We were here for breakfast brunch; excellent value for money. The food was great, and the staff was friendly.

We were there today, January 3rd, 2026, for a girls' breakfast. The buffet was fantastic, leaving nothing to be desired. The staff was very friendly. We'll definitely come back, as there's nothing comparable in Gera.

Hello, I wish I hadn't given any stars. The food is nothing like it used to be, cold and not even properly cooked… very disappointing. You also have to wait a very long time for drinks, and when you finally get your drink, the glass is dirty and the cola tastes like water with just a hint of cola… What a shame.

The service is very friendly, the food tastes delicious, simply very good.

We only had desserts and drinks, and we loved everything. The service, as usual in Germany, was lacking. The place is atmospheric and comfortable.

The two of us wanted to have lunch at Alex on Saturday. The place was packed, but not so full that there were no seats available. After we sat down at a table for four, the staff asked us to leave our seats and find a table for two. That was pretty rude, and hospitality is beyond compare.

Waited 45 minutes for food, then left the restaurant hungry (food hadn't been prepared - the server asked in the kitchen twice) presumably the order was lost...

We've been here many times for dinner and this time for Sunday brunch. For dinner, you should plan plenty of time, as it often takes a while for the dishes to arrive. But it's always incredibly delicious. For Sunday brunch, you could avoid the wait since you got your food yourself. A great buffet, something for everyone, and everything was absolutely delicious. The only downside is the service, as the waiters rarely come by, they don't ask if everything is alright or if you need anything else, and you have to actively call the waiters every time you want to order, which I personally find annoying after a while. Nevertheless, I'll gladly come back when I know I have the time.

The schnitzels are bland and soggy, like the tarte flambée. The cocktails and burgers are very good, but the side dishes are a letdown. The corn bites were only buttery and moist the first time; the next two were dry and served without butter. The person warming them up/cooking them must have forgotten something. The service is inconsistent; I've had both good and incredibly slow waiters. Yesterday, Sunday, there was only one server for the lounge and the area outside. After waiting 19 minutes for a drink (from when I ordered, not from when I arrived), I left. My things were, of course, sitting at the register. The server was aggressive and annoyed instead of apologizing. This is the first restaurant in Zwickau that I won't be visiting again on my daily rounds, for good reason: the staff and the inconsistent food quality. Other restaurants offer a good atmosphere and decent cocktails, like Paula, 1471, and the Italian restaurants... Even Diner and Eds have better burgers and friendlier staff.

Very cozy with a great selection of food and drinks. The staff is very friendly. Not exactly cheap, but the quality is worth it. A must-visit in Zwickau.

I ordered a main course and an appetizer. Unfortunately, both arrived at the same time. That's simply unacceptable. Of course, one of them got cold. The prices were overpriced. The taste was only okay. It was also very crowded and therefore very noisy. We had to wait a very long time for our drinks.

We went to the breakfast buffet at Alex. I think there's something for everyone. I personally enjoyed it. I missed having Bircher muesli, for example. But you can't have everything. The tables are very small for two people. The staff is very friendly.

Despite the restaurant being full, the service staff is always incredibly friendly and the food is delicious! Respect :) The menu offers a wide selection of dishes, and the latte is, in my opinion, one of the best in the city.

I was here yesterday and wanted to eat and drink beer after work. After a horde of migrants and small children turned the restaurant into a playground, I fled. You should have a little more assertiveness as an owner.

A good restaurant just steps from Zwickau Cathedral. Good burgers and meat at reasonable prices. The beers are also good. Attentive service. Free street parking is available from 8:00 PM on the street, a five-minute walk from the restaurant. Plenty of tables inside, and a few outside.

It's really delicious here and the service is good, but sometimes some people are quite rude to younger people, for no reason. That happened to me once, for example...

We went for brunch on Saturday morning. There were hardly any tables occupied, but the buffet was constantly empty. And that was for €20. When we asked, we were charged. Never again.

The food was cold, and I had to wait over a quarter of an hour for my Coke!!! And when I complained about the cold food, they asked the kitchen about it. The answer was that the food was okay. The service was also very unfriendly. The ALEX in Potsdam and also at Frankfurt Airport are far better.

Unfortunately, it's very unsuitable for people with disabilities and those with babies/children in diapers! The accessible restroom isn't lockable, it's blocked, and the "changing table" is made of hard plastic and completely unsafe. It's unhygienic and close to the toilet, and the light flickers. On the plus side, you can sit outside, and the service was quick and friendly this time. It really depends on the person. The food is delicious and the brunch is very good, but the portion prices are expensive, depending on the size.

The ALEX in Zwickau boasts a beautiful location right on the market and friendly service. We ordered an Espresso Martini and a Pornstar Martini. The Espresso Martini was visually eye-catching and tasted okay, although a bit too sweet for our taste. The Pornstar Martini, unfortunately, had significant drawbacks: It bore little resemblance to the original – no fresh passion fruit, no Prosecco shot, and no foamed egg white. Upon inquiry, we were told that the Prosecco was already included in the cocktail, which, however, was neither convincing in terms of quantity nor taste. The alleged egg white appeared to be in syrup form, but it was undetectable in taste and completely missing visually. Overall: Very nice atmosphere and friendly service, but the cocktails clearly have a lot of room for improvement.

The service was an absolute disaster. I ordered a waffle and after 40 minutes (!) asked where it was. The server's response was rude and unprofessional: "It's taking a while today." Another 30 minutes later, I asked again – and suddenly they said they were checking with the kitchen NOW. The result: The order had been lost. The apology was only halfhearted – no genuine regret or effort to make amends. I then decided not to eat. My companion's dish was cold by then, and the whole experience was ruined. Such a blatant service error – and not a hint of customer service. Deeply disappointing. I will definitely not be coming back.

We wanted to have breakfast yesterday. They asked us for a reservation. We didn't have one. We were then somewhat rudely shown to a table and waited in vain for service. Nothing came. It was very loud all around. At the next table, we asked for service and were rudely turned away. We then went somewhere else for breakfast, where everything was perfect.

The food is great, the location is modern. It's just a shame that you can hardly reach anyone by phone.

I went to this ALEX with my mother in the afternoon. It wasn't that busy at the time. Both the lemonade and the rösti with salmon were really delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much salmon there was on the plate. It was also beautifully presented. The service was always friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long. We really enjoyed it.

The breakfast selection is unfortunately very limited: a buffet for €15! Or a croissant with a small amount of butter, jam, and coffee for €6.50, with nothing in between, including a roll. A second croissant costs almost €4 more each, totaling €20.50, which is pretty steep! Next time we'll go a bit further, where there are more people sitting.

Once again, it was delicious and fun. Stefan from the service team always has cool sayings and still manages to make something tasty for you with ease. Orders are processed in a flash and are always a feast for the eyes and, above all, a feast for the eyes. Thank you for the lovely and entertaining afternoon. Keep up the good work.

We first went there for coffee. A latte, the well-filled cup of which could easily pass for a child's hat :-) Later, we returned for some super-delicious bowls. Absolutely fantastic in terms of taste and choice of ingredients. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

We were on a day trip to the August Horch Museum and were incredibly hungry afterward. We quickly found Alex on Maps and headed there straight away. Parking is readily available, and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant immediately impressed us with its ambiance and friendly staff. The menu is very extensive, so there's something for everyone. The food arrived very quickly and tasted great. High praise! Another really cool feature is the open kitchen, where you can practically watch your food being prepared. The only downside: the music was a bit too loud at times, as we were sitting directly under a speaker, and the men's restroom sounded like a techno party, given the flickering lights 😂 But all in all, a very inviting and delicious restaurant!

Today was the first time I've had the all-you-can-eat breakfast with a friend. Personally, I didn't like it. My Black Forest ham was way too salty, and I would have expected a bit more from your rolls, considering we were there at 9 a.m. My friend also said the cornflakes tasted sticky. Finally, my fruit salad was way too acidic and didn't have any sweetener in it.

We've been coming to Alex regularly since last summer and really enjoy it. The food is delicious, there's a great selection of sodas and other drinks, and the staff is super friendly. Today we were served by Aisha, Chris, and Mario, and we were completely satisfied. This is what makes eating out fun! 2023: Not very pleasant experience here. The wait was very long, the coffee with milk that I got was very big, not necessarily a coffee. I ordered after that espresso macchiato in order to have the taste of a real coffee. I had a chicken teriyaki which was pretty decent. But also the fact that the tables were near one another, and there was no umbrella for the sun, it was a bit uncomfortable. Update 2025: I had a caesar wrap which was delicious. And the espresso machiatto is good 😊 The experience inside is much better than on the terrace as the tables are not so crowded.

A well-known restaurant chain from other cities was just disappointing. We went there on a Friday afternoon and got a table quickly. I ordered a spritzer and burrata with tomato salad. The burrata with tomato salad was even pictured on the menu. The drinks came very quickly. Unfortunately, it took over 45 minutes for the food to arrive. I can imagine people on a lunch break from work who have a 30-minute break. Not feasible at Alex. The service also gave no indication that the food would take longer to prepare. I got the salad last. Unfortunately, it was more of an arugula and onion salad with a few tomatoes and burrata. It didn't come close to the picture on the menu. So don't trust the pictures on the menu. The few tomatoes in the salad were also hard. I was very disappointed this time.

Very well located in the city center. A great place to have breakfast with friends or family. Large outdoor area, but parking is a bit limited nearby. Not the first choice for a good lunch, but they do offer a variety of small dishes and cocktails. So, better in the evening.

My favorite bar, restaurant, pub, café, breakfast spot for many years... the perfect place to spend time with my friends and favorite people. And apart from the many delicacies and cocktails, there is one (favorite) waiter who is always laughing (the others are great too, but he is special).

Very tasty food itself, but unfortunately we got the wrong food. Or rather, it wasn't that wrong, but the meat sandwich was simply missing all the meat 😅 After we asked about it, a baked potato was kindly added to our bill instead of the sandwich. Since the meat was the most expensive part of the whole dish. All in all, tasty and friendly service.

We were at Alex with 5 people and chose this location because we have always been very satisfied. BUT this time it was different. The service was an absolute disaster! No organization, no plan, complete chaos. After half an hour of sitting and waiting unnoticed, we asked a waitress that we would like to order a few drinks. These came after a quarter of an hour. So we had our first drinks after 45 minutes, but only because they drew attention to it. Our food came after 90 minutes. Throughout the entire evening, 6 different service staff served us...

The second time there was nothing....waited 35 minutes for the first drink. The meal took 1½ hours. Our neighboring table, which was present before us, only received the drinks after us. Our table (5 people) was served by 4 different waiters. One didn't know what the other was doing. Another neighboring table went without any service because there was simply no drink. A dessert arrived after 20 minutes, with changes without request as certain ice cream flavors were no longer available. The other dessert was served 40 minutes later. That's not possible, and I've already worked in the catering industry, so I know what I'm talking about. Nothing organized, everything a mess. The response to my first review was: “we can do better.” We didn't notice anything about it today either. That's it for us. 👋🏻
