Markthalle Neun in Berlin

On March 22 Markthalle Neun is partnering in an event that openly advocates for boycotting Israeli Jewish food producers. I have always loved coming here and it’s sad to see the venue openly embracing such a divisive event that separates people rather than brings together through food.

Markthalle Neun is a really interesting food market with a great mix of vendors. You’ll find everything from a flower shop, bakery and butcher to small restaurants and international food stalls. It’s a great place to walk around, try different cuisines and discover new products. The atmosphere is lively and authentic, with lots of locals coming here to shop, eat and spend time. Whether you’re looking for fresh ingredients or just want to try a few different dishes in one place, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Markthalle Neun is a really interesting food market with a lot of potential, but timing definitely matters. I went on a Friday evening expecting more of the stalls and restaurants to be open, but surprisingly many were already closed by around 7pm. That said, the market itself is still worth visiting. The produce, meats, and specialty products across the different stalls all looked incredibly fresh and high quality. It has that authentic European market feel where you can tell the ingredients are taken seriously. I did find an Italian spot that was still open, and the food there was excellent — simple, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Even though many places were closing, the quality of what was still available made the visit worthwhile. Overall, it seems like Markthalle Neun is probably best experienced earlier in the day or during one of their food events. If you time it right, it looks like it could be an amazing place to explore.

We went on a Thursday and we have to say the international food market is definitely worth a visit. The prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere is great, and there are plenty of options to share, try different dishes, and enjoy the experience. Everything we tried was delicious, homemade, and freshly prepared.

Delicious treats! So many tasty delights all in one place. From sweet to savory and super international. Card payments accepted everywhere. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Nice for a stroll, but extremely overpriced...

Small portions at high prices. Unfortunately, most of the stalls are closed at lunchtime. A few years ago, it was a much better experience in the evenings. I won't be coming at lunchtime anymore.

Nice, crowded, but interesting and very traditional stalls. Where else can you get Pad Thai or mango with sticky rice? I didn't eat anything, though.

Bustling, but not overcrowded. Lots of interesting products to take away or eat right away. A diverse crowd ranging from tourists to locals and residents of the neighborhood. A bit more expensive than a normal market, but with organic produce, including items from Brandenburg farmers.

A large hall with various stalls inside, whose "sustainable" focus is reflected in their prices. However, it has nothing to do with the market hall culture found, for example, in France.

Mega nice, super Location Finger Food

A great selection of international dishes – there's truly something for everyone. We were there in the early evening, but it was very crowded and unfortunately we couldn't get a seat. Nevertheless, it had a great atmosphere and was definitely worth a visit. We'll certainly be back!

A place that is definitely worth visiting.

Really cool place to try street food on Thursdays. The highlight there is the cheese festival. It is definitely a must visit in Berlin..however, the cost has doubled from last year which made it too expensive. The place itself is big but can get super crowded. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great.

You can always find something cute to eat; you can sit there comfortably for a while and enjoy yourself.

At Le Fettschmaker, you absolutely must try the toast made with cured meat and cheese.

Market Hall 9 used to be a great place for foodies. Now everything there has become far too expensive; it's no longer really recommended.

A great place to relax in the sun and enjoy pasta and ice cream in the afternoon. The atmosphere is relaxed and very pleasant. It evokes exactly the feeling you want when walking through a market hall and discovering food, colors, and smells. Best of all, without being overly styled. Simple, straightforward, and with a delicious selection.

If more stalls were open, may have been lovelier but what we ate was great. Were recently at Time Out Market in Lisbon that had more going on so I'm a bit spoiled!

I went to the food market with my children on Thursday. It was very diverse and interesting. Seating was unfortunately very limited, but most people were very considerate and polite. We enjoyed it, even though it was a bit pricey for us.

A really great atmosphere, and suitable for children too. It's very inviting and easy to linger. There's something for everyone, whether you're looking for a small snack or a more substantial meal.

We were there at noon today. It was practically empty; besides us, there were only two other customers in the hall. The food stall owners seemed rather uninterested. Only the owner of the small stand in the aisle selling coffee and other things was really friendly. Thank you! Otherwise, the market hall had a rather dingy feel. We didn't think it was worth visiting.

In 2 hours, I was begged for change by 6 people!! Some of them were really cheeky: when my girlfriend happened to have her wallet in her hand, someone said... "You've got it out anyway... just look."

Good variety of food stalls and reasonable priced.

A lovely place to chill, where lots of people drink a lot of wine. It's perfect for that, and you can also get some very tasty food. They also sell natural wine. The only downside is that many stalls close as early as 6 or 7 pm, and we were repeatedly shooed away from our tables. After 7 pm, you can really only chill in one corner of the hall. But otherwise, our time there was wonderful.

Was expecting a bit more tbh. Smaller than I thought especially for the effort to get there.

Food Market A nice place to eat some street food. On Thursdays from 5pm there is a street food fair as well.

It's a lovely local market. Inside, you'll find shops offering a wide variety of food and drinks. There's a children's play area. They also sell Heiden Peter brand craft beer there.

It's not a place that will live up to expectations. You can visit if you're in the area. It's not worth coming just for that.

Perhaps because it was around noon on a weekday, not many shops were open. It looked like a typical European market. It wouldn't be a bad idea to stop by for a stroll if you're visiting the Eastside Gallery, but I wasn't particularly impressed.

Some are friendly and approachable, while others seem rather distant or arrogant. It's really a place you have to like to go to regularly. Overall, an interesting market with potential, but in my opinion, not quite as special as its reputation suggests.

A really lovely market hall with a good mix of stalls selling flowers, vegetables, bread, etc., and various street food vendors. Wine is also available at several stalls. I can recommend the brisket sandwich.

It's a very pleasant indoor market. On Thursdays, stalls offering world cuisines open at 5 PM. The market closes at 10:30 PM, so don't be late. Sundays are breakfast days. On other days, the established mini-shops are open. There are small tables where you can sit and enjoy your food and drinks. It's a place you absolutely must experience, especially on Thursdays.

It’s a big, great food market! There’s a Ukrainian corner. I personally buy kimchi there and it’s some of the best in the city. The beer is amazing too. I love this place.

It really is a spectacle! My second time here, five years ago in October and today 12/31/25, on a trip to Berlin with Pili and Jessica. All good and at a reasonable price, not suitable for those who don't want to live the experience... You can't visit every day, that's for sure! But the quality in a country like Germany is not questioned, you pay for it. I hope I can visit this market over the years. Coming from Campredó, in the south of Catalonia, it's always difficult to get here. A great place to repeat when you can!😉

A great family vibe, fun for a solo market activity, couples, or family! The best of everything in one place.

A backside full of yuppies and transplanted hipsters, but there's Oleo Gustus, old milk, the best kimchi and a handful of other treasures.

We happened to be there on Saturday and were blown away, wow! 👍👍👍 Street food all in one hall, everything from fish to meat and vegan options. Great atmosphere, you have to see it! Unfortunately, we'd already eaten, but now we know what to expect. Highly recommended!
