One of my favorite restaurants in Hanover. Lovely atmosphere, friendly service, and very good Afghan food. Dogs are allowed :)

We were there on Saturday evening with 12 people. The menu listed four mantos, but only three were served. The schnitzel didn't come with the promised salad. Furthermore, several dishes were charged at higher prices than indicated on the menu. Overall, unfortunately, too expensive.

Delicious Kabili. The rice goes well with the raisins.

The staff was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and angry. The food was cold, and I will never again spend my money on such terrible food. 🤮🤮🤮

An absolute must for anyone wanting to experience Algerian cuisine. It's always best to make a reservation. The restaurant is often very busy. The food is incredibly delicious. You can sit on the "divan" (a traditional sofa) or at a nice table. It was a truly wonderful evening, and we ordered a large appetizer platter. Definitely an experience.

Absolutely delicious. We had kabuli, daal, and chaka. The lamb was incredibly tender and soft. We'd love to come back. Very cozy with a seating area.

A great, authentic atmosphere with a comfortable seating area. The dishes were delicious and well-prepared. All in all, there was nothing to complain about. A wide selection of dishes, including beginner-friendly options for European guests. The value for money was exceptionally good. The portions are truly generous. A visit here is highly recommended.

The food in this restaurant is bad and the service is abysmal. Even the waiter at the conference was rude to me when I asked for a Doogh.

All the food you can see in the other pictures is really tasty. Even the pasta has its own unique flavor that makes it the most delicious pasta I’ve ever tried in a non-Italian restaurant.

The food was truly excellent; we had Kabili and Mantu, both incredibly delicious and freshly prepared. Absolutely top-notch in terms of taste! Unfortunately, the service was somewhat inattentive. My ordered sauce was forgotten, and no one checked on me to see if everything was alright. A shame, otherwise I could have mentioned it right away. In conclusion: Food excellent, service could be improved.

Fantastic food, but the ambiance could be improved I ate at Masa with a group of friends and absolutely loved the food. The Afghan specialties were fresh, very aromatic, and simply delicious! Five stars for that. However, I have to honestly say that the location itself was a bit disappointing. The decor unfortunately seemed a bit lackluster, poor, and cold. There's definitely room for improvement to match the atmosphere to the excellent food. In conclusion: If you value authentic and excellent Afghan cuisine, this is the place for you. If you're looking for a cozy and stylish ambiance, you'll have to make some compromises. But I'd still happily return for the food!

Four of us ate at Masa on a Saturday evening. The outdoor area, with a small waterfall and lots of greenery, looks very beautiful. We sat outside because they also provide blankets to keep us warm. The food was overall okay: the highlight was the Kabuli rice and the Dubai dessert. Unfortunately, some dishes were served in chipped plates, which is a no-go in my opinion in a restaurant... What really brought the evening down, however, was the poor, almost nonexistent service. One young waitress in particular, with long black hair and equally long nails, seemed like she couldn't be bothered. Please find another job if you don't like being around people! We tried what felt like a thousand times throughout the evening to get our attention, but the waiters barely looked in our direction, instead serving other guests outside. After 30 minutes, we went looking for a waiter ourselves. The young, grumpy woman completely ignored our raised hands and rushed past us to call it a night. We didn't feel welcome. We wouldn't visit this restaurant again.

The hot meal should be enjoyed by many Chinese people. The soft rice is paired with the sweet shredded carrots, which is very refreshing. For drinks, you can try Dogh, which is different from the yogurt drinks you drink every day. One cup of Dogh is too much for one person to drink.

We sat outside and were forgotten several times. The waitress was rather annoyed by our presence. The food was OK. A bit lackluster, but OK. The soup was the highlight.

There was practically no wait between ordering and receiving the food, and the staff was very friendly. Personally, I found it a bit overpriced, but otherwise everything was perfect.

A lovely and light evening, but by the end I was feeling heavy because I was so stuffed! We opted for lots of tapas, which were conveniently arranged on a large platter and were all delicious. The wine and beer were well chilled, and my cocktail was perfect. We'll be back ❤️

Very tasty food, at least to a layperson, seems authentic. The ambiance is great. Plus points for the fact that they serve beer and a cocktail happy hour. A minor downside for Bavarian visitors would be that they don't know what a "Helles" is.

The restaurant is located in an inconspicuous courtyard, and the outdoor area is a green oasis in the middle of the city center. We were there on a rather hot day, but the shady plants made it very pleasant. The food was delicious and highly recommended. Thanks for a lovely time!

The overall concept was quite disappointing: - untrained, unprofessional staff, a completely confusing menu, at least a third of which had nothing to do with Afghan cuisine, and some of it was even prepared incorrectly. The soup (Aash) had nothing in common with Persian Aash, and the mantu pockets were made so enormous for the sake of simplicity that you wouldn't find them in any Afghan household. It was only when I was paying that they asked if everything was okay, and when I said no, I received only dirty looks and no apology, let alone a discount. I think a lot of people only go there for the low prices for food and the cheap alcohol...

The food at this restaurant is really delicious.Only 5*. The only problem is that when you are not familiar with Afghani cuisine the waiters there can't help (though was in our case) or maybe they can't explain it in German:( In any case,we will come again:)

Even though Masa is located in the heart of the city, it's very quiet and beautiful outside, and the interior of the restaurant is partly reminiscent of an Afghan restaurant. I was a bit surprised when I discovered schnitzel among the main courses—well, there's something for everyone, after all. 🤔

Getränke und Essen haben auf sich warten lassen. 1 kleines Glas Leitungswasser wurde mit 90 cent berechnet. Der Spinat bei dem einen Gericht war versalzen, leicht angerannt und schmeckte wie mehrmals aufgewärmt, er sah optisch eher aus wie Grünkohl. Der Hauch an Tomatendeko schmeckte nach Fertigsauce. Das andere Gericht wurde auf einem angeschlagen Teller serviert, schmeckte fad und war lieblos mit Trocken Kräutern bestreut. Auf unsere Kretik wurde nicht angemessen reagiert, sondern erwidert, das wir die Ersten seien, denen es nicht geschmeckt hat.

It's actually a real shame, I was happy to go to the restaurant, but it was a total disappointment, I ordered something nice after only 30 minutes, the drinks came, after more than an hour the food finally came, you wait for an incredibly long time, a star rating from me

Away from the city, in a quiet courtyard there is a peaceful terrace. Inside a corner covered with oriental rugs. Warm and local atmosphere, inexpensive.

Food good, price performance is right. Cleanliness in the restaurant OK. I didn't use the toilet. Masa Burger leg of lamb and jackets very tasty. Fresh salad. I wanted 2 more coffees after dinner, which easily took 3/4 hours as the restaurant was moderately full, despite saying it twice. Service very understaffed. Ordering didn't work the first time because it was probably a new employee. There were too many savings. Tables very small for the large plates that are served on. It's a shame otherwise there would have been more stars.

The food wasn't fresh and didn't taste good at all and it was served cold. I had diarrhea after eating. 🤢 Service also unfriendly! I'll never come back, I don't recommend it.

I ordered the Kabili with lamb. The meat was very dark, extremely salty and seemed like it had been warmed up - not fresh. When I asked for hot sauce, it was simply brought to me without any indication of additional costs. What happened next was a nightmare: Hours later, my friend and I both had severe stomach pains and diarrhea. At that time I couldn't determine the cause. I didn't finish the whole dish at lunchtime, I just took the rest out of the fridge in the evening and warmed it up. After that it really started – yellow, watery diarrhea, constant trips to the toilet, no chance to go out at all. We're actually in Hanover for a tournament - but my day was completely ruined, with a hot water bottle and stuck on the toilet. Really a horror. I hope that the responsible authorities will take a closer look here.

The meal was actually quite delicious, but the waiter's behavior was a no-go for us. At Masa, you can add a small selection from the "Small Items" list to your main course. The combo price then includes a certain discount. Our favorite spinach dumplings, "Sambosa Sabsi," weren't listed as a possible additional "side dish" under the main course. We spoke to the waiter about it, and he told us that they couldn't be combined, but he could make an exception and bill them together. We were then served the main course along with two (!) small spinach dumplings on one plate. Then, when we got the bill, we were surprised: the two small spinach dumplings were billed separately and at full price (€8.50). When the manager (?) confronted his employee, the waiter acted as if everyone had already realized that the full price would be charged and avoided a conversation with us. So what was the exception, which isn't normally possible? Apparently, it was that instead of two plates, you get both on one...

Unfortunately, I was dissatisfied with my visit. The service was unfriendly and inattentive, and everything took a very long time. The waitress brought me a small water instead of a large one and argued instead of correcting the mistake. Unfortunately not a good experience.

We waited >1h for our food (we were told 30 min.). The waiter didn't ask us if we wanted to drink something. Neither at the beginning nor while we waited for the food. Service definitely needs to be be improved. The food was average.

I ordered chicken with salad. The meal was very small. It consisted of 100 grams of lettuce and just 60 grams of chicken and, at a price of 16.99 euros, is not worth more than 2 euros.

Very good food and great ambience. If the weather is good, I recommend sitting outside. Even though you are in the middle of the city, it is pleasantly quiet.

You can try it out, but unfortunately I don't think the price-performance ratio is right. Kabuli of the same quality in Frankfurt for almost half the price, the Mango Lassi was unfortunately borderline. In any case, there is still some room for improvement.

I had the pleasure of visiting this fantastic restaurant in Hanover and I absolutely love it! As soon as I entered I felt the warm and inviting atmosphere. The furnishings were stylish and cozy, so you immediately felt at home. The food was simply amazing! Every bite was a taste experience. The dishes were freshly prepared, beautifully presented and a real highlight in terms of taste. I was particularly impressed by the variety and quality of the food. The service was also excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive and made us feel welcome. My sisters and I felt completely comfortable. All in all it was an unforgettable experience. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and am already looking forward to my next visit. Simply mega, mega delicious and a place you'll love to be!

Dieses Restaurant kann ich niemandem empfehlen: Das Ambiente ist unterirdisch! Wir saßen in einer Halle mit einem Charme zwischen Bahnhofshalle und Leichenschauhaus. Als ich dort ankam, traute ich meinen Augen nicht: Man sitzt dort unter Neonlicht über grauem Vinylfußboden an Tischen mit verstreuten einzelnen Plastikblüten. Nur scheußlich! Ich war mit einer Gruppe dort und bekam mein Essen, nachdem alle anderen bereits fertig mit essen waren. Der Service war komplett überfordert, auch an den anderen Tischen. Hoffentlich nie wieder.

For a room that is otherwise empty, we sat with 5 people. Didn't make a mess, didn't eat or drink anything. Then we would be told. If we want to do this again we have to pay 220 euros in room rent. Extra service. Too much effort. Food was okay.

We had a lovely evening at Masa. The food was, apart from the burger, which was a bit dry and not really a burger, just a meatball... Otherwise very tasty. Everything was explained to us very well by the service and everyone was very polite and friendly. The furnishings are a bit simple, so you actually felt like you were on vacation. It seemed authentic. We felt comfortable.

We had dinner there with twelve colleagues for the Christmas party. First we would all be seated at a fake table that was far too small. After an additional table was added upon request, the staff discovered that our actual table was different and we had to move to another room again. It was very uncomfortable there. Unfortunately, most of us found the food to be very average. Next time we'll eat somewhere else.

Masa has been my absolute favorite restaurant for over 20 years. Whenever I'm in Hanover, it's an absolute must to go there. The Afghan food tastes 100% “like my mother’s” and just as I, as an Afghan, know it from home. Anyone who wants to taste authentic Afghan cuisine should definitely go. Must order: Kabili, Aschak or Mantu. The prices are decent and absolutely fair. If I could, I would give it 10 stars! Thank you, dear Masa team, for giving me back a piece of my childhood through you!

Get involved...I really like to eat well seasoned food, so it wasn't really my thing...Salt and pepper were missing in the food and also on the table...good selection of starters, very nice staff, value for money in any case top....
