Today we had dinner here. We were welcomed well and shown to a table, but unfortunately the food wasn't that good. The pizza was very black at the bottom - not because it was burnt - but because the oven is simply dirty (burnt flour). The gluten-free pizza my wife ordered was great. I then told the waiter, but he didn't really show any understanding and just said "all clear, all clear, all clear". That's not professional.

The gluten free pizza was very tasty. My daughter really liked the noodles.

Wir hatten schon öfters bestellt. Jetzt beim 4 mal Unzufriedenheit lassen wir es jetzt sein. Das Essen kam schon kalt und trocken an. Einfach nur ärgerlich wenn man sich auf das Essen gefreut hat und so enttäuscht wird. Da fehlen ein die Worte.

Mama Mia is a Sicilian restaurant in a beautiful old building in the hospital district. The guest room is tastefully decorated and the lighting is pleasant. We ordered a few pasta dishes, a margherita pizza and a salad. The penne with eggplant and tomato sauce tasted good, but the penne was a bit overcooked. The spaghetti Tiziana with fresh porcini mushrooms in an oil sauce was unfortunately a bit bland. The Margherita pizza only tasted like cheese, the flavors of the tomato sauce and pizza dough were not noticeable. The salad with chicken and sheep's cheese in a vinegar-oil sauce lacked taste. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was overall very pleasant. The restaurant was very busy. Overall, the food is too expensive for the quality offered.

Were very disappointed. Tables without placemats, no plates for bread - had to be cut and eaten on table top. No decoration. Food was below average and hardly seasoned. Canned porcini mushrooms and crabs. Very disappointing and a shame ☹️

I came here for the second time and was totally disappointed. first our order was mixed up and instead of two different pizzas, they brought two identical ones. then, instead of remaking the other one, they just added jalapeno pepper. when we asked for plates they brought us plates that were dirty with food. the service is terrible.

I had delicious gluten-free rolls as a starter and a gluten-free pizza as a main course - also great. All in all: great! 😃

We were there for lunch at lunchtime on January 25th, 2025. I have been visiting the restaurant for around 15 years and everything has usually been fine. We had a main course and a dessert from the lunch menu, which offers changing dishes at moderate prices. We also had dessert and a custom pizza, not from the lunch menu. Also a large bottle of water. As always, we received very friendly service. The food was good and tasty. The pizza was largely burnt black on the first attempt, even though it was specifically ordered light baked. Okay, it can still happen sometimes. At least my companion was able to eat alone... The bill we received later seemed perhaps a bit too high, but we spontaneously didn't attach much importance to it because we had to leave. Quickly tip around 10% on top and get out of the restaurant. On the way back we looked at the receipt again and were unfortunately horrified!! We paid around €30 for the individual pizza, as follows: 13.90 Pizza Margherita +4.50 gorgonzola +4.50 spinach +4.50 spicy salami +2.30 hot peppers = €29.70 BAM!! So we called the restaurant again and asked if this was a mistake. The friendly but probably a little embarrassed waiter immediately used the phone to find the way to the boss. He then explained to us that it couldn't be cheaper, otherwise it wouldn't cover the costs. I questioned this objectively (after all, I also shop). Especially since various pizzas with even more different and higher quality toppings can be found on the restaurant's menu, which cost nowhere near €30. I also stated that in our local, very good Italian restaurant (not a pizzeria!) the same individually topped pizza only costs €18.90. But they are probably just outrageously efficient or, of course, don't have their calculations under control. ;-) Or in the complained case, my pizza was not topped with leaf spinach but with gold leaf spinach and in Dortmund a pizza generally costs a third more than in other good restaurants. ;-) Conclusion: Presumably all the prices were on the menu. But who expects to get a pizza in THAT price range? Tip: Check the restaurant menu carefully before ordering. That's what I'll do now if I'm ever there again. THE SMART CUSTOMER TAKES BETTER CARE WITH MAMA MIA.

I had a gluten free pizza and my partner had a normal one. The dough was good in each case, but the topping was very watery and not fresh at all. Tasted like frozen pizza.

Very nice restaurant in a central location. The service was excellent and attentive. We had the 4 course menu including very good wine accompaniment. The food and wines were harmoniously matched. We would love to come back and look forward to a new, different, varied 3-4 course menu.

The shop is a bit hidden but has its own parking lot. Once you're inside, wow, the store is big. The staff is friendly but when there is a lot going on it takes a while but everything comes to the table but you should have some time. Beforehand we had the rolls with herb butter, although there were fewer herbs and more garlic, which was delicious. The bruschette was okay because it would have been great if we had pepper and salt on hand, but you can get it or talk to the waiter. The lasagne was mega and probably a family recipe and yes, it should stay that way.

I fondly remember the times on Saarlandstr. By the way, back then you had a great 'zuppa di cipolle' on the menu, your pizza retained its very own charm and character thanks to the dough and the good ingredients. Your homemade pasta is a delight. Salad, meat dishes, dessert, remain my favorite. Thank you very much for your commitment. People always complain that it's too loud, that something went wrong. When I hear that, the guests should use your delivery service. I'll stay with you as a regular guest for as long as I live. Kind regards, Stefan Schmidt. See you soon.

Really cool location. Super friendly service, food okay too. Prices are a bit high.

The pizza is, contrary to what is advertised on the menu, a rather normal size. Otherwise the food was good. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Because this is also a pickup/delivery restaurant, it is very loud around the counter area. You can constantly hear the phone ringing and the acoustics from the kitchen.

The pizza has very few toppings, so you only get pepperoni in your mouth about every fifth "section" (but that doesn't even take into account the wide, unfilled and rather rubbery edge...). My partner's pizza had a "dense" topping, but was incredibly salty (salami). The knives are all completely blunt. Plus points: friendly service, nice atmosphere. However, only outside of peak times, we have eaten there a total of three times. We don't go there on our own motivation (without an invitation).

Unfortunately, I didn't particularly like the food and tiramisu in the glass didn't taste like anything. Neither was sweet nor was there coffee or alcohol in it. Pure disappointment.

A lovely evening with friendly, courteous service. No long wait and delicious food. Sure, especially during the Christmas season, many Christmas parties take place there with not-so-quiet background noise, but the ceiling sound records have improved this enormously! Conclusion: We will come back often 😀

We ordered food for the third time today, but were extremely disappointed today (a shame) the pizza was much too thick and cold, Vitello tornnato the portion was much too small for over €11. The lasagna was ok. It's just a shame, but we won't be ordering from you anymore.

I celebrated our Christmas party in the restaurant with my work colleagues. The ambience of the restaurant is very inviting, but it was quite noisy as the restaurant was very busy that evening. All the waiters and the charming waitress were very attentive and courteous. The food tasted very good, I had the carpaccio as a starter, a buttery fillet for the main course and a warm zabaglione as dessert, I can only recommend it. Unfortunately, I have one small point of criticism: due to the large number of guests, the parking situation was anything but good. Although the restaurant has a fairly large parking lot, it filled up very quickly and it is rare to find a suitable parking space nearby. All in all, it was a very nice evening!

The food was very good, drinks were a long time coming, but I really didn't like the fact that the last round was allowed to be ordered at 10 p.m. The table was only booked for 8 p.m. and we were there for a Christmas party, at that time we had only just finished eating, we were a large group of over 30 people, it would definitely have been worth it and we weren't the only ones group there. That's why the restaurant wouldn't be an option for me again.

Unfortunately, Pizza Speciale had no taste and was not baked through. Service was very friendly and accommodating!

There really are better pizza places. The pizza and appetizer platter weren't bad. But you get the impression that all the ingredients are counted exactly. The atmosphere was very cozy, but I wouldn't come back.

Always worth a visit. The food is fantastic, the service is extremely friendly. You should definitely book a table in advance.

Full parking lot and little street parking. Building not pretty from the outside either. Quite modern inside, very large and therefore loud. Unfortunately the food was very bad. The large antipasti platter was hardly Italian. Just cold vegetables and some kind of schmitzel?! The sauce on my pasta only tasted like cream and no spices or salt/pepper. Unfortunately, the service was also poor. We didn't ask if we wanted any more drinks. Here the waiter had to be spoken to clearly. My first visit will also be my last.

Unfortunately, my personal expectations were higher. Unfortunately the food was just average. I don't think I'll come by again.

The candle light dinner is something special and I'm looking forward to enjoying it again. When there's a lot to do, there's a lot to do and you wait a minute longer for food. But the waiters and waitresses are very attentive and actually keep a close eye on their guests. I really enjoy going here. Nice lively atmosphere.

Delicious food and friendly service.

Unfortunately, our visit to the restaurant was not very satisfactory. My pizza was pretty soggy and had hardly any flavor. My daughter ordered pasta that was also inedible. Most of the starter appeared to come from a can. However, two other pizzas from our family were good. The service was friendly, so we suspect it had more to do with the kitchen.

Super delicious pizza, super delicious gluten-free pizza rolls, the gluten-free pizza was also super delicious. Great atmosphere and very nice service. The starter was also made gluten free. Bruchette. Extremely delicious. A great restaurant in the middle of Dortmund, a must for pizza lovers.

Online order was rejected without informing us. It's especially nice when you sit together in the office and wait for 3/4 hours because the driver is on the way. Oh well, not at all, wasted...

Our absolute favorite gluten-free restaurant. My wife has celiac disease and loves the gluten-free pizza rolls and the gluten-free pizza. The waiters are very, very friendly and since we come often, we “know” each other and their attentive manner and nice small talk make us feel very comfortable and we are happy to come back. Kind regards to the kitchen too

Lasagna Originale based on Nonna's recipe is a poem and you should definitely try it here. But the other original Italian dishes are also very tasty.

I know or visit the restaurant from time to time. I already know several locations and have always moved with them. However, the quality is no longer as good as it used to be. I actually returned my pizza because it wasn't baked at all in the middle, but very soggy, pretty raw dough. I also didn't like the consistency of the tomato soup. Too bad.

It was amazing having dinner here, however, most of the food is Italian.

I was there today with my nephew. I spontaneously took care of him. Since he can't eat gluten, he's been wanting a "real" pizza for a while. The whole property looks very neat and the restaurant is nicely decorated. The outside area was also nicely decorated... A bit like vacation :-) We went there without a reservation and were greeted very friendly and shown to a table. Close enough to the small climbing frame. This meant the little one could slide around for a moment before the pizza and our drinks arrived. He found them absolutely delicious. And ate more than half the pizza. That's a lot for his standards :-) The service was very warm and I felt very comfortable. Surprisingly, I only barely managed with my cash, so I wasn't able to tip enough. :-( I would have liked to have given another €5 tip for the service. You can simply get them on top the next time you visit! Gladly again.

I was there for the first time a few days ago and was impressed by the gluten-free rolls. I took these home with me and warmed them up in the oven a day later, simply perfect. The pasta was also great, the staff was nice and the terrace was a nice place to enjoy your food!

I don't understand some of the bad reviews. The service was super friendly and was ready for any joke and also made good suggestions for drinks and/or dishes. Of course, a drink was forgotten twice and the waitress apologized several times afterwards, but that's human nature and it was very crowded. The food was still ready quickly and very tasty. When I'm back in Dortmund, I'll stop by there again

Unfortunately we didn't like our meal, filled dumplings with salmon and spinach and a pasta dish with pork fillet and cheese gratin. Very little spinach and salmon sauce too watery. The pork was too tough. Will have been our first and last visit. Sorry

Visiting Dortmund for a few days for work - this lovely restaurant, outside of the main tourist areas, was suggested by local colleagues. Restaurant is large, with a nice open terrace and indoor areas. We were offered choice of terrace or indoors and chose the former. Lovely convivial atmosphere - very popular place. Service was excellent throughout, with multi-lingual staff and menus available. The beer was a local Pils - Kronen I think - decent beer and plentiful. Good to see. Food was a classic mix of Italian dishes, with pizza, pasta and meat/fish on offer. Bread for the table provided - a good sign. Opted for ravioli with Gorgonzola and ricotta with walnuts in a creamy sauce either girolles. What a beautiful and tasty dish this was - a great size portion and bursting with flavour. Very good. I would have this again. The pizzas also looked good and I spotted tiramisu; although didn’t have a dessert this time. The restaurant was next to a train line, but you barely noticed it. It also has a car park, which is convenient if driving. Overall, an excellent meal - I would certainly eat here again.

Long waiting time to take the order.

The homemade pasta was also excellent and reminded me of my vacation in Italy. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. I can only warmly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit!

A very tasty meal and friendly staff

When there are family celebrations in addition to normal restaurant operations, the noise is enormous, especially since many children use the play area. After about an hour your nerves are down. However, the food is good, although the prices have now lost all traction. The service sometimes seems rustic, sometimes professional and friendly, depending on who is there. So if you want more than Osteria and the like, you're in good hands here.

Since we were totally thrilled the first time and I'm so happy that I can eat a gluten-free pizza without hesitation, we set off from the Sauerland to Dortmund today - full of anticipation of the enjoyment. The starter was delicious, the gluten-free pizza rolls were fantastic, but then came my gluten-free pizza 🫣. I would have accepted that it wasn't properly seasoned and asked for salt, but the dough was undercooked and limp. When I complained about this, I got a stupid answer: "And what should we do with it now? Put it in the oven again and the rocket will be soft, or should we make a new one? I said that I can't eat it like that, Then the pizza was taken away and minutes later I received a short message that it had ended up in the oven again. Of course the pizza wasn't any better after that, no one asked if it was ok. I got over €22 from my trust When we were clearing the plate, another waiter ate the crust and the toppings and asked if it was tasty - I showed him the dough, he said he said it in the kitchen, but, apart from that, we were completely ignored. There was no reaction. I didn't expect much - a simple "sorry" would have been enough, but treating the guest unkindly because he dared to complain about the food is not possible!

Don't let the entrance influence you! If you want great Italian food, a very warm welcome and great, friendly service, this is the place for you. Thank you dear Mamamia team

Unfortunately, another disappointment. Not only were the children just playing around like they were in a playground, which is totally annoying... no, we got 3 pizzas, 2 of which were burnt and one was still raw. My tip: accept fewer guests, don't be so overwhelmed and provide better quality than before.

Lekker eten, goede bediening en fijne sfeer. Gekozen ivm glutenvrije opties en er was voldoende keuze. De glutenvrije broodjes waren ook erg lekker en goed! We komen hier graag nog een keertje terug.

We have been there several times or have ordered something to be delivered there. It was always between good and evil! Didn't feel like cooking today so I quickly ordered a pizza. After an hour of waiting, it arrived cold and limp. Unfortunately the pizza delivery man was already gone, so I called and asked for a new delivery. No problem - waiting time 1 hour! When asked if we could please be sandwiched in between, no, that wouldn't work. That was the last time, there are enough Italians who are better. By the way, there was not a word of apology!

Very rude employees, especially the child who always runs around there and "serves" the customers. Some of the food was still cold and didn't taste good. The plates and glasses there weren't clean at all😡 My food only arrived after 1 hour. For this overpriced price it's definitely not worth it! My family and I wouldn't go there again.

Wonderful for people with celiac disease! Many dishes can be ordered gluten-free and without the risk of contamination. We're there often.

I will never order here again. After I was told when I ordered that it would take an hour for the delivery person to bring the food, I called them after 1 1/2. I was then told that the driver was on his way. 15 minutes later the driver called from the restaurant and asked where he should go. 15 minutes later there was still no one there and I canceled the order.

Very friendly staff and great service. Gluten-free pizza was completely problem-free and could be ordered as a matter of course. Upon request, gluten-free rolls are also available before the main course. The pizza (Compari) was really good!

Rarely have I had such a bad Italian meal. Lasagna was cold inside the fridge, service was hardly available (empty drinks are on the table and no one comes by and asks if we would like anything else. We actually wanted to order desert too, but no one asked either.). Instead, the service was talking so loudly about the fact that we didn't leave a tip that we heard it at the table. It's a shame, but that was my last visit there.
