erschreckende und enttäuschende Erfahrung im Matador Potsdam. Wir haben eine Bestellung aufgegeben & haben eine Person in der Gruppe dabei, die einige Allergien hat. Demnach hat sie höflich nachgefragt, ob einige wenige Änderungen möglich wären. Der Kellner war höflich und hat alles so entgegnengenommen und uns versichert, dass es kein Problem sei. Als der Burger mit der falschen Soße (zuvor abbestellt) kam, haben wir ihn höflich angesprochen und erneut gefragt, ob eine Änderung möglich wäre. Er nahm widerwillig und sehr energisch den Teller und ging mit den Worten „dann iss doch zu Hause wenn du Allergien hat“ zurück in die Küche. Nach einigen Minuten kam der Teller mit dem „neuen“ Burger mit verbrannten Brötchen und wurde wortlos auf den Tisch geknallt. Danach wurden wir nur auf mehrfache Anfrage hin bedient und haben Minimum 10 Minuten auf Getränke gewartet obwohl nicht viel los war. Auch das Essen war nur mittelmäßig gut. Ich würde das Matador nicht empfehlen und einen weiteren Besuch unsererseits wird es nicht geben.

The steaks here are excellent and you can even get larger ones if you wish (you just have to ask ;) ). Depending on which waiter you have, it can happen that you have to wait a little to be served, which leads me to a point deduction there. The ambience invites you to linger after the main course and you can definitely end the evening there.

Das Steakhaus Matador ist zentral in Potsdam gelegen. Es gibt zahlreiche Außenplätze. Unsere Essen (Nudeln, Pizza, Nachos, Tapas) waren sehr gut. Es gibt auch glutenfreie Speisen. Gut zu empfehlen.

Wir waren heute das 2x in einer Woche hier. Das Essen ist auf den Punkt gebraten und sehr gute Qualität. Die Kellner erfüllen Änderungswünsche und sind kompetent und sehr freundlich.

I am changing my review to a 1 star. Guys; if you don't like to work here, then don't! Customers deserve better service.

Ice cold beer and cool arugula salad with cherry tomatoes!

We ate at Matador today and were inspired by the radio advertising. Unfortunately, we didn't like it. The food was small portions, the steak was not as expected. It's a shame, we wanted to surprise our son for his 20th birthday, he wasn't full at all. A pity. The waiters were nice and the drinks were delicious.

The service was quick and friendly, the food came very quickly, but the patty on the burger wasn't fully cooked and the sweet potato fries weren't ♨. The rump steak was good.

Service not friendlly and poor. Spargel soup was quite cold. The curry wurst was extremelly salty and the tomato sauce was in fact ketchup. Avoid.

It's great to sit outside. The waiters are also very polite and accommodating. But we were able to eat better steak for less money. This was coal black, the pepper sauce was a ready-made sauce which didn't fit the price/performance ratio.

Nice restaurant in a central location right at the Brandenburg Gate in Potsdam. Great service, very good food (garlic bread and baked potato as a starter and currywurst with fries and beef fillet), outside area very nice, inside when you go to the toilet you walk past the large window to the kitchen 😉 - funny, the only point of criticism: the fries were really very small and thin… otherwise always happy again

We were able to use a terrace area when the weather was lovely. Very friendly and competent service (thanks Martin) The food was good. Only the side dishes for the steak were not commensurate with the price. Luckily the steak was big enough.

We arrived with 18 people, sat outside and offered to pick up our drinks at the counter and bring them outside. Condition came outside with drink tickets and refuses us. We just wanted something simple to drink. We had to go. Dear gastronomy, don't complain if you're feeling bad. This store probably doesn't need it. Not recommendable!!!!!!!!!

The waiter was friendly and helpful in explaining the orders. Recommended! The only small issue is the lack of a bar, so the closing time is rather early. Nevertheless, there are many options for alcoholic drinks

We wanted to eat at Matador today as they advertise gluten free burgers on their website. There were no allergens noted on the menu and the allergen menu you received was unfortunately not up to date and completely different burgers were listed there. When I asked whether the burgers were gluten-free, I responded with an unsettled “well, we have gluten-free buns”. The fact that all other ingredients also have to be gluten-free was a surprise to the employee and he couldn't help at all. The only thing he could tell me was that the rolls are not prepared separately from the gluten-containing food. The burgers are by no means gluten-free and the staff are not trained. I wouldn't recommend anyone with any allergies or intolerances to eat there.

Well done steaks for sure. We had various steaks and burgers with several side dishes and everything was well done. The service was very nice. The Gambas lacked a bit of kick. The location is nice and we will definitely come back.

Die Karte erinnert nicht an spanische Küche, Burger??? …. Ich konnte nix für mich finden! Ich bestellte Rucolasalat. Es war Rucola mit 3 Tomaten. Dressing war lecker. Personal war gelangweilt, keine freundliche Ausstrahlung! Nach 25 Minuten war ich weg! Nachbartisch hatte Sex in the Beach bestellt, Ananas als Garnitur war braun angegammelt.

Sehr nett, gutes Essen. Was ich etwas schade fand das ich 2 mal selbst zum Kellner bin um mitzuteilen das wir gerne noch etwas zu trinken möchten. Schön wäre gewesen wenn seitens der Bedienung die Initiative gekommen wäre, Schließlich ist es Umsatz wenn wir mehr bestellen. Ansonsten kann ich das Essen sehr empfehlen, schnell, lecker und preislich angemessen.

War mit einer Kollegin zum Essen verabredet. Haben viel geredet und gut gegessen. Ich bin nicht einheimisch. Sie aber schon und hat gemeint, dass es für den Preis zuwenig gäbe. Für mich war das gut.

Erstmal unser Essen wurde nicht weiter geleitet zur Küche 😕 nach 3/4std. mal nachgefragt, das Steak wurde zwar erlassen, aber dafür war es auch nur lauwarm 😲

Wer beim Essen Tuchfühlung mit dem Nachbarn mag, fühlt sich in diesem Lokal mit 6 Personen an einem 4er-Tisch wieder. Überschaubare Portionen. Blockhouse ist halt Blockhouse.

Wir hatten hier einen Wunderschönen Abend, mit leckerem Essen und super Service! Das Restaurant liegt direkt am Brandenburger Tor, bei schönem Wetter kann man auch draußen sitzen. Parken kann man im Parkhaus am Luisenplatz, gleich auf der anderen Straßenseite.
