Unfortunately, the friendliness of the employees on the phone left a lot to be desired. So much so that I decided not to visit the restaurant.

Quality food, excellent beef tartare, not very welcome waiter

The waitress was gossiping about us and he didn't care at all whether we could hear him. I have never experienced such impudence, simply cheeky and excessive.

We have actually been here multiple times for their wonderful German food and tolerated their less-than friendly service as typical for a locale that is not known for tipping. We took our American friends and the staff's treatment of our group was absolutely embarrassing. From the host to the waiter, the staff were both visibly and VOCALLY impatient with every interaction, even when asked the location of the restroom. The visit culminated in the waiter bringing the check and explaining that tip was not included. He actually checked for a tip when we were leaving and complained when we did not give one (we are used to gratuity in the US and will always tip very generously even in places in Germany where one is not expected). We will not be going back.

Wiener schnitzel with bird’s eye salad at it’s best. As far as Viennese gastronomy is concerned, it's number one for me. Absolutely recommended.

My brother and I arrived at the almost empty restaurant around 10:20 a.m. on April 29th after the opera and were greeted by a not very friendly, prissy waiter. We were used to the unfriendly service from previous visits, but since the food was always good, we put up with it. And like in previous years, we were expecting waiting guests again this time. We were finally served by a nice older lady. I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel and my brother ordered asparagus gnocchi, along with two glasses of Côte du Rhône. The veal schnitzel was dry and like a tough piece of leather. The gnocchi were bland and tasteless despite the truffle... The wine for 13 euros a glass had a slight cork taste and came from an old, musty bottle that had been opened. We expressed our displeasure to the employee. After just saying “it’s all about me,” I paid. Never again! after visiting this once nice restaurant almost every year. Luckily, the opera Norma was phenomenal.

Mein Bruder und ich kamen am 29. April nach der Oper gegen 10.20 Uhr in dem fast leeren Restaurant an und wurden von einem nicht sehr freundlichen, zimperlichen Kellner begrüßt. Von früheren Besuchen her waren wir die unfreundliche Bedienung gewohnt, aber da das Essen immer gut war, haben wir das in Kauf genommen. Und wie in den vergangenen Jahren erwarteten wir auch dieses Mal wieder wartende Gäste. Wir wurden schließlich von einer netten älteren Dame bedient. Ich bestellte ein Wiener Schnitzel und mein Bruder Spargelgnocchi, dazu zwei Gläser Côte du Rhône. Das Kalbsschnitzel war trocken und wie ein zähes Stück Leder. Die Gnocchi waren trotz Trüffel fad und geschmacklos… Der Wein für 13 Euro das Glas hatte einen leichten Korkgeschmack und stammte aus einer alten, muffig angebrochenen Flasche. Wir äußerten unseren Unmut gegenüber der Angestellten. Nachdem ich nur gesagt hatte „es geht nur um mich“, habe ich bezahlt. Nie wieder! nachdem ich dieses einst nette Restaurant fast jedes Jahr besucht habe. Glücklicherweise war die Oper Norma phänomenal.

Tra i tanti ristoranti berlinesi tipici è senz altro il migliore in termini di qualità delle carni, della scelta dei vini e del servizio. Lo spazio interno è molto gradevole specie per chi ama l arte moderna e contemporanea in quanto ricco di bei dipinti.

High prices and very long waiting time. Although the service was good and the food was quite good, it doesn't make up for its weak points. They give priority to the Germans. Not recommended for foreigners.

Food good, prices cheeky! Nowadays, the schnitzel no longer even comes with the side dishes included, but you can pay extra for them for €4.50 per side dish (potato salad, cranberries, cucumber salad, etc.), as if €29.50 wasn't enough. If you're considering sharing a schnitzel, Lutter and Wegner charges €7.50 for putting a second empty plate down - cheeky! The food tastes very good, you can't complain about it, but in my opinion it's disproportionate to the horrendous prices

A restaurant visit to remember. Fantastic asparagus with very good hollandaise sauce. The apfelstrudel for dessert put an end to a fantastic dinner. Nice staff and good service.

En restaurang där vi alltid fått bra wienerschnitzel. Den här gången åt vi sparris med tillbehör och det var mycket bra. Restaurangens egen sekt är mycket god och vi fick ett utmärkt förslag på vin. Servitören var lite speciell men det kunde vi leva med. Vad som gjorde oss förvånade var att när vi bad om notan och skulle betala så hade servitören redan lagt på tio procent på summan i kortmaskinen. Klappat och klart, men jag trodde att det är gästen som bestämmer storleken på dricksen. Vi hade i och för sig lämnat dricks i alla fall men vi vill bestämma storleken på den. Detta hade vi inte förväntat oss på Luther & Wegner.

Beautiful place, much appreciated the fact that they always have an extra menu that follows the seasonality of national products (in my case Asparagus). Very important wine list that covers the whole world, a gem is the selection of Tedeschi GG wines. Definitely worth repeating.

Not worth it, below average quality

Average and overpriced food, rude German waiter that also pretends a tip for poor and condescending service due to us being foreigners.

The worst schnitzel I ever had in Germany. Even a cafeteria overpower this. The thinnest schnitzel and most dry food ever. Nothing next to this. The side order potatoes was totally burned and had to leave. 36 euro waste pr person. 10 euro wather and the most expensive lunch/dinner we had in Berlin. Absolutely not worth a try.

The Lutter & Wegner restaurant apparently only lives by its name. The food was okay, but clearly undersalted and simply too expensive for what was offered. The real low point, however, was the service: the older male staff in particular were characterized by unfriendliness, arrogance and a condescending attitude that you don't have to put up with in a restaurant in this price range. There was neither attentive service nor polite response to queries - you almost had the feeling that you were a nuisance as a guest. The only bright spot was a young, friendly service person who at least acted professionally and attentively. The tip was differentiated accordingly. Unfortunately, overall not an experience that I would like to repeat.

Lutter & Wegner is an institution. A wonderful place full of delights. You feel comfortable from the first moment. The hosts are as professional as they are warm. The atmosphere is as stylish as it is casual. What is served on the plates is the highest quality bistro cuisine: concentrated on the main ingredients, the best products and without any frills. Be it the excellent Wiener Schnitzel, the extremely delicately seasoned Königsberger Klopse or the perfectly cooked asparagus: everything is classy. Even for this gastronomically spoiled corner of Berlin, this restaurant is a culinary oasis. It almost goes without saying that the exquisite wine list can fulfill every wish. Therefore: Never again a stay in Berlin without a visit to Lutter & Wegner!

We had been coming here for many years and were really looking forward to it. The restaurant was half empty and we were given a table right by the door. Since there were other tables available, I politely asked for a table inside. The waiter in charge said that he was reserved from 8 p.m. My husband said that we had enough time. The waiter from above has to be enough. You feel very welcome there. Another waiter couldn't remember our order (2 main courses, 1 water, 1 small beer) or explain the dishes. The food was ok, but nothing special. Not recommended!

So quite pricey but we knew that going in. Food was good. Doors wide open so had to keep my coat on so I felt a bit like I was eating my expensive meal on a station platform. But then the bill arrived. No service included. We put the money in cash inside the leather wallet as normal. I would generally then leave the tip on the table as we leave. A bit more discreet than handing it over. But the waiter came and counted the money out in front of us which was very odd in that type of restaurant. And then he told us the tip wasn't included and waited. I told him I knew that. But he told me again, in case I was a bit thick I suppose. He was rather aggressive. We decided against a tip after all. We emptied out our coins though. Enjoy spending your 2.80 euro tip, maybe invest in an evening class in good manners. Had you waited for the original tip we had planned you could have afforded more than one class. God knows you need them.

Unica nota positiva : la Schnitzel, sempre ottima. Servizio distratto e impreciso. Vino al calice portato direttamente al tavolo ( la bottiglia, chissà…). Chiesta acqua frizzante, servita liscia. Non richiesta la confettura di mirtilli, con la Schnitzel, ma servita comunque. Professionalità zero nel servizio.

Das Restaurant kenne ich seit Jahren und war grundsätzlich zufrieden. Leider ist mittlerweile das Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis in Schieflage gekommen. Das Wiener Schnitzel war extrem platt geschlagen, mit einer dicken Panade versehen und trocken. Geschmacklich tot. Sämtliche zusätzliche Speisen wie Bratkartoffeln oder Kartoffel/ Gurkensalat werden extra aufgeführt und berechnet. Auf diese Art verprellt man Gäste.

Tenía ganas de cenar en un buen Wiener Schnitzel, la milanesa de cerdo de Viena, que es super típico comerlo en Berlín también, y un amigo alemán me ha llevado a este sitio porque tienen incluso un premio en Schnitzels. La verdad es que no he parado de chuparme los dedos, era increíble el sabor. La ensalada de patata deliciosa y para terminar hemos pedido un Kaiserschmarrn que estaba increíble también, contundente, pero como amo el postrer pude comerlo todo. Entre los dos hemos gastado unos 160 euros aprox, con botella de vino y una cena magnifica. Repetiría sin dudarlo. Servicio excelente y buena ubicación. Hemos ido entre semana por al noche sin reserva y había sitio, buena mesa de hecho, pero siempre es mejor reservar.

Berlin restaurant with more than 150 years. I wanted to have dinner with a good Wiener Schnitzel, the pork milanesa from Vienna, which is super typical to eat in Berlin as well, and a German friend took me to this place because they even have a prize for Schnitzels. The truth is that I haven't stopped licking my fingers, the flavor was incredible. The potato salad was delicious and to finish we ordered a Kaiserschmarrn that was also incredible, filling, but since I love dessert I was able to eat it all. Between the two of us we have spent approximately 160 euros, with a bottle of wine and a magnificent dinner. I would repeat without hesitation. Excellent service and good location.

Great location, great ambience. 4 stars for that. Unfortunately, neither the service nor the food preparation can keep up with the exclusive location. The (weak) price-performance ratio is mainly due to the location (2 stars) The snooty nature of the service is only matched by the slowness. Sorry: 1 star for this. The salad was ok, but absolutely nothing special. What shocked me, however, was the veal ragout: it tasted good, it was also heavily tomatoized and caraway. But the meat quality... Some pieces were nicely braised, but half of the meat pieces were hard and chewy. So you really have to work on purchasing or preparing it, it doesn't work that way. Desert delicious. Overall 2-3 points in the food category. Conclusion: just an overpriced tourist restaurant in a prime location.

Were here for the New Year's Eve menu. For the starter and main course you could choose between a fish or a meat dish, and there were also purely vegetarian dishes. Otherwise the menu was set. All courses except dessert were delicious, some with unusual spices. Unfortunately, the dessert was very sweet and you couldn't taste the individual components. The wine we chose was wonderfully chilled. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Since the New Year's Eve menu didn't start until 9 p.m., it fit in very well with our visit to the Berlin Philharmonic's New Year's Eve concert. The room was very nicely decorated and decorated. Unfortunately there were no fireworks displays at Gendarmenmarkt this year due to construction work.

It is a restaurant that is mainly visited by tourists due to its location and is known for its sauerbraten and schnitzel. However, there are many other national dishes. We chose salad as a starter, Berlin-style potato soup and baked black pudding. The prices are high, which is of course to be expected given the location, directly on the Gendarmenmarkt, but also creates a certain expectation of the quality of service and cuisine. On the whole it fits. In order to receive 5 stars, all service staff would have to be trained and always friendly. However, if drinks are brought in hand, glasses are handled incorrectly, and follow-up service for water is not made, then there is still room for training. There is wine in 0.1 liters. sold, but there are no calibrated glasses for it, only 0.2 liters. The potato soup for over €13.00 is a vegetable broth with potato pieces. Our complaint was processed quickly and easily. Soup was canceled and Maultaschen, which were very good, were served instead. It is not obvious to the guests that if you have made a reservation in the Weinhanlung, you still have to register in the main restaurant because the placement takes place from here. Even if it was the holidays, that is no excuse for the service staff to be stretched to their limits and therefore make mistakes. In the 2 hours of our visit, 3 tables complained. The food was otherwise excellent and the portions were mostly reasonable. We enjoyed the evening.

A lovely restaurant for any occasion. We very much enjoyed our pre-concert dinner recently. Our concierge was able to secure a table within an hour as we’d quite forgotten to make reservations. A quick jaunt around the corner and walla … our table was ready waiting for us. It was a fantastic friendly service, wonderful food… all in time for our fabulous Christmas concert.

Onze eerste avond in Berlijn , dit restaurant uitgekozen. Mede vanwege het principe ‘stemmen met de voeten’. De redelijke drukte die we zagen doet vermoeden dat het een goed restaurant is. Beperkte kaart met prima gerechten. We kozen voor sauerbraten en een kalfslevergerecht. Beide smaakten goed, even als het dessert apfulstrudel met vanillesaus. De prijs was inderdaad aan de enigszins forse kant. Maar de vriendelijke bediening maakte het goed.

Dreadful rude service. We had to wait 20 minutes after being seated to be acknowledged then wait further order drinks and food. It took 30 minutes for starter to arrive main course arrived before starter finished and was left at the table! Had to request main courses were taken back to the kitchen. After finishing starters had to wait a further 30 mins for mains to be returned. Both dushes were incomplete. No apologies no explanation offered. Average food awful service. Do not recommend.

A table for six people was reserved for a nice Christmas dinner with friends and then, despite the reservation, we were placed at a table that could comfortably accommodate a maximum of four people. Service not very warm and not at all appropriate to the standards of the hotel. Duck very good. Cheese plate boring and no discussion whatsoever about what types of cheese were served. Brilliant place - delicious schnitzel! The only shame is you are not allowed to have tap water. We paid ~10 euros for bottled water from Italy - a massive waste of carbon and not as tasty as Berlin tap water

This is a casual but elegant restaurant off Friedrichstrasse. Friendly, helpful staff. The service was a bit slow, but we were not in a hurry. The food was tasty and well-presented. There is a wine tasting and sales section to the restaurant, so they have a very nice array of German and foreign wines.

Has been based on Gendarmenmarkt for a long time. At least the upscale gastronomy on Gendarmenmarkt survived, which makes what has become of the neighborhood all the sadder. Lutter & Wegner is one of the institutions in Berlin.

Nach einem schönen Konzertbesuch wollten meine schwangere Frau und ich noch etwas trinken gehen. Auf der Karte haben wir gesehen, dass es auch Sekt mi 0,0 Alkohol gabt. Ein paar Tisch waren frei, manche reserviert. Wir würden sehr unhöflich for die Tier befördert. Einmal und nie wieder.

Every time we are in Berlin, we definitely visit this venerable, historically and architecturally exceptional restaurant. Here, great value is placed on tradition, a cultivated ambience and excellent, home-style cuisine with seasonal highlights. The wine list is as extensive as it is put together at the highest level; There is something for every palate here. Despite the hustle and bustle of the city, the service team is very friendly and attentive and concerned about the guests' well-being. The ambience and furnishings of the restaurant are of a high standard (there is always a nice setting, even outside, etc.), but it is also quite relaxed and warm-hearted. Definitely highly recommended and a classic for every visit to Berlin.

Good food (although expensive) but poor service. This was our second time at this restaurant, this time for a birthday, and both times the food was delivered with unwanted extras (plastic fragments and hair). When we pointed this out to the waiter, a new dish was delivered after repeated requests. The bill was brought along with all the food, and after we asked whether the food with hair could be omitted, we received a callous “sorry” from the head waiter, coupled with a lecture that also included a comparison to buying shoes, and that to us gave the feeling that we should count ourselves lucky that a new dish had been brought. The service is unacceptable for a restaurant of this class, especially when you politely point out the problems to the waiters at the beginning and get nothing in return except a disrespectful lesson.

Wonderful restaurant with a long storied history located right at the back of the former Schauspielhaus by Schinkel (now Konzerthaus Berlin). My Sauerbraten was perfect. The restaurant is airy and nicely decorated with modern artworks. The service is friendly and efficient.

I had an alright time here. The food is was good but I definitely wouldn't say it is the best snitzel outside of Vienna. I can't say anything particularly stood out with this restaurant, I would just say it's average, especially for the price.

Not sure what went wrong here but several dishes across the menu were poorly prepared from the tough slices of beef in the SAUERBRATEN, the dry and overly breaded SCHNITZEL and lastly the salty Risotto, if wine bottles of 11K are on your wine list then you must deliver food quality EVERY time.

We spontaneously went there for dinner in the early evening. Luckily, we got a nice little table. Everything was perfect, the food and wine were great. The waitress was very nice and even though she was really busy, she always kept an eye on us.

El restaurante se ve muy elegante y está en una buena parte de la ciudad. Nos sentamos pronto. Ahí es donde termina lo bueno. Después de que pedimos nuestra comida llegó sospechosamente rápido (en 2 minutos) y el pedido estaba mal. Fue reemplazado igualmente rápido. El schnitzel estaba seco y no estaba muy caliente, mi carne también estaba tibia aunque sabía bien. El precio era demasiado alto para la calidad de la comida.

I ate at this restaurant in February of 2020, just before the pandemic hit. At the recommendation of the person at the next table, I tried the schnitzel and it was very good. The wine selection was excellent and my waitress made very good recommendations for what wines to have with my main course as well as the dessert course. For dessert, I had a cheese plate. Service was prompt and unobtrusive, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. I look forward to trying the restaurant again on a return trip.

Upscale traditional German restaurant with renowned schnitzel that had a amazing crust and was not greasy. Service was attentive but not intrusive. It's a little pricey but the quality justifies it.

I have never experienced such unfriendly and impolite service. We waited a good hour for the drinks, around 1.5 hours for the starter and over 2 hours for the main course. When we arrived at 7pm it was pretty empty, then it filled up and all the other tables were served before us, that's just cheeky. Of course there were hardly any tips anymore and the waitress was “irritated”.

The visit to the restaurant left a lasting negative impression. As soon as we took our seats, we were literally harassed with requests for drinks - a start that was more reminiscent of a fast food restaurant than of a relaxed evening in a restaurant. The bread basket for 2.50 euros was an imposition: five thin, dry slices of baguette from the day before, which wouldn't attract a duck, accompanied by an inconspicuous piece of butter. What was particularly annoying was the long waiting time of over an hour between the starter and the main course, while guests who arrived later were already being served. Although the Wiener Schnitzel lived up to expectations and the potato and cucumber salad is worth mentioning, that's of little use given the excessively narrow seating and the wet, arrogant staff. A visit that neither invites you to come back nor to recommend it to others.

Der Restaurantbesuch hinterließ einen nachhaltig negativen Eindruck. Bereits während des Platznehmens wurde man regelrecht mit Getränkewünschen bedrängt – ein Auftakt, der eher an einen Schnellimbiss erinnert als an einen entspannten Restaurantabend. Der Brotkorb für 2,50 Euro war eine Zumutung: fünf dünne, trockene Scheiben Baguette vom Vortag, die keine Ente anlocken würden, begleitet von einem unscheinbaren Stück Butter. Besonders ärgerlich war die lange Wartezeit von über einer Stunde zwischen Vorspeise und Hauptgang, während später eingetroffene Gäste bereits bedient wurden. Zwar entsprach das Wiener Schnitzel den Erwartungen und der Kartoffel-Gurkensalat ist erwähnenswert, doch das nützt wenig angesichts der übermäßigen Enge der Bestuhlung und des nassforsch-arroganten Personals. Ein Besuch, der weder zum Wiederkommen noch zur Weiterempfehlung einlädt.

Die Ambiente ist nett und die Bedienung relativ aufmerksam. Jedoch haben wir den berühmten Sauerrahmbraten bestellt, welches wir leider aufgrund des zähen und durchgekochten Fleisches zurück gehen lassen mussten. Das Schnitzel, 27 Euro, kam fast kalt und auch etwas zäh auf den Tisch und für Preisselbeeren und Kartoffel-/ Gurkensalat kamen 2 und 4,50 Euro dazu. Auch das einfache Brot wird zusätzlich berechnet.

The Christmas hut is a complete disgrace. We had our Christmas party there last year and it was a disaster despite reservations. We were relegated to 2 beer tables, crowded together. We didn't have any space and couldn't have a conversation because of the volume. Staff arrogantly unfriendly and the food below average. Everything was slapped down carelessly. NEVER AGAIN
