The food was okay. The service wasn't good. The waiter couldn't do math and asked me, as a guest, for a cell phone with a calculator. He also didn't say goodbye to the guests and was too shy for the job.

We went there because we needed a snack or something to eat between meals. The food was very good, but unfortunately, the service wasn't very good. We had to calculate for the young man how much each of us had to pay (since we had paid separately). It wasn't a problem, but once we had sorted everything out and paid, the young man suddenly became unfriendly and didn't even say goodbye. He just walked away. That was, of course, a bit disappointing.

Very friendly service, very nice restaurant, we didn't eat here, but we drank coffee every day and beer and Aperol in the evening, I have to admit, with a view of the mountains, what more could you want when you're on holiday in a mountain village.

Very tasty, freshly prepared dishes! The quality of the food is truly excellent. We went there three times in one week and tried a variety of dishes. It's a very pleasant contrast to the monotonous fare you usually find in Oberstdorf. The staff are all very friendly, serving quickly and professionally. I personally recommend the goulash and roast pork.

During our 10 days in Oberstdorf, we went to Alt 168 five times, and no matter what we ate or drank, everything was always excellent. We can only recommend it with warm stones.

We were absolutely thrilled, including our two dogs. 😂 Very comfortably furnished restaurant with delicious home-cooked meals and homemade cakes. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were there almost every day. We'll be back next year to eat and drink. We're already looking forward to the food, as everything was delicious, unlike other restaurants in town.

We had a wonderful New Year's Eve in this cozy location. We were particularly happy about the flexibility of the kitchen - we were served delicious Kaiserschmarrn even at a late hour. No children's menu and the service was extremely unfriendly

Our evening at Alt 168 Mabella in Oberstdorf was simply wonderful! In the small restaurant with an adjoining café, which is used as an extended dining room in the evenings, you immediately feel at home. The service was attentive and extremely warm, the food was first class - we were particularly impressed with the Jägerschnitzel and the onion roast. Everything was prepared with a lot of love, and the cozy atmosphere rounded off the experience perfectly. We will definitely come back and can only recommend it! Don't forget to reserve!

Although we enjoyed the food, we can only give it 2 stars. The “wild herb salad” from the menu turned out to be a mixed green salad. When the owner asked when serving where the wild herbs were, the answer came: "under the lollo rosso salad." We found, among a lot of lollo rosso salad, then: rocket, spinach, field and pickle lettuce. We didn't find the wild herbs. Unfortunately, the menu raises higher expectations that are not actually met. When it comes to baked potatoes with cheese for €21.90, the offer is limited: one (!) medium-sized potato with cheese, the aforementioned (non-) wild herb salad, and herb yoghurt dip - supplemented by 3 slices of baguette so that you don't get hungry again straight away. To be on the safe side, the baguette was not mentioned in the menu. The waitress said she would pass it on to the kitchen. When asked about it again, all I get is the statement that they have always done it that way. The owner didn't come to us to clarify this with us. It's a shame, such dishonest treatment of guests, no clarifying conversation or discount or an extra drink as a courtesy - even though they try to be special.

Food great, staff friendly and quick. Price performance top. All in all great. We'll be back.

9.1.25 we visited this restaurant cafe. We were disappointed. Drinks are clearly too expensive and the food, a soup, is too little! In addition, the service made a very listless impression. Once you ordered something outside, you never saw her again. We will avoid this restaurant in the future!

We've been coming to this restaurant every now and then for years, but it doesn't work that way. We came in and said we had reserved for 2 people, then a listless person who felt disturbed looked in the guest book on her cell phone activities, couldn't find our name, so I looked over my shoulder (I'm assuming it wasn't there either) and got it a joke that I had no business being in your guest book, also because of data protection (as if I could do something with the names that were there). Then it was further delegated that an employee who was very nice, would show us our place, then she got rid of us and was able to use her cell phone again busy, then it turned out that she was the cook and the food was lukewarm. I only give the 5 stars to the young woman who served us, you could forget everything else. The date was December 25, 2024

We had ordered a table in March on December 28th and 29th, 2024, the only thing that was ok. was. After about 20 minutes we could place the order. The food was bad, I ordered ox meat. I almost only chewed on cartilage....disgusting!!!¡ Then we ordered more drinks. The wine came immediately, my beer after exactly 25 minutes. Simply impossible. We therefore didn't keep the appointment we had booked the next day. A couple at the next table also reacted very disappointingly.

Hello guys, luckily I can revise my review below. We are back in Oberstdorf and lo and behold, the representation in the summer of 2024 turned out to be a lie. There was never a change of tenant at Mabella Cafe Alt 168 in Oberstdorf and everything is back as it was. We are very happy to have our regular restaurant back. People come by, talk to the owners and you too will receive a warm welcome and be very well looked after. A couple of friends who have already received a certificate from the Toristem office have been guests here at Alt 168 for years. We've been here for a while and have been celebrating New Year's Eve here for years. We wanted to order a table today and make everything clear again for New Year's Eve. But there is probably a new tenant here and our feeling told us to stay away. It's a shame, it was always really familiar here and the food was delicious. We'll find something suitable again.

My visit to the coffee shop on Saturday evening at 6 p.m.! After asking whether there was vegan milk with the coffee, the friendly waiter initially reacted uncertainly. When I listed the options, he spontaneously confirmed that he had organic oat milk. My latte was brought to me shortly afterwards. With an extra note: “Latte with organic oat milk.” The latte tasted very good, the milk foam was great! But since I have a casein intolerance, an hour later I felt unwell, stomach pain and flatulence... My night was terrible and since I didn't eat anything other than the latte that night I hope the waitress can usually tell the difference between the packs. It probably didn't work for me!

Basically just had a coffee but it took some time before a service came.🤷‍♀️

I called the MARBELLA Café - Alt 168 and asked for it to be sent. When I arrived home 7 days later, my baseball cap was already there. FREE for me with the note: “Fits like this :-)”. Cheers! Not recommended as a solo traveler. The shop was empty. I was offered the cat table. Didn't get a menu, had to choose between Kässpätzle and goulash soup. I left.

I can't judge food. But 20 minutes until you get the drinks is impossible. Especially when the dining room was empty and only about 20 people were present outside. To pay, the "lady" who scolded the waitress for not even coming to the table, you should pay in the restaurant. But what the heck. There are plenty of other bars in Oberstdorf where you can have a drink!!!

Even though there was almost no space left outside or inside, I was served quickly and friendly. I didn't have to wait long for drinks or my food. The (young) staff keeps a keen eye on the guests. I felt very comfortable and welcome here. I'll be back, no question ;-)

Good business with a super nice lady at the counter. I was there with my dog ​​after a brisk walk and the lady was so kind to my and other dogs, for which she deserves a big compliment from me. The food was also great. I will definitely go back and recommend everyone to go. They deserve an excellent 8+ there.

Great decor, very tasty food, A1 service

Bedienung kam sofort, war nett aber etwas speziell. Sie hat uns das Essen empfohlen, dieses war zum Glück gut. Unsere Tischnachbarn hatten sich das Essen anders vorgestellt, das haben sie der Kellnerlin auch gesagt, was sie aber nicht gut aufnahm und somit eher genervt zu ihnen war.

Very friendly service, the tagliatelle with salmon tasted very good and the portion was enough to fill you up.

Beef broth was sour in taste. Maybe something else?! Waitress wasn't interested in my answer as to whether the food tasted good. Onion roast a shoe sole. No service there. Kaiserschmarrn is not possible because there is only one cook. Looks nice though.

ATTENTION RIP-OFF! The food was okay. The service was sloppy and unfriendly. We asked for the bill and the waitress asked us: "Would you like some more schnapps to say goodbye?" We had finished the liquor and had to say again that we wanted to pay. The waitress came when asked and brought us the bill. The schnapps wasn't listed on the bill, but we were supposed to pay for it anyway! (In addition, a beer that we actually drank wasn't listed, but of course we were "gladly" paying for it. Payment was supposed to be in cash. Weird, right? ;-) ) CONCLUSION: We will not recommend this restaurant because other reviews read similar things. There doesn't seem to be any coincidence here (system???)!

It no longer has any of the cozy corner pub. It appears to be under new lease. In this climate, whether outside or inside, there is only one thing: get up and go, it's really bad, not a good atmosphere, you immediately feel that you're actually just the annoying tourist who just needs to be sent away. But that's often the case in Oberstdorf these days, it's a shame the atmosphere in the town has unfortunately changed for the worse.

Everything was great! The service was outstanding! Very friendly and above all attentive! After the Mediterranean pasta came with rocket that was no longer so fresh, the waitress took the dish away again and added fresh ingredients. The whole meal was super tasty and the portions were huge. We'd love to come back!

I can only explain the positive reviews by saying that the owners must have changed by now. I'm honestly shocked after tonight at Alt 168. If I could give zero stars, I would have. First, the wrong dish came (okay, it can happen), the meat in this dish was very tough and fried to death, the Kaiserschmarrn, which I was persuaded to eat and which supposedly took 30 minutes, was first forgotten, then it supposedly burned and the one I rejected Apple strudel was still served and ultimately left untouched. It felt like a tactic to keep the guest with them for as long as possible (the Kaiserschmarrn debacle lasted more than an hour in total). Mistakes such as a forgotten drink are blamed on incompetent staff (which is really not OK in my opinion) and at the next table we witnessed how a nice "I would like to bring you a schnapps" was not on the house but was charged . Last but not least, we also had to complain about the bill because the Kaiserschmarrn was still on the bill. Even though they then accommodated us with the bill amount, it didn't really make up for the other things. Only the location of the café is pleasant enough to report at least something positive. There are so many great restaurants in Oberstdorf, unfortunately this isn't one of them.

We were very disappointed with everything. Unfriendly when making the reservation in the afternoon, in the evening the waitress (apparently the boss) wasn't willing to give us a table outside because it might have rained again. There are still Christmas decorations in the restaurant...a bit inappropriate but you can ignore it. We ordered cheese sparrows and wild garlic sparrows. Within a few minutes the food was there. Lukewarm and soaked in fat. This had nothing to do with freshly made sparrows. Our wave was ignored and we had to complain about food at the counter. Within a very short time we got new sparrows, again not really warm. At times we were insulted because we opened the small openings in the window. We then had the sparrows packed up because we were full from all the fat and excessive cheese. Only the side salad was good. We also heard the employees behind the counter gossiping about our complaint. We wanted to leave as quickly as possible, and the schnapps on the house didn't help either...

At lunchtime for a small hunger - Obazda with bread. I've often eaten here in the Allgäu and bought it at the deli counters in the shops. So ordered here too. Unfortunately I had to return the dish after a single bite. I don't like goat cheese. It's not on the menu either. From the kitchen - onto the plate - and then into the trash. I wasn't even asked why. Only after I had to pay for the garbage did I get the answer: "Original Allgäuer Obatzda is always made with goat cheese." Am I really the only one who doesn't know this? The original Allgäu egg dish, Kaiserschmarrn style, is also served here with almonds. Attention allergy sufferers - it's not on the menu either. HoHoHo - the Christmas decorations in June on the tables and on the walls - somehow spooky.

Very good food, ox cheeks are as tender as butter, but unfortunately only 2 very small cheeks. Kaiserschmarren is made fresh and also tastes very good.

Are we looking at the same place? According to the pictures yes. My wife and I booked a table on the strength of their menu, goulash and Allgauer specialties. I wish we could have tasted some... After being given the menu we were ignored for 25 minutes while other groups were seen ahead of us. No one even took a drinks order. Even after asking for service we were ignored. Enough was enough, we left unfed. Perhaps the language barrier was too much even though I have enough German to pass. Won't be back, there's much better around the town.

Went to Caffe Alt for coffee on Tuesday April 30th at lunchtime. The black-haired waitress was very friendly and extremely arrogant. In the future, when I'm on holiday in Oberstdorf again, I'll give coffee a wide berth

When we are in Oberstdorf we visit this restaurant twice. The cheese stock alone makes the visit worth it. But not just because of the cheese fondue.

Expensive disgusting food! The vegetable lasagne was a salty mush, the baked potato had never seen an oven, the Obadzda was spread with bad bread. impudence.

Typical little café in the heart of Oberstdorf, the service was young and attentive, the ambience. It's great to enjoy outside when the weather is good. We cannot provide any information about the food.

Very unfriendly experience. The salad was okay, the pasta was drowned in sauce and the cheese spaetzle had no taste at all. After the friendly approach, after waiting, salt and pepper were brought and then the food was taken away. The operation was barely understandable and the boss herself immediately started complaining that her shop had been around for 30 years. By the way, only cash payment is possible.

Unfortunately I wasn't satisfied at all. The pasta was cold, the glazed tomatoes, the rocket nest and the parmesan were missing. The dish was warmed up again in the microwave, which resulted in the 3 leaves of arugula becoming mushy. The Parmesan was only added when requested. Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio for this dish was not right. However, the young waitress was very friendly and attentive.

I ordered 168 Alt. In the worst case, all I can do is clarify. But timing and support is no longer possible. ☹️

The food was delicious and the service was nice and friendly! The prices for drinks, on the other hand, are underground! At 7.90 for 0.2 l, the wine should taste good and not like cheap booze from a discount store! Likewise the Ramazotti, which is also served in the cheap version at a steep price! What a shame!

Highly Recommended! The waitresses are super friendly, the gentleman behind the tap is super friendly and the kitchen staff is super friendly too. The food tasted really good. There was Jägerschnitzel and Allgäuer Käsespätzle. Every little wish is catered for and the restaurant can only be recommended.

Unfortunately we have bad memories of the place --- cold plates and cold goulash are not that great. We let the food go back and then left. Something like that shouldn't happen in a good kitchen. The service wasn't unfriendly but very slow-witted for a restaurant. It was hard to notice that no card payment was possible. Large signs belong on the table. Wir sind jedes Jahr im Alt 168! Ein nettes Team, dass immer Platz für unsere Truppe findet, toller Service, leckeres Essen und schön eingerichtet ist der Laden auch noch! Wir freuen uns schon auf den Herbst 2024, wenn wir wieder da sind!

Wir waren 6 Erwachsene und voller Vorfreude auf das Essen!!!Leider wurden wir bitter enttäuscht!!! Ich hatte eine Bionade bestellt die 3 Monate abgelaufen war!!!Keine vernünftige Entschuldigung oder Entschädigung!!! Ausserdem haben 3 Personen ihr Essen gekriegt und die anderen 3 erst ca 10 Minuten später!!! Während die 3 Personen auf ihr Essen gewartet haben, haben wir mitgekriegt wie andere Tische bedient wurden!!! Ausserdem wurde der Tisch abgeräumt obwohl noch welche am Essen waren!!!
