Marktcafé in Zwickau

Uns wurde der Restaurantbesuch per Gutschein geschenkt. Mit entsprechend positiven Erwartungen sahen wir unserem Mittagessen entgegen. Das Essen war in Ordnung, hätte aber durch den Verzicht auf Convenience-Produkte noch richtig gewinnen können. Die Servicekraft reagierte auf entsprechende Hinweise professionell. Es gab sogar noch einen Kaffee auf das Haus. Das Würzfleisch war riesig dimensioniert und kam sehr schnell, allerdings mit wenig Käse und schon gar nicht überbacken. Leider war die Sauce Hollandaise auf meinem Schweizer Schlemmersteak nur aus dem Tetrapack. Bei meiner Partnerin fanden sich Spuren meiner Soße auch noch plus Schinken in ihrem Steak "au four" wieder. Der Hinweis auf Pilze fehlte ebenso. Man muss auch davon ausgehen, dass Gäste allergisch auf Zutaten sein könnten. Daher ist eine Kennzeichnung unumgänglich. "Au four" heißt auch Kalb. Schweinefleisch muss man anders kommunizieren, dann eben Steak mit Würzfleisch. Beim Salat hätte man mit handwerklichem Geschick vorgefertigte Dressings vermeiden können. Das Ambiente ist einladend. Es gibt eine zweite Chance.

Ich war hier auf einen sehr guten Kaffee und wurde super bedient. Leider war keine 15m von mir entfernt eine Kundgebung der "freien Sachsen". Bei dem Gelaber dieser von Neonazis duchsetzten Gruppierung ist mir der Appetit vergangen. Dafür kann das Lokal nichts, aber sehr schade, dass Zwickau sowas überhaupt zulässt und ich mir davon den wirklich guten Kaffee ruinueren lassen muss. An anderen Tagen kann ichs nur empfehlen.

Wir waren am Abend essen nach einem langen Arbeitstag. Es war innen sehr gemütlich und schön. Außen hätte ich es aufgrund des Weinfestes auf dem Vorplatz nicht als schön empfunden. Essen war lecka Doch leider waren viele der auf der Karte befindlichen Gerichte nicht verfügbar. Einige Kollegen wollten es bestellen doch dies gab es dann nicht Die Serviererin hat mir schon fast leid getan Leider war auch die komplette Eiskarte aus. Meine Empfehlung wäre auf die Karte zu schreiben, wenn es Eis am Abend nicht gibt.

Wir waren mit 2 Kindern und 2 Erwachsenen hier Mittag essen. Das Essen der Erwachsenen hat sehr lecker geschmeckt. Frische Zutaten, frische Zubereitung. Dezent gewürzt. Portionen ausreichend. Die Kinder hatten Nudeln bestellt. Die Tomatensauce war leider sehr salzig. Nicht versalzen, aber für ein Kindergericht ungewöhnlich salzig. Dss Personal war sehr nett und fröhlich. Die Kellnerin ist sowohl auf die Kinder, als auch auf die Erwachsenen individuell und freundlich eingegangen. Leider ist der Zugang zum Restaurant nicht barrierefrei. Zum Glück kann meine Frau ein paar Stufen nach oben gehen. Jemand der / die ganz auf den Rollstuhl angewiesen ist, kann nur im Außenbereich essen.

Ich war insgesamt sehr zufrieden mit meinem Besuch. Der Service war freundlich, aufmerksam und man hat sich als Gast willkommen gefühlt. Das Essen war ok es hat geschmeckt. Das Café macht insgesamt einen sehr angenehmen Eindruck. Einen kleinen Kritikpunkt möchte ich dennoch anmerken: Die Toilettenbrillen auf der Damentoilette wirken inzwischen etwas abgenutzt und könnten meiner Meinung nach zeitnah ausgetauscht werden. Das fällt besonders auf, weil das Café ansonsten einen sehr gepflegten und einladenden Eindruck macht und die Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter wirklich nett sind. Insgesamt kann ich das Café aber sehr empfehlen und komme gerne wieder.

Leider bekommt man nach 17 Uhr keinen Kuchen mehr, da dieser zu dieser Zeit wieder eingefroren wird.

Wir besuchten Ihr Café in der Mittagszeit. Gemeinsam mit unserem Sohn und unserer Schwiegertochter konnten wir bei gutem Essen und Getränken das Treiben auf dem Hauptmarkt beobachten. Sehr ungut fand ich, daß unsere Kreditkarte nicht angenommen wurde und die ec- karte(debit) ebenfalls nicht funktionierte. Am Kontostand lag die Ablehnung 100% nicht! Wir wollten die "Kinder" einladen und waren dann froh, daß sie genug Bares dabei hatten.

Zum Schnitzel Donnerstag gute und schnelle Bedienung, obwohl das Restaurant gut besucht war. Schnitzel sehr schmackhaft und große Portion.

Ambiente und Speisekarte sind sehr vielversprechend, der Service und die Speisen selbst bleiben hinter den dadurch ausgelösten Erwartungen zurück. Der Kellner fragte nach unserer Zufriedenheit und schaffte es, zwei kritische Anmerkungen unsererseits zum Essen so zu verwandeln, dass wir uns schließlich bei ihm für die nicht aufgegessenen Teller entschuldigten. Das hat uns alle Achtung abgenötigt. Als er zum Schluss noch einmal stereotyp fragte, ob ‚alles gut war‘, haben wir ihn belogen und artig ‚Ja danke‘ gesagt. Jetzt schämen wir uns dafür…

Wir waren am Samstag im Kaffee am Markt in Zwickau.Wir mussten ca 1 Stunde auf unser Essen warten was geschmacklich gut war. Der Hammer ist der Preis für eine Flasche Mineralwasser 7,20 Euro das geht garnicht.

Lecker Essen gehabt - Service war super - gerne wieder mal.

Leider war der gebackene Feta ein Fertiggericht und ich denke das Ragout fin denke ich auch, aber das weiß ich nicht genau, jedenfalls hat es nicht besonders geschmeckt. Also wenn ich in eine Gaststätte gehe möchte ich schon frisch gemachte Gerichte erhalten, aus dem Frost kann ich mir selber im Supermarkt holen. Ich war sehr enttäuscht und werde nicht wiederkommen. Der Service war aber sehr gut und freundlich.

Also was soll ich sagen ... super Bedienung super Küche hat alles gepasst .War heute eingeladen zum Geburtstag von meinen Freund und war das erste mal in dießen Lokal .... war von Anfang bis zum Ende sehr zufrieden . Es reiht sich ein zu den " Besten " wie z.B. " Glück Auf " in Zwickau ..... macht weiter so .. super ! solche Lokale findet man selten !!!!

Wir haben hier am frühen Nachmittag gegessen. Der Service war sehr freundlich. Es hat sehr gut geschmeckt und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Ich war schon zu verschiedenen Anlässen hier. Mittagstisch mit meiner Familie.Heut mal zum Mädelsabend.Wir hatten einen netten aufmerksamen Kellner und eine flinke Kellnerin. Man merkte sie arbeiten Hand in Hand. Wenn man die anderen Rezessionen liest, kommt das Personal nicht gut weg. Aber mal ehrlich einfach wieder mal probieren. Manche Kellner arbeiten ja nicht für immer dort. Das Essen ist wirklich schön angerichtet und alles schmeckt. Ich hatte ein Steak und die Ofenkartoffel sah auch sehr gut aus. Also unsere Teller waren alle aufgegessen.Cocktail Happy Hour ...Preis war 6 euro für ein großen Cocktail, 4 für einen kleinen.Preis Leistung stimmt. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Sehr freundliches Personal. Haben eine halbe Stunde vor Schluss sogar noch was zum Essen erhalten, danke dafür.

Wir hatten eine Familienfeier. Das Essen und die Getränke waren sehr gut. Den Damen vom Service ein großes Dankeschön. Dem Herren, der uns bediente empfehlen wir ein Knigge-Seminar. Nur soviel - zu den Grundregeln des Anstandes gehören ein "Guten Tag" und ein "Auf Wiedersehen".

Absolut nicht zu empfehlen! Schriftlich bestätigte Reservierungen werden am nächsten Tag wegen fadenscheiniger Gründe storniert. Unfreundliches und freches Personal. Finger weg!

Ich hatte beim ersten Besuch die Kartoffelpuffer mit Lachs und Meerrettich und obwohl ich keinen Meerrettich mag, war der verdammt lecker genau wie der Fisch und die Puffer. Teeauswahl ist auch sehr gut. Beim zweiten Besuch hatte ich einen Burger mit Pommes und Krautsalat und hatte nichts großes erwartet bei einem Preis von 13,70 €. Aber was dann kam war echt der Hammer. Zum Glück gab es Besteck denn den so zu essen war kaum möglich weil der Burger echt groß war. Ich war danach pappsatt und bin nach Hause gelaufen weil mir schon ein wenig übel war weil ich so voll war. Werde gerne mal wieder dort einkehren. Ach und die Mitarbeiter waren alles super höflich und zuvorkommend. Danke denn wir waren wegen eines Trauerfalls dort mit der Familie.

Das Marktcafé ist seit vielen Jahren unser absolutes lieblings Restaurant in Zwickau. Das Essen ist immer lecker und sehr schön angerichtet. 5🌟 Der Service ist immer freundlich und aufmerksam. 5🌟 Und das Ambiente ist stimmig und gemütlich.5🌟 Das einzige was wirklich schade ist , das es kein Frühstück mehr gibt. 🥲 Fast vergessen zu erwähnen.... Eure leckere Torten Auswahl zur Kaffeezeit. Lecker 😋

Sehr gutes Essen, schnelle, aufmerksame Bedienung, Preis - Leistung absolut in Ordnung. Wir waren 8 Erwachsene und zwei kleine Kinder, von Reservierung bis Bezahlung lief alles prima. Der Tisch, der für uns vorgesehen war, passte perfekt. Kinderessen wurde mit der Vorspeise serviert, es war für die ganze Familie ein angenehmer Abend.

A lovely café with a great selection of cakes and pastries, especially delicious ones like the pesto and poppy seed cake, the strawberry tiramisu cake, and much more! The coffee specialties are also delicious. Very friendly staff!

We only wanted to order a cocktail, which was advertised as part of the happy hour promotion on a board at the entrance… A jumbo cocktail would cost €6 (0.5l). When we ordered, we were (unfriendly) informed that it only started on December 1st, even though it said: daily except Sundays!!! As a thank you for my inquiry, I was served a Long Island Iced Tea, which was 78% cola!!! Beware! Get your cocktails somewhere else!

We were informed at 6:30 PM that the kitchen would close at 8:00 PM. At 8:30 PM, we were offered another drink upon request, with the understanding that they would close at 9:00 PM, even though they were open until 10:00 PM. Apparently, they were the last guests, and €180 in sales weren't enough. I can only advise everyone against eating dinner there.

We went there today for coffee and a selection of delicious cakes. The cake was so incredibly tasty that we decided to have dinner as well (after a short one-hour walk). We immediately made another reservation and were also extremely satisfied with our dinner. I had steak au four and my wife had roast goose leg with dumplings. Delicious! 😋 The service was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance and the subtle music were wonderful! I highly recommend the Marktcafé. 👍🏻 We've already booked dinner for Boxing Day and are really looking forward to it. Thank you so much, dear team! 🫶

A family outing to Zwickau, including a visit to the Marktcafé, where we had reserved a table in advance. They had incredibly delicious cakes and pastries at a great price. I ordered an eggnog cake. Creamy and with a rich flavor. Highly recommended.

Unfriendly employee (short gray hair) who doesn't even bother to thank people for generous tips, which should really be a given, just saying "thank you." I don't know what customer service looks like, but judging by the reviews here, several people have had the "pleasure" of meeting this person. The one star is for the delicious selection of cakes.

The Marktcafe has a café/restaurant on the upper floor and outdoor seating facing the market. The selection of cakes is extensive and excellent. The service is friendly and prompt. The dining room is always very busy, so reservations are highly recommended.

Perfect to bridge the waiting time at the Citizen Service Center 😃👍

A cozy interior and a lovely view of the market square from the terrace, thanks to its slightly elevated location. We've been here several times in the past few weeks and have always received friendly and prompt service. Delicious food, such as schnitzel with creamed mushrooms and fried potatoes for €18, and for dessert, a wide selection of various coffees, as well as cakes and pastries.

I regularly visit this wonderful restaurant with my man. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, very tasty food, and an incredibly large selection of different types of coffee. Thank you all very much for maintaining the traditions of quality in everything. Prosperity to you!

A good cafe! I often go there with my grandchildren. Nice staff, fast service, delicious dishes for any requirements. I would like to recommend offering visitors to leave their recommendations for improving some aspects. A wonderful, cozy cafe, but some changes need to be made, for example in the interior. I wish you all the best, you make our mood brighter, thank you!

There were three of us, and two coffees arrived after 40 minutes. The cake arrived after another 15 minutes, after we asked the overwhelmed and rude staff for it. The last coffee came only after everyone had finished their meals. The cake was delicious, but would have been even better with warm coffee. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

We wanted a relaxing coffee and cake on a Sunday afternoon. Even on our way to the cake counter, we encountered only stressed, unfriendly, and hectic staff. After waiting at our table for a while, and even approaching the waiter ourselves to ask for a menu, we still weren't served. I can't rate the food or drink; the service and organization were simply poor. I wouldn't recommend it.

I didn't like the cake that much. We also ordered an "Italian thick chocolate," which tasted like chocolate soup at school, but rancid and overpriced (about 200ml for €5). There were also a lot of ice cream flavors, which we didn't try, but they looked good.

We have visited the café frequently over the past 10 years for various occasions (lunch, meetings with friends, family celebrations, etc.) and were always satisfied. Yesterday was different: We arrived around 11:30 a.m. to have a drink and then lunch. We sat on the terrace and were initially served quickly and friendly as usual. Unfortunately, it was very windy, and we decided to eat inside instead. I had previously arranged with the employee inside that a table by the window that had just become available would be reserved for us for a few minutes. After 3 or 4 minutes, we returned with our things and drinks to the table reserved for us, which, however, was occupied by a man. I pointed out to him that we had reserved the table, but received a rude response, and the short, stocky employee with the longer hair, who was working at the counter, began to insult us in a vulgar manner. I first explained to her politely that we had reserved the table with a colleague a few minutes earlier. The colleague in question, who had joined us in the meantime, was obviously afraid of the bartender and didn't keep her word, instead trying to talk her way out of it. To end the unpleasant situation, we wanted to go back outside to the terrace. The waitress followed us and suddenly wanted to take the money. Well, I paid and was about to leave the café when the bartender shouted loudly, "Did he pay?" This naturally gave the other guests in the busy café the impression that we were trying to cheat out of the bill. I confronted her about it, but the lady (who, however, was behaving in a completely unladylike manner and was displaying completely unprofessional behavior) remained uncooperative. The staffing shortage must be quite severe to employ such an employee, who behaves completely inappropriately towards both guests and colleagues (employees?).

Many thanks to the staff at the Marktcafe for making our 60th high school graduation reunion on May 22, 2025, a complete success. We all agreed: friendly, attentive service, excellent value for money, excellent quality and variety of food, and a cozy atmosphere. It couldn't be better. M. Opelt

So I won't be entering this cafe again anytime soon. We were there a few weeks ago because we just wanted to have a coffee. It was obviously full....we wanted to politely ask the gentleman behind the counter if there was still a table. Clumsy answer "I can't see around the corner from here" in a really disrespectful tone. We looked at it ourselves...guests looked stupid and there was no reaction from the staff either. The guy with the disrespectful attitude then shot around the corner. Then they left again. Won't be back in a hurry and don't recommend it to anyone!

The woman with long dark hair, we heard her colleagues calling her Simone. We found them to be very unfriendly and unkempt. What we noticed most was that she smelled a lot like alcohol when she talked to us. Maybe that's why she was so rude and unfriendly to the guests. At the next table, the guests were also surprised at the way she interacted with people. We weren't the only ones who noticed that this waitress' attitude belongs to the guest. We will continue to visit the market cafe, but we will be served by a different service person

Service is impossible, lazy, neither customer friendly nor business oriented. As many of the previous speakers have already reported, the service here is not working at all. At 1 p.m. the three of us showed up at the café for coffee and cake. All areas with benches (due to my bad back) were free and marked as reserved from 3 p.m. There was no way to place us there for an hour. Cake was delicious. There was no greeting or nice day or merry Christmas. Instead, you slapped the change on the table and went back behind the counter to chat with your colleagues. All in all, we advise against visiting there and will never go here again.

I regularly enjoy dinner here and have hardly had any negative experiences so far. The food tastes great, the service is always nice and courteous and the window seats offer a good view of the main market. Above all, I am someone who doesn't like to wait and stay in a restaurant for a long time. Sit down, order, eat, pay. And these points are met very well. I can recommend it.

I would have liked to eat there. Unfortunately, despite the museum night, the closing time for the kitchen was not postponed even a little bit. You probably don't need the sales. There was something to eat in other restaurants.

The two of us came here for dinner. The service was excellent, both in terms of friendliness and speed. The food tasted very good, although the starter soup filled me up a lot. So I couldn't really enjoy my main course. But that was the only drawback. In any case, we were quite satisfied.

Unfortunately I can't give any stars. I wanted to eat something to eat at the big event on the main market around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, but I was pretty clearly refused. There would be a lot to do in the restaurant so all I could do was have a drink. Does the kitchen only have one stove??? And the colleague has nothing to do with friendliness! At such a big event in the heart of Zwickau, where there are also many foreign guests in the city, this is the right advertising!!! Maybe the operators should be swapped with those from the brewery! Luckily there is an Austrian alternative on the main market that served me and other hungry guests well! Unfortunately I have to click a star for the post to be read.

Difficult to reach by phone. Unfriendly service, disappears in the middle of a conversation. Ambience seems a bit run down. Payment by cell phone not possible. Had to leave my smartphone as a deposit so I could get cash.

Got a very tasty crispy chicken schnitzel and enjoyed impeccable service. Nice outside area. Only the occasional tram was a problem, but that's no one's fault (: If you look at it as an "authentic ambience", it's even more comfortable. We'd love to come back.

Very good food, friendly service, nice atmosphere. The tables could perhaps be decorated a little nicer. A vase with a fresh flower would enhance the whole concept.

At 8:03 p.m. you can't get any more spiced meat because the kitchen is closed... If the waitress hadn't come back after 15 minutes... that would be a huge effort. Not very customer oriented. Main course was okay. Not even the candle on the table was lit.

First of all I would like to make it clear that the food was really of a very good quality. Preheated plates, very good tasting roulades... So really tasty. The ambience was ok. It was quite cold but that is subjective. However, the one lady who was assigned to the service today was very difficult to deal with. I'm naturally a friendly and courteous guy and made room for the lady when she wanted to bring drinks outside with her hands full. There was not a look, a smile or a thank you. Everything could have been concentrated. When we left the restaurant we said goodbye to the bartender, but the lady repeatedly didn't have the time to say goodbye or smile. It's a shame because the food was really excellent. Portion size was ok... But unfortunately we are not a benchmark because we are gluttonous 😅 Best regards

We were there at coffee time for Mother's Day. There is a large selection of home-baked tarts/cakes. There are also many drinks to choose from. I highly recommend it. Simply always delicious.

Employees in the catering industry are certainly rare, but it is better not to meet this one employee at the market cafe (with a Slavic accent) and certainly not to hire her. We have never experienced such unfriendly behavior. In a harsh commanding tone, we were reprimanded in front of all the guests that she decided where we should sit down. We were a small group and left straight away because we weren't used to this kind of behavior.

Busy Easter, very friendly service, our dog was immediately given a bowl of water, food was very good, wonderfully hot and plentiful! Price-performance okay. We'd love to come back!

Nice cafe with delicious food but I have questions for the waitress (short blonde hair and Russian speaking), firstly she came and started speaking Russian but we are in Germany and want to speak German, secondly she was unfriendly and rude and stopped us from buying anything to drink. Third, she was rude to us after paying because we didn't leave a tip. But the other employees are also very friendly and no questions are asked.

There were seven of us and we had to wait a long time for our food. There was no longer a court. The taste was very good, the rump steak was exactly right.

Das Steak war auf den Punkt genau gebraten und sehr zart. Das Würzfleisch war wirklich hausgemacht, das hat man geschmeckt. Und es war ordentlich überbacken. Alles in allem ein sehr gutes Essen.

Ruht sich zu sehr auf den einzigen Lorbeeren, der guten Lage, aus. Ausstattung gut, Service und Essen nur im mittleren Bereich. Sonderwünsche werden gern angenommen, aber leider nicht realisiert. Update 12/2023: Das erste Haus am Platz? Immer noch keine veganen Gerichte! Eine Schande, die Deklassierung einer Stadt zur absoluten Provinz.

Nette Bedienung und lecker 😋 Essen. Eine schöne Atmosphäre, was will man mehr. Hoffe nur das man das man das im neuen Jahr halten kann.
