Top-notch staff, lovely ambiance. But the food is rather mediocre. What a shame!

Well, we were there on Saturday with five people. Service was overwhelmed, even though it was only half full. The food was quite good, but overpriced. We wouldn't come back again.

Good food but unfortunately with poor service...

Unfortunately, it's more show than substance... For a €45 steak, I expect it to be crispy on the outside and cooked to order on the inside. Even more disappointing was the poor service. We had to wait 1.5 hours for the appetizer and then another 30 minutes for the main course. And the place was only half full! For those prices, I expect top-notch service, which I sorely missed at Emil's. Therefore, only 2 stars overall.

Yesterday, we were at the reopening of Steakhouse Emil. The menu has been expanded and made more family-friendly—now, in addition to the delicious steaks, there are also burgers and pasta. The dishes were truly delicious, the evening was fantastic, and we'll definitely be back! Thanks, Till, for your hospitality.

The ambiance is top-notch, the wine list is excellent, and the advice is fantastic and fair. The food is very good – the side dishes are every bit as good as the meat dishes. The service was also attentive. One star deducted for minor inconsistencies: the fillet was brought to the table sliced ​​and a bit cold, and a different dessert was served than ordered (but they immediately offered to correct it). The side dishes also came with something incorrect that we didn't order, which we were allowed to keep after we pointed it out ("otherwise it will be thrown away") – it seemed generous at first, but unfortunately, it ended up appearing on the bill. No big deal – if things like that can be ironed out, I'd give it 5 stars.

Professional and attentive service. Pleasant ambiance with beautiful interior design. Wagyu beef and a good piece of Black Angus were very well prepared and tasty. There were also a few side dishes, which, however, were not particularly impressive in terms of taste, contrary to the menu description. One of the side dishes included black fermented beans: there were exactly three beans, which didn't add any flavor and were dominated by the other ingredients. Other side dishes, such as grilled vegetables, were rather bland in taste.

Very good food. Steak cooked to perfection. Service was very polite and attentive. The noise level in the vaulted ceiling was a bit too loud. We'll be back.

The meat is of very good quality, and my hanging tender was cooked to perfection. The service was moderately friendly, and the ambiance was very nice. However, the value for money is not worth it in my opinion. The meat portions are too small for an adult, and the prices are excessive. A 200g hanging tender for €39.90 without a side dish is already problematic for the customer. Should you order double the amount or two steaks for around €80?

The location on the edge of Rheinische Straße means that there are a few people begging outside on the way to the restaurant, which certainly doesn't give a good feeling of security during the darker months of the year. However, the first impression upon entering the restaurant is excellent. We received a friendly welcome, and the decor and furnishings make you want to spend a pleasant evening. The meat was of very high quality and prepared to perfection. And the side dishes also left nothing to be desired. Despite the very high quality, I find the equally high price level to be borderline. Despite the price, it is definitely recommended.

There were three of us there. A lovely restaurant with attentive staff. A straightforward menu and a huge selection of drinks. That was the positive. We ordered tataki as an appetizer. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to taste from the meat. There were so many flavors on the plate, but the olive flavor was so dominant that you couldn't taste the main dish. The beef fillet, unfortunately, wasn't cooked to the desired degree. The potato with cream cheese was lukewarm and partly undercooked. Upon request, they offered to redo it. But since I didn't want to eat alone, I declined. The best part was the welcome from the kitchen. My two companions were of the same opinion. So, in summary, a lovely restaurant with some weaknesses in the food. If I'm spending €450 for three people, I expect a bit more. It's a shame.

The meat is divine every time, prepared exactly as described on the menu. The staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and polite—you're truly taken care of. Every visit is worthwhile! We recently visited for the second time and would love to come back.

The entire team, including the chefs, were so welcoming, and the work we enjoyed was perfect! We visited Emil in Dortmund a la carte. They had surf and turf. The portions were manageable, as always with a la carte. However, the quality was subpar. The grilled fillet, in my opinion, was cooked sous vide and not warmed up enough (cold). The green asparagus was burnt. The service staff were incompetent and quite arrogant. The only positive thing was that the drinks were cold. Sorry, but that was nothing!

Delicious steaks and a fantastic ambiance in the cellar vault. The service is absolutely top-notch! Polite, attentive, friendly, and distinguished. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't 100% right. Comparable steaks of similar quality can be found elsewhere for €10 less. Hence, unfortunately, 'only' a solid four stars. EMIL is definitely worth a visit, especially if you're not watching your pennies.

I visited the place based on recommendation of a local friend. The meal was absolutely delicious, very tasty meat. We have ordered a flank steak (0,65kg) with chips and butter. I only can recommend the place.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Emil Restaurant during Late Night Kitchen and, sadly, I must say I was disappointed with my experience. The restaurant's ambiance is chic and cozy, immediately creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, the service didn't live up to expectations. The waitresses weren't responsive to my requests and lacked the warmth one would expect from such a beautiful restaurant. The price you pay for the meal is disproportionate to the service you receive. However, the food itself was truly delicious and I enjoyed it. Overall, it was a mixed experience. The restaurant has potential, but they urgently need to improve their service quality to provide guests with a memorable experience.

Very nice staff and great steaks

Nice restaurant with nice atmosphere. Very good food. We had different starters and for main course we shared several meat cuts. Can recommend the ribeye and pork, which were most tasty! The rating for the food is high but unfortunately the service (e.g. ordered fish dishes was forgotten) and time to get the food (ca 2h) was not OK. Can recommend the food but don’t go there for the service.

After many years we were back at Emil with friends. Unfortunately I have to say, 3 out of 4 were disappointed. 2 meat dishes were too cold, 1 fish dish was too salty. In detail, the fact that the side dishes came three minutes after the main courses didn't make things any better with the cold Nebraska cast-on steak. If you serve the meat sliced, this must be done immediately beforehand. The quality of the meat was ok, but it didn't do justice to the high price. The cooking point was as ordered and the presentation was visually appealing. The halibut unfortunately due to the excessive amount of salt, only 1 out of 5. The two mussels as a garnish were no longer suitable for consumption. Here I recommend urgent action in/from the kitchen. Service was generally appealing, the greeting from the kitchen was delicious (was the hidden highlight of the evening). The price level is extremely high, on average you have to expect around 60-70€ per person including drinks. Exquisite dishes can cost around €100 per person.

This experience was unacceptable in every way. The telephone service was not only rude, but downright disrespectful. We had a valid reservation and just wanted to make a small change, but instead we were told in a rude tone that it wasn't possible. When the young man initially couldn't find our reservation, I was even accused of lying. Such behavior is completely unacceptable. I then canceled the reservation over the phone and ended the conversation. For a hotel that sees itself as an upscale restaurant, such treatment of guests is completely unacceptable. People should be hired who know what professional service means.

Our server was lovely, but we waited an hour for terrible food it was so salty it was barely edible and there was paper stuck to the steak that was not cooked correctly and then were charged 90 euros.

Food was ok. But the service was grudgingly bad. The restaurant was at most ⅓ full, and the waiting time for the food was around 2 hours. The drinks had to be ordered several times because they were forgotten. We left the wine bottle behind and the waiter simply poured it into a half-full wine glass. You had to go to the counter to pay the bill. Billing was in your favor (invoicing error) And that at this price range. We definitely won't be visiting the store again. Not recommended.

Too expensive for the performance offered. Meat quality is okay, but can be found elsewhere for less money. Everything else was mediocre: the potatoes for the steak arrived several minutes later and were bordering on underdone, and the service stopped at some point after almost annoying inquiries at first. We waited at least 15 minutes for the third glass of wine and had to ask several times. The only thing that was really nice was that when I complained that there was no biscuit with the espresso, one was quickly whipped up in the kitchen.

Went to the menu carousel in Emil yesterday. Top location, the food on the menu carousel was top. Will definitely visit again.

Menu carousel last night at Emil: Perfect. After we were a little disappointed in another restaurant last week, there was absolutely nothing to complain about here. A wonderful menu, delicious wines, courteous service. - We were missing the espresso on the bill. When we asked, they said: "Everything went perfectly that evening. Unfortunately, the espressos were at the table a little too late. I didn't want to add them to the bill." - This is service! - From us: full marks and full recommendation.

Highly recommended if you are looking for something special. From the service to the dessert, everything was commendable. The only thing that is difficult is finding the way via Google because the location is given incorrectly.

This evening we were guests at Emil. We were served personally by Sebastian Felsing. We liked both the cod and the salt marsh lamb with wild mushrooms. The restaurant is a recommendation. It's best to park directly in the pleasant underground car park in Dortmunder U.

It wasn't our first time here today. The ambience is great and the food is really worth the price. Unfortunately, we were annoyed by the general waiting time in service and when we were waiting for the food. Unfortunately 1.5 hours is too long. We will still come back.

Have dined here several times. Even during the Inter-Tabac we got a table for two promptly and at short notice. The meat is of good quality and is cooked exactly as ordered. Everything without any frills - the taste counts. Very nice and attentive staff. The only drawback: it can get a little louder due to the beautiful vault.

Amazing experience. Staff was really polite and capable. Absolutely phenomenal steak and the interior of the restaurant was stunning. Staff was also helpful, after the dinner they informed us of great places in the area where we could go for a drink. All round very great experience.

One of the best restaurants serving beef steaks in the area. Place is a little bit pricey however quality of service and food is fantastic.

Unfortunately, at the Á la Carte Festival in Dortmund, I had to drink the worst mojito of my life at this restaurant's stand. The whole thing resembled pure lime juice. So sour that it made my face grimace when I drank it. The bar was friendly, but overall seemed very inexperienced, overwhelmed and unfortunately a bit unhygienic. For €9.50 it's a shame. The need for repetition is therefore non-existent.

All in all, we were satisfied with our visit to EMIL. The service is very attentive and particularly noteworthy. The food was very good, but the price was also very high. In principle I would say that you pay a little more for the location and the price is therefore a little too high for what is on offer. Overall, we can recommend the EMIL.

Yesterday we were at Emil with 4 people. The welcome was very nice and friendly. The waitresses at the place were also great! Attentive, quick, friendly and always in a good mood. The food was also explained for each course. 3 of us had the 4-course menu for €80 per person. One person had a starter, steak and patatos and a dessert. All in all, our group enjoyed it. The prices are very high - certainly justified given the type and quality of the meat. It was a great evening, but we weren't 100% convinced. Nonetheless, big compliments to the whole team.

The food was sensational. Of course a little more expensive. The price per 100 grams is shown on the menu. Mental arithmetic desired. The service is attentive and nice. Our dog was immediately given water and a treat. Before we could even order anything. The service after dinner could still be worked on. Some guests may want another dessert or schnapps or espresso. All in all, recommended. The charm of the brewery cellar is also worth seeing. Don't wait until you press to the toilet. The path is not very short.

At EMIL you can eat very good steaks in the time-honored brewery cellar of the former Union brewery. We had a bit of a wait, but it was resolved well. The service was quick, it took a while to get the drink, but it's supposed to be an enjoyable evening ;). The highlights for me were the black entrecôte as a steak and the starter, a well-made Black Angus tataki. Seldom have I had such a good and tender fried pulp outside of Galicia :) All in all, a very good address, with small discounts for the dip and sauce prices.

We had a very nice evening. We were spontaneously able to get a table and ate the dish from the menu carousel, including wine accompaniment. Thank you for the upscale and successful evening. The nice service was also worth highlighting.

The service was very polite and courteous and absolutely not intrusive, the ambience was excellent and, above all, the entire restaurant was full of guests and you could still have a great conversation without having to "talk loudly". We both ate a steak and were completely satisfied. The fries were excellent, we usually always season the food when we eat out - but that wasn't necessary this time. Unfortunately, the poor service negatively affected the entire experience. At the beginning we had to wait 20 minutes until the drinks were taken... The shop was empty. Very inattentive waiters who constantly walked past you or stood somewhere chatting, even though you had asked for the menu again after you had eaten your meal. For a location like this, I expect service and waiters who can read my every wish. But at least they can/must/should answer my questioning look for a contact person! It's a shame, but it wasn't worth it for us.

The ambience is fantastic, the service is also exemplary. Price performance is right in my opinion. after not - 170 euros for three without alcohol. Well, I've eaten better. A la carte dishes are probably the better choice. Self-assembled dishes... there came a small steinbeißer or a little pulpo lost with a few crouttons on the plate without any garnish, sauce or similar. Just under 30 euros. Pulpo goes much better elsewhere. This wasn't fine dining. The dessert was fantastic, but we had to wait a long time for it. In terms of quantity but also just for the cost - 13.50 is also exorbitantly expensive. The meat portions at the next table also looked very sparse. Please be careful when parking in front of the door - it will be towed away. I prefer the modest, upscale cuisine with more passion, which is a shame.

We were looking forward to the evening with an open mind, the first impression was really great (ambience is beautiful) Service was quick and friendly at the beginning. The first order was taken quickly and the greeting from the kitchen didn't take long to arrive, unfortunately in the 2 1/2 hours it only stayed with this one order because we apparently felt like we were invisible (the table was definitely visible because it was very central), everyone Others around us were asked every 15-20 minutes whether everything was okay and whether they would like something to drink... of course I could have called someone but this is not a run-of-the-mill burger chain for 15 euros a meal Two for over 200 euros you can definitely expect a little more service!!

Das war von vorne bis hinten super. Top Service, sehr schöne Location, großartige Steaks, Garpunkt perfekt getroffen, viele super weine für unter 30€. Rundherum gelungen. Preislich insgesamt fair. Verbesserungsvorschläge? Die Speisekarte ist relativ schmal. Als Beilage zum Steak fehlten uns Klassiker wie Ofenkartoffel oder Spinat, als Sauce Chimichurri.

We always enjoy being guests here. The service is excellent - always friendly and unobtrusive. The steaks are top quality, prepared exactly as ordered. Starters and desserts are also delicious and the greeting from the kitchen sets the mood wonderfully. In terms of price, it is naturally in the upper range, which is why it is our annual highlight.

Schönes Ambiente, das Essen ist gut, der Service ok (nett und freundlich, aber kriegt es halt nicht hin, es hat alles sehr lange gedauert). Insgesamt finde ich es nicht so gut - aber auch nicht richtig schlecht.

Waren zum Silvester Menü dort. 19 Uhr war Start des Menü angedacht das wurde allerdings auch erst 19.30. Service von Anfang bis Ende überfordert. Mit dem Willkommensgruß (Champagner) wurde KEINE Getränke oder Weinkarte auf dem Tisch plaziert oder abgefragt. Erst als alle Gäste (60-70) an ihren Tischen plaziert waren, wurden weitere Getränke abgefragt,dann aber auch wieder nur auf Nachfrage Karten nachgereicht. Wen man als Thekenmitarbeiter dann 60 Getränke auf einmal bekommt dauert es natürlich ewig. Die Küche musste mit ,den Service der Speisen übernehmen. In den Pausen zwischen den Gängen gab es weder ein Programm noch Musik im Hintergrund. Der Abend wurde immer zäher und auch der Tisch neben uns war nicht begeistert über lange Wartezeiten. (22 Uhr schon Kaffee & Espresso für manche zum wach bleiben).Wir selber bestellten uns eine Flasche Wein die aus dem Kühler nachgefüllt wurde. Ich selbst musste allerdings 2x drauf achten, das nicht, unserem Nachbartisch aus der Flasche eingeschenkt wurde. Das zum Thema Service & Ambiente. Essen war gut und lecker und Preislich gerechtfertigt. Gute Arbeit vom Herr Fellsing & Team. Fazit: Weniger Gäste, bessere Organisation des Service (Feste Bereiche, Getränkekarten auf den Tischen), Musik zum Anlass (Silvester), dann müssten die Gäste nicht von 18.15 - 23.15 (5 Std.!) auf ein leckeres Menü warten.
