MAN WAH China Restaurant in Hamburg

Ich weiß nicht, wo die vielen Sterne herkommen. Die Kellner rennen wie Roboter, und wir haben noch nie so ungewürzt chinesisch gegessen. Am Hähnchen war mehr Panade als Fleisch, die Gerichte waren klein und von Gemütlichkeit keine Spur. Auch ist es für mich als Vegetarierin sehr exotisch und unklar, Tofu in Verbindung mit Schweinebauch und Garnelen anzubieten. Es war der erste und einzige Besuch dort.

Underground tourist shop in a canteen atmosphere. tasteless starters and duck dishes of questionable origin. Noise like at the airport. Terrible.

Best dim sum in Hamburg, we've been there multiple times! Authentic and great-tasting, lots to choose from. Central location (on the Reeperbahn) and reasonable prices, with reasonably quick service! Reservation recommended if it's a weekend since they don't have a ton of seating. Worth a visit!

Food is a 10 out of 10. Everything in the restaurant is very cramped and quite loud when it's full. But staff are always friendly.

I have known Laden for a very long time and highly recommend it. In the evening it is better to reserve in advance for free.

Früher haben wir im MAN WAH die Spezialitäten des Hauses genossen. Damals war alles frisch zubereitet. Die Qualität hat deutlich nachgelassen . Die Tiefkühltruhe scheint der neue Lieferant der Küche zu sein. Bei Meeresfrüchten wird dieses kritisch. Wir können das MAN WAH nicht mehr empfehlen.

We spontaneously got a table on Christmas Eve and had dinner there. The food was very good & the staff was super nice.

I recently visited the "MAN WAH China Restaurant" in Hamburg and overall I was very satisfied. The ambience is pleasant and welcoming, with beautiful decoration that creates an authentic atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive, even if the service was a little slower at times - probably due to the high occupancy. The food really impressed us. The dishes were fresh, tasty and well seasoned. We were particularly impressed by the crispy duck dish and the fried noodles. The portion sizes are generous, so you'll definitely be full. A small negative point, however, was that the menu seemed a bit confusing and the waiting time for the drinks could have been a little shorter. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant if you want to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine. We'd love to come back!

Disappointing experience – absolutely not recommended!!! We ordered a soup that had an extremely unpleasant smell that reminded us of something spoiled. After asking several times and trying to return the soup (both of us couldn't eat it), we were simply told that the soup 'had to be like that'. If that's the case, I wonder how something like this can be served. The beer was also carelessly served in a bottle without a glass, which left the impression of a lack of service. Unfortunately, our visit spoiled any enjoyment of this meal and almost ruined the mood for our entire Hamburg vacation. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We ate Peking soup, mini spring rolls and dumplings there. The mini spring rolls were OK, and the dumplings were also just OK. Unfortunately, the Peking soup wasn't good at all. The extreme smell was so unpleasant that neither of us could eat them. We returned the soups, but they were still charged in full. Our request for goodwill was not responded to because it was claimed that the soup was of “normal quality”. We found this to be very disappointing and not customer-friendly. We would have expected more service orientation, especially in a location directly on the Reeperbahn. For this reason we unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant.

Very friendly staff, but the food was of poor quality and had an average snack character, bland, really disappointing. Toilets smelled of urine and chlorine as soon as you entered them. Too bad. We won't go there anymore...

I didn't like the food and it was served without love. The waiter is unfriendly, impatient and lacking in empathy.

Nice little restaurant with typical dishes

This is probably one of the worst Chinese restaurants in all of Hamburg!! Never again.. Chicken broth as a starter...oh how Chinese...then the food was served on Grandma's lunch plates...which means served, after the soup had been carelessly transported to the table by the waiter and simply left on the corner, the main course plate arrived. ..what should we say sweet/sour chicken...was just sour and where are the vegetables????Zero! Beef Chinese...was ok with 3 pieces of root and 2 pieces of leek, otherwise no vegetables...unbelievable. Nice German/Chinese cucumber slices...laugh Alster water was so thin and tasted strange, as if it had been filled with water. But one more coronation at the end... when paying €29.60, the moody waiter cheekily asked for a tip!! We've never had anything so impossible! Definitely not, the whole visit there wasn't worth a cent!

Wir waren 4 Paare, 3 kannten das Man Wah, dem 4. hatten wir es empfohlen. Enttäuscht waren wir alle! Der Service und vor allem das Essen haben gegenüber der jüngeren Vergangenheit stark an Qualität verloren. Im Service war die Wartezeit auf das dann überwiegend lauwarm bis kalt servierte Essen mit 50 Minuten nach Bestellung ärgerlich lang. Auch die erste große Portion Reis kam nahezu kalt auf den Tisch. Lediglich die frittierten WanTans waren frisch aus der Fritteuse und heiß. Das Essen war durch die Bank nicht gewürzt, das Gemüse lag in übergroßen Stücken und kaum angegart auf den Tellern, mit Stäbchen nicht zu bewältigen. Bei vier Essen, die eine Sauce zum Bestandteil hatten, war diese völlig identisch darüber gegossen, ebenfalls nicht abgeschmeckt, nicht gewürzt. Die Kalamari in einem der Essen lagen in nahezu kinderfaustgroßen Stücken auf dem Teller, man brauchte ein Messer -!-, um sie essen zu können. Das Man Wah war seit Jahren unsere Wahl, vor allem, wenn es hinterher ins Theater ging. Das ist ab sofort vorbei! Merke: die Konkurrenz schläft nicht! Sind alle, die hierzu vier oder fünf Sterne gaben, sicher, dass sie wirklich im Man Wah waren?

Our Dining Table 我们的饭堂 Here is one of the best Chinese restaurant in Hamburg. All of foods which we ate were really authentic, delicious and absolutely with good cost performance. And the staff were very friendly. We would recommend you a visit. And we will come here again soon.

The food had such a bad smell and tasted like old fish. Not recommended. I've never been to China, maybe the food was authentic and therefore not tasty for my habits?! Definitely never there again...

Stay away from the ribs , they are small and only bone and fat I’ve never seen anything like it. What was annoying was the staff sat down to a large bowl of ribs when we were leaving there’s had lots of meat on!. It looked to me like they had chopped all the nasty bits off there’s and we’re selling them to customers.

An absolute failure - we strongly advise anyone not to visit this restaurant! We ordered two soups that not only tasted disgusting, but also smelled like the ingredients were spoiled. The smell was so disgusting that one had the impression that one was looking at a bowl of tripe or rotten meat. It was simply inedible. The condition of the service topped it all off: dirty clothes and an unkempt demeanor also gave us the feeling that we couldn't expect hygiene here. When we refused to eat the inedible soup, they still insisted that we pay for it - an absolute no-go! This restaurant is the epitome of bad food, poor hygiene and outrageous service. We regret every penny and every moment we spent here. Never again!

Ein absoluter Reinfall – wir raten jedem dringend ab, dieses Restaurant zu besuchen! Wir hatten zwei Suppen bestellt, die nicht nur widerlich geschmeckt, sondern auch gestunken haben, als wären die Zutaten verdorben. Der Geruch war so abscheulich, dass man den Eindruck hatte, eine Schüssel mit Pansen oder fauligem Fleisch vor sich zu haben. Es war schlichtweg ungenießbar. Der Zustand der Bedienung setzte dem Ganzen die Krone auf: Schmutzige Kleidung und ein ungepflegtes Auftreten haben uns zusätzlich das Gefühl gegeben, hier keine Hygiene erwarten zu können. Als wir uns weigerten, die ungenießbare Suppe zu essen, wurde trotzdem darauf bestanden, dass wir sie bezahlen – ein absolutes No-Go! Dieses Restaurant ist der Inbegriff von schlechtem Essen, mangelnder Hygiene und unverschämtem Service. Wir bereuen jeden Cent und jeden Moment, den wir hier verbracht haben. Nie wieder.

Best duck with peanut sauce 😍 Update 11/14/2024: unfortunately not as it was back then. The peanut sauce was completely diluted with water and in general the food was really not good

Price performance doesn't quite fit. 0.3 bottled beer 4.5 euros. Accounts only pay in cash. Had to wait a long time for food. Wang Tan soup only tasted like warm water.

I've been eating here for 30 years and the taste is still the same 😉 I would even notice if there was a small ingredient missing, but never has so far!! Simply special

Very tasty snacks and appetizers. Sensational dumplings, baozi, dim sum etc... Then the usual suspects like sweet and sour sauce to authentic things like chicken feet. It's a great place to experiment and try things out. Definitely recommended - order lots of little things and share with friends. Prices are quite sporty, but everything is really tasty. Steps to the dining room, narrow corridors inside, therefore hardly wheelchair accessible. Neat inside, but not very appealing. Sandstone brick something wall, green and beige and white. The waitresses are nice and quick.

Very long waiting time to be able to order and a very long time until the food came. The staff is very hectic. The food was lukewarm and very bland. Price performance is not right.

The best Asian in Hamburg and not just in my opinion. There are various articles where you can read this. Here you can get authentic local food. We were even able to eat chicken feet. A journey for the palate.

We came without a reservation on a very busy evening and still got a nice seat for the two of us. The staff were very accommodating and we ate a main course and three starters, which were more than enough and very tasty. I ate Dimsun for the first time in my life and I was very pleasantly surprised at how delicious and juicy they were. We couldn't eat it all, so we took the rest with us, lovingly packaged.

Like someone had written were the dumplings fine. We ordered two really not fine dishes. So be careful what you ask for. What we had, duck and spareribs were very disappointing.

I had the pleasure of dining at Man Wah Chinese Restaurant last night, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable; the staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome throughout our meal. The owner took the time to chat with us, which added a personal touch to our visit. Now, onto the food—absolutely delicious! We ordered a special dish of water spinach with beef, which was specially prepared and bursting with flavor. We ordered dim sum, har gao and cheong fen were also delicious! The standout, however, was the stew pot tofu. It was simply amazing—rich, savory, and perfectly textured. If you’re looking for a delightful dining experience in Hamburg, I highly recommend Man Wah. You won’t be disappointed!

I figured you can't go wrong with chicken soup. Far from it: the meat was impossible to chew and the soup was hardly seasoned. I preferred not to eat it because of the nasty aftertaste. The rice dumplings with vegetables could only be eaten with soy sauce. Then they just tasted like sauce... I can only advise against it.

As Hamburg residents, we visited the restaurant once and unfortunately found that the level/quality was not enough for us. We will not visit the restaurant again. The furnishings are very worn out and I found the taste of the dishes below average. The rice and meat were tasteless and I couldn't eat the sauce because of its consistency (like jelly). The prices are okay. Based on the Google reviews, I had different expectations.

Authentic Chinese cuisine. Really tasty

Oh yes, we had often thought about visiting this traditional Chinese restaurant and unfortunately the food was far below the level we are used to. Too bad. The chicken meat was of such subterranean quality, I have never experienced it before. The starters were ok. The prawns with chili, but without heat, sauce or sophisticated spices. Completely bland. The best thing was the plum wine, unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant after our visit. Addendum: after a disastrous night, which I definitely attribute to the food, I unfortunately have to change my review to one star.

If you feel homesick, go in and have a delicious meal! I went there again yesterday and brought my colleagues from China with me. They all said it was delicious and authentic! Nowadays, Cantonese cuisine like this can proudly compare with other Cantonese restaurants even in China (except Guangzhou and Hong Kong)! The waiters are very professional and the air-conditioning is turned on, so it's cool when you eat! The bathroom is also clean!

Completely overrated Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. Dim sum served at a distance so that one person had already eaten when the second starter arrived. A dim sum still ice cold inside. Main courses not very ambitious. Food as simple as the furnishings and unfortunately no revelation. Service ok, but no host qualities whatsoever. I wouldn't visit again. Tourist restaurant.

Authentic Chinese cuisine, which you usually look for in vain in Germany. We've been coming here for fifteen years and we especially like the dim sum and noodle soups. What should be highlighted is the always very friendly service.

Used to eat here for years. Unfortunately, quality has significantly declined on more than one occasion. Sauce has more starch in it and far too salty, spring roll was very dark although deep fried. And price for one not good. And I did pick up my food and was asked whether I want to tip. Tip for what?

Für uns leider eine schwere Enttäuschung! Die Teller inkl. die Platten waren total kalt. Wir fragten nach für den Hauptgang nach neuen Tellern. Antwort: Wir sollten die Teller behalten. Beide Gänge kamen um mehrere Minuten versetzt. Das Essen selber war OK, jedenfalls solange es noch halbwegs warm war. Es wurde die fordernde Frage gestellt, wieviel der Kellner bei der Kartenzahlung ins Gerät eintippen soll... Wir teilten mit, dass wir kein Trinkgeld zahlen wollen. Keine Reaktion. Da fragten wir mehrmals, ob ihn interessiere, warum das so sei. Keine Reaktion. Wir erklärten dann, dass Obige. Keine Reaktion ausser mehrmals, wir sollten endlich den PIN-Code eingeben! Auch mehrmalige Bitte um eine Stellungnahme meinte der Kellner nur herablassend und demonstrativem Verweigern des Augenkontakts, er kommentiere dies nicht.

The food was good but the restaurant needs a thorough cleaning.

Unfortunately very sobering. We ordered duck twice (44.45). We had to wait a very long time. When the food came it was only lukewarm. Edible but clearly too cold. Whatever the reason, it stood in the kitchen for a long time until it was served. The taste was good, but as I said, the dish wasn't warm. Likewise the rice. After we told the service when paying that the food was good, but unfortunately it was cold, they smiled away and didn't comment further. There are definitely good days when you can have a good meal here. But we won't be coming back again.

The food is very good for a tourist hotspot and recommended. The restaurant is always very busy and unfortunately you don't always get a table straight away. Service is attentive and friendly.

Operation correct. Hall very sober. Very full. The fried noodles were plentiful but a bit smoky in taste. The chicken was extremely soft. The vegetables in the vegetable soup were simply raw. Wasn't really our thing.

Not pricy and not the greatest meal, but all right. Very nice waiters. There is a lot on the menu. We were 2 people an had starters and main course and paid 67 euros (plus tips which the waiter asked for)
