I've never experienced anything so inflexible! When ordering there was a simple extra request, pizza without cheese (due to intolerance) not possible -> the waitress said: "Only what is on the menu, no special requests as there is too much going on in the restaurant". Then we got up and left.

I’ve passed this restaurant many times and assumed it was like the pasta/macaroni restaurants in the USA. I was very pleasantly surprised to see such beautiful decor and enjoy one of the best authentic Italian pizzas that I have ever had, including those I’ve had in Italy. The table of 8+ people next to us were all enjoying the pasta. I heard them tell the waitress how pleased they were with their meals. My adult niece and I highly recommend Macaroni and I look forward to visiting again the next time that I bring guests to tour the city of Aachen. Special thanks to the chef and to the very friendly host/waitress.

More than 5 stars in my opinion – this evening was truly exceptional! Everything was just right. The stylish, special ambience immediately created a feel-good atmosphere, which was perfectly complemented by the attentive and warm service. The food was not only excellently prepared, but also a real treat for the senses, and the selection of drinks left nothing to be desired. Every detail testified to quality and love for the guest. It was a great evening that I will remember for a long time. I'm sure it wasn't my last visit - I'm already looking forward to the next time!

Wir sind spontan ins Maccheroni gegangen, wurden freundlich empfangen und bekamen einen zwar sehr engen 2-er Tisch, aber es hat gepasst. Pizza und Pasta waren sehr lecker. Der Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Es hat alles gepasst!

It was really delicious! Unfortunately we were put in the winter garden, which is nowhere near as nice as the restaurant downstairs and, above all, much too loud.

Walked past it a thousand times... In this part of the city center, almost everything, especially the restaurants, is geared towards tourists... Nevertheless, they also go out for a good meal occasionally 😉... I was here because of an appointment with friends and I'm wondering I'm sure you can eat and drink well here in a historic atmosphere! Also: friendly service! So: gladly again!

It's just that the restaurant has been recommended many times and I'm really looking forward to it. It was just after 9 p.m. and the restaurant was busy. There were a 4-seater table, a 6-seater table and a 2-seater table available at the front left. When asked if the kitchen was still open, the gentleman behind the counter said "until 9:30 p.m." He told us from the counter that we could sit down, so we headed for a table for four in the corner. The waitress immediately came, slammed the menus onto the tiny table for two and turned on us with the words: "No, don't sit here, if there's another big group coming I'll need the table." We politely asked if we could take a seat, and there was another loud announcement: "Nah, I said" We then left the restaurant. The lady then complained about us to the gentleman behind the counter, that's not possible. When you scare away your guests like that... We definitely won't be coming back and won't recommend the place either.

It was so pleasant to eat there. Friendly service. Nobody was upset that my guest was 20 minutes late and I had taken the table. The meals were tasty, especially the scallops starter and the dish 44, black spaghetti with salmon, calamari rings and small prawns. The friendly smile of the waitress and the owner asking if everything was okay rounded off the evening. And the atmosphere made you feel good. The prices are anything but exorbitant. I will definitely eat there again on my next visit to Aachen.

Again in beautiful Aachen and I can only say the restaurant is super good from A-Z. Great service, cozy atmosphere and delicious food, whether homemade pasta, steak or pulp, etc. everything was top.

Ich war tatsächlich über die negativen Bewertungen verwundert. An diesem Donnerstagabend waren wir mit Kollegen inkl. Chef (waren für drei Tage auf einem Seminar) beim Macaroni essen. Die Begrüßung war offen und herzlich. Uns wurde unser Tisch gezeigt und direkt die Menukarten ausgehändigt. Allein die Karte zu lesen hat mir das Wasser im Munde zusammenlaufen lassen. Meine Kollegin und ich haben uns eine Vorspeise geteilt (drei Variationen von Bruschetta). Diese waren für uns zwei definitiv ausreichend, waren super lecker und haben uns Lust auf mehr gemacht. Nach dem jeweiligen Aperitif wollten wir eine schöne Weinbegleitung haben. Die absolut sympathische und authentische Kellnerin Iris hat uns einen traumhaften Wein empfohlen (dieser gehört ab sofort zu meinen Lieblingsweinen-> danke Iris!🫶🏼). Es folgte der Hauptgang, der sowie das Dessert wieder top waren. Im Großen und Ganzen ein wunderbarer Abend mit tollem Essen und Service. Ich würde definitiv wiederkommen!

Letzten Sonntag habe ich mit einem befreundeten Paar das Restaurant besucht. Das war auch mit Rollstuhl kein Problem. Nachdem wir die vielfältige Speisekarte studiert hatten, haben wir uns alle 3 für eine Pizza entschieden. Jeder hatte eine andere und wir waren alle sehr zufrieden. Die Bedienung war freundlich und das Ambiente angenehm. Wir kommen gern wieder! In den Sommermonaten empfiehlt des sich allerdings, zu reservieren. Das Restaurant ist sehr gut besucht und bietet sowohl innen als auch draußen Tische.

Location is great but the service makes it really unpalatable. Incredibly unloving and bitchy staff. The store is closed.

We were at Macaroni with a larger group on a Saturday evening. Even though it was very busy, the service was friendly and quick. All of the food for our group arrived at the same time and we were all satisfied.

I have eaten several times in one word, great, very good food, good, extensive menu, excellent service, I would love to come back here and so would my sister and her husband.

The ambience is very nice, unfortunately the food was not convincing. When we visited Aachen, we decided on Macaroni because we had a very good meal there a few years ago. Our disappointment was therefore all the greater. The bruschette's bread was soggy and the topping was disappointing. The lamb chops were so-so and the pesto that came with them had a bitter aftertaste. The crème brûlée was reminiscent of an egg custard 🫣 Unfortunately a disappointment across the board

This is a great place to spend an evening. The building itself is full of character and the food and service is excellent. We arrived without a reservation and Iris went out of her way to find us a table so we were not disappointed. The evening was made extra special by the great wine, and we were given plenty of time to enjoy this after our meal, and did not feel under any pressure to leave as soon as our meal was finished. We will definitely return the next time we are visiting the area.

We had a great evening at Macaroni. Nice friendly atmosphere. Our server was lovely - can’t remember her name but she had excellent English having lived and worked in Manchester. Food was excellent. I had Vitello Tonnato and Saltimbocca - both excellent. Very good value too. Highly recommended.

We were in the restaurant today and got a miserable impression: there is an unpleasant smell inside, the interior was probably very chic once (30 years ago), today - in need of renovation, the food was inedible and too expensive: a pizza - 15 €, Dumplings - 17€ Never again!

What we received was of good quality; After about 90 minutes we canceled the order for the main course; We had the impression that they had forgotten to order this in the kitchen. Unfortunately, communication was quite poor and it was difficult to keep things in line. There was also no further order for drinks; a shame as what came out of the kitchen looked very good. Another try will definitely follow - everyone has bad days.

Restaurant verspricht viel mehr als es bietet 6er Tisch für 7 Personen ( mit Reservierung) kein Platz für den Salatteller! Geschmacklich waren weder Pasta noch Pizza überzeugend lieblos arrangiert und serviert Preis/Leistung unterirdisch…..eine Flasche „selbstgesprudeltes“ Wasser ( 0,7) für 7 Euro , Salat Calabrese( 1 Tomate , 4 Scheiben Mozzarella, ohne besonderen Geschmack )…16,50 Euro Unfreundlicher Kellner , vergisst die Hälfte und rennt beim kassieren ständig zum Telefon.

Excellent Italian restaurant. One of the best I've eaten in, including in Italy. Food was very flavorful and freshly prepared. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were very busy, but still able to get me a table. I would recommend a reservation. I had Mama Mia, which was freshly made spaghetti and beautiful grilled prawns.

Nous avons été agréablement surpris par le service, à la fois rapide et efficace. Les pâtes fraîches étaient absolument délicieuses, cuites à la perfection avec des sauces savoureuses qui nous ont régalés. On sent vraiment la qualité des ingrédients et le savoir-faire en cuisine. Pour couronner le tout, les prix sont très raisonnables, ce qui rend l'expérience d'autant plus satisfaisante. Un excellent rapport qualité-prix ! Que demander de plus ? Une adresse à retenir pour les amateurs de cuisine italienne authentique et sans prétention !

They wanted an additional €60 from us because three people didn't show up for the agreed meal (accident). And that even though there were plenty of seats available in the restaurant. And then they indirectly asked for tips. Never again!!!

The rude, unprofessional, brash waitress with red hair (old) detracted from the lovely ambience. Your disrespectful behavior spoiled our mood.

Waiters are so rude. We waited for about 30 min to order food. We were waiving hands to get their attention but they waiter comes and says “i am not your dog”. Of course you are not my dog, i am just trying to order… unbelievable

I am appalled at the treatment I received at this restaurant. The service was not only incredibly rude, but also openly disrespectful. What shocked me most, however, was the blatant racism I faced. It's a shame that something like this still happens in this day and age. I'm giving it two stars because I don't want my review to be dismissed as mere hate speech. But this behavior is absolutely unacceptable and I will definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's sad and outrageous that people are treated like this here.

An authentic restaurant where you can find the atmosphere of Italy

I recently had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I reserved a table in advance. When I entered the store, the waitress barely noticed me. She gave me a seat in the far corner of the restaurant, in the blazing sun, even though I politely asked for another table for two or a table for four. Her answer was that the seating distribution is determined by the restaurant and all tables are already reserved. But when German guests later arrived without reservations, they were allowed to choose a seat freely. I also saw other guests sitting in pairs at tables of four. I hope that in the future the restaurant will rethink its seating policy and treat all guests equally. No one should be treated differently because of their origins or appearance.

We were eating at Macaroni with 6 friends. Everyone was very satisfied. From the aperitif to the main course and dessert, everything was really good. The atmosphere is very nice and we spent a great 3 hours there.

Just left the restaurant. Reasonable price for 4 people Big negative point when wanting to leave 1 tip, the waitress retorted to me with a haughty air that she did not take a small tip!

We were there for the second time yesterday and the food was once again absolutely top class. I had the PIZZA CON TUTTO Tomato sauce with spicy Venetian garlic salami, ham, fresh field mushrooms, onions and peppers for €13.50. The mushrooms were very fresh and still didn't water down the pizza. The salami and ham were spicy but not salty, the dough was delicious and crispy, absolutely top. My wife had the PIZZA BURRATA RUCOLA, delicate tomato sauce, mozzarella (fior di latte), rocket, cherry tomatoes and burrata, crema di basilico for €16.50. Here again, delicious, crispy and fresh. The service was very friendly and service-oriented. And the portions are absolutely filling. A very clear recommendation in the heart of Aachen. We are happy to have found this place!

I can't understand the good rating. The ciabatta were dry and the much praised homemade pasta was VERY al dente - the taste could also be improved.

In bester Innenstadtlage kann man sich auch Unverschämtes erlauben. Auf der Karte stand "Pulpo mit Rosmarinkartoffeln". Auf meine Frage ob man auch einen kleinen Beilagensalat bekommen kann, wurde dies bejaht. Es kommt ein Teller mit gegrilltem Pulpo mit reichlich Rosmarinkartoffeln und, man staune, mit reichlich Salat, obwohl das nicht auf der Karte stand. Dazu kommt dann noch der bestellte Beilagensalat im Extraschälchen. Auf meine Anmerkung, dass man bei der Bestellung sagen muss, dass schon ein Salat dabei ist, meinte die Bedienung, der Salat auf dem Teller sei Deko. Unangetastet ging der zusätzliche Salat natürlich zurück, wurde aber fakturiert. Schließlich hätte ich diesen ja auch bestellt. Da ist es auch fast egal, dass der Pulpo teilweise und einige Kartoffeln angekohlt waren. Sonst hätte es zwei Punkte gegeben

Unfortunately, I can't contribute much good. Perhaps a very popular restaurant with tourists because it is located right in the beautiful city center of Aachen. But: our food was moderately tasty, very high in fat. The prices are quite “high”. The service was partly inattentive and only partially friendly. We sat inside and the room was dark and we were quite cramped. We as Aachen residents will no longer visit this restaurant. There are better alternatives.

The pizza mozzarella di Buffalo was badly done. Too greasy, mozzarella had no taste,basil wasn’t fresh. Ravioli and a fish plate didn’t taste good either. Despite the unreasonably high prices the quality definitely did not match any expectations. Staff were not welcoming at all we got there around 21:20 and we were getting rushed and were told to order immediately as the place was closing (even though they said they close at 23:00). After our unfortunate meal the waiter then proceeded to explain with a standoffish attitude that I should tip 10-20%. Bad overall experience and do not expect any appetizers.

I give it the highest score because in every respect everything is at the highest level, the food is delicious, the service is friendly, the atmosphere is such that you are relaxed and understand that you will return to this restaurant again. I recommend a visit.

Surprising experience, when asked what we wanted to order, the waiter made it clear that an earlier response to a question when we had just been seated was inappropriate. Hopefully it was a clear signal, and as for this “cameriere": V@FF@NC¥LO !!!

Trotz ausgebuchter Tische bekamen wir von Iris - absolut freundliche Bedienung - noch eine kleine feine Ecke hergerichtet. Top Service, perfektes Essen und unser großer Hund durfte auch mit rein. Wir kommen wieder!

Ich hatte kürzlich das Vergnügen, im Restaurant Macaroni in Aachen zu speisen, und war begeistert. Die Vorspeise, Rote Beete Ravioli, war eine tolle Kombination aus Geschmack und Präsentation. Das Hauptgericht, Scaloppine Pepe Verde, war ebenfalls hervorragend: das Fleisch war saftig und zart, begleitet von einer würzigen Pfeffersauce, die alle Aromen wunderbar miteinander verband. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam, und das Ambiente gemütlich und einladend. Insgesamt war es ein unvergessliches kulinarisches Erlebnis, das ich jedem Feinschmecker wärmstens empfehlen kann. Macaroni ist definitiv ein Highlight der Aachener Gastronomieszene!

I knew where I was going with my family, but I was really excited again! Sat inside for the first time - the atmosphere was great! We all loved the food! I was impressed by the service the day before when I ordered a table. Today anyway! We will be back!

Had a meal at Macaroni recently in Aachen and the food was excellent. However, the most impressive part was the service. Iris, the waitress provided high quality service and was very helpful about food choices. She is a gun when it comes to service.

Great place to taste Italian dishes. Personal care. The waiters have the ability to make good recommendations. They have an excellent Italian wine list.

An Art Nouveau restaurant...at its best. You feel like you're in another world and would like to have clothes from that time on your body. Service was very friendly, food was very tasty. Stopped there by chance, but didn't regret it. If there is space... stop in and let yourself go.

Had a spontaneous meal there. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. The kitchen knows what it's doing, everything is great. You feel comfortable in the elegant atmosphere and enjoy the hospitality. We can only recommend eating there and will definitely come back. Worth five stars for us.

Beautiful interior and tasty meal

The lasagne was very good and pizzas were very good. You can also sit outside here really well.

Nice location, but a totally missed opportunity & disappointment. The location is great to be honest. Right behind the entrance of the Dome and close to a small square connecting the backside of the Dome, the street to the Rathaus and some small other streets. The Jugendstil interior is cozy and nice to sit in and worth an eye to be honest. Service is friendly no doubt. But the food is to be honest very basic & blend and I must say that having had dinner at the place and having the reviews in mind which were the driver to go there I was rather disappointed (not to say fooled). I'm not expecting haute cuisine when going to a restaurant, I love traditional good food as any other. However, I do expect that it is clear that the person in the kitchen or whomever in the restaurant actually takes pride in what they put on a plate. The pizzas are premade dough straight out of a factory on which the toppings were simply thrown out straight of a package. Without exaggeration, pizzas in any low cost grocery store have more appeal then what our kids got served... Salads are composed out of once again salad, pre-sliced carrots out of a pack, tuna out of a can and dressing from I have no clue which brand. Frankly, if you would take pride as an Italian in what you serve then this is far from how it should be. And if you even are unable to invest time and effort as an Italian restaurant to make proper fresh pizza bases, then it's a shame really. This place has some much potential. My honest and well meant advise: revise your menu, start working with real & fresh products and put some real Italian pride and drive in your dishes. If there is one cuisine that is so extremely simple but you can make amazingly beautiful, tasteful & impressive dishes in then it's most definitely the Italian Cuisine without too much effort.

Super nice restaurant with a great ambience and very tasty food. The staff definitely knows what they are doing, super friendly, attentive and sometimes funny :) we felt very comfortable and will definitely come back again.

The food (sauce and noodles) was already dried out when it arrived at the table. There was a lot of “lint” floating in the glass of white wine. When I complained about it, no new glass of wine was brought, even though it was promised. The service was extremely slow and the prices were rather high. The atmosphere was loud, old and uncomfortable. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone.

Great location, almost great food - Ultimately everything turns out okay; But it's rare that the service is better than the food. My wife had a caprese - instead of fresh basil (which is currently available) with basil oil, okay? I had a vitello tonnato, decent, but I doubt that there was a veal stock on the tonnato, which made the whole thing taste rather banal, but still good.

We arrived without a reservation, but a spot was still found for us. We then had a delicious meal in this beautiful restaurant in the heart of Aachen.
