Mama Mia in Dortmund

I celebrated our Christmas party in the restaurant with my work colleagues. The ambience of the restaurant is very inviting, but it was quite noisy as the restaurant was very busy that evening. All the waiters and the charming waitress were very attentive and courteous. The food tasted very good, I had the carpaccio as a starter, a buttery fillet for the main course and a warm zabaglione as dessert, I can only recommend it. Unfortunately, I have one small point of criticism: due to the large number of guests, the parking situation was anything but good. Although the restaurant has a fairly large parking lot, it filled up very quickly and it is rare to find a suitable parking space nearby. All in all, it was a very nice evening!

The food was very good, drinks were a long time coming, but I really didn't like the fact that the last round was allowed to be ordered at 10 p.m. The table was only booked for 8 p.m. and we were there for a Christmas party, at that time we had just finished eating, we were a large group of over 30 people, it would definitely have been worth it and we weren't the only ones group there. That's why the restaurant wouldn't be an option for me again.

There really are better pizza places. The pizza and appetizer platter weren't bad. But you get the impression that all the ingredients are counted exactly. The atmosphere was very cozy, but I wouldn't come back.

Full parking lot and little street parking. Building not pretty from the outside either. Quite modern inside, very large and therefore loud. Unfortunately the food was very bad. The large antipasti platter was hardly Italian. Just cold vegetables and some kind of schmitzel?! The sauce on my pasta only tasted like cream and no spices or salt/pepper. Unfortunately, the service was also poor. We didn't ask if we wanted any more drinks. Here the waiter had to be spoken to clearly. My first visit will also be my last.

Unfortunately, my personal expectations were higher. Unfortunately the food was just average. I don't think I'll come by again.

The candle light dinner is something special and I'm looking forward to enjoying it again. When there's a lot to do, there's a lot to do and you wait a minute longer for food. But the waiters and waitresses are very attentive and actually keep a close eye on their guests. I really enjoy going here. Nice lively atmosphere.

I was left sitting at a table for 20 minutes. Even though I wanted to order food for an event. Nobody came. Also no information about when I can talk to someone from the restaurant about my order. Very rude and unprofessional.

Delicious food and friendly service.

Unfortunately, our visit to the restaurant was not very satisfactory. My pizza was pretty soggy and had hardly any flavor. My daughter ordered pasta that was also inedible. Most of the starter appeared to come from a can. However, two other pizzas from our family were good. The service was friendly, so we suspect it had more to do with the kitchen.

Super delicious pizza, super delicious gluten-free pizza rolls, the gluten-free pizza was also super delicious. Great atmosphere and very nice service. The starter was also made gluten free. Bruchette. Extremely delicious. A great restaurant in the middle of Dortmund, a must for pizza lovers.

Online order was rejected without informing us. It's especially nice when you sit together in the office and wait for 3/4 hours because the driver is on the way. Oh well, not at all, wasted...

Our absolute favorite gluten-free restaurant. My wife has celiac disease and loves the gluten-free pizza rolls and the gluten-free pizza. The waiters are very, very friendly and since we come often, we “know” each other and their attentive manner and nice small talk make us feel very comfortable and we are happy to come back. Kind regards to the kitchen too

Lasagna Originale based on Nonna's recipe is a poem and you should definitely try it here. But the other original Italian dishes are also very tasty.

I know or visit the restaurant from time to time. I already know several locations and have always moved with them. However, the quality is no longer as good as it used to be. I actually returned my pizza because it wasn't baked at all in the middle, but very soggy, pretty raw dough. I also didn't like the consistency of the tomato soup. Too bad.

It was amazing having dinner here, however, most of the food is Italian.

I was there today with my nephew. I spontaneously took care of him. Since he can't eat gluten, he's been wanting a "real" pizza for a while. The whole property looks very neat and the restaurant is nicely decorated. The outside area was also nicely decorated... A bit like vacation :-) We went there without a reservation and were greeted very friendly and shown to a table. Close enough to the small climbing frame. This meant the little one could slide around for a moment before the pizza and our drinks arrived. He found them absolutely delicious. And ate more than half the pizza. That's a lot for his standards :-) The service was very warm and I felt very comfortable. Surprisingly, I only barely managed with my cash, so I wasn't able to tip enough. :-( I would have liked to have given another €5 tip for the service. You can simply get them on top the next time you visit! Gladly again.

I was there for the first time a few days ago and was impressed by the gluten-free rolls. I took these home with me and warmed them up in the oven a day later, simply perfect. The pasta was also great, the staff was nice and the terrace was a nice place to enjoy your food!

I don't understand some of the bad reviews. The service was super friendly and was ready for any joke and also made good suggestions for drinks and/or dishes. Of course, a drink was forgotten twice and the waitress apologized several times afterwards, but that's human nature and it was very crowded. The food was still ready quickly and very tasty. When I'm back in Dortmund, I'll stop by there again

Unfortunately we didn't like our meal, filled dumplings with salmon and spinach and a pasta dish with pork fillet and cheese gratin. Very little spinach and salmon sauce too watery. The pork was too tough. Will have been our first and last visit. Sorry

Visiting Dortmund for a few days for work - this lovely restaurant, outside of the main tourist areas, was suggested by local colleagues. Restaurant is large, with a nice open terrace and indoor areas. We were offered choice of terrace or indoors and chose the former. Lovely convivial atmosphere - very popular place. Service was excellent throughout, with multi-lingual staff and menus available. The beer was a local Pils - Kronen I think - decent beer and plentiful. Good to see. Food was a classic mix of Italian dishes, with pizza, pasta and meat/fish on offer. Bread for the table provided - a good sign. Opted for ravioli with Gorgonzola and ricotta with walnuts in a creamy sauce either girolles. What a beautiful and tasty dish this was - a great size portion and bursting with flavour. Very good. I would have this again. The pizzas also looked good and I spotted tiramisu; although didn’t have a dessert this time. The restaurant was next to a train line, but you barely noticed it. It also has a car park, which is convenient if driving. Overall, an excellent meal - I would certainly eat here again.

The homemade pasta was also excellent and reminded me of my vacation in Italy. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. I can only warmly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit!

A very tasty meal and friendly staff

When there are family celebrations in addition to normal restaurant operations, the noise is enormous, especially since many children use the play area. After about an hour your nerves are down. However, the food is good, although the prices have now lost all traction. The service sometimes seems rustic, sometimes professional and friendly, depending on who is there. So if you want more than Osteria and the like, you're in good hands here.

Since we were totally thrilled the first time and I'm so happy that I can eat a gluten-free pizza without hesitation, we set off from the Sauerland to Dortmund today - full of anticipation of the enjoyment. The starter was delicious, the gluten-free pizza rolls were fantastic, but then came my gluten-free pizza 🫣. I would have accepted that it wasn't properly seasoned and asked for salt, but the dough was undercooked and limp. When I complained about this, I got a stupid answer: "And what should we do with it now? Put it in the oven again and the rocket will be soft, or should we make a new one? I said that I can't eat it like that, Then the pizza was taken away and minutes later I received a short message that it had ended up in the oven again. Of course the pizza wasn't any better after that, no one asked if it was ok. I got over €22 from my trust When we were clearing the plate, another waiter ate the crust and the toppings and asked if it was tasty - I showed him the dough, he said he said it in the kitchen, but, apart from that, we were completely ignored. There was no reaction. I didn't expect much - a simple "sorry" would have been enough, but treating the guest unkindly because he dared to complain about the food is not possible!

Don't let the entrance influence you! If you want great Italian food, a very warm welcome and great, friendly service, this is the place for you. Thank you dear Mamamia team

Unfortunately, another disappointment. Not only were the children just playing around like they were in a playground, which is totally annoying... no, we got 3 pizzas, 2 of which were burnt and one was still raw. My tip: accept fewer guests, don't be so overwhelmed and provide better quality than before.

Lekker eten, goede bediening en fijne sfeer. Gekozen ivm glutenvrije opties en er was voldoende keuze. De glutenvrije broodjes waren ook erg lekker en goed! We komen hier graag nog een keertje terug.

We have been there several times or have ordered something to be delivered there. It was always between good and evil! Didn't feel like cooking today so I quickly ordered a pizza. After an hour of waiting, it arrived cold and limp. Unfortunately the pizza delivery man was already gone, so I called and asked for a new delivery. No problem - waiting time 1 hour! When asked if we could please be sandwiched in between, no, that wouldn't work. That was the last time, there are enough Italians who are better. By the way, there was not a word of apology!

Very rude employees, especially the child who always runs around there and "serves" the customers. Some of the food was still cold and didn't taste good. The plates and glasses there weren't clean at all😡 My food only arrived after 1 hour. For this overpriced price it's definitely not worth it! My family and I wouldn't go there again.

Wonderful for people with celiac disease! Many dishes can be ordered gluten-free and without the risk of contamination. We're there often.

I will never order here again. After I was told when I ordered that it would take an hour for the delivery person to bring the food, I called them after 1 1/2. I was then told that the driver was on his way. 15 minutes later the driver called from the restaurant and asked where he should go. 15 minutes later there was still no one there and I canceled the order.

Very friendly staff and great service. Gluten-free pizza was completely problem-free and could be ordered as a matter of course. Upon request, gluten-free rolls are also available before the main course. The pizza (Compari) was really good!

Rarely have I had such a bad Italian meal. Lasagna was cold inside the fridge, service was hardly available (empty drinks are on the table and no one comes by and asks if we would like anything else. We actually wanted to order desert too, but no one asked either.). Instead, the service was talking so loudly about the fact that we didn't leave a tip that we heard it at the table. It's a shame, but that was my last visit there.

I know the Mama Mia pizzeria from the 90s, where we lived right next to it. That was still on Plauenerstr. Thanks also to the waitress who served us until closing time. Everything was great! Of course I'll be back.

I called specifically to reserve a table in the beer garden on a very sunny day. The employee's answer was: No problem, just come along. When we arrived, I was initially reprimanded by an employee because we couldn't just sit at a free table. The boss takes care of that. In fact, the boss came and let us know that all tables were reserved and therefore occupied. With all due respect: I already felt betrayed...! If you had told me on the phone that nothing was available: no problem. As it was, we drove 30 minutes to be greeted by an unfriendly employee and rejected by the boss. There wasn't even a word of apology. I find it absolutely unacceptable and underground. Service is different!

Excellent thin and well-seasoned pizzas, the pastas are a mix between German and Italian cuisine. The wine on tap is excellent, we had the Lambrusco and the espresso coffee is as good as in Italy

Nichts besonderes. Steak mit Fritten. Nach Ketchup und Majo musste man fragen. Um 22 Uhr wurde man gebeten, die letzte Bestellung aufzugeben. Keine Atmosphäre im Restaurant. Andere mögen das anders sehen..

My order was a pork fillet with homemade pasta, gratinated. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the dish. The meat was stringy and over-seared, while the noodles were too soft. I was unsure if they were actually homemade.

Top top service! Kind people! Very good Glutenfree options! Recomend the Mamma Mia Pasta glutenfree. Fine toilets aswell. The glutenfree bread we got as starters was fresh and warm, delicious. 5/5. And pro tip if you are a traveler, Ask for english menu, they only got two of them.

Eat good……. But super crowded, loud, hectic... I didn't feel so comfortable. People had to shout to have a conversation. Service overwhelmed but friendly. Anyone who likes this type of restaurant is in good hands here. Solid 4 stars 🫶

Reservations confirmed by email will not be honored and no information will be sent. It was only by chance that I called again today to be on the safe side. No real apology is provided either; the day of the week, date and time were even listed again in the email. That's why I can only advise against this.

Great restaurant with gluten-free pizza made from homemade dough! We were here because of someone's celiac disease. You don't have to pre-order, but it wouldn't hurt to reserve as it can be busy. We had one gluten free pizza, two regular ones and one "special". We all loved the taste! The homemade rolls for the starter were also great. The service was also really great. It's a shame it's not near us because we were there on vacation! The price is urban, but OK for what is on offer. There are parking spaces in the yard. Absolutely clear recommendation!

The traditional Italian restaurant is really highly recommended. You notice the warmth behind the family business and feel very well looked after. The atmosphere is relaxed yet chic, so you can also go here with the whole family for a business lunch. The service is also very good and the dishes are all highly recommended, whether pasta, pizza, meat or fish dishes. I am a very satisfied guest who enjoys eating here again and again.

We were there again with friends. First of all: This time we were a little disappointed with the food. The last few times we were at Mama Mia there was absolutely nothing to criticize. Unfortunately this time. Now to the details: The 4-course menu was chosen four times (this time without wine accompaniment), as well as bruscetta and a lasagne. The respective menus included a starter (an Italian chicken soup), homemade tagliatelle in a Parmesan wheel with truffles, veal with mushrooms and rosemary potatoes and a walnut parfait. In detail: The soup mainly consisted of a lot of broth and little addition, was unfortunately pretty tasteless and had to be spiced up by seasoning with salt and pepper. The tagliatelle made from the Parmesan wheel was delicious again. The main courses were all requested with meat. We got two slices of veal with a sauce and fresh mushrooms. Taste wise so far ok. but here too it lacked seasoning and had to be reworked. In addition, everything was a bit “clear”. A little more would have been more beneficial to our appetite. The walnut parfait was very tasty. Our conclusion: Unfortunately, this visit did not convince us. The last visits were much more pleasant. We hope this isn't a trend, just an unfortunate snapshot in time. However, we would like to emphasize once again the excellent and very attentive service, which is really not something that can be taken for granted. We would like to thank you very much for this. Nevertheless, Mama Mia remains a recommended restaurant and we will come back.

They have gluten free options, they charge you 2.5+ for it. The pizza is also very delicious, since they use natural tomatoes.

I ordered yesterday based on a recommendation from friends. What can I say, pizza and pizza rolls ice cold, really 0.0 warm, fries in an aluminum bowl with a lid - what's going on? Correct! Water collects in the bowl. We don't need to talk about the fact that the fries were peppered. Unfortunately once and never again. If you can't deliver warm on the route why do you offer the service? 34 for the ton

Pizza and pizza rolls arrived cold. Unfortunately no longer edible. The only bright spot was the herb butter which at least made the pizza rolls usable. Food came 30 minutes later than stated.

A really great shop!! I've never been welcomed so warmly when I asked for a gluten-free pizza, which was a given for the nice gentleman. All pizzas are gluten-free. And the best part was, it was definitely the best gf pizza I've ever eaten. If I'm in Dortmund again, we'll see each other. A true celiac dream. Charming, cozy vibe and the warm welcome from the staff. It's spacious, with planty of seating. Navigating our dietary needs here was a breeze, thanks to the staff's spot-on recommendations. Their gluten-free pizzas looked tempting, but as a celiac, I had to pass because of the shared oven situation. However, their gluten-free pasta was a good alternative with planty of flavors (with or without meat) to choose from. For dessert we were surprised with a gluten-free Panna Cotta. Absolutely delicious. Can say this place saved my experience in Dortmund. Definitely gets my thumbs up.

Riesen Laden, sieht echt italienisch aus. Große Portionen alles frisch zubereitet und lecker und den Kaffee nicht zu vergessen Passt alles

Das Essen war ok, Preis-Leistungstechnisch aber absolut unterirdisch. Wenn man für einen Teller Pasta mit Pilzen knapp 17 Euro zahlt und dann eine Winzportion von mittelmäßigen Essen bekommt, ist das schon enttäuschend.
