A classic, beautiful Italian. Great location in the backyard, with attentive service, great outdoor area and delicious food at reasonable prices. Not an exaggerated posh Italian but down to earth, good and wonderfully normal!

I meet a friend there for lunch every now and then. Just because it's central for both of us and the food is really delicious. The ambience is a bit dark inside and it's always very cold there...at least for us. The service is so-so...the gentleman (operator?) is always very short and almost unfriendly. The young women are very friendly. There is a small outdoor area, which is in the courtyard and is cozy.

The restaurant is somewhat hidden in Eppendorf and has a very nice terrace in the quiet courtyard. The interior is quite large and has a Mediterranean feel. We are a small group that meets regularly for lunch at Mario's. After a very friendly greeting, the order is quickly taken. Bread and olives are served as a greeting from the kitchen. As a guest who often eats at Mario's, I can only say that I enjoy the family atmosphere and feel very comfortable thanks to the friendly, personal treatment and service. I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. Dear team, keep it up.

We celebrated our wedding reception at Restaurant Mario and it was simply perfect! The planning was super uncomplicated, which I particularly liked. The food was delicious and the service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was just right for our special celebration. We can only recommend the Mario restaurant! Unfortunately my visit to this pizzeria was very disappointing. The owner was unfriendly and the food didn't taste good at all. In addition, hygiene measures were not adhered to, which is very worrying. The prices are far too high for the quality offered and the atmosphere is anything but inviting. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Das Restaurant war abends um 19:00 Uhr leer - bis auf einen Tisch! Das hätte uns schon zu denken geben sollen! Die Spaghetti waren weich. Das Viertel vom Wein kostete 16 Euro nachdem wir vorher 1/2 Liter des gleichen Weines für 19 Euro bekommen haben. Uns wurde ein „Absacker“ angeboten, den ich tauschen wollte gegen einen Espresso! Angeblich kein Problem. Allerdings stand der Espresso auf der Rechnung. Der Kellner meinte, er sei im Recht!👎🏿

A nice restaurant with a great outdoor area. The food is very nicely prepared and tastes very tasty. The service is good and you are served quickly. The prices are rather cheap for Eppendorf. I paid 20.50 euros for my veal liver with potatoes and vegetables and 5 euros for the bottle of water. I don't think that's expensive at all. I always really enjoy being here. Today I was in the restaurant with a friend and we had really nice conversations with the owner Patrick. We laughed a lot, thank you for such a great evening ❤️

Mario Ristorante Pizzeria is a true hidden gem that we discovered by accident. Hidden in a small alley, the restaurant exudes real Italian charm. The stylish furnishings, with brick red, white and green as the main colors, create a cozy atmosphere that is perfectly complemented by Italian music and interesting wall decorations. The service was exceptional - the waiter was not only professional but also friendly and attentive. He cleaned our table in front of us and presented us with the daily specials. The music was pleasant and unobtrusive, and the solid wooden tables added to the authentic atmosphere. At the beginning we were greeted with fresh, fluffy bread and a selection of black and green olives from the kitchen. Although olives aren't necessarily our specialty and we would have preferred a good olive oil, the bread was absolutely delicious so we can't complain about it! We ordered two pizzas, a wheat beer, Cola and Tartufo Nero – all for just 32.50 euros! The price-performance ratio is unbeatable, and for the excellent service, tipping was a given for us. As a highlight, we even got a limoncello on the house at the end. The pizzas arrived just 3 minutes after we ordered and were perfect - thin dough, topped just right, and obviously fresh from the brick oven. The Tartufo Nero was served with homemade whipped cream and was to die for. We will definitely be back – and next time we will bring friends!

A very charming Mediterranean restaurant with delicious cuisine. In 2021 the interior was completely renovated and equipped with new tables and chairs. I have uploaded some photos. When the weather is nice, the inner courtyard invites you to sit outside; umbrellas or an awning can be used to protect against sun or rain if necessary. The lunch menu offers salads, pasta dishes, a pizza, and usually a mixed fish platter as well as a meat dish. When the weather is good, you can sit outside in the quiet and sunny courtyard. Today I had spaghetti with 4 scampi, perfectly prepared and super tasty. For dinner there are olives and pizza bread. If you like, you can order from the large menu at any time or from the daily specials on the boards. A lot of fresh cooking is done in the Mario restaurant. The owner, who is head waiter, part-time chef and buyer, told me a secret or two: For example, the broth is made from bones every day. Another day I felt like pizza: The Pizza Fungi is exactly how I like it: thin base, some cheese and a good portion of fresh champions. The Parma (ham) Ruccola Grano Padano pizza is also always perfect. Mario really deserves the name pizzeria! Mario's Restaurant has been a real institution in Eppendorf for over 34 years. Wedding parties and companies often celebrate here. A lovingly designed picture confirms that employees of a local company celebrated their annual celebration here for the 34th time in 2017. With so much light there are sometimes some shadows. The vegetable accompaniment to fish or meat is sometimes not quite perfect, and when it's busy, the service starts to sweat. For me, the Restaurant Mario deserves a total of 5 stars: it is always tasty and friendly here, and the prices are also very fair.

The guest garden in the inner courtyard with trees is very cozy, quiet, almost romantic. As a vegetarian, I found a lot to choose from on the menu. The waitress came by several times to take our order, but was completely unobtrusive, very friendly and with a cheerful patience (our decision-making process took quite a long time). We were also offered other options that were not listed on the map. The kitchen responds very flexibly to special requests. The tagliatelle with chanterelles were very tasty. We can expressly recommend Mario and will certainly come here again.

The partly negative reviews almost stopped us from coming here, but when we saw the tables under the trees, we decided to take the plunge and eat here. The dishes with the chanterelles (salad and also tagliatelle) were rich and tasty. The pizzas at the next table also looked very good. The service was quick, helpful, friendly and very easy to deal with. There was always someone there to take further orders without being intrusive. The ambience was nice outside and the interior was also attractive. We'll come back for sure!

I went to Mario's in Eppendorf for the first time last week because a friend of mine recommended the restaurant. I really have to say I was more satisfied than I have been for a long time. My wife and I happened to be in Restaurante Mario recently and just wanted to have a drink. As it happens, we looked at the menu and were tempted, then ordered and tried a few things. We were more than impressed by the cuisine and the friendly staff. We had a very positive impression of the restaurant and would recommend it to anyone.

Incomprehensible. I don't understand why this pizzeria has been around for so long. Here someone has independently realized their dream of owning their own restaurant. No culinary training, no other relevant experience and completely talentless. Everything tasted as if it had been put together largely from ready-made ingredients from the supermarket. That's probably how it was. If you can't even top and bake a pizza properly, let alone cook pasta properly, then you shouldn't run a restaurant. This place has existed for years with poor service, lack of hygiene and substandard service. Respect!

Homophobic Yes, we are gay. My friend and I wanted to have a little something to eat in Eppendorf for lunch. There was a large board on Eppendorfer Landstrasse with information about the lunch menu at this pizzeria in the back yard. We went in and when we got there there were only 2 tables occupied inside. Since the weather was nice, we sat outside at a free table on the terrace. The waiter brought us the menus and we ordered something to drink in advance. When we were served our drinks, we wanted to order our food at the same time. Apparently the waiter then noticed that we were holding hands, because he looked at us completely disturbed and suddenly said that it was closed today and asked us to leave. When we asked him why he brought us the menus and served us the drinks, he became rude and said that he had forgotten the company. We quickly understood that the waiter was prejudiced against us because there was no such thing as a closed society. Since he could easily hide his homophobia, we blew him an air kiss goodbye. He called out to us to go quickly and we were happy to do so. I can't reproduce his exact wording here because it violates the rules. This isn't the first time something like this has happened to us. We can deal with it and are now here to express our deepest condolences to the waiter of this pizzeria.

Nope. Eating out is usually fun. Not least because you can be served and for a change you don't have to assemble your dinner from questionable fridge leftovers. But when the waitress at the restaurant is so engrossed in private conversations that she might as well have gone home, and the food looks like it was fished out of your freezer and defrosted, then the whole thing becomes less fun.

"Italian restaurant" in the back yard. My girlfriend had a Quattro Formaggi pizza that tasted worse than the cheapest baked pizza. My spaghetti Bolognese was anything but “al dente” and the sauce tasted like a Maggie-fix ready mix. Unfortunately, I noticed too late the full ashtray next to the cash register, the mop bucket with dirty water, the bread crumbs on the empty chair next to me and the leftover food under the neighboring table.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Mario and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very inviting and friendly. The decor exudes a warm and cozy atmosphere that immediately made us feel welcome. The decoration is tasteful and contributes to the relaxed atmosphere that lasted throughout the evening. A special highlight of our visit was the extremely friendly service. The waiter who looked after us not only took the time to calmly take our order, but was also available for a pleasant conversation. He was also very competent and gave us worthwhile recommendations that helped us find our way around the extensive selection of dishes. As far as the kitchen is concerned, we were absolutely thrilled. Each of us ordered a different dish, and each one was outstanding in its own way. One of our group chose fresh cod, which was perfectly cooked - juicy and aromatic. I enjoyed a tender beef fillet with Gorgonzola sauce that melted in the mouth and harmonized perfectly with the spicy sauce. Our third companion chose pasta with fillet tips and porcini mushrooms, which probably impressed with its rich and intense flavors. We have no hesitation in recommending Restaurant Mario to our closest friends and family. The friendly service, pleasant atmosphere and excellent cuisine make it a place to visit. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Not recommendable. The food we were served was overcooked tagliatelle swimming in cream sauce and pizza prosciutto with a few dried-out, stringy pieces of ham on top. The waiter was inattentive and kept having private conversations with a friend who apparently came to visit him at work. While my brother waited for the bill, I went to the toilet. On the way there I spotted a wide-open, puke-green cleaning cupboard.

Run down. As we entered the restaurant, I initially noticed a slightly musty smell, but the waiter quickly directed us to a table by the window before I could give it any further thought. As soon as we sat down, I felt like we had landed in the museum of an Italian canteen. Simple, yellowed retro inventory covered with paper napkins and tea lights. The menu mainly offers the usual Italo mix. Pizza, spaghetti, etc. We also decided on a more unusual dish. FILETTO AL PEPE VERDE (beef fillet with green pepper in cognac cream sauce) Seven minutes later, the food was there. The side dishes (mini salad with mayonnaise dressing) are unspectacular and the consistency of the fillet is almost rubbery. But the real star is the sauce, which tasted like condensed milk instead of cream to me and like "rancid milk with cognac" to my friend. The wine was fine for that. As we dug into the food, I watched the waiters in front of the restaurant Smoking at the door and chatting in a language that definitely wasn't Italian. During the obligatory toilet check at the end, I immediately had the loose handle in my hand when I opened the door.

Didn't feel well. Incorrect food and drinks were probably mainly due to the language barrier of the staff. My meal, which arrived after what felt like 30 seconds, consisted of macaroni with the saltiest tomato sauce I've ever eaten and a bruschetta in which the bread slices were so soggy within a very short time that they could no longer hold up to the tomatoes. I felt uncomfortable with the slow, uninterested service and the worn, carelessly maintained furnishings.

Miserable. The penne was rubbery. Definitely not freshly prepared. Probably a few days old, warmed in the microwave and then dipped in sauce. The portions were very small, the salad was limp and looked like it came from a plate that had been cleared away. Staff rude. No change was given because people were probably hoping for a tip. Since we didn't want to annoy ourselves any further, we left. Never...really never...have I eaten so poorly.

I last ate there in 2018 and everything was great back then. This time we waited a long time for the service to order. Then our food just didn't come. After more than 45 minutes I asked. The order slip was not left in the kitchen. It was re-recorded and would mean that it happens quickly, the boss makes your food. After another 30 minutes it finally arrived. When paying, the waiter suddenly left and didn't give the remaining money back. I had to run after him and tell him that I wanted my money back. A no go for me!!!

The food was solid for an Italian. In the summer it's definitely nice outside, but inside, with a big TV on the wall, it's not particularly comfortable. The service was inconsistent. First very quickly, then not paying attention at all for a long time.

Leider nicht mehr der Mario von früher. Wir waren früher oft da. Jetzt nach langer Zeit wieder. Das Restaurant war auf einem Freitagabend erschreckend leer. Die Karte hatte grad mal 4 Pastagerichte. Nicht einmal der Standard: Aglio e olio, Tortellini, Fehlanzeige. Die Pizza war sehr gut, der Service sehr höflich und aufmerksam. Aber aufgrund der übersichtlichen Karte leider kein weiterer Besuch. Große Tageskarte, aber es fehlten eben die typisch italienischen Pastagerichte. Schade.
