I was really looking forward to a cozy evening of authentic Indian cuisine at Maharaja, but unfortunately the visit was a huge disappointment. Food (1/5): The taste of the food was far from what you would expect from a good Indian restaurant. My curry had little depth of flavor - it seemed like it was simply a tomato sauce mixed with a few spices. The naan bread was dry and tasted old. The meat (chicken) was tough and not marinated well. All in all, it seemed like ingredients thrown together carelessly without the typical intense flavors that usually characterize Indian food. Service (2/5): The staff seemed unmotivated and uninterested. We had to wait a long time before we could even order, even though the restaurant was not crowded. Drinks were forgotten and when we asked we only got an annoyed nod. There was no real advice about the courts - questions were only answered in monosyllables. Ambiance (2/5): The decor is old fashioned and could do with some updating. There are a few typical decorations, but overall the ambience seems rather bland and uninviting. It was also unpleasantly loud, which further deteriorated the dining experience. Price-performance (1/5): For the price I would have expected much better quality. The portions were small, and given the bland taste, the price feels absolutely unjustified. The drinks were also overpriced - especially the wines, which were served too warm. Conclusion: The Maharaja is definitely not a recommendation for lovers of real Indian cuisine. If you are looking for truly authentic Indian food with good service and a pleasant atmosphere, you should look for an alternative. I definitely won't be coming back. Overall rating: 1.5/5

Good food and service. Warm reception by waiters. Yellow Dal was great. But avoid the veg jalfrezi as it didn’t have any vegetables but only salad stuff in it.

The food is delicious, the service is very good, and it is wonderfully quiet there. If you want to have a conversation without having to yell at each other, this is the place to be.

Best Indian in Munich! I've been a regular for many years and am always satisfied - a classic is the Murg Tikka Marsala (300) and their garlic nan :-) PS: great lunch menu

We did not eat here so I can’t comment about the food but the attitude of the staff there was very bad. We had a reservation using a third party discount, and the staff said that they couldn’t see the reservation on their end. We had the booking confirmation, that the restaurant confirmed, on our end. Instead of calling and clarifying the issue with the third party, the staff just shut us down and said we can’t help you. Well that’s one way to treat a customer. We left and decided to never step foot inside the restaurant ever again and would never recommend it to our friends. Looking at the other reviews here, I’m expecting a snide comment, but that’s our experience that we had to share.

Not a good place. Tap water is not free , you have to pay for glass or you can chose directly to drink from the tap. Now food wise very rigid . There is active encouragement from the management to not turn up only if you have low appetite. Only come in if you are willing to spend more on a single meal. Spending more will not ensure quality in any shape or form , it is just the satisfaction that you had somewhere close to an indian meal. Management also encourages you to have some shame ..(lol). I would definately suggest avoid. There are better restaurants in the vicinity and very close by and other options available for charity. Hope not only me but everyone stays away.

MAHARAJA Indian Restaurant in Munich offers the best food, good place, clean hygiene and best service. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is perfect. Here you can find authentic Indian food that is very tasty. The butter chicken in particular is the best in Germany.

We have been regular guests at the Maharaja since 2003 and we are thrilled every time! The food is always excellent and authentic. There are also always new highlights on the menu and special requests are no problem. BIG PLUS: Children are very welcome and welcome at the Maharaja. We will continue to visit regularly for the next 20 years. <3 Until next time!

The people taking orders were friendly, and had time for small talk. Service was quick. And the food, delicious - not too spicy, not too bland - just right. And the location, just ten mins to the train station if you are coming back from Chaimsee. Perfect. What more does one want in life?

Disappointing service and no ambience. Moreover, the staff is unprofessional, left us unattended for long although we were the only two for dinner, in the whole restaurant. Plus: there are plenty of free tables available though if you are looking to go with a larger group.

My experience with Maharaja restaurant was incredibly disappointing. The food I ordered was spoiled and inedible. Despite my complaint, the restaurant showed no concern or willingness to address the issue. I would strongly advise against ordering food or dining at Maharaja due to their poor food quality and lack of customer care.

We love this place and pick up every Friday! The food is really tasty and the staff is really friendly and very welcoming! Lucky we live around the corner ;)

We have ordered from Maharaja many times. We've actually been very satisfied so far. However, with the last order, Butterchicken, the meat and sauce smelled and tasted bad and spoiled. Something like that shouldn't happen. We are very disappointed.

Bitte nicht missverstehen, ich bin ein großer Fan Ihres Essens, allerdings habe ich bei meiner Bestellung über Lieferando angegeben, dass das Butter Chicken ohne Schärfe zubereitet werden soll. Dieser zusätzliche Hinweis war deshalb so wichtig, weil meine Frau diese nicht verträgt. Sie hatte letzte Nacht starke Bauchschmerzen und hatte deswegen leider kaum Schlaf. Das geht so nicht. Bitte mehr auf die zusätzlichen Hinweise bei einer Speise eingehen. Viele, liebe Grüße

Wir hatten heute am Sonntag von 12:30 -17:30 eine Familien Feier mit 40 Personen, 40% Kinder jedes Alter. Auf explizite Anfrage wurde Buffet vorbereitet: Samosa, Pakora, Butter chicken, Lamm, Biryani, Gemüse Curries, Channa Masalah, 3 verschiedene Naan. Auf explizite Anfrage Helal Fleisch vom Metzger der Vertrauens. Es war in Frische, Qualität, Geschmack und Service nicht zu übertreffen. In einer sehr entspannten, angenehmen, harmonischen Atmosphäre haben wir heute den Tag mit der Familie genießen können. Wir danken dem Maharaja Team von Herzen für das unglaublich gute Essen, Service und Atmosphäre in der sich klein und groß unglaublich wohl gefühlt haben und für die tolle Erinnerung. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!!! Vielen Dank euch!!!

We were the only customers, but that's only because we are early birds at meal times. However, there were food deliveries picking up orders all the time we were there. We were served by very kind sardar ji, who spoke excellent English. He was very thoughtful and helped us with our order. Our dishes were absolutely delicious. There is a large menu to choose from, and as usually in indian restaurants, a good variety of vegetarian dishes too. My husband had non-veg and he said the lamb was exceptionally tasty.

Good, tasty food. Tandoori dishes are tasty, Raita and Papadam always good! Rice is a little on the dry side. All in all good always food ⭐️
