hands down best service in the entire Berlin so far (been here for almost 6 years and managed 2 cafes and over 60 people)! from a fellow colleague and a quite adhd person: thank you! Andrea really took the time to explain me and my friend the entire menu and her approach was so customer-centered and caring, I truly appreciated that. instead of trying to sell me everything she understood my needs and was so friendly, lovely, yet super professional! she also offered to pack the remaining sauce I didn't finish (ate it at home with eggs & bread: delish!) the food was absolutely delicious and I'll definitely be back to try all the other tempting dishes she described so well, thank you <3 ps. don't forget to try the kopi cafe (with butter & condensed milk), the pineapple cocktail (a piña colada twist), and the crispy tofu! it was my first delve into the malaysian & singapore cuisin, but definitely not the last one, see you very soon for the french toast weekend special <3

Banging food! Quite a pleasant surprise… Never had Singaporean/Malaysian food before. The meals were simple (chicken rice/Kohlrabi salad) but - oh boy! were they delicious… Often there is a trade-off between a flavor explosion and healthy tummy feeling at restaurants. Not in this place. Setting is down to earth, people a bit hip (Xberg after all…) and service attentive and sweet.

Little Malaysian/Singaporean restaurant with a small menu. The food was good but in our opinion a little bit too pricey for what you get. We had the nasi lemak, I would say it is probably the closest to authentic you can get in Europe.

I miss the little cups from Malaysia! Kerabu salad and Hainanese chicken rics were authentic, would recommend!

Best malaysian restaurant in Berlin! Super friendly Staff and awesome food!

We wanted to try something new and “hawker style Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine” definitely was new to us. 😆 The menu kept things simple with about a few appetizers, about 4 main dishes and a few desserts plus whatever is the special. So we could pretty much try it all. 😁 While this was a plus, I have to admit that we were rather underwhelmed by some of the dishes. For some rice with simple sides, the pricing didn’t appear quite appropriate to us… I do however recommend their pandan and rum cocktail/ longdrink. That was delicious! 😄

I've been there several times and the food is generally tasty but quite overpriced. Unfortunately the opening times are also very inconvenient but oh well. The other day I got pandan coconut jam and got a bit of a nasty attack because the whole staff was eating with friends in front of the shop, but the shop wasn't officially open. I still got the jam and was even able to pay with a card even though the waitress only wanted to charge in cash at first.

Food was amazing and you can really tell how much care and love went into it. The curry was fresh and spicy, Kaya butter toast is a must try. I can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!!

Best food in the area we think, the staff is cute, the outdoor seating is comfy, dish ideas are always interesting and really enjoy the flavors

I just saw the app from 小紅書 comment. But I think these radom rude comment is not good behavior from china app. Keep going what you do and keep away from these mainland china people messed up. Some people really sensitive and aggressive. But you people did not wrong, hoping these china folks get tired these leave you a peace.

The food was an absolute disaster and not worth a single cent. I just can't believe I wasted 20 euros to ruin my entire evening at this restaurant. But what's even worse: The service was extremely unfriendly and openly racist towards Southeast Asians. Something like this is absolutely unacceptable and must not be tolerated.

The owner and staff of this restaurant are blatant racists and bigots. Even though we are also Asian, they refused to serve us because of our Asian appearance. We arrived much earlier than other white customers, waiting at least half an hour, yet those who came later than us had already finished their Hainanese chicken rice while we were still waiting for ours. When we waved and said "Hallo" to a curly-haired staff member, she clearly saw and heard us but deliberately ignored us. Finally, when they brought the wrong dish to us, instead of offering any explanation, a short-haired girl rudely asked us to leave. This is blatant racism. They even tried to twist the situation. Their attitude is absolute horrible.

As someone who has lived in Malaysia and Singapore, I can confidently say this is a great option for Malaysian food in Berlin. The limited menu is usually a good sign IMO, focusing on quality over quantity. Nasi Lemak and Chicken Rice are solid choices but the Curry of the Day truly stands out. Beware that seating is limited, and service can be rather slow during peak hours. We had to wait over 30 minutes but it was ultimately worth :)

You really confuse right and wrong. We never scolded your staff. We waited for a long time until the people who came later than us had already eaten, and we ordered the same food as the next table. It was only at this time that I asked your staff how long we had to wait because other tables who came after us had already received their food, why didn't they give us food first because we came first. But your staff just told us to wait, and then we waited for another ten minutes. I tried to talk to another staff, but she ignored us. We could only wait, and then a girl with short hair brought two plates of Hainanese chicken rice, but it was not the food we ordered. I told her and she just let me go. You are racist. If I scolded your staff as you said, why did she ask me if I wanted anything else when I asked her, when we hadn't finished our drinks and the people who came later than us had already started eating. Your logic is unreasonable.

It's legit and good, but lately the prices are way too intense, trying to profit on ICE in cup for your drink for 50 cents is a bit to out of the way.

Nasi lemak was great and the sambal just like back home 🇲🇾 the sago dessert was delicious too. Definitely recommend this restaurant for Malaysian food!

For one craving or simply to experience Malaysian food, this is THE place to go. The chicken rice with its spice condiments hits the spot, so does the nasi lemak - yummo! Taufu goreng, a vegan option, is another mouth watering dish. The sago pearl pudding is delectable with the rich creamy coconut cream and 'gula melaka' brown cane syrup. I have yet to try their famous curry laksa so will need to add that to my 'done that, ate tha' list.

Wonderful experience at Ma-Makan! I have many of the top allergies and it’s not always the easiest to dine out, especially when traveling into a foreign country. However I am so glad google reviews led me to this restaurant. The service was amazing and the hostess, server, chef and even the owner came out to double check with my allergies to make sure I am able to dine at their restaurant. Since it was laksa week, they didn’t have their hainanese chicken but made a special rice dish that had everything I could eat, which I am SO grateful for. This type of care for their patrons and people is what makes this restaurant stand out. Thank you!

Amazing food! The waitress is a little Bit too invasive and certainly passive aggressive.

A must visit place that's gotta be on your list if you are craving from Chicken Rice. This place literally brought back all my memories from the time I was in Singapore. One additional thing I was amazed by was the memory of our waitress. We were six people and she took our order without a pen or paper and got it right to the last dish. Overall, really amazing food served by people with a smile!

Unfortunately, €14 for a main dish with a fried egg, rice, peanuts and three smaller ingredients is far too much. My recommendation is to stick to the starters, they looked more promising.

If you never try Malaysian or Singapore cuisine before, it definitely a place for you to try it. Fried tofu is worth to try, served with sweet and savoury sauce with a unique flavour, tofu skin is crispy and crunchy peanut and cucumber add a lot more texture.

I order curry if the week with shrimp, for 15€ and it’s come with 3 shrimps, the food is really good and authentic, but the quantity is really disappointed

As a Singaporean, I must admit that I was slightly underwhelmed by the authenticity and overall quality of the food served at the establishment. The special curry (3/10) was indeed healthy, but it lacked the depth of flavor and complexity that I would expect from an authentic Singaporean curry. It tasted rather bland and reminded me of something I might quickly prepare at home using leftover ingredients. The Kaya Toast (3/10) was also a bit disappointing. The kaya jam seemed to be lacking in the distinctive pandan flavor, which is an essential component of this dish. I would suggest that the cheft consider using a store-bought pandan jam if they are going to keep being stingy on using pandan and misleading the tasty flavor of kaya. Additionally, the slices of butter in the toast made it quite heavy, which is not ideal for a starter menu item. I hope that the butter was an optional add-on rather than a standard component of the dish. Furthermore, the onsen, soft eggs were served cold, which detracted from the overall experience. The chicken rice (6/10) had some redeeming qualities. The garlic-flavored rice was flavorful, although it was not cooked all the way through. It is important to note that al dente rice is not a concept that is typically found in Asian cooking. The cilantro and cucumbers were nice accompaniments to the dish. However, I was disappointed that sweetened dark soy sauce, which is a traditional condiment for chicken rice, was not offered. Instead, they provided regular soy sauce with added sesame oil, which is not the same. The Nasi Lemak (5/10) was passable, but it did not leave a lasting impression on me. I would not be inclined to order it again. The Soursop drink (4/10) had a refreshing lime flavor, but the soursop flavor was not as pronounced as I would have liked. The menu indicated that it was a soda, but there was no noticeable fizziness in the drink.. Overall, I would say this restaurant is worth considering if you have no expectations for Singaporean or Malaysian cuisine. I personally do not foresee myself yearning to dine there again.

Underwhelming food at a high price for what you get. 5 pieces of boiled chicken with rice. Sauces were nice and the soup was good, but for €16, not worth it.

We had the Kaya Toast with butter, Sago Pudding, Nasi Goreng and Hainanese Chicken Rice. There is not much to say. Every dish was really good. The people working in the restaurant clearly care about the dishes served and it’s reflected in the taste. Doubt you can go wrong with anything in the menu.

Our dish was kinda disappointing. 5 pieces of boiled chicken, rice, and 2 slices of cucumber, and some small sauces for 16 euros. This was definitely overpriced for what you got. The other dishes looked better. To the positive ones. The service was friendly and card payments were possible.

I really liked my sayur lodeh with prawns — with tempeh, beans, curry, egg inside. Also I‘d recommend to try their coffee with condensed milk. They take cards but don‘t offer free tap water.

Fabulous place, it's not a restaurant but more of a Kopitiam which is totally awesome. Warm inviting staff and chilled out atmosphere. Food was great, as good as it can get compared to back home. A good fix for anyone who's missing home. Well done Ma-Makan!!

The best Malaysian / Singaporean food I’ve had outside of Southeast Asia. Their teh Tarik is on point. Bonus points for the hawker center plates.

Most expensive simple nasi lemak €14 + €4 chicken. They said chicken will come in 2pc (its only come in 2 silce) 1pcs chicken wings they cut it become 2!! Smart 😂 will not recomended to anyone

Friendly service, decent food with interesting pricing. Lived in Malaysia and Singapore. The food is okay but lacks some authentic taste. Had the curry of the week and for me it was not rich enough. The pricing for food and expecially drinks feels a bit too steep for what you get.

Food was good, but not quite sure if it was worth the prices. The staff was super friendly at the beginning but will get sour if you don't give at least 10% tip, which is usually not expected in German nor Berlin

Walked in on a Friday night, had really delicious nasi lemak!

Nice ambience, nice service, taste okay too but despite inflation etc. it's just too expensive and not enough. Essentially there is rice with a fried egg, the rest is pre-cooked and just portioned. I understand the hype, but you don't have to do everything. The Tiger beer for €5 is also too expensive, so it doesn't help to write the beer on the menu as pale ale to justify the price. It's a pale lager at most.

A taste of my home, Malaysia. Fantastic nasi lemak, crunchy fried chicken, bright smiles, and overall pleasant experience. Nostalgic and comforting. Hope for your continuous success and continue serving amazing Malaysian food.

Sun was shining so we were happy in the outdoor seating. Waitress was really friendly. I had the Mushroom congee - the mushrooms were savoury and crunchy. We also had the nasi lemak which my boyfriend loved and there were zero remnants of the Chicken rice my friend had. If you order the Teh Tarik - make sure you have a sweet tooth!

Some nuts and uncooked egg for 15 euros. Rice Porridge with half egg for 12.5. Not recommended at all

Top food! The dessert, the sago pudding, was unfortunately a little too sweet (too much brown sugar), but the main courses were even more delicious, especially the fried chicken!

Similar to other reviews I think the food itself is totally not at average quality. Even though the waitress seems pretty much open when I gave her a constructive feedback. In general I think it is worthless for visiting comparing with too many high quality restaurants around this area

We had a drink and Nasi Lemak (with Chicken Ayam). We also had the Kapi and the Tea. I guess the menu here is not updated, but Nasi Lemak with chicken would cost you almost €18. I was surprised the Sambal was not spicy and I did a little bit of research to realise that there is a Sweet Sambal that is served with Nasi Lemak that is not spicy. The chicken Ayam was the highlight! Again, not spicy like the menu says but it has good flavours. So I was slightly disappointed that the chicken promised spice but did not deliver. Per person we spent about €22 (with a non-alcoholic beverage)

A hidden gem. The food is authentic, and you can tell it is made with so much care, passion and effort. Very nice, friendly staff too. The plan is to eat there every week :)

If you come for the atmosphere, you're welcome to do so, but the food and drink weren't worth the visit. We can't even understand all of these five star ratings. Here's our opinion: We had the special Hong Kong toast, which was way too sweet. The noodle soup was far too bland, it just tasted like noodles in hot, unseasoned coconut milk. The rice was too dry and the chicken legs had been in the frying oil for a little too long, so that preparing the plate looked really sad. The pudding tasted more salty than sweet :( The coffee was more than watery, as if the coffee had already been poured over the filter a few times. Conclusion: Inflation or not, but food and drink also have to taste according to the prices. What here Unfortunately, that didn't apply. It's a shame! Given the quality and quantity, the price-performance ratio isn't right at all. We'll probably not come back a second time.

Nasi lemak has a very small portion and didn’t taste anything special. Kaya toast tasted nice and the coffees were all rather too sweet. Nasi lemak shouldn’t cost more than 10 euro tbh, with what i got on the plate. Very very small coffee for 5 euro. I would come back just for the kaya toast.

It was super disappointing. Extremely over priced and not delicious food. I had Nasi and without any protein but egg, it costed 14€ and it was dry as hell. So so so not good. Really don’t understand where the hype is coming from. My friend had Laksa and she didn’t like it at all too

The service was extremely friendly and the atmosphere is very original (suitable for people who don't mind a little more noise when eating). However, I wasn't impressed with the food. I had the chicken rice and my girlfriend had something similar in a vegetarian version. The rice was pretty unspectacular for me and the chicken broth I got with it unfortunately didn't make the meal any better either. Unfortunately, my friend's meal was similar and a bit dry as there was hardly any sauce with the rice.

Very nice atmosphere which made me feel like to be in a local restaurant in Malaysia. Friendly service however overpriced food (dried age chicken) from nasi lemak (18€) , condense milk cafe felt like the third water filtered. Price doesn’t equal quality.

The place is nice, well managed. The food was good, but beware - medium spicy means really spicy even for spicy food lovers. My prawn curry had flavor, but it was overtaken by the "heat" intensity. I was sweating my spinal fluid. Overall, worth visiting.

Both the nasi lemak and the hainanese chicken were delicious, but was especially surprised by the Kaya butter toast! It looks fairly simple, but was genuinely really delicious, will definitely be back!

If I can give more than 5 stars I would! I had the Hainanese chicken, nasi lemak, kaya toast and teh ais. The taste is pretty authentic and it is quite tasty. Definitely stop by to try if you are missing Malaysian food.

Do yourself a favor and eat here! We tried almost all of the main dishes and God, were they tasty. And the dessert with coconut and tapioca... i still think about it everyday. Wish I lived in the neighbourhood to become a regular!! Delicious 😋 (Also, very queer friendly!!)

Wie im Urlaub! Hatte das Nasi Lemak: Reis mit scharf-fruchtigem Sambal, knackigen Erdnüssen, kross-knusprigen Minifischen, saftig-knackige Gurke, perfektem Ei (gelb noch flüssig). Dazu sogar noch scharfes Curry-Gemüse. Wunderbar. Ich war wieder kurz in Indonesien bei einer langen Wanderung wo wir sowas als ToGo Päckchen dabei hatten... So lecker und leicht und doch nahrhaft. Gerne wieder!
