A piece of Cuba in the heart of Cologne! The entrecôte was a dream – perfectly grilled, juicy, and full of flavor. The tapas? Absolutely outstanding, each one a hit. And then the rum: personally made by the owner, with true passion and Caribbean soul. One sip of it, and you feel like you're on a warm veranda in Havana. I really can't understand the occasional reviews with less than 5 stars. The owner and the entire team are warm, attentive, and make the visit a truly unique experience. Carlos is more than a restaurant – it's a short vacation for the senses. I'll definitely be back!

It was a very nice evening. The owners are friendly but not pushy, the food was good and plentiful, the wine was perfect, and the place is pleasant. It's tidy and bright—not a place crammed with folklore. We liked it a lot.

Very nice service, but I was very disappointed with the food. When ordering meat, you really have to order every side dish on your plate separately, otherwise you will actually only be served one piece of meat. This not only makes the whole thing very expensive, but it also seems extremely uninspired and doesn't fit with today's times. One involuntarily asks oneself: where is the culinary art here? Then we ordered a mixed tapas plate, which looked as if I had just put together a few ingredients from my private fridge because a few guests had come unexpectedly. It's a shame, the operators are very nice, the place is nicely decorated.

Calamari had no flavor and was mushy. We told the staff and they didn’t care.

Very nice cozy facility. The service very good. However, the food was totally overpriced. Tapas mixed plates for 2 people, very clear, and for almost 30 euros. Bread with a small bowl of aioli for just 9 euros. Outrageous. We won't be back despite the very friendly service

The best steaks in Cologne, with personal character and great prices. The 200g steak (rump steak) costs €20.90 and for me it is already cheap for the good quality - important! Personally, I don't think the 300g steak full cut was a success because it usually corresponds to English well or rare instead of medium - but the shop can prepare the flatter steaks perfectly! The rice is usually always top notch this time a little dry but mistakes can happen ;-)! Boss and employees very nice and accommodating as well as warm. The red house wine is a poem and the rump steak with rice and black beans is awesome! Thanks

We always had to wait quite a long time to even be able to order. Too bad. The food came after a normal waiting time. After that, they didn't care about us anymore, but rather were busy having a detailed conversation with perhaps a regular guest, which is certainly very important... The selection of tapas is quite limited. For the money, the service and selection are not good enough for us.

A culinary highlight on Dürener Straße! The CARLOS Cuban restaurant not only impresses with authentic Cuban dishes, but also with an incomparable ambience. The menu offers a great selection of traditional Cuban dishes, all fresh and prepared with love. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, which further enriches the evening. You immediately feel welcome and in good hands. The price-performance ratio is also perfect.

Unfortunately I cannot make a recommendation. My wife and I were there this evening. The order was taken quite quickly, but after a long wait - the restaurant was almost empty - my steak arrived without any side dish. The waitress, a temporary worker, said the side dish would come immediately. When I was halfway through my steak, I had to complain to the waiter. Another two minutes later the potato pieces arrived, but they weren't really cooked through and tasted bad. I sent them back. The innkeeper Carlos and his assistant reacted very unprofessionally and insulted us. Although they soon admitted that they had forgotten the supplement, the incident was very unpleasant. We paid, even though the plates were still half full, and left the restaurant. I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant and I definitely won't be back.

Very good, humorous and fast service. Good kitchen. Comparatively you pay a little more, but it's okay. Tortilla was out. We were all (5 people) satisfied.

The food is excellent, we had two tapas, a steak and Cuban pulled pork. The employees are very nice, you immediately feel very comfortable and welcome. The recommended Argentinian red wine and the homemade rum are highly recommended. We'll definitely come back more often now, thanks for the lovely evening!

I was blinded by the rating index on Google and TripAdvisor. I would have better looked more closely. The ambience was okay, although nothing special. The service was also relatively friendly. The food however…?! Oh God. It was completely forgettable, both visually and taste-wise. Just by looking at the menu (bad mistake that I hadn't done this online beforehand) it became clear: you wouldn't be expecting a big kitchen here. I The number of side dishes with the steak is ridiculously small and extremely boring, you have to look for vegetables, the side salad was worthy of that in a snack bar. Out of necessity it became a baked potato (yes, you can eat it, but nothing more). My companion had a braised dish. This was also not recommended. Alternating layers of unseasoned tomato and cucumber slices were served as side dishes. Visually it's a complete disaster, in terms of taste... yeah... raw food, right?! As a starter we had an aioli, which wasn't convincing either, the baguette that was served with it was the cheapest baguette from the supermarket. In the end we had €80 on the bill for a meal that really wasn't good. Never again !

Carlos provides a great dining experience with amazing food, wine, and rum. The steaks are the best I’ve had in Europe and rum is silky smooth. The side sauces add a lot of flavor to the dishes also. Bring Cash for payment!

Hervorragende Tapas gegessen. Sehr zuvorkommend bedient. Ich bin beim Essen - so sagen andere - ziemlich penibel. Ich habe noch nie so leckere Tapas gegessen. Einfach nur absolut Mega. Mein Sohn wohnt um die Ecke. Hier wird man mich öfter sehen, das steht fest.

Schönes Ambiente, freundlicher Service und schmackhafte kubanische Speisen

Das Restaurant liegt direkt am sehr belebten Teil der Dürener Straße. Die Einrichtung ist rustikal aber durchaus einladend. Das Speisenangebot umfasst vor allem Tapas und Steaks, abgerundet von einigen typisch kubanischen Gerichten. Einige der Tapas sind etwas uninspiriert, qualitativ gibt es aber nichts auszusetzen. Gambas sowie kreolisches Rindfleisch sind zu empfehlen. Die Steaks sind auf den Punkt und auch die Beilagen schmackhaft. Die kubanischen Klassiker sind ebenfalls eine Empfehlung. Die Auswahl an Desserts ist übersichtlich aber sehr lecker. Die offenen Weine sind nicht besonders markant, es gibt auf Nachfrage aber ein gutes Angebot und auch die Cocktails sind lecker. Es gibt zudem eine recht umfassende Auswahl verschiedener Rumsorten. Es sind leider viele Standardmarken dabei aber es befinden sich auch kubanische Köstlichkeiten auf der Liste. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist gut. Sowohl Speisen als auch Getränke sind absolut im Rahmen.

Seit Jahren mein Stamm Lokal. Das Beste das es in Köln gibt. Immer Top immer freundlich. Guter Service mediterranes Ambiente.

Kubanisches Restaurant. Zufällig entdeckt. Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, erlebt man kaum noch. Essen war richtig lecker,tolle Tapas, zartes Fleisch, gute Portionen.

Ich bin mega begeistert. Preis Leistung stimmt. Das Essen ist soooo gut, ich könnte jeden Tag hin gehen 🙈 Das Ambiente ist super gemütlich und macht einen lockeren eleganten Eindruck. Ganz großes Lob geht an den Service! Jedes Mal wenn ich dort bin fühle ich mich wie bei guten Freunden:) Meine Empfehlung: Ausprobieren ✅️

Katastrophales Fleisch wie eine Schuhsohle. Lohnt gar nicht. Bedienung war sehr unhöflich und hat nichts verstanden.

Das Essen war bestens. Folienkartoffeln! Leider war es uns zu kalt. Das hängt bestimmt mit der Energiekrise zusammen, aber für mich etwas zu ungemütlich.

Wir haben nach einem sehr netten Empfang einen gemütlichen Platz in der Nähe der Theke bekommen. Sämtliches Team spricht spanisch, was dem ganzen einen ganz besonderen Charme verleiht. Das Essen war super lecker und der Rum aufs Haus hat das ganze abgerundet. 11/10! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Das Steak war perfekt und superzahrt. Die Tapas waren etwas mager. Wir waren allerdings auch am letzten Tag vor den Betriebsferien dort. Kann sein das die Küche dadurch schon reduziert war. Trotzdem zu empfehlen.

Top Fleisch, guter offener Wein und freundliche Bedienung. Die Preise fair. Vorne sitzt man schönsten.

Hammer essen, waren grad da und wir können es nur weiter empfehlen. Schade das wir zu weit weg wohnen und nur dieses Wochenende da sind. Hätten den Koch am liebsten mit genommen. Update: gehen seit 6 Jahren jedes Jahr hier essen und das Essen ist immer wieder ein Traum.

Was für ein tolles Restaurant. Mega nettes Personal / Besitzer. Authentisches Essen. Tolle Athmosphäre. Die Speisen sind frisch, lecker und gute Portionen. Alle Daumen hoch. Ebenfalls eine außergewöhnlich große Auswahl an "Absackern" Ein paar wenige Tische in der Aussengastronomie (Dürener Straße) Schöne Inneneinrichtung. Immer und auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

Ich kann leider nur drei Sterne geben. Grund: Wir waren an einem Samstagabend dort und haben eigentlich sehr leckere Tapas dort gegessen. Der Wein war auch gut. Leider wurde so gegen 21:30 Uhr der Abend dort beendet. Licht aus… Ende der Veranstaltung… Schade… Wie bereits geschrieben, das Essen war lecker.

Das Carlos ist einfach eine Bank. Perfektes Fleisch, perfekte Tapas, sehr gute Getränkeauswahl, sehr nette Bedienungen, und oft am Ende einen Rum aufs Haus mit dem Chef. Am Wochenende ist eine Reservierung ratsam. Insgesamt ein richtig gutes Restaurant, in das man immer wieder gerne wiederkommt.

Die Qualität der Speisen sind sehr hochwertig und es schmeckt einfach sehr gut .die Besitzer und der Service sind sehr nett und sehr aufmerksam rundum gelungen

DieTapas sind unterdurchschnittlich. Lieblos arrangiert, die Sardellen nicht ausgenommen, bitter im Geschmack, die frittierten Calamari labbrig weich. Wer leckere , raffinierte Tapas erwartet wird enttäuscht werden. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt hier gar nicht. Nie wieder.

Endlich mal ein Restaurant, das ein perfektes medium-rare Entrecôte zubereitet. Auch wenn der Service manchmal freundlicher sein könnte.

Sehr leckeres Essen, teilweise etwas zu viel gewürzt. Die Steaks sind sehr lecker und von sehr guter Qualität. Auch die anderen Gerichte, Soßen, Brot, Tapas und Hühnchen alles wirklich richtig lecker und gute Portionen. Trotz der vielen Kellner muss man allerdings immer wieder aktiv nach neuen Getränken fragen. Obwohl der Laden sehr gemütlich aussieht, ist er sehr laut und es ist ein ständiges Gewusel. Obwohl noch viele Tische besetzt sind, beginnt die Mannschaft zu dritt, vorne am Nachbartisch das komplette Besteck zu polieren und zu sortieren. Das macht einen solchen Lärm, dass es wirklich stört. Danach hängen die Geschirrtücher über den Stühlen des Nachbartischs. Auch kein schöner Anblick. Zum Essen top, zum späteren Verweilen nervig.

Heute Abend war wohl leider wieder ein Mal die unrühmliche Ausnahme bei so vielen tollen Bewertungen;) Fleisch und Tapas absoluter Durchschnitt. Die Tapas tatsächlich eher schlecht und dass für Kölner Verhältnisse. Der Service einfach nur dreist. Nach echt richtig mieser Performance gabs für die 10% Tip nicht mal ein Danke. Leider ein never again!

Wir hatten wohl leider Pech. Ich hatte das Steak „Carlos“. Leider war das Fleisch von vielen Sehnen völlig durchzogen. So stark das man es nicht mit dem Steakmesser schneiden konnte. Ich konnte gerade mal ein Viertel davon essen. Ich gab das Steak zurück und bat um Ersatz. Dann kam allerdings ein sehr unfreundlicher Koch mit einem rohen Steak und zeigte mir, das auch das voller Sehnen ist. Er ranzte mich an, „was soll ich machen“. Ich erklärte ihm wenn das ganze Stück nicht essbar wäre könne er es nicht zum Gast schicken. Das sah er nicht so. Ich fand das Verhalten des Kochs sehr unverschämt. Solche Gastronomiebetriebe überleben auf der Dürener zum Glück nie lange. Keine positive Empfehlung für das „Carlos“.

Top Qualität zum fairen Preis und toller Service

Wir hatten einen richtig schönen Abend hier. Die Auswahl an Essen war gut und die Preise sind in Ordnung. Essen war perfekt. Bedienung war zuvorkommend und freundlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

"Willkommen zu Hause" sagt Carlos oft. Zuhause macht mir zwar keiner so ein gigantisches Steak ABER bei Carlos fühlt man sich einfach wohl. EIN Besuch bei Carlos ist für den Magen und sie Seele gut!

Hervorragendes Fleisch und nette Bedienung

Der erste Eindruck war ganz gut, doch es wurde dann mit zunehmender Zeit immer schlechter. Nur eine einzige kubanische Spezialität in einem kubanischen Restaurant ist etwas dünn (war aber soweit lecker). Nach dem Essen wollten wir noch Nachspeise bestellen, wurden aber rund 30 Minuten überhaupt nicht mehr beachtet, obwohl das lokal kaum besetzt war. Die Nachspeise (Crème brûlée) war mit viel zu viel Zucker überzogen (ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass das geht) und die Crème selbst hatte schon eine dicke Haut an der Oberfläche, ungenießbar. Da hilft dann auch die Freundlichkeit des netten, blonden Kellners nicht. Daher gibt's wohlwollende 3 Sterne, wir werden wohl nicht wieder kommen.

Gutes Steak, freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung. Wir waren alle sehr zufrieden.

Leider hatten wir nicht die Möglichkeit die Hauptspeisen zu probieren, da wir sie nach 1 1/2 Std immer noch nicht hatten und keine Lust mehr noch länger zu warten, obwohl wir schon um 19.00 Uhr da waren.
