Very tasty tapas and a wide selection. It was my first time there, but I'll definitely be back. The wine is also delicious. The restaurant was very busy, and accordingly, it was quite loud. It was still easy to have a conversation.

The food was good. The concept is that you have to choose your own tapas at the counter. Unfortunately, the ambiance is only suitable for 2-4 people. The place is very small, and when we made a reservation for our large group, I wasn't told that we would be sitting outside at the end of October. Despite the heaters and blankets, we were unfortunately quite cold. It was also chaotic inside; people had to queue for at least 10 minutes to order their tapas at the counter, and then it took another 15 minutes for the tapas to be brought to the table. The tapas are all already prepared at the counter and are simply reheated. You pay €6.50 per bowl, regardless of the type of tapas. You also get your own beer. It was okay, but we won't be coming back.

Unfortunately, I can't judge the food; I ordered twice and got nothing. (no surprise, given the concept) The others seem to have enjoyed it so far. It's small, cramped, and incredibly loud, making it incredibly difficult to have a conversation. The service is almost nonexistent. I won't be back.

You can choose your own tapas from large clay bowls at the counter. We had nine different dishes, and they were all really great. Large portions and excellent quality! The red wine was also delicious! This was the best Spanish restaurant I've ever been to. We'll definitely stop by again on our next trip to Cologne 🙌

From the outside, the bar appears rather unassuming – but inside, Manuela's Tapas Bar surprises with its down-to-earth, rustic flair and a charming courtyard for balmy summer evenings. It gets lively and crowded, especially on weekends – but that's precisely what makes it so special. You choose your tapas directly at the counter – an authentic, almost Spanish experience where you can see what's about to land on your table. Food & Quality The selection is extensive: meat, fish, and vegetarian tapas – all for a flat rate of €6.50. Classics like patatas bravas, calamari, meatballs, dates in bacon, and much more – fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, some of the meat was a bit dry. But the taste was still great. The service was friendly and attentive – but later, when it got very busy, they were a bit stressed and forgot our drink order. We had a lovely evening here with good food.

We were spontaneously in Memmingen today and stumbled upon this bar. Awesome bar, great and very friendly staff, including the owner—top quality, great bowls at fair prices. Highly recommended. Great—it's really fun.

Recommended for groups. For individuals or couples, the atmosphere is lacking. It's more of a brewery-style place. That's not necessarily a bad thing!

Each one is more delicious than the last. Unfortunately, there's too much choice to try everything in one visit, so I'll be back and treat myself to the other delicacies. A different ordering concept, which I personally think is cool. You can see in advance what you'd like to eat. I also think €6.50 per plate is fair, because the portions are generous and the quality is top-notch.

In the past, my highest praise for a Spanish restaurant would have been that I would have taken my Spanish "step-grandmother" there with a clear conscience - but she sadly passed away 5 years ago (at the age of 100!)... She lived in Munich, but I think I would have honestly considered bringing her here!! An amazing selection of tapas, all of the highest quality (at least all 7 varieties my wife and I managed), lovely wine (presented very "unceremoniously"), very friendly and informal service (whose recommendations you should definitely follow: I've never experienced pork ribs as tapas, and the ones served here are "they call it" ;-)) The menu is very simple: everything is simply on the counter, you choose, and every pot costs the same. This naturally invites you to cherry-pick, as the ingredients vary in price – but the enjoyment only comes to its full potential with a well-rounded combination – so don't do that and choose what you like or find interesting: IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH IT!! I don't come to Cologne often – but "Manuela" is definitely one of my favorite places from now on…

We were there again Saturday evening. The food is delicious, and the selection is extensive. We always try everything and have never been disappointed! The service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere in the courtyard is very cozy. Always a wonderful experience.

The service was unfortunately not very friendly. We hadn't been seated for two seconds before we were asked what we wanted to drink. When we said we wanted to take a look first, the waiter left without a word. Since it was our first time there, we weren't familiar with the concept of ordering inside at the bar. However, we weren't informed about it until we asked about the food after a half-hour wait. There is no menu. You have to ask your way through the tapas at the bar. There, too, a waiter very rudely informed us that it wasn't our turn because the people behind us had arrived first. We weren't aware of this, and neither were the people behind us. The waiter at the tapas counter didn't want to introduce us to the tapas on offer (you'll fall asleep if I recite them all). Then we had to ask for answers, which ultimately resulted in the same thing. Unfortunately, the service here was far from accommodating. The tapas tasted quite good, hence at least 3 stars. But we won't come again.

Delicious, original and fair prices!

Really delicious tapas. The prices, unfortunately, were quite high. What ultimately ruined the atmosphere was the demanding way we paid for the tip. 😑 We paid by card and were immediately asked, "What about the tip? How much do you want to tip?" and pointed directly at the card terminal where the percentages were displayed. This cheeky and demanding attitude is completely unacceptable. Cringe. 😬

We were there on a Wednesday evening. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately, it was far too loud for conversation. Furthermore, the waiters were completely unacceptable. "Ours" was always talking loudly with the guests (his friends?) at the next table, drinking schnapps, and spending ages there, while we repeatedly had to wait a very long time for him to even place our drink orders. He was also unfriendly. Once, he brought the next table's devoured plates, placed them on our table, and then shouted back and forth with the next table for several minutes. We couldn't exchange a word during that time and instead stared incredulously at the unappealing pile of dishes in front of us. The waiter at the tapas table preferred a table with 10 undecided people, even though we waited longer, which was, of course, extremely annoying, but he seemed to care not at all. It's clear that the restaurant industry is in a staffing crisis and apparently you just have to take what you can get. It's a shame for this otherwise lovely place.

I get the ‘realness’ of this Tapas bar, as in, you feel like your family is cooking for you in a last minute configured table setting - it was simply waaay to loud, i could barely understand my friend, tho it was a friday night and summer, so probably on a normal weekday this is a lovely spot! The food could’ve been better as well, but good! Very nice staff

Aside from the delicious tapas, when you ask if you can pay by card, you shouldn't be asked in a demanding manner, "How do we handle the tip?" That's completely unacceptable, and I'm still appalled by it today. Besides, I always like to tip regularly; a server demanding it is more likely to hurt business. I now prefer other tapas bars in Cologne.

There are no better tapas in Cologne!

The tapas buffet offers a wide selection of different tapas. Everything was delicious. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the rule that requires you to get your own beer, but that's just my subjective opinion. I highly recommend a visit for dinner, ideally if the weather allows, as the indoor seating is very limited.

Great food, a bit noisy, lively, just like a tapas bar should be

So, I've lived in Cologne for over 10 years. The quality of this restaurant has deteriorated. The quantity... I mean, four pieces of bacon dates for a €6.50 tapas?! And the same goes for all the others. 13 tapas in total. And none of us were full. I'm very disappointed and, after many years of regular visits, I won't be going back. What a shame!

Still the best tapas restaurant in Cologne, in my opinion. I think the option to look at the tapas at the counter and choose your food there is a great and unique concept. There's something for everyone. Yes, as a short person (under 1.60 m) I can't see everything in the bowls (this was negatively rated in one of the recent reviews), but the staff are happy to take the time to explain everything. The aioli is world-class, and so is the sangria. It's also a great concept that you only pay for what you drink from the bottle. The boquerones fritos could have used a bit more spice, but otherwise, it was once again delicious. The only thing I find unfortunate is that you now have to sit outside under a white gazebo. It used to be nicer. But I think that also has something to do with noise protection (big thanks to the residents and the city of Cologne ;))?!

The last time I went, the food didn't taste very good. I don't know if it's because we went at 9 p.m., but it simply tasted like reheated food from the day before. The bill can't be split.

my favorite restaurant in Cologne. I've never eaten anything there that didn't taste absolutely amazing. A huge selection of everything: fish, meat, vegetarian dishes, healthier options and the drinks (especially the rosé) are delicious. Every birthday and every special occasion is celebrated there, my parents don't want to go anywhere else when they come to visit me from Saarland. The staff is not only competent but also very warm and personal. For me nothing comes close to Manuela's! :)

The food is really great! However, service is a thing - the store is often packed, so sometimes it's a real challenge to even place an order. Depending on where you sit, it can also be a bit rustic, as sometimes you sit on beer benches, which doesn't exactly offer the highest level of comfort. In short: The team is super friendly, but with the crowds they are often at their limits.

Not suitable for allergy sufferers! First of all, the food is delicious and I can't judge whether the price of 6.50 for a pan of vegetables is a lot. I thought 5 euros for a watery cola was quite a lot! But allergy sufferers have their problems. You don't order from a menu but go to a counter, point to a large pan or something similar and the waitress fills it into a bowl. This means you can hardly or only roughly ask about allergens; the noise in the restaurant makes it almost impossible anyway. -> The hot food we wanted came but it only took over 30 minutes -> You could only pay for the meal as a group and in cash!!!! Is this intended to generate more tips? No idea. But I didn't like it because it created group pressure to divide everything by the number of people. As a Zölli (gluten intolerance), I could only eat a little (because it couldn't be verified, I couldn't eat the bread) but had to subsidize the others' wine and desserts (which I didn't trust). Who starts discussions on site? --> The rooms weren't very comfortable on bar stool-like chairs without backrests and I had to sit on my jacket because the jacket rack was undersized and hopelessly overcrowded. --> Toilets were so averagely clean and the soap was empty. --> The counter to choose the tapas was much too high. Our 1.60 woman couldn't look into all the pans and the man behind the counter was also very short. Not a good combination if you have to look between the pans and talk in poor acoustics. Conclusion: Food is okay (if you trust the information) but the rest and especially the payment system are very unpleasant!

As with most Tapas places, the food is not 100% typically Spanish, more like what Germans expect to be typical. Good food nonetheless.

A pirate served us - even though he wasn't wearing an eye patch, I recognized him from his earrings, the bill and the terrible, unfriendly service! These bad-tempered hipsters (or do we call them all wannabe influencers without a crowd these days?) who think they're too sophisticated for the job (obviously they depend on it in real life), are just creepy and wrongly placed in the service. The store could have easily made twice as much revenue from us if only we had gotten regular drinks. With tapas you can rarely judge whether the food is tasty, in the end you mainly taste the oil soup in each bowl, but it was probably ok. But the selection is also strange, there is no menu, you can choose something at the front of the counter or trust the waiter, who doesn't try very hard to give advice or respond to requests, but simply brings something. By the way, plates weren't cleared at all, for hours! We then stacked everything ourselves. The bottles weren't put away either, supposedly they wanted to count how many we drank at the end... haha, cool! This matches the friendly notice on the door: No card payments and no separate invoices! You know what you can expect as a guest and tax office - namely nothing!

Unfortunately not recommended. Unfortunately, nothing really worked here. Many of the "tapas" are not particularly authentic. Although some typical ingredients are used or dishes are offered, the processing/preparation is sometimes very questionable and there are no classics such as morcilla. All in all, these are more like small dishes, some of which are cooked with products from the Mediterranean region. The taste of the individual dishes didn't convince me either; I found everything a bit boring. If you're looking for authentic Spanish tapas, you definitely shouldn't go here. About the ordering concept: The food is placed in large bowls at the counter and you decide there which “tapas” you would like. Unfortunately, there are no descriptions anywhere, so sometimes you don't really know what is what. The gentleman behind the counter was so annoyed and unfriendly that I didn't ask anything more after I asked. The service overall was rather unfriendly and seemed annoyed the whole time. In addition, it was really, really loud in the whole place so that you felt like you had to write while talking. So after dinner we left straight away and looked for a quieter place to chat for a bit. It's also a bit annoying that you can't pay by card. In my opinion, a visit here is not worth it. Bad food, unfriendly, unfriendly staff and the restaurant isn't nice or cozy either.

The tapas are awesome. You order at the counter and you can look at a lot of things there. In front of the bar there is a large freezer with beer (with alcohol, we without). This can be taken out here and will be settled at the table at the end. Additional drinks can be ordered at the counter. Everything sounds good, the only downer is the ambience. Yes, tapas bars are always rather simply furnished, but the temperatures here are also quite cool. This may be due to the open outdoor area and the old walls. I would do it again, yes, but rather in the warmer season.

Schönes Lokal, Essen ok, Service UNTERIRDISCH, keine Karte, Auswahl an der Theke. Ok, aber ohne Erklärung der Zutaten, auf Augenhöhe auswählen ist für kleine Menschen schwierig. Eine Übersicht wurde abgelehnt, "frag mich wenn Du was interessantes siehst" HAHA! Bei der Rechnung wurde sich im ersten Anlauf um 40 ( !) Euro verrechnet, schriftlicher Beleg / Rechnung gab es eh nicht, erst nach deutlicher Aufforderung. Unübersichtlich, lange Schlangen, NIE WIEDER!

A really quaint tapas bar in the middle of Cologne! At the counter there are mountains of large, flat clay bowls in which a wide variety of tapas are presented. You choose what you like and the tapas are brought to your table after they have been heated. There are also home-made sangria or various other drinks. Wine only in bottles - but you only pay for what you drink. You only pay per table - everything is wonderfully rustic and quaint. We've been there several times with friends - reserving a table is highly recommended because the shop is always busy - and I understand why. Always happy if you like it rustic. Not exactly cheap - but really good - and that's really worth the money for us.

It was with high expectations that I returned after years to a tapas restaurant that I once greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, this visit turned out to be a sobering experience, mainly due to the inadequate service. We had reservations for 6:30 p.m. and I arrived a few minutes early. As soon as I entered the restaurant I was greeted very unfriendly by a stressed out waiter. After initially ignoring me, he turned to me annoyed and asked in an inappropriate tone: “What?!” When I replied that I had a reservation, he initially didn’t respond at all and then, also very annoyed, asked about it names. He then led me wordlessly to our table, fired the cards in front of me without informing us that you have to order the drinks from the waiter and the food at the counter and left. This rude and dismissive attitude continued throughout the entire evening with this waiter. Although some other employees were friendlier, they were unfortunately often very overwhelmed. Our drink orders were forgotten several times and we sometimes had to wait up to 20 minutes for them. The only positive thing about this evening was the food, which is still excellent!!!! Particularly recommended are the feta in dough with honey, the chickpeas with spinach and the pimientos. In conclusion, the quality of the food unfortunately did not make up for our feeling of not being welcome

The food is not labeled and everyone has to ask questions about the tapas individually, which only makes the wait in the crowd worse. If you don't sit in the beer garden, the atmosphere is desolate and dirty. Cobwebs in every corner, terrible music (I would have expected something different in a Spanish tapas bar) and the staff seem more annoyed than friendly. Unfortunately I was there for the first and last time.

The Manuela Tapasbar is already one of the very good ones here in Cologne. It's not for nothing that the bar is so busy. You have to choose the tapas in the front area, which are in large bowls. The staff then fills small portions and warms them before serving at the table. Unfortunately, it happened to me that the temperature of the tapas wasn't as hot as I would have liked. Otherwise the tapas are delicious. The selection is also huge. The prices are within the normal range. The staff seemed friendly and tried hard. Especially in summer you can spend a nice evening outside here.

Really a fantastic selection of tapas and the location almost automatically creates the right flair. Only in the service area could something be optimized, as it is not entirely clear at first who can order what and where. But this is also quickly resolved thanks to the friendly staff.

Super tasty tapas - the only disadvantage is that you have to order everything at the counter and sometimes you also have to get the drinks (e.g. beer) yourself. Since we were there with a larger group, we always had to “climb out” of the corner. I will definitely come back anyway. :)

Totally delicious food, very good rosé, top aioli. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere in the courtyard is very cozy. Been there ten times and will definitely be there ten more times. My recommendation are the ribs, chorizos and feta cheese in puff pastry. I've already tried a few tapas and haven't found anything that wasn't tasty. Prices are completely okay (all tapas cost the same), drinks are a little more expensive but within reason. Keep it up, Manuela!

Super delicious food at reasonable and fair prices. There is no menu, you order directly at the counter. Tapas cost a flat rate of €5.90 per bowl. The portion size is ok! Sometimes it's a bit chaotic - also in terms of service, but just like you would expect from a "real" tapas bar in Spain. The staff is very warm and in a good mood. Very authentic - you feel like you're on vacation! 😁

Incredibly good, authentic and varied tapas!!!! I would say some of the best in Cologne. Price performance is absolutely top! All tapas cost the same and the drinks prices are also completely reasonable. The two of us paid 58 for 7 tapas, 0.5 liters of sangria and a large bottle of sparkling water. The service is super on point and friendly. The only catch is the acoustics. Once the store is quite full, it is unbearably loud. You hardly understand your own words and have to make a lot of effort when speaking and listening. We only lasted until after dinner and then had to leave. My ears still hurt the next day. In the future, I'll go there during the week in the hope that the noise will be better there.

The food is then warmed up. Unit price of €6.50 per tapas. The portions with potatoes or grilled vegetables are slightly larger than, for example, shrimp. The service is ok, the furnishings are just mediocre. It's quite narrow and therefore very loud very quickly. The dishes were tasty, but not outstanding. Unfortunately, I've eaten tapas more pleasantly and better. It was way too loud for me :(

Die Leute sind total nett. Und die Babycalamaris und der Thunfisch sind der Hammer! Auch sehr zu empfehlen die Rippchen in Rotwein! Das Bier konnte ich mir selbst nehmen und der Wein wird nach dem abgerechnet was man aus der Flasche getrunken hat. So mag ich das!

Great selection, everything very tasty. Bread and garlic sauce to die for! We were 30 minutes late, but the table was kept free. Friday evening is definitely not a given!
