Beautiful place and delicious food

There are about 10 main courses. We ate two of them and can't recommend them. The goat meat dish had so much fat that I had to fight hard to eat it. There was very little meat and it was also tough. All with bones. We cannot recommend "restaurant" and the food.

Great West African restaurant with an experienced chef/owner and very friendly service staff. The food is absolutely authentic and incredibly delicious. The occasional wait is definitely worth it. Personal recommendations: Starter variation and “Agin Deshi + Foufou”.

Atmosphere is great, Service is nice and the food is DIVINE! You have to try the banana dish! Every single thing I tried here tastes great but I especially love the banana! (You also have to try the ananas/banana/mango beer!)

The whole restaurant seemed a little disorganized. There was a cook and a waiter, who occasionally helped the cook out in the kitchen. Overall, there are far too few staff when the entire restaurant is full. So you had to wait a long time for your food. After we ordered, our waiting time was around 1 1/4 hours. When the food came, none of us were really convinced. We had fufu and it was really spicy because there was a lot of pepper in the soup. The fufu dough didn't really have much flavor either. We don't know if that's how it should be, because we've honestly never eaten fufu before and wanted to try it. Now we've tried it, and we're not big fans of it. We also didn't like the peanut sauce. All in all, we wanted to give it a try and the staff was really nice, but it didn't quite live up to our expectations.

Super delicious food. So far the best West African restaurant we have tried. Very friendly staff. They still cooked for us, even though we were actually late and the kitchen was already closed.

A small, cozy restaurant with absolutely nice staff. The appetizer platter is fantastic, the goat pot with mashed yam is excellently seasoned. Finally, a delicious dessert. The menu is clear, but a few good dishes are absolutely sufficient!

Super tasty! Would recommend the starter platter and the beef dish 10/10!! If you want so many appetizers, be sure to take the bananas 🤤uff

Omg!!! I will visit again and again anytime I'm in Munich, if this was closer to me I will be going for dinner each night. Yes I read reviews that says it takes longer for your food to be served but it's definitely worth the Wait!!! As a Ghana eating from here is like home. Very great service, lovely people. Something I find more beautiful is more light-skinned customers than darker skin. This is authentic cuisine! And I would recommend 10/10. The ate with the dishes.❤️❤️

Ich war heute mit meinen zwei Kindern im Makula essen. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr gemütlich man fühlt sich sofort wohl . Man wird freundlich bedient das Essen ist sehr gut dadurch daß es Westafrikanisch ist, ist es immer mit einer Schärfe verbunden ( für die Nachspeise wären Löffel schön gewesen 🙃 ) Wir bedanken uns für die Gastfreundschaft. This place is amazing!!! Food is fresh and so so tasty we ordered some take away to eat the next day again. Every bite surprised me and made me happy. Great place and totally recommend to everyone who love to eat.

Wir haben heute im Makula Essen geholt. Da das Essen noch nicht fertig war, haben wir noch ein Bier aufs Haus bekommen - Dju Dju (sooo lecker). Der Service war extraklasse. Und das Essen war der Hammer!! Danke danke danke und bis bald! :-)

Gute Küche soweit ich weiß aus Togo, der Fisch war gut gewürzt und der Reis auch lecker.

Ambiente 10/10 schön Eingerichtet, angenehme Lautstärke der Musik, gemütlich und Einladend Hygiene 10/10 von den Tischen bis zur Toilette alles tip top, Service 10/10 sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, sogar mit Sonderwünschen war der Kellner sehr freundlich und Kompetent...great job Essen 10/10 war sehr lecker, wir waren zu 4 und jeder hatte etwas anderes bestellt, das Essen war der Hammer genau so wie wir es aus unserer Heimat kennen. Wir hatten hummerkraben und Jollofreis, Fisch, Fleisch und vegetarisch...Köstlich !! Reservierung ging Reibungslos, die Karte war übersichtlich. Wir haben uns sehr Willkommen gefühlt, schade das wir am Anfang Skeptisch waren Vielen Dank Makula...Wir kommen bald wieder !

Manila restaurant is operated and owned by a former Rugby player. While in Germany, Berlin, on business, we were scouting for good African food, and this place popped up. The owner was so gracious, and he gave me a nice dessert to sample. It's the one with cream and some fruity puree on top. The food was unexpectedly delicious and made me feel a little bit of Africa in Europe.

Fufu mit Rindfleisch!! Sooo lecker und macht absolut satt!! Die Portion ist groß genug und reicht vollkommen aus. Leider ein Stern Abzug, da der Preis sehr hoch war, aber hat sich gelohnt:)

Sehr leckeres Fufu. Meine Freunde und ich waren heute hier und die Portion hat uns alle sehr satt gemacht. Freundliche Bedienung und schöne Ambiente. Werden aufjedenfall nochmal wiederkommen.

Even though menu is really small - some of items are not available. Service is slow: 30 minutes of waiting before starter came and 1,5 hours before main course came out. The peanut soup with beef was really good.

Das Essen war lecker, aber ich muss sagen, Preis/Leistung ein bisschen teuer. Die Getränke sind auch ein bisschen überteuert (zB. 1 Glasswein des Hauses 7,90€; 1L Wasser 6€) Wir waren 4 Personen insgesamt und haben die vorspeise für 2-4 Person bestellt (24€), am Ende war nicht so wirklich für 4 Personen (aber wahrs. 2 Personen werden ok damit) Ich fand's gut, aber würde nicht unbedingt wiederkommen Und Getränke sind einfach zu teuer.... Leider...

Nette Abwechslung, mehr nicht. Das Essen ist gut, aber mehr nicht. Für den Preis bekommt man nicht sehr viel, dennoch ist es zum Mal kennen lernen empfehlenswert. Gute Fleisch-Suppen, gerade das Rind, aber wenig Auswahl, nur gesagt 4 Hauptgerichte. Zum 1 mal gestern gut!

Nice restaurant with crazy friendly service and good selection of food and drinks. There is a number of vegan dishes as well (starters and mains, dessert of the day varies). Prices are fair and atmosphere is nice. Only negative is a pretty strong cooking aroma in the restaurant, when you leave you smell like you have been working in the kitchen yourself.

Ristorante africano situato nel centro della città. Personale gentile e simpatico, ottime le pietanze a base di carne, birre nigeriane da provare, prezzi onesti.

Absolutely stunning & mouth watering food. I had to go a second time to believe that the food is that delicious. Now I've been here more than 5 times & each time the food was simply as good as the last time. The service is always friendly & smiling. You can see that Robert cares about his customers, because he comes from the kitchen & has a nice chat with us whenever possible. He makes sure that we leave happy & full. Marcel is also as friendly & accommodating. From the vegan black eyes beans dishes to the mackerel with rocket leaves stuffing to the ostrich meat, the dishes are simply outstanding. Make sure you visit this place, irrelevant of whether you're in Munich for a few days, weeks or months. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend it!

Telefonisch lange vorab digital reserviert und auch nochmals telefonisch bestätigt. Für eine Feier mit der Familie. Heute zur reservierten Zeit vor dem Lokal gestanden, nur um einen handgeschriebenen Zettel an der Tür zu finden: „Wir machen Urlaub“. Es gab natürlich keine Absage von Seiten des Lokals. Wir mussten uns dann ad hoc im Regen stehend eine neue Feiergelegenheit suchen und glücklicherweise konnte uns das Savanna aushelfen. Makula, nein Danke! Uns seht ihr nicht wieder!

Waren mit Gutscheinheft dort, war sehr lecker das Essen und frisch und der Service auch sehr freundlich. Einige Speisen etwas teuer, macht man ja auch nicht jeden Tag, hatten Fisch und Garnelen, hat sehr gut geschmeckt und es gabe besondere Beilagen.

Preis-Leistung ist sehr gut. Geschmacklich einwandfrei. Sehr gastfreundlich und erklären die Gerichte.

Super lecker und freundlich! Sind zwei Abende hintereinander gekommen, weil wir so begeistert waren. Hatten insgesamt drei Hauptgänge und die Vorspeisenvariation probiert sowie das Tagesdessert. Wenn wir wieder nach München kommen, sind wir auf jeden Fall wieder hier zum Essen.

Waren als größere Gruppe (ca 30 Pers.) mit Reservierung dort zum Essen. Aufgrund der Größe der Gruppe wurde uns ein Buffet angeboten, damit man mehrere Speisen probieren kann. Serviert wurden dann unter anderem Plantain, Black Eyed Beans, Reis, Fisch, Chicken und ein vegetarisches Gericht. Die Auswahl war gut und das Essen wirklich lecker und authentisch afrikanisch. Der Preis (22€/Person) ist zwar nicht ganz billig, jedoch für exotisches Essen in München keine Seltenheit. Enttäuschend war jedoch dann die Menge des Essens, da jeweils nur 1 Schüssel bzw Topf der Hauptgerichte sowie zB der Kochbanane serviert wurden. Es war zwar genügend, um von Allem etwas zu probieren, jedoch wurden nicht alle wirklich satt. Und sogar der Verdauungsschnaps wurde berechnet, was ich bei 22€/Person (zuzüglich sonstiger Getränke) schon etwas unnötig finde... Fazit also: Essen lecker, durchschnittlich freundliches Personal, aber eine (für meinen Geschmack definitiv) etwas teure Location.

Leider haben wir nach über 90 Minuten immer noch kein Essen bekommen. Das Essen kann ich nicht beurteilen weil es nicht kam.

Sehr nettes und gemütliches Lokal, mit einem immer bestens gelauntem Inhaber, tollen Speisen (hauptsächlich aus Westafrika) und Getränken. Alles ist sehr lecker und wird frisch zubereitet. Das Restaurant ist recht klein, ich würde schätzen maximal für etwa 30 Personen ausgelegt) aber dafür auch hervorragend für kleinere Firmenevents geeignet. Wir hatten jedenfalls unsere Weihnachtsfeier dort und alles waren sehr satt, glücklich und zufrieden :-)

Ein Original ist der Chef und originale westafrikanische Speisen bekommt man im Makula, einem ganz besonderen Restaurant. Doch die Speisen sind eher mittelmäßig und dann aber sehr teuer zu bezahlen. Der Service ist zwar nett jedoch auch konfus. Zumindest aus unserer europäischen Sichtweise. Wenn man sich's leisten kann, trotzdem empfehlenswert, weil anders.

Vor Ort sind fast nur afrikanisch-stämmige, was für mich auch (wie im Urlaub) ein Zeichen von guter Qualität ist. Zu Beginn etwas verplant, bis wir final bestellen konnten. Aber irgendwie daher auch wieder sympathisch und ehrlich. Das Essen ist super gut und wird frisch direkt in der offenen Küche traditionell hergestellt. Da meine Begleiterin krank war, wurde ihr noch neben dem üblichen abschließenden Schnaps auch noch 2 ‚Rachenschnäpse‘ (wie purer Pfeffer!!) und ein heisses Ingwer-AloeVera getränkt serviert. Dies und alle Schnäpse waren kostenlos! Und wären wir noch länger geblieben, hätte er wohl noch weitere serviert...! Gerne wieder, auch vor Ort!

I was invited to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We started with the mixed appetizer dish. The "Abladzo" (a fried, green cooking banana with tomato and coriander) starter was my personal favorite. For the main, I chose the Guinea Fowl, which was deliciously prepared. I will return and try dishes that others in the restaurant were enjoying. Added note, as a person who enjoys spicy, the homemade pepper sauce is amazing. A little goes a long way and complements the meal.

By chance we landed in 'Makula' for dinner and the dinner was absolutely delicious! We even got 2 extra appetizers (we ordered one appetizers, two main courses and an espresso) on the house from the host Roberto. It was also very tasty! What we also enjoyed very much was the cozy “living room -feel“ of the restaurant. I felt like at home eating dinner.:-) The host and cook Roberto is very funny and so warm and welcome. We will definitely come back again since we had such a wonderful evening!

We had two guests visiting from out-of-town and we wanted to try West African food (I studied Wolof in college). Made a reservation based on the good reviews. If you want entertainment from a big personality and that comfortable, in your friend's living-room atmosphere, then this is certainly the place to go and you will 100% enjoy it. The Chef/Owner made a large show about everything and made lots of strange jokes. If you're looking to try West African food and do anything to annoy the chef, you probably won't. Dinner got more uncomfortable because he got really aggressive when I asked for a side dish of rice to a dish that was tomato-based (although Tomatenreis was a side dish listed with fish). I immediately said it was fine because he understood the food better than I did. But that wasn't good enough for him, he went on about how it was the equivalent of ordering french fries at a nice restaurant. I said again that I trust his judgment, but he interrupted me to tell me that he could give me the rice anyway although it was bad taste to eat rice and yams together. I insisted against it, and thought that would be the end of it. It was not. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought out a plate of rice. By the way, one of the girls ate a Thai-style (not East-African) yam curry with...rice. So much for the yams and rice thing. And the dish I had ordered was not a Togolese tomato-based sauce that you could eat up with a side dish of cooked grain -- it was simply an italian Marinara sauce sitting next to 7 chunks of boiled yams, 2 chunks of boiled sweet potato, and two pieces of broccoli. The other dishes were a German brown gravy on kangaroo and chicken (with yams instead of potatoes). When he cleared up the dishes, he got aggressive again to the girls why they didn't finish their dinners when he had made it for them (there was half a piece of chicken and half the curry left). I thought he was joking, but then he said we hadn't ordered enough alcohol and began what I will call the older brother getting his younger sisters to drink game. He brought a round of schnapps despite our saying no. The girls don't drink alcohol at all, and one of them had been so embarrassed from the inquisition about her half-eaten chicken that she poured the schnaps into the water glass. He then brought a glass of chili schnapps, dared us girls to drink it, and then he took a fork, put it in the glass and brought the fork to one of their faces, all while standing wedged between the wall and touching her shoulder with the front of his thigh. Very uncomfortable. When I said I would drink it, he immediately said "No, no", and then made me taste it. It was spicy but not terrible. He continued the game of daring us to drink it until he had to go over and serve the next table. He brought then a glass of wine and later another glass of schnapps. We waited 45 minutes for the bill as well, as the waiter wasn't allowed to do it and the chef/owner was chatting outside with a patron while she was smoking (the patron and her boyfriend had left their drinks on the table and came in as soon as the chef/owner came in). He also lectured me on the subject of the rice again, as it seemed that had offended him so severely. This might have explained the strange alcohol post-dinner. For four entrees, four drinks, two appetizers, and an espresso, bill was only 58 EUR (we left 10% extra to cover the uneaten rice and the glass of wine that he brought to wash out the throat of my boyfriend who ended up drinking the chili schnapps...). At least he compted the round of herbal schnapps, as nobody except my boyfriend wanted to drink it. Strange, strange evening.

This restaurant was open during the recent German holiday weekend, so it was not too crowded, which allowed for my husband and I to grab a romantic corner table in the restaurant. From the moment we stepped in, the owner/chef Robert helped us with the menu, joked with us, and even presented us with a specialty dish to sample. He was just as kind to the other customers which made for a friendly and nice atmosphere. There is a wide vegan and meat dish selection on the menu, which is great for group dinners. We ordered a chicken and beef dish, which were both seasoned and cooked tenderly to perfection, alongside yams, sweet potatoes, peppers and tomatoes. Everything was delicious. Music playing was good too. Very great experience overall. We will definitely be returning again soon. Tips: Reservations are accepted online or by phone. This is a smaller place, so a reservation is best to secure your spot. Parking is a little hard to find around the restaurant due to many surrounding apartments. Allow adequate time for parking, if you are travelling by car.
