Great terrace, everything else is unfortunately lacking.

Food is nothing special, but it fills you up. Fantastic outdoor terrace with a view of the Rur and far away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

There's hardly a nicer place to sit, the team was very friendly and we had an excellent meal. Starters, then trout, herring in cream, salads and schnitzel, everything was great. Gladly again!

It all started with the apfelsaft spritzt, which the waiter sarcastically corrected as apfelschorle (which has sting in it!). Then I was given a glass of unspiked apple juice. Furthermore, the apple strudel was not warm and the vanilla sauce was absent. A mediocre experience...

The terrace is nice and has a good view. You can have a drink here, but I absolutely don't recommend anything more. The food is bad (0 stars) - frozen goods at tourist prices.

I don't understand some of the bad reviews. We ate schnitzel there today on September 3rd, 2024. Schnitzels were large and of butcher quality. As for the sauces, at least the mustard sauce was homemade. Price for two schnitzels with sauces and fries and salad, soft drinks and a carafe of wine was Mt 50 euros.

Friendly and attentive service. Our meal of pork steak and salmon, each with mustard sauce, was very good. Both in appearance, taste and size. The table on the terrace bit a nice view of the river.

We were greeted with the words: "We have a table, but not just for drinking." We should have left right away. I understand that a restaurant is not a café and that nowadays everyone in the catering industry needs to see that the business is in the black. But you could have said it more kindly. My face probably spoke volumes because from then on the waiter tried very hard to be polite. Then our food came... what a disgrace! The tomato soup was probably from a can and only lukewarm. The Camembert was frozen and fried way too hard. The small salad (which I didn't need) was drizzled with sugar water. What I don't mean by a restaurant is that the chef prepares ready-made food. And bad too. This is really unacceptable at the prices they charge. We will definitely go to the beautiful area again. But definitely not in this restaurant.

We only ended up here because most of the other restaurants in Monschau are closed on Mondays. Apart from the beautiful view from the terrace, the visit is not worth it. We left €40 with drinks for two canned soups that were lukewarm at best and a portion of baked camembert from the freezer. Going to the toilet should then cost another €0.50. Next time I'd rather have a currywurst from the nearest snack bar.

It's just too busy - you can clearly tell that the staff has to work at full speed. Uninviting atmosphere, awful uninviting decor and the food... meh. Ok, but nothing special. Nice: the location, if you can sit outside by the water.

Actually I would give 0 stars. The menu is not up to date online. There are mostly meat and fish dishes. Vegetarians will have to settle for baked potato with tzatziki. The service is very limited. There is nothing here if you wish. If you want to eat a good steak, you should go somewhere else. I absolutely cannot recommend it here. We also had 5 dishes with fries on the side. Instead of being served on a plate as usual, we were given the side dish in a bowl that we could all take something from. You can only enjoy a beautiful view from the terrace.

The view in the restaurant is really fantastic, but unfortunately that was the only positive thing. The fries were way too crispy and tasted like they had been in old frying oil for too long. The schnitzel was old, without any taste and of poor quality. The cream sauce was equally disappointing – completely tasteless. The salad was served without dressing, which made the whole thing even more inedible. When I raised this, the service was completely unresponsive to my criticism, which made the experience even more frustrating. A really disappointing visit, despite the beautiful view.

Danger. Tourist rip-off. We left good money for portions that could only be described as children's plates at best. The mini salad's dressing was sugar water. Very strange. My friend was given a bowl of compote as an ashtray. Who's going to eat the next one? Simply a bad restaurant!

Large cup of coffee, there are actually 2 of them, so almost €5 per cup. Fine. Terrace on/above the river (extension see photo). Toilet also in order.

You don't have to go for the friendly service, but the excellent food more than compensates for that. Fantastic rump steak!! Highly recommended to order it with pepper sauce. Enjoy it:)

Absolutely 0 star value from service to food, crazy tourist rip off! Inedible, disgusting canned food, drinks warm and non-carbonated, without ice at 35 degrees, children's schnitzel served absolutely carelessly and disgustingly, 6-7 fries, a spoonful of apple puree and an indefinable nugget on the side for 11€? Incredibly €62.00 left there and left hungry, it's a shame and I wanted a delicious lunch with my children and that's what we got! Less than 0 stars, shame on others! P.S. We're still wondering how can you make a salad so inedible? Instead of some vinegar, oil, salt, pepper or whatever kind of dressing, it was completely filled with sugar and water... Really just sugar and water, nothing more! A squeeze of lemon would be enough, but sugar and water on the salad for €17?, nothing so disgusting has ever happened to us! It's a real shame for Monschau, but it ruined our day and our visit there! Never come back! I would love to post the pictures but for whatever reason it's not working right now!

The portions are super tiny and yet it is incredibly expensive. The atmosphere, vibe and location is pretty nice but it is clear that the only thing you pay for is the location. Also the cooking is not that good either. For example the mushroom sauce for the Schnitzel is spicier than it should be and the salad was awfully sweet?? Who makes a salad sweet? It's like they poured sugar over it. The chicken wings they offered also seemed almost undercooked. I cannot recommend this location.

The place is very well known to us and is always worth a visit. I ordered a mixed salad in the restaurant and was served about three-quarters of Lollo Rosso with a few small things. It leaves a lot to be desired. We also know the other dishes better. Unfortunately

We had to stop here yesterday because unfortunately many restaurants in Monschau were closed on Tuesdays. The service was ok, the ambience was rather mediocre despite space on the outside terrace. It felt like you were in a train station hall. The prices for the food are totally overpriced and the portions are tiny.

This restaurant is a big play, in a negative sense. Food is meh, ordinary but not special. The person who served us barely scolded us because we didn't know yet what we wanted to order. Customers who had paid were unceremoniously booted out of the store for the next one. Furthermore, mayo cost €1, which was not indicated and they do not have a pin, which was made quite rudely clear. NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Not very pleasant place. You cannot seat outside if you don’t buy food, even thought half of tables are empty. Wine should have been served in special glas. You also cannot pay by card. Just disappointing.

Not very cozy despite the fact that it is located on the river. The food was great, but the service was slightly less so. The cutlery was placed together on 1 plate on the table. So we had to divide the cutlery and napkins among ourselves.

Because the beautiful little city center was already completely overcrowded on Thursday afternoon, we were pleasantly surprised to get a seat on the outside terrace with a view of the Rur. Neither the coffee, the latte macchiato nor the cake taste good. Everything was also completely overpriced. Unfortunately, I can't immediately think of the technical term for such a location. We'll never go there again. The Hensch bakery about 200m away consoled us with their cake on hand, 5 stars for that.

Very nice setting, but the staff are never cold again

Food was beyond miserable. Half of it was no longer available. Jägerschnitzel without sauce and the vegetable meatballs cold and raw! However, the service was very friendly!

Cream schnitzel tasted of cinnamon and sugar (sauce like schnitzel was definitely frozen goods). Serve a smooth 6. The negative highlight was the “salad” that was served beforehand and tasted like grass with water. It's a shame about the actually beautiful location.

Delicious mustard sauce with dishes! Terrace is beautifully situated above the Rur, but be careful in colder weather: only terrace heating in the winter months.

I do not recommend this place at all The terrace is nice but the hostess did not warn when we entered that it did not work to pay by card and gave a very bad excuse If it didn't work, the first thing he should have said when entering was that and we should decide. Worst experience we had in Monschau. Its a nice location with the terrace on the river but thats all really. We came in with a stroller with our sleeping baby inside and the very rude Asian lady right away told us we cant go on the terrace with the stroller and that we have to leave our baby inside, alone! When we told her we will leave then it was all in a sudden okay and to our surprise the whole terrace was basically empty with about 4 tables occupied from about 15 in total with plenty of space. Ice coffee was definitely from a sachet with pieces inside, it was the worst we ever had. Almost 10 euros for the worst ice coffee ever and a watery cola. Never again!

Unfortunately, the menu on the Lütticher Hof homepage is from 2020 and is no longer up to date. Unfortunately, the menu is almost exclusively pork and beef and a bit of fish. Otherwise the staff is relatively inflexible when it comes to ordering (I just wanted a large plate of fries - my request was not granted) and the tomato soup was just a little warm. The broccoli corners are overpriced at 17 euros. But the ambience is great 👍 great view.

Price and performance don't match here.

We wanted to stop there today for a few beers after a hike, but were told straight away that we needed to eat something. There were four of us there. The store doesn't seem to be using it.

Seldom seen such a dirty place. There's dirt everywhere. Worst in the corners. Endless cobwebs. The Pils didn't taste like Bitburger. We had the impression that a cheap brand was being served at hefty prices.

Nice view and nice service. But overall the food didn't taste good at all, neither the chop (tasted like old fat), nor the fries (dry and hard), salad (watered down), nor the tea (tasted like musty water). Unfortunately not recommended at all. Especially considering the prices are far too high.

Very nice places on the Rur terrace. The waitress (Leah) is very attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The mustard schnitzels are of good quality. You can stop there without hesitation.

The location is so beautiful and is just completely destroyed by the food and cleanliness. My husband and I have been there several times. Highly recommended in the past, I have no idea what happened next. It's great to sit there with a great view from the terrace, but: Ordered steak last time. It was fried to death instead of English as ordered and completely riddled with tendons. I had to let it go back, it wasn't edible. I then had to wait another 20 minutes for the new steak. That was ok, but nothing more. The fries were so crispy that you couldn't tell them apart with a toothpick...so they were completely fried to death. Ok, maybe I caught the wrong day, a few months later we went there again, this time at lunchtime, as there was a large display of coffee and cake in front of the door. We sit down and ask for a cake menu, as only the menu was available. “There isn’t, we have apple strudel, nothing more.” Okaaay, then 2x apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and cream, 1x cocoa, 1x cappuccino. The 2 pieces of apple strudel were completely unequal in size, and I'm not talking about a few mm. While one portion was hand-width, the other was 3 fingers wide. (By the way, it was exactly the same at the next table, where a tour group ordered the whole thing 5 times). Furthermore, the apple strudel was cold (okay, maybe it's a luxury problem, but is it usually served warm?!) and not just room temperature, but refrigerator cold and so hard on the edge that it couldn't be cut through with a fork. There was a tiny dollop of vanilla ice cream and you could just taste it: the apple strudel was really the cheapest frozen product. The cocoa tasted like water, which I complained about. After two other tables had received their cocoa in the meantime, I eventually got a replacement. The machine would have had an error. The cappuccino was also a colored milk-water mixture. And all the fun for 27(!!!) € for a cappuccino, a cocoa and 2 apple strudel. Regarding cleanliness: In the women's toilets, due to the low height, the outside fan in the left toilet is at head height. Ok, that's not a problem, but: The fact that half of the slats were missing or broken and the thing was so dirty and dusty that the air passage was reduced in size by half is a completely different matter. The door on this toilet gets stuck when you pull it and can no longer be locked. If you want to get out again, you have to throw yourself with your shoulder in front of the door, FBI-style. There was paper everywhere on the floor in the anteroom. And: The store wasn't even half full. Some of the service staff stood behind the counter chatting. In that time you could have quickly put away the paper or maybe even cleaned the fan/exhaust. Trees grow out from under the terrace tiles on the outside...they may look nice, but no one seems to mind that the roots are destroying the terrace. And as big as they are, they've been there for years! Yes, it is a winter garden and the trees on the other side of the glass parapet...But: you can unscrew that and remove the trees there...take care of the building...and if you can't do it yourself, there are companies to do that. It's such a shame about the location that it has deteriorated so much, regardless of whether it's visually or food-wise. And if you read the other reviews, unfortunately we are not the only ones who think this way and the bad reviews are increasing. I can't and don't want to understand how someone can be so indifferent to such a beautiful location. In any case, it was the last time we were there.

Fresh waffles were just old and terrible. Never again !!!!

Expensive but good ambience, food: simple, not that much.

I visited with 3 friends to eat apfelstrudel.. it was cold, the dough was not crunchy at we all left half of the strudel. The outside terrace is nice but do Not recommend for strudel! @Owners: please put more passion into the strudel as the price (8 euro’s) is really not worth what you are serving!

The quality and taste of the food was just ok, but definitely not worth the price. Snack quality a la frozen food prepared in old fat, even if the waiter said that parts of the food were freshly prepared in the morning. It wouldn't actually be worth it for me to write a review about food that wasn't good, but for a suitable meal after or during a nice day in Monschau you should look for one of the other restaurants. The terrace was the criterion why we chose the restaurant, but here too there is a need for optimization.

Coffee very thin and tasteless.. Staff was nice

The fact that you have to go out on the balcony with your own dog, even though your own dog is allowed to stay in the restaurant, is surprising and really stupid. The very good service couldn't get rid of that either. Too bad. Food was okay.

An eatery in the middle of Monschau with an indoor and outdoor area on the water. It wasn't very special, but it was nice to eat a plate outside by the water on a quiet day with an occasional ray of sunshine. We had the schnitzel with a sauce, which was served with fries with sauce and a bowl of raw vegetables. The taste of this was very neutral. And the baked camembert with toasted bread, which was actually a starter. The service was very courteous. Toilet facilities are accessible by stairs. The occasion had a real Austria vibe.

Shocking, no service thought, kids want fries, only in combination with main course. Fries would be delivered from another snack bar, waffle warmed up not fresh. The best thing is to order waffles with powdered sugar, the price for waffles with ice cream, cream and fruit will be charged, there would be no other way. The waiter seems unmotivated, unfortunately I didn't see the reviews from other guests beforehand, and the store is not recommended in my opinion.

Outdated place and the women's toilets are not clean

Eating was a disgrace, the “salmon fillet” had bones and was rather watery in taste. You can't rate the steak at all, 1 star is already too much. It was cold, watery and tasted more like frozen water. Not recommended, plus utopian prices! Even the cola tasted stale. McDonald's is a star restaurant in comparison!

Totally reserved and nothing special in terms of taste, on the contrary. The children's plate is an absolute failure. The salad dressing as others have already written, just water with herbs... it's a shame that actually ruined our stay!

The waitress/manager flounced off in a huff because we didnt order enough drinks... So we left. Overworked maybe, stressed out or something but the attitude was, er, awful.

At best, this is just a chip shop with an illustrious name. There was tough schnitzel with fries from a tin bowl like in the prison canteen. The “salad” was covered in sugar water and was past its best. The table wobbled terribly, as the Kölsch was served in 0.4L glasses (sic!) without a beer mat, unfortunately you couldn't help yourself. The waiter couldn't or didn't want to help. Ultimately, far too expensive for what is offered. Avoid at all costs.

Thought we would have a nice cup of coffee with a piece of cake. Received a message that the pastries were finished. The only thing left to get was a waffle. This one was hard and the cherries on it were full of seeds. Coffee was out of the question. Do not recommend this place. Very outdated, just like the rest of the town, which is a shame.

Het eten was prima. Ik had de Lütticher staek met gepofte aardappel met tzatziki. De bediening wel best chaotisch. Konden daardoor niet helemaal genieten van de sfeer. Veel mensen om ons heen met lege glazen. Ik heb ook jammer genoeg maar 1 drankje kunnen bestellen 😞

Im Grunde absolute Touristenfalle. Ambiente nett. Essen untererste Mittelklasse und dahingehend völlig überteuert. Viel zu voll, daher ewiges Warten und vergessene Bestellungen etc. Ich würde nicht wiederkommen.

De bernaise saus was zeker Bernaise saus. De Schnitzel was zeker goed gepaneerd. Lekker mals, niet taai. Ik zou alleen niet de apfelstrudel bestellen.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung, nette Atmosphäre, hatte das Schnitzel mit Monschauer Senfsoße. Hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Salat war etwas wässrig. Die Größe der Portion Pommes (an sich lecker) war aber etwas dürftig. Alles in allem kann man das Lokal aber durchaus weiterempfehlen, und ich komme gerne wieder.

Een paar dagen er tussenuit in Monschau. De eerste avond op zoek naar een leuke gelegenheid om een hapje te eten. Waar we op andere plaatsen werden weggestuurd omdat ze vol zaten (waar de zaak duidelijk maar halfvol zat) kwamen we hier terecht. Uiteindelijk hebben we hier beide avonden gegeten. De oudere man die ons bediende was maar alleen, maar heeft hard gewerkt om iedereen overal van te voorzien. We hebben heerlijk, eenvoudig gegeten en genoten van de authentieke sfeer.

Das Essen war warm und zumindest hygienisch einwandfrei... Das war's aber auch schon. Der Preis war okay, aber ich habe wirklich schon in Pommesbuden deutlich leckerer gegessen. Vielleicht lag es daran, dass wir an einem Dienstag Abend dort waren und generell nicht viel los war.

Es ist der Lütticher Hof und nicht das Restaurant zur schönen Aussicht, es geht hier in erster Linie um's Essen. Aber die Aussicht von der Terrasse direkt auf die Ruhr, die ist schon klasse! Schön war's dort wieder, abends bei milden 20 Grad. Wenn die Markise draußen ist, klingt die Rur auf der Terrasse wie dicker, warmer Sommerregen, nur dass man dabei trocken bleibt. Eine sensationelle Atmosphäre. Das Essen, ist ohnehin über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Immer frisch, immer auf den Punkt zubereitet. Das Schnitzel, in großzügigen Portionen und die Steaks, sind hier immer top, die Senfsauce, ist imho ohnehin die mit Abstand beste in Monschau. Service und Preise = das Senfschnitzel kostet hier zum Beispiel glatt 3,50 € weniger als 400 Meter weiter am historischen Markt..., da zahlt man extra, für die Lage..., stimmen auch. Der Lütticher Hof ist eine der wenigen und schon seit Jahren immer konstant guten Adressen in der Stadt. Wir sind gerade hier im Urlaub und das Mittagessen, wird gleich auch wieder dort eingenommen. Wir freuen uns schon!

L'endroit est sympa et typique. Le plus est de pouvoir s'installer sur la terrasse à l'arrière. Les escalopes étaient bonnes ainsi que la truite nature. La salade baignait dans une sorte de vinaigrette. Les boissons sont servies à l'avance et provenant de grandes bouteilles donc pas trop gazeuses. Le serveur était un peu rustre. La surprise était de payer cash... heureusement que nous avions assez avec nous. Heureusement que les prix des plats ne sont pas exagérés.

Schade das der Kellner so unfreundlich wurde, nachdem ich darauf hingewiesen hatte, das in der Cola keine Kohlensäure ist. Antwort: Die Flasche habe ich gerade geöffnet. Kurz drauf kam er mit einem neuen Glas Cola zurück und knallte - nicht übertrieben - auf den Tisch, mit der Bemerkung, jetzt wäre wohl Kohlensäure im Getränk. Sorry, das geht gar nicht. Ansonsten ok.

Fast jedes Jahr haben wir im Lütticher Hof gegessen (kommen einmal im Jahr von Köln nach Monschau) und waren immer zufrieden. Diesmal ( 19. Sept. 2023) haben wir bei meiner Familie vom Essen geschwärmt, und waren dort zum Mittagessen verabredet. Der Service und das Essen ließen aber sehr zu wünschen übrig. Wir haben uns daher sehr blamiert, und werden uns in Zukunft ein anderes Restaurant aussuchen. PS: die Toiletten waren dreckig und ein Graus.

A pretty little restaurant with a terrace overlooking the river in Monchau. I was walking through the town and I ended up choosing this place because the staff looked friendly and as if they wanted to be there, which in some place does not appear the case. There was a fairly good beer selection, the food was good and the staff, especially Leah, were amazing. Very smiley, attentive and accommodating. She did a very good job and I am sure to visit in the future!

Schön gelegene Terrasse zur Rur, daher deutlich angenehmere Atmosphäre. Beilagensalat zum Schnitzel in "Zwergengröße". Aufmerksame Bedienung.

Wat een tegenvaller, mijn gebakken camembert waren gewoon 2 diepvries gepaneerde schijven die nergens naar smaakte. De salade droop in de azijn, het brood was bah, mijn partner had een varkensvlees filet met kruidenboter, zo droog dat zelfs de kruidenboter hem niet lekker kreeg. €42 lichter en nog nooit ergens zo slecht gegeten.
