Maharaja indisches Restaurant in Rostock

We wanted to have lunch at the restaurant, but due to health reasons, we had to eat at home. Although they only deliver from 5 pm onwards, the owners kindly agreed to deliver for us at lunchtime. So, we were able to have a delicious celebratory meal for our sister's 70th birthday after all. A huge thank you to the owners 🫶. We love going there.

We arrived with a group of five an hour before closing time. We received our food quickly. It was delicious and the service was friendly.

Everything was great. The staff was very courteous.

We ordered our food directly from the restaurant. There was a 10 percent discount. The food was delivered quickly by the friendly driver. And it was delicious, and the main courses were piping hot. Thank you! 😎👍

Some vegetarian dishes were also offered vegan upon request.

We arrived at 9:15 on a Tuesday evening, very hungry, hoping to get something to eat, even if it was something quick. In most restaurants, the kitchen is already closed by then, so we weren't necessarily expecting to get anything. But we were wrong. It was made clear to us that we were welcome, nothing was excluded from the menu, and if we hadn't finished by 10:00 p.m., we could have easily taken the rest with us. About the food: It was absolutely wonderful, plentiful, from sweet to sour and earthy, salty and creamy, top notch. The service was friendly, the prices were absolutely reasonable for a restaurant of this kind, the food arrived very quickly, and questions about how mango lassi is made were answered very openly. For me, the lighting could have been a bit dimmer or more cozy, but that's just my personal taste. Unfortunately, we were just passing through; otherwise, we would gladly come back! Thank you very much!

The first time, I couldn't find the entrance because the door facing the street, with the sign "Open," was locked. On the second attempt, I noticed the entrance around the corner after a while, where Chinese dragons are displayed. Some dishes are slightly more expensive (like those with lamb, etc.).

The young waiter soon falls asleep.

I recently visited this restaurant and had a great experience overall. The food was above average—flavorful, well-prepared, and nicely presented.Tge mango Lassi was very good, while not every dish was mind-blowing, the quality was consistent and enjoyable. What really stood out was the service: the staff(Mr.Singh) was attentive, friendly, and made sure we felt welcome throughout our visit. They were quick to respond to requests and created a comfortable dining atmosphere. A wonderful spot for a relaxed meal with excellent service. I’d be happy to return and try more from the menu.

I had the Indian salad with chicken, and it was really delicious. The wait was really short, and the service was very friendly and good. It wasn't that expensive either. I highly recommend it 😋

We had a great lunch here on a Saturday. The atmosphere is so cute and cozy and tables are not jammed. The service was quick and high quality. The Indian food was really good too, large portion and tasty. They have a very diverse menu including vegetarian options and even some non-Indian which helps if you are in a group. Overview highly recommended.

Highly recommended: The service was very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food came quickly and was so delicious! We had chicken with mango and chicken with spinach, ice cream, and an Indian dessert (baked balls in syrup), a shandy, and apple spritzer. The restaurant served a small appetizer, which was a pleasantly authentic starter. The ambiance is typically Indian. The tables are large enough to comfortably handle the dishes, and the chairs are comfortable. The value for money is sensational! We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Very nice place! We ordered Tark Dahl, Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka, Indian tea and lassi. We didn't have to wait long for our orders. And everything was very tasty and we were very satisfied. Thank you very much! We will come again with pleasure :)

Food tastes very good and the ambience and service is good

The ambience has little to do with India. There were still some Christmas decorations, napkins with Christmas motifs and birthdays on the tables and there was little feel-good atmosphere. The staff was very polite but unfortunately not very present when it came to clearing the table or paying. The waiting time was very, very long. I would have understood this if the restaurant was full, but not with a maximum of 10 guests. The food had nothing to do with Indian cuisine. India has very beautiful spices. There was no taste of it in the food. The basmati rice was simply cooked without any spices. I ordered vegetarian and the vegetables were overcooked with canned mushrooms. What I found particularly annoying was that lunch guests are only given second choice. In the evening, guests get naan bread and various dips. At lunchtime you have to order and pay for it separately. I politely communicated my criticism to the waiter. However, I would rather go out for Indian food near Doberaner Platz again. It was always tasty and there was never any reason to complain.

I ordered a dish that was supposed to include rice. That's what it said on the card. When I asked where my rice was they said it was no longer on the menu, which is true. But they forgot to remove it from my card. I only ordered the dish because of the rice. When I asked if I could still get the rice, it came 10 minutes later, but it also showed me over 5 euros on my card. That really doesn't work at all...

Small, family restaurant with very tasty Indian food. Very nice service, we really enjoy being here. Most of the time no reservation is necessary.

I ordered food for myself and my children for more than 2 hours, waited and the food still didn't come. During these times I called 3 times and he said driver is on the way. How can such people own a shop? Or serve I will never order food from there again.

We were here for the first time and we were really impressed. Rarely have Indian food been so good. We can highly recommend the Butter Chicken and the Chicken Muglai.

Some of the furnishings were from the previous tenant, otherwise everything was fine. By nice service I mean something different. You got the menu after 15 minutes and you had to wait a long time for the food. The drinks a glass of water o.2 for over €4 are too expensive. We were there for the first time and that was the last time. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

We were here for the first time today. Our daughter had already had food delivered to us and now we were naturally curious to see what it tasted like freshly prepared. We were pleasantly surprised, the food was very tasty, it was attractively presented and the cellar was very friendly in answering all of our questions about the ingredients. We will definitely visit this restaurant again and can only recommend it.

I've eaten in many Indian restaurants and here at Mahajara the food (aloo chana masala) was far too watery and tasteless for me. The portion size was generous and the service was satisfactory, but taste is the most important thing for me and this restaurant couldn't score points for me. I also found it strange that the allergens weren't listed on the menu (so what does g,i stand for?) and the atmosphere wasn't very cozy either. There are no explicitly marked dishes for vegans, but all vegetarian dishes (most of which contain paneer or yoghurt) can be served vegan upon request. It's good for families with children that there is a separate dish for the children (spaghetti with tomato sauce), but in principle I don't find "typical German" dishes in an Indian restaurant very authentic.

It was definitely ok. The service was nice and attentive. The lamb curry was tender and crumbly, but tasted more like a German goulash. I usually don't like Indian food, so I only give it 3 stars for the time being. We would still go back and try something different. The store itself is nicely decorated and very clean. The loud Indian conversations of the staff at the counter were also a bit disturbing. Still: 4 stars overall.

We had lunch, which was reasonably priced. The portion size was also reasonable. Since I have already tried a lot of Indians, this one was unfortunately below average. The rice smelled slightly musty and overall it was unfortunately very Germanized Indian.

We have been here twice now, although we rarely go to Rostock and Warnemünde. Here, dedicated staff cooks and serves, putting great food on the table. Don't be put off by the ambience, which is a mixture of a former Chinese restaurant and Indian decoration. We would definitely like to come back here

Very tasty food! This was our second time at the Maharaja. We enjoyed it very much and almost couldn't move afterwards. You might have to wait a little longer but it's definitely worth it!! Großzügige Portionen, schnelle Zubereitung, super Geschmack - besser kann man es nicht beschreiben. Die Gestaltung des Restaurants war soweit in Ordnung, aber es war, wahrscheinlich wegen der Möglichkeit der Bestellung / Lieferung, am Ende sehr leer. Wir empfehlen euch, einen großen Magen mitzubringen!

Super leckeres indisches Essen. Das Ambiente könnte noch etwas gemütlicher sein. Es erinnert ein wenig an einen Speisesaal. Trotzdem absolute Empfehlung - auch Preis/Leistung stimmt.

Wir waren spontan mit der gesamten Familie dort. Endlich ein gutes indisches Restaurant auf dieser Ecke. Wir haben uns durch die Karte durch probiert und sehr viel bestellt, es war ausnahmslos alles super lecker. Der Service war auch einwandfrei, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir können das Mahajara absolut weiter empfehlen, und wir werden auf alle Fälle wieder kommen.

Freundliches Personal. Man könnte zwar öfters fragen , ob man noch etwas bestellen will aber sonst sehe gut.Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Die Einrichtung wurde vom Vormieter übernommen und wirkt deshalb noch etwas gemischt mit dem chinesischem Stil. Sonst sehr sauber.

Heute Abend haben wir im Maharaja gegessen und waren schwer beeindruckt: Sehr freundlicher Empfang und Bedienung, ganz wunderbares (und wirklich reichhaltiges) Essen sowie ein ausgesprochen angenehmes Ambiente. Ein ganz ganz großes Lob an die Küche!!!
