La Bodega in Köln

Mediocre at best. The three of us ordered a wide selection of different tapas. Unfortunately, I have to say that they were almost entirely insignificant, some of them very tasteless, and the quality of the goods was rather low. Let's take a closer look at a few of the dishes: the prawns in spicy garlic olive oil were completely tasteless, with no garlic, no olive oil, and no spicy flavor. They were cooked more in a watery broth that didn't make you want to dip your bread in it. The fried prawns were unfortunately similarly bland. The Serrano ham was of low quality and very reminiscent of the sale items you'd find during Spanish weeks at the relevant discount stores. The same goes for the Manchego. The meatballs were very dry and very sparingly seasoned. The fried calamari looked and tasted more like a frozen product to me than "homemade batter." Given the rather reasonable price for the breaded crab claws, I should have known beforehand that they were serving pressed frozen meatballs. My mistake. That should be enough of a cross-section to illustrate what I mean. The atmosphere itself is okay, but the tables are very close together, which is very operator-friendly. Luckily, the place was only about half full, so the noise was just about bearable. I'd like to know if the operators themselves consider the products served as 5-star tapas and would claim that this is excellent quality, prepared with passion. So, unfortunately, I'll only give it a rounded-up 3 stars, since half stars aren't allowed. 😉 Low risk of repeating.

Exceeded expectations. A great place for people to get a taste of German cuisine. I would go back. Good value for money.

Great Spanish restaurant with super delicious tapas on Friesenstraße and thus right in the center of Cologne (I don't mean the old town)

The seating was a bit cramped for my taste. Cologne, that's just how it is. The food was delicious, the waiter was on the ball. The Kölsch beer was too warm and lacking in carbonation.

A lovely tapas bar, not exactly what you'd expect. The narrow entrance belies its size. The food is good, and so are the drinks, with a wide selection! Service is also good and friendly. The terrace makes you forget that you're eating in the middle of the party district. I'd be happy to go back.

The food was delicious, but the service really spoiled the evening. It was busy, but for my taste, the wait for drinks was far too long. If the food takes a while, that's understandable, but waiting over 20 minutes for drinks is just too much.

I haven't been there for a long time. But the stark difference in quality was shocking. It is well known that most things here are just warmed up, but most of the dishes were only lukewarm. The background noise in the “winter garden” was no less frightening. But the worst thing was that the food spoke to us for the rest of the evening. It's a real shame for such a former institution. Never again for me.

The food was ok but more like three than four stars. We were there with nine people and got the worst table in the restaurant despite having a reservation. It was very dark and right under the speakers. Unfortunately, when we asked, they didn't help us and instead claimed that everything was reserved, which, as we later observed, was not the case.

Great food, unfortunately very loud but timely place

Hier geniesst man Tapas wie in Spanien. Die Küche ist authentisch, ehrlich und ohne Schnörkel, aber verdammt lecker. An warmen Abenden unbedingt im Innenhof sitzen / reservieren…dann ist das „Spanien - Feeling“ nahe an perfekt.

The service was friendly and the food was served quickly. The wine was very tasty, the dishes had very different tastes; From school grades 4 to 1, everything was there. Reasonably priced. Overall we didn't like it that much.

Yesterday we were there with a group of 5 girls. It's a really quaint but nice inviting restaurant. From the super friendly service to the super delicious food, everything was just perfect! We all felt very comfortable and can recommend this restaurant 100%. We recommend everyone to try the unique, delicious olives.

We ordered and were not served and were treated stupidly by the waitress. I was treated very badly and had to cry. Still, no one approached me. I don't know how you can treat customers like that. I just wanted to eat good tapas.

If you are Spanish, don't come because you will leave crying. They put tomato sauce on the patatas bravas. Croquettes that I honestly didn't know what they were, and a honey chicken that came straight from a Chinese restaurant. If you are German, well, I understand it, but if you are Spanish, don't do this to yourself.

We were here with a larger group on a Friday evening and had reserved a table. My expectations were high because I had heard a lot of positive things about “La Bodega”. First of all, the atmosphere is very nice and authentic, a bit rustic, but always pleasant. Unfortunately we had to move into a side room that didn't have the same charm as the main rooms. Unfortunately, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and responded to questions about intolerances with a bit of annoyance. We simply have to act more professionally here. The tapas and drinks we ordered were served quickly. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with the tapas. There were a few good ones (patatas bravas, goat cheese with almonds and honey), but unfortunately also some bad ones. The bacon-wrapped dates were completely burnt and black. The mushrooms were completely mushy and the shrimp, on the other hand, were fried for far too long. The meat and cheese platter had a lot of meat on it, but almost no cheese at all. I ate better tapas from other Spaniards in Cologne. The sangria, on the other hand, was okay. Overall - also considering the prices - a bit disappointing.

The restaurant is very nice, the front area is very narrow (but cozy) but there is more space in the back. Everything is very old. Tapas are very tasty and there is plenty to choose from. You write the numbers on a piece of paper and we were still missing a few things. Sometimes you had to wait for drinks.

The ambience is good, the service this time was friendly but not attentive. The warm tapas are at best mediocre in comparison and used to be better. The wine went great.

Excellent tapas, great service and typical Spanish ambience

The atmosphere here is great. No question. We are always greeted warmly. Beforehand there is bread, olives and aioli. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the quality of the food has declined. The chicken skewers were partly raw and, according to a comment to the waitress, they came back to us better fried, but still a little raw. Despite the few seats being occupied this Tuesday, we rarely saw the waitress. They could certainly have made a little more sales with us. 😉 It's a shame, because today I gave it another chance - after my last visit a few weeks ago.

Tasty food with generous quantity. The juice was not fresh. The waiter was polite and smiling. Honest stuff, we forgot our daughter purse at the restaurant and went back after 30 minutes and found it safe with them. Thanks 🙏🏼

Simply a very successful Saturday evening, there were three of us, two of us very experienced in tapas and one newbie. Everyone was more than impressed by the quality and taste of the food. The very courteous and warm staff combined with the typical bodega ambience rounded off the excellent overall impression. You can now look for such a nice dining experience in the service desert of Germany with a magnifying glass. We will definitely be back, there is still so much to discover that one evening is not enough. Thanks to the La Bodega team for the wonderful evening and see you soon. Highly recommended.

Such a shame. Would be a cute location a couple of dishes are nice. The rest are not Spanish, but German. curry sauce is Germán. The staff and the atmosphere is appalling. Would not want to recommend or return myself.

Except for the tortilla (unfortunately cold and very dry), all the tapas were very tasty! We had grilled shrimp, pimientos and a ham and cheese platter.

We went there very briefly on the weekend to drink wine and eat something, but the atmosphere is so cozy that I would like to go there for dinner every now and then. Very good food and it was a very nice evening

Very good and quite large tapas and delicious wine. However, I find the room a bit narrow and loud when it's full. There are more seats available in the back, but they were never open when I was there.

The food on site is good, the service (particularly depending on the occupancy) seems to suffer from a lack of staff. What is annoying is that reservations are canceled a few hours before the reserved time without comment and there are no replies at all to requests for catering. Overall annoying - in combination therefore still well-intentioned 3 stars.

One assumes from outside, not the size of the place. We had ordered a table for 5 people by phone. Since the weather was very nice yesterday, we asked if we could eat outside. This wasn't in the plans of the restaurant but the consistently friendly staff made it possible. We ordered various tapas and were given bread, olives and aioli beforehand. Fresh, crispy and delicious 😋 What can I say? Our food was completely eaten 😋that speaks for itself. At the end there was a really delicious dessert. Frozen orange filled with ice cream and topped with cream. Thanks to the very friendly staff who seem to enjoy their work. We'll definitely be back!

I was disappointed with the food. The restaurant actually has a good reputation, but our food was lukewarm. The first drink order went quickly, but after that you only saw hectic employees. The order is not taken personally, but we had to write down the numbers. It's not clear, we promptly didn't receive a dish and one that we didn't order was more expensive. The sangria tasted very strongly of spices and unfortunately little fruit. The dessert, however, was good. For 5 tapas, 1 dessert and drinks it costs around 45 to 50 euros. Overall, there is room for improvement... the staff was friendly, but not particularly attentive.

I was in Cologne for work and ended up alone in La Bodega in the evening. I received a very warm welcome and excellent service 🙏🏽 The food was also very tasty and the service was really top! If I'm in Cologne again, I'll definitely know where I'm going to eat. Absolute recommendation

I come from Spain and have lived in Bavaria for 10 years. I've tried Spanish restaurants in Bamberg, Coburg, Nuremberg, Munich or Berlin... but this beautiful restaurant in the heart of Cologne caught my heart. Like at home. The staff very nice and friendly. If I didn't live 4 hours away by car... I would be here at least twice a month ❤️🫶 Muchas gracias equipo 💪❤️

We've been there several times, most recently I celebrated my birthday there. Great atmosphere, nicely decorated (with lots of old hams on the wall), attentive waiters, delicious tapas. Sometimes a bit tight, especially on the courtyard terrace.

If you like it busy and loud, like me, this is the place for you. The restaurant is very busy, very narrow and cozy and overall everything is very "lively". Simply beautiful here :-) The tapas were very, very tasty. The Spanish beer too. I'd be happy to come back at any time

Dritte und Finale Location einer Rätsel-Diner-Tour. Dank guter Planung des Veranstalters, war unser Tisch bereit und man musste auf das Essen nicht lange warten. Dieses war ein Menü der Sonderklasse. Reichhaltig, gute Portionen und obendrein Mega lecker. Der Eingangsbereich wirkt nach einer sehr engen Bar und man erkennt nicht, dass dahinter liegende Restaurant, welches ein typisch spanisches Ambiente bietet.

Delicious Rosado, fantastic Creme Catalan for dessert. The tapas was good but not outstanding. Still worth recommending.

Wir hatten mit insgesamt sechs Mädels einen wunderschönen und super leckeren Abend! Wir hatten vorab einen Tisch reserviert. Die Reservierung lief super einfach und unkompliziert. Eine Reservierung ist empfehlenswert, da das Restaurante sehr beliebt ist. Das Personal war super freundlich, der Service war trotz ausgebuchten Lokal schnell und freundlich. Vom Essen waren wir total begeistert!! Alles hat so unglaublich lecker geschmeckt! Die Nachbestellungen und die Bezahlung liefen schnell und ohne Probleme. Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen, wir werden definitiv wieder kommen!

In Google steht am 11.11. geöffnet. Dann läuft man 40 Min zu Fuß durch die Stadt und auch zurück. Leider geschlossen. Falsche Öffnungszeiten in Google. Sehr schlecht so etwas.

Die Auswahl der Tapas ist groß und alles war köstlich! Der Service ist sehr freundlich und gut! Die hausgemachte Sangria ist auch ein Genuss! Man sollte einen Tisch im oberen Bereich buchen, da es im Kellergewölbe etwas eng ist, aber auch gemütlich!

Muy mala atención, pésimo servicio, aún habiendo reservado mesa para cernar, nos querían poner en una barra contra la pared. No recomendable en absoluto.

Das Restaurant war voll besetzt, die Tische und Stühle sehr eng gestellt. Ziemlich laute Geräuschkulisse. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Bedienung sehr nett.

Total schöner, authentischer Laden, in dem es eine große Auswahl an warmen und kalten Tapas gibt. Der Service ist mega freundlich und zuvorkommend und das Essen sehr lecker. Auch der frische Sangria war ein Knüller.

Hier kannst du verdursten, Bedienung überfordert. Erstbestellung kann man nich aufgeben, dann kommt der Kellner selten. Außerdem viele Gerichte nicht verfügbar.

Das Essen war ganz gut. Wir hatten für zwei Personen 9 verschiedene Tapas bestellt und das hat absolut gereicht. Anscheinend waren das Restaurant gut ausgebucht und deswegen saßen wir auf der kleinen Terrasse, was am Ende auch eine bessere Entscheidung war, weil es drin ziemlich laut ist. Der Kellner war sehr freundlich.

Essen und Getränke solide. Ambiente ok. Service zwar freundlich, aber völlig überfordert. Mehrfach Getränke-Bestellungen aufgegeben, die nicht mehr kamen. Abgeräumt wurde auch sehr lange nichts. Auf die Rechnung mussten wir ewig warten müssen.

Schöne Tapas-Bar mit sehr leckeren Tapas. Was mich beim Hereinkommen gewundert hat, ist wie groß diese Bar ist. Immer wieder kann man abbiegen und kommt in einen anderen Raum oder den offenen Innenhof, der besonders im Sommer einfach herrlich ist. Durch die vielen Gäste ist das Personal ganz schön am Rotieren. Die Tapas-Auswahl ist angemessen üppig, für jeden ist etwas dabei. Die Zubereitung sehr lecker und mit Liebe gekocht, man merkt das die Köche mit Herz dabei sind.

Unscheinbar von außen. Geht einfach mal rein und schaut euch um. Sehr schöner Außenbereich. Tapas wirklich lecker. Aioli der Hammer. Fette Datteln im Speckmantel 😀 Personal wirklich freundlich. Wir hatten einen tollen Abend und kommen wieder. Und um die Ecke ist auch ein Parkhaus was bezahlbar ist, wenn man mit dem Auto kommen möchte.

Ich war in den letzten Jahren 3-4x hier und liebe das La Bodega. Toller Service, wirklich sehr aufmerksame Keller, kein langes Warten auf das Essen und alles schmeckt immer ausgezeichnet. Am Besten reservieren, ist oft voll am Wochenende.

Hier gibt es Tapas, nicht billig aber super lecker! Nette, freundliche Bedienung, Wein durfte probiert werden! Waren zu dritt und alle waren begeistert! Wenn wir in Köln sind, kommen wir wieder!

Total netter Service. Leckere Tapas!

Am Freitagabend haben wir recht spontan noch einen Platz für zwei bekommen. Zur Begrüßung wird aufs Haus Brot mit Aioli und Oliven gereicht; bestellt man davon nach, zahlt man dafür einen recht geringen Preis. Die Tapas waren sehr lecker - unbedingt zu empfehlen sind die marinierten Artischockenherzen und der Ziegenkäse mit Mandeln und Honig. Auch die Crema Catalana zum Dessert hat ausgezeichnet geschmeckt. Teilweise musste man etwas auf die Bedienung warten, da der Laden sehr groß ist und sehr voll war. Die Bedienung war trotz Stress durchweg freundlich. Außerdem sollte man sich darauf einstellen, dass die Tische recht eng gestellt sind und die Bedienung sich je nach Sitzplatz recht oft an einem vorbeiquetschen muss.
