Maria Bonita in Berlin

🌮 A true gem for lovers of authentic Mexican cuisine! For me, Maria Bonita is the place to go in Berlin when it comes to Mexican street food. The dishes are incredibly aromatic, freshly prepared, and served with great attention to detail. The carnitas, tacos, and frozen margaritas are particularly recommended – a taste experience that will transport you straight to Mexico! The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, the staff friendly and attentive. You can immediately feel the passion that goes into the cooking here. The prices are also absolutely fair – a real highlight for connoisseurs! One small drawback: The bistro is very small, with only a few seats, which can lead to waiting times, especially during peak times. Unfortunately, there are no restrooms on site, which is something to keep in mind if you're planning on staying longer. Nevertheless: Anyone looking for authentic Mexican food in Berlin should definitely visit Maria Bonita. It's an absolute insider tip for me – I'll definitely be back.

Authentic Mexican dishes. Small but very nice place. Unfortunately, the seating is on a busy street.

The employee there was very rude, and the portions were extremely small. For the price, it's not worth it at all. I used to go there often and recommended it to my friends and acquaintances, but now I would never go back. It completely ruined my mood.

Terrible service. The girl who served us was rude and the food was little for the price. We used to go there before and the service and food were the best. It's a shame they lowered the quality. I don't recommend it anymore.

Although I know the restaurant isn't owned by a Mexican, as a Mexican I'm always happy to see how some people are so attracted to our culture that they open a restaurant. As long as it respects the values ​​and quality, it's fine... I took the time to rate it so low because I've given it several chances. The food is neither bad nor good, although it's not authentic... but the staff is terrible. To begin with, there aren't any Mexicans there, who would add a bit of Mexican charisma or even Mexican music. I have nothing against Latin Americans, on the contrary, but when, with a porteño accent, they show me the rudest and least authentic side that unites us, it's impossible to keep going back. I repeat, it didn't happen to me once, but several times. The last time after I ordered, they told me, "Hey, if you don't like it, don't come back," and that's what I'm going to do.

There aren't even any restrooms. I had to go to the restaurant next door. They were super friendly. Next time I'll just eat there (Red Dragon!)

The tacos were alright but nothing special, but the frozen grapefruit margarita was delicious.

Many things to criticize about this place. First, the staff is very, very rude, the service is terrible, they treat you as if they were doing you a favor. It's really bad not having bathrooms. It's illegal to not have a toilet at this point. The food is mediocre... well, no way, thank God! First, if you want to be treated unfriendly and like the kitchen treats you like they do in favor of you, go ahead and be prepared for mediocre food, kind of authentic but good. Second, be aware that not having a bathroom is actually illegal, but well, not my business. Never again.

The first time, a year ago, we stumbled upon this place by chance, but we haven't regretted it. Today, we drove here from Spandau (!) because we were already impressed by the taste of the food the first time. Today we had a burrito and a quesadilla, and again, it was absolutely delicious. I'll keep coming back; it's always worth it!

This is probably the best taco place in town. If you are up for spicy, acidic, sweet and super juicy tacos, this is the place!

If you're a fan of California style Mexican food, this spot is not to be missed! Consistently the best carnitas in town. Fresh guacamole with homemade chips. The red and the green salsas are both delicious. The huevos rancheros are my second favorite item on the menu. Super friendly staff who are happy to speak English. Gracias!

I love this place so much. I'm American and find it really difficult to find good Mexican food in Germany. This place is the bomb. The menu and the seating is very limited, but the service is super quick and friendly. The carnitas with cheese are amazing!

They are my favourite order and junk food in Berlin. I kid you not I order from there at least one a month. And living in Mitte I have a direct tram who brings me close enough to their restaurant easily haha 🤣 That's how good it is. 😍💓💓💓

Kinda bumped into this place and was intrigued by the queue while neighbouring places were empty. It was a blast. The food was beyond tasty and the frozen drink was delightful! The staff are nice too. I would go back. (I ordered a quesadilla and margarita.)

Not recommended... At least not if you're traveling with children or toddlers. We drove halfway across town because we wanted to eat something special, and I had saved the restaurant. Unfortunately, we discovered that there were only two small (full) tables outside with a few chairs, small standing tables, and no suitable seating inside for a stroller and child. There were four of us with a child. Disappointed, we went somewhere else to eat.

To be honest, I expected more from this place, but I didn't like it. The "hot" sauce tasted like it came from a Heinz Taco Sauce bottle and tasted like ketchup. The tacos looked good, but they were very greasy and the flavor wasn't the best. The only redeeming feature was the horchata water.

The entrance area smells so disgusting that it really puts you off eating there. It ruins your appetite. The tacos were okay, but that was it.

Absolutely LOVED the pork belly burrito I had here—not your traditional burrito, but so very worth it. Will recommend to everyone I know and return. They also have a number of alcoholic slushies and free salsa I believe.

The burritos are insane! I give it 4 and not 5 because the space is super small inside and to order and try to get things is complicated. I will come back and get Chilaquiles

Maria Bonita used to be great but now their food isn't edible anymore. Like others already said: unbelievably greasy. The burrito isn't a burrito in my mind. It's an oil-soaked tortilla filled with very rich minced beef.

As a Mexican myself, it's unusual to find good mexican restaurants (most of them are just Tex-mex US food) but this one is really good! The asada tacos really feel like street mexican tacos! The quesadilla was delicious as well. Give this place a try!

The best tacos I found in Germany!

I remember María Bonita was better in the past. Unfortunately we had a different experience in our last visit. Very greasy quesadilla, I wouldn’t add oil to the outside of the tortillas and also the guacamole sauce added to these quesadilla is too acid, better let people add it at their own convenience. My girlfriend ordered the Tinga de Pollo burrito, and it was more beans than Tinga, it was also quite greasy, and wasn’t fun. As a Mexican, I have to admit I was quite disappointed by the quality of the Food and would love to see it go back to where it was.

The food is super delicious! There is less space for eating inside, so in the warm months it is an advantage to have tables and chairs outside. You can pay by card and the employees on site are very nice.

I wanted to show my friends this place because I really enjoy eating there. The two operations are unfortunately very unfriendly. We pointed to the paper map three times. They then ordered the wrong thing, which wasn't a problem, but I was looked at aggressively and had to point to the paper card several times again. We were told several times that next time we should just point it out. I thought I could enjoy the food now, then the food was brought and I was looked at again with punishment. Somehow the waitresses in the restaurant are wrong. Too bad!

Really incredible Mexican food in a trendy area! Pretty much everyone loves Mexican food but when Mexican friends personally recommend a place, like they did for this one, you already are going in to the place with super high expectations. The outcome? They were far exceeded! The quality of food here and the variety (but simplicity) of the menu is truly top-notch! The decor is wonderful too with vibrant colours and Mexican culture surrounding you. The stickers they offer up too are trendy reminders of the great time you'll have here and we loved all their sauces, many of which are totally complementary! The service was strong and well-paced, even with a long line in the cold, we were able to take in the great atmosphere of this little Mexican find and the food arrived promptly and didn't just taste incredible, but looked beautiful too! Would absolutely recommend this masterclass location for your Mexican food fix!

Most Mexican food in Berlin is pure slop. The chips are tostitos, the salsa has corn in it, and they think that a hard shell taco is an appetizer. This place is the real deal and frankly, their challenge is that the place is so small, they are limited on their menu options. I'm just hoping that the owner sees all of those empty little storefronts near Oranienburger Tor and decides to open a new spot there. Hint. Hint. Hint hint.

I went 4 years ago and I didn't think it was bad. Today I came back and the food was horrible. The pozole without broth and without tasting like pozole, the carnitas and asada tacos served with yesterday's tomato cut on the side, with the onion cut very large on the side so that you can put it with your hand, without cilantro, without lemon, and with a tiny sauce without any flavor. Tortillas unmade and tasteless. The truth is horrible

The food is totally greasy. Tomatoes were mushy. Guacamole didn't taste like anything. It seems like no effort is being made anymore. I have no idea why the place is so hyped. At least it's not that expensive.

The food is very tasty and fresh. We had one burrito per person, but it didn't fill us up. If the portions were larger for the price, everything would be perfect.
