Mangal in Leer (Ostfriesland)

The food was fine, but we found the service rude and unfriendly. We were told to finish our meal because a group was arriving in 10 minutes. We hadn't been told this when we entered and requested a table for two. I wouldn't go back there anytime soon!

A very delicious Turkish restaurant! We visited several times during our vacation and tried a variety of dishes. Everything was tender, delicious, and spicy. It immediately felt like we were on vacation in Turkey. ...and the ayran is also fresh and obviously homemade. Excellent!

Visited this restaurant for the first time today. There were three of us and we sat outside. Unfortunately, the noise level was quite loud due to a neighboring construction site, but that's not the restaurant owner's fault. We received a friendly welcome, and our drinks arrived promptly. The food arrived piping hot after a wait of about 25 minutes, and we were delighted with both the quantity and the taste. From our perspective, we can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant. We also had a small dog with us. It wasn't a problem outside. We can't say whether dogs are allowed inside.

The food is excellent, and the staff is very friendly. It's a bit noisy for a leisurely dinner, but we'll be back anyway.

Unfortunately, the Sigara Böregi appetizer didn't have the seasoning of real sheep's cheese. They were quite soggy, and the salad wasn't very tasty. The salad from the doner kebab and meat kebab plates were equally tasteless. The meat kebab plate was very tasty; the meat was perfectly seasoned and very tender. The doner kebab plate had the meat draped over the bulgur, which overpowered the flavor of the meat in the bulgur. If it had been separated, it would have received 4 stars. Employees and their friends/family were smoking right in the open doors, and the smoke wafted into the interior toward us.

This was the first time and it will be the last time because the food was not tasty and the price was very high and the quantity was small for the price

I ate here for the first time today. Great restaurant. Fast service, very attentive at first, but unfortunately mediocre later on. The food arrived quickly. We had the grill platter. The minced lamb skewers were a bit too spicy for me, and the lamb chops were unfortunately a bit overcooked. Nevertheless, a beautifully presented dish. Bulgur 🤤👌. Open kitchen, you can sit outside or inside. The restroom was modern and clean.

Had lunch with colleagues in Leer yesterday. Mangal in the heart of Leer's old town. Very cozy, very customer-friendly, and incredibly delicious food. The glass kitchen is particularly noteworthy. We probably didn't quite make the right choice with the baked doner meat. Without the additional bulgur, the portion would have been much too small for me. Also, when the menu says "on tomatoes," it seemed there wasn't enough tomato in it. The bulgur, like the baked doner meat, tasted really good. But at just under €17 per portion, the value for money isn't right for me. The portions of other guests, like the pide, certainly offer better value for money. The 3 stars for the food are due to the small portion and the hefty price tag. With a different dish, my rating would probably have been much higher.

We ate at this restaurant about two weeks ago. For starters, we ordered Beyaz Penir and Sigara Böregi. Both starters were ready relatively quickly and were not tasty. In my opinion, the starters were not freshly prepared, but rather industrially produced items that had simply been warmed up, and for €16.00. For main courses, we had Tavuk Sis and Iskender Doner, each for €18.90. The Tavuk Sis came on a skewer. Other restaurants offer two skewers for less. The doner was served lukewarm. Overall, the portions were meager, the food overpriced, and not worth the money. We were both disappointed and definitely cannot recommend the restaurant.

We ate here twice. It was excellent both times. The meat was very tender and the food was very well seasoned. The service was really good. The young waitress remembered our orders, and the food came very quickly and was freshly prepared. All in all, two wonderful evenings and a definite recommendation from me.

The food tasted good, and I was satisfied with that. Unfortunately, my overall experience was still disappointing. I ordered "some meat" with my meal without being informed that it would be charged as a full meat dish. So, in the end, I wasn't just charged for a small side dish, but for an entire additional plate, including the full price. I find this very unfair and misleading. A brief explanation or question when ordering could have easily prevented this. As a result, I almost ran out of cash because I didn't have my card with me. This seems like a rip-off to me and unfortunately significantly tarnished the otherwise positive impression.

We came there by chance. Four people, and despite the many reservations, it was no problem getting a table. The service was first-class. The food is truly amazing, from the charcoal grill, a kind of show cooking. You can see into the kitchen. The taste and quality are very good, and the side dishes, flatbread, and salad are also very good. I can't remember having enjoyed better Turkish food anywhere else. The value for money is also really good.

Nothing special, the food is okay, the atmosphere is okay, but there's a lot of smoke and fumes outside, and your clothes can get affected, which isn't particularly pleasant. The staff is okay, but nothing more; nothing special... You can, but you don't have to. To each his own.

We were there very often, unfortunately my parents had 3 ml of very bad meat, it smelled very bad, we were there yesterday and unfortunately it was very bad and very raw... For the price you should also offer something to grab for a short while. I myself come from the catering industry and work in service where guests are given a short farewell at the end.

In the middle of Leer, service 👍 was quick and very pleasant, food was 👍, drinks 👍. Price-performance ratio absolutely fine. The loud cell phone music/videos from the neighboring table were a bit of a shame; they drowned out the music in the restaurant, at least in our area. I would have liked a comment from the staff. Nevertheless, I would recommend it, in summer you can also sit outside.

I recently went to the Mangal Charcoal Restaurant in Leer and absolutely loved it! As soon as I entered the restaurant I was warmly welcomed and the atmosphere was immediately inviting. The open grill area was particularly impressive; you can see directly how the chefs grill the meat over the charcoal with passion and skill. The employees also work hard at the traditional stone oven to prepare fresh flatbread, which later arrives on the table steaming and crispy. I ordered the Urfa Kebab and it was just perfect! The meat was incredibly juicy, beautifully flavorful and had just the right smoky flavor from the grill. There was also fresh flatbread, crisp salad and a tasty side dish, all perfectly balanced. The portion was generous and the price-performance ratio is absolutely right here. What I particularly liked was the attentive service. The service was friendly, quick and always had a smile on her face. You can tell that people put their heart and soul into the work here. For me, the Mangal Charcoal Restaurant is a clear recommendation! If you love authentic Turkish grill specialties and want to enjoy the real grill experience with an open kitchen, this is the right place for you. I'll definitely be back!

During an afternoon in Leer we came across the restaurant's menu. Because we were early there was still a table available. The food, which is prepared over charcoal in the semi-open kitchen, tasted 'in a word' fantastic! The Turkish restaurant has an attractive, somewhat modern design. The menu is varied. The service is smooth, but could be a little more 'hostess/host'. A good choice for a tasty and atmospheric meal. Make sure you reserve in advance!

An absolute top address – a special culinary experience! This Turkish restaurant stands out clearly from others. The open, visible kitchen, where the food is freshly prepared, is particularly impressive. There is a selection of excellent meat dishes prepared on a wood-fired grill - a real taste experience! I decided on a starter and the grill plate – an absolutely good choice. The starter consisted of a spicy, slightly spicy and intensely aromatic salad. The main course left nothing to be desired: various perfectly grilled meats, a small salad and a delicious side dish. An absolute highlight! The service was extremely friendly, attentive and quick, so that there was hardly any waiting time even at lunchtime - ideal for a quick, but still high-quality meal. The restaurant itself is stylishly and invitingly decorated, which makes the stay even more pleasant. In addition, there is a sensational price-performance ratio – absolutely top! I can fully recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back!

Since Germany is the first European country to introduce the kebab, we of course had to try it out during our visit to Leer. Although the service leaves something to be desired (a bit disinterested), the food was on the table quickly and looked very neat. The dishes are prepared on charcoal and you can taste it. The lamb kebab was delicious and not too heavily seasoned, so the flavor of the lamb was not lost. The chicken skewer was very tender and well seasoned. We think the fresh salad with mainly arugula could have been replaced by a piece of grilled vegetables or something similar. That would fit better.

I really enjoy eating at Mangal Restaurant because the food is always fresh, tasty and authentic. The grilled meat and side dishes in particular are excellently seasoned and of high quality. The store is also very clean and well-maintained, which makes the stay even more pleasant. Unfortunately, prices have risen sharply recently, making the visit a little less attractive. Nevertheless, for me it remains one of the best addresses when it comes to good food and a pleasant atmosphere. If you value quality, this is definitely the right place for you!

The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a platter for 2 people and were NOT disappointed. Everything was very tasty, especially the lamb. But with a plate like this you have to sit at a table that is for more than two people. That was already very full on the table. We will go there again.

I ate the grilled champions with bulgur and salad. Very tasty, super seasoned. Staff very friendly. Our seat was in the middle, near the front door. That was very fresh as soon as someone went out or in. Certainly not a problem in summer. But we'd love to come back.

Very pleasant evening in Mangal, well and individually furnished, nice dishes, and appetizing arrangement of the dishes. We had iskender, lamb slices and a vegetarian vegetable casserole. There were also usual alcoholic drinks to drink. Portions were pleasant, but we still had to take something with us. Two dishes were too salty for me, but not too salty. The Iskender was different from what I know from Bursa in Turkey, but still good. Worth a recommendation!

If you expect grilled steaks and sausages in the charcoal restaurant, you've come to the wrong place. But the Turkish dishes with meat specialties cooked over charcoal are excellent. Be sure to reserve a table, especially in the evening.

Stopped in unplanned during our visit to Leer. First time in a Turkish restaurant. Very nicely prepared food, very tasty.

Located in the middle of the pedestrian zone. There are enough parking spaces all around, and the market square is behind the block of buildings opposite. Obviously very popular because it's almost always full, but there's usually something free for two if you come before 6 p.m. Otherwise you should reserve in good time.

Unfortunately I have to deduct one star because the minced lamb skewer tasted too much like mutton. Otherwise I can only give one recommendation ‼️‼️‼️👍👍👍👍

The food has been of consistently high quality for years and the staff is always very accommodating; not artificially friendly, but pleasantly discreet - in other words, authentic! The interior is very modern, but doesn't seem cold - it has that certain something and therefore radiates a feel-good atmosphere! All in all, everything is at a very high level!
