Lubitsch in Berlin

Absolutely recommended. This is how the combination of German-French-Austrian cuisine works. Very fine ambience, clean (including sanitary) and attentive service. The Wiener Schnitzel, better than some in Vienna. The only flaw...the wine glasses could be improved.

Charlottenburg has countless really good restaurants. Some are a little more special, i.e. above the already high Charlottenburg average. The Lubitsch is definitely one of them. I was at a closed event where you could eat your way through the entire menu and I have to say: really good. The desserts are particularly good. Interesting German wines, a very good (red) cuvée from Schneider, also a great Pinot Gris. Service was very nice, you don't get that often in Berlin restaurants. The menu was in English, which is a guarantee that you won't meet Jens Spahn here. - So: If you want to have a nice evening in a very good Charlottenburg restaurant, this is the right place. Also the one who just wants to drink a good wine or try the delicious desserts. The other dishes are also good, but the wines and desserts clearly stand out. Clear 5 stars and a streak-free recommendation.

I’m an little heartbroken; this used to be our “last night in Berlin” favorite special restaurant. But apparently American dinners are not welcome here anymore and the quality of the food has really dropped. Despite having made a reservation months ago, we were given a terrible table (even those walking in without a reservation were seated at nicer tables). The pumpkin soup lacked flavor and was too thin. The Wiener schnitzel was dry and had a soapy aftertaste. Service was indifferent. Don’t bother unless you’re a regular (and maybe they would have taken more care with the meal).

This place is a horror for the residents, so we cannot recommend the store in principle. Always too loud, even during the week, screaming guests terrorize all the surrounding apartments. A clear NO to this store, a workforce that doesn't have your store under control. All the neighbors hate this store.

Excellent restaurant! Also suitable for groups and business dinners. The pumpkin cream and the Viennese shnitzel are exquisite, which I recommend sharing because it is very large. The desserts are also excellent. I paid 40 euros including tip and drinks. Very recommended!

The reason to make a stop over in Berlin was to pick up my daughter after a week-long writing course and bring her to Copenhagen. I chose this venerable Berliner restaurant since it was midway between her air B&B and my hotel and also since their menu suited our taste, ox cheek for me and pike perch for Olivia. Cooking was perfect and service by our French, perfectly German speaking waiter was impeccable. The wine lists is particularly rich in various wines by the glass. As usual when in Germany we drank local, a Grauburgunder for Olivia and a Spätburgunder for me, both of good quality. Overall good value for money. Highly recommended!

Sorry but the food and service just wasn't good...the waiter simply tipped himself. That's just not possible!

Great traditional food with excellent service. Relaxed atmosphere and excellent staff made this such a memorable occasion that we returned 2 nights later.

Heute spontan mit einer Freundin eine Kleinigkeit dort essen gewesen! Eigentlich habe ich es immer in sehr guter Erinnerung gehabt und war dort immer sehr zufrieden. Heute fand ich tatsächlich, dass das Essen eine absolute Enttäuschung war. Nur einige Gäste um 15 Uhr dort - es hat ewig gedauert - "Cerviche" absolut geschmacksneutral wie nur mit Limettensaft übergossen, mache ich selbst um Welten besser (zum Glück - ist ja auch kein Hexenwerk), das Personal - ich weiss nicht, hoffe mal, dass ich es heute nur schlecht angetroffen habe, es fehlte mir einfach an allem, weiß nicht, ob ich noch mal einen Versuch mache, dafür war es zu teuer- um enttäuscht zu sein! Schade, ich fand, dass die das mal richtig gut dort gemacht haben! Sabine

Good, solid cuisine, but not exceptional. Friendly service staff.

I've been there several times now. 2016, 2018 and now 2024 even twice. As always, I was impressed with the service and the quality of the food. This year I particularly enjoyed the Franconian asparagus salad with pea sorbet, Frankfurt green sauce and radishes, as well as roasted cauliflower on the second visit with carrot sesame sauce and pea mousseline. But everything else was fine too. The selection of drinks is also very good. Gladly again and again!

Zuhause bei Freunden mit Freunden. Sehr gutes Essen: Blumenkohl als Vorspeise neu interpretiert und ein perfektes Schnitzel mit feinem Kartoffelsalat. Steak wurde auch verzehrt und Spargel. Besser geht nicht. Preis mehr als angemessen. Service sehr zuvorkommend und Atmosphäre edel entspannt. Fazit: weitere Besuche sind ein Muss! Danke.

Greeted by a very friendly waiter, food was impeccable and full of flavour. The Tuna and duck salad were highlights. Some brilliant German wines available that are worth trying. It is busy during peak times so worth booking ahead.

Dans un quartier très sympathique de l'ex Berlin-Ouest (en quelque sorte le quartier de la contre-escarpe à Paris), un restaurant calme et très agréable. Service attentionné et rapide. La salade de pommes de terre est à tomber et la wiener schnitzel imposante est en réalité légère comme une plume. Vins et plats, tout est excellent.

Even as an 18-year-old, I appreciated the ambience of such bistro's. I felt it was something special to be in such an atmosphere just to have a café, simply because it gave the feeling that you were there with the older people and that, like them, you also had something to "say" and have a say . Unfortunately, at the time I was looking for a place in the LUBITSCH, it was very full, so I had to give up my plan to be a guest. But I will definitely come back just because of the very stimulating impression. Even without having consumed anything there, I would happily give it 3 stars for the good feeling I had when I was there!

The Lubitsch was recommended when visiting Berlin - a very good tip. Everything was right all around. I had the flamed goat's cheese as a starter, and the main course was steak, which was fried to perfection and to order. Gladly again…

Great food in a super nice atmosphere. My absolute tip: the best Tafelspitz in the city. From veal with crunchy bouillon vegetables and lots of horseradish. Only the atmosphere is a bit musty. But not the great people who really manage the shop in a relaxed, family-like manner... and give you a classic, quick and super friendly welcome.

I enjoyed Lubitsch in 2018, and will return in April. Any cafe named for Ernst Lubitsch has to be good. I’m looking forward to my visit this spring.

The Lubitsch offers gastronomy worthy of a capital city. And yet it is so rare to find. The ambience has a pleasant Parisian style, the service is friendly, knowledgeable and understands the craft. Every handout is suitable and you simply feel welcome and well looked after. The menu is manageable, which I very much welcome. Every arrangement on the plate is perfect, the quality is excellent and from the oysters to the beef fillet, the dishes are prepared almost perfectly. Even dishes I hated as children are delicious at Lubitsch: I couldn't imagine ever eating eggs in mustard sauce again. Now they're just part of it. Briefly about the wine list: A very good selection. Even between 30 and 40 euros a bottle there are many very drinkable wines. Of course the price is also higher. Red wines can be decanted at the table - upon request.

Nice atmosphere, good food. But the prices have been extremely high since 2024. Not only the food, but especially the drinks are extremely expensive.

Königsberger meatballs are average at best, the sauce is sober; somehow none of the dishes really get off the ground, the tartare is watery, the goat cheese salad is far too sweet, it's a shame because everything is well thought out and presented, but just not well done. Prices are clearly too high for what is on offer

Yesterday we had an unforgettable birthday evening as guests of my best friend and his wife. To put it briefly, the food was excellent, the service was courteous, charming, extremely friendly and professional! The ambience is dignified, not pretentious and just to my taste. We are already looking forward to the next time!

Had a terribly sad goose dinner with our children. Inattentive service, a lot on the cell phone, snippy and a bit stubborn when there was little criticism after the meal about the cleanliness of the chairs and benches...maybe the replacement team? A really stupid experience on the Sunday before Christmas. But the worst thing was the lukewarm, not crispy goose with rubber skin and 3 very small, very old potatoes with many, many eyes that slid around on the plate without orientation... they were deliberately taken to Lubitsch because they had already experienced something different there. .. The price for the meal, which we unfortunately ordered 4 times, was horrendous... NEVER AGAIN LUBITSCH. (I would have liked to not give a star, unfortunately this is not technically possible)

The most beautiful restaurant! We were there for our wedding dinner 5 years ago and ate there again just before Christmas. The combination of food, ambience, service and class no longer feels like it exists in Berlin.

Sehr gut, netter Service, schönes Ambiente, tolle Küchenzeiten - nur drei kleine Schönheitsfehler: Im Eingangsbereich trotz Vorhang leicht zugig und fußkalt, Consommé mit Flädle war gut, aber keine Offenbarung (bei dem Preis hätte ich mehr erwartet), und das eigentliche "Problem": Vergleichsweise teuer. Limonade 9 EUR, Suppe 14,50 EUR, Königsberger Klopse 23,50 EUR. Die waren aber sehr lecker.

Wir sind zufällig hier gelandet, werden allerdings nochmal wiederkommen. Der Service ist sehr bemüht und wirklich aufmerksam - das Essen passt auch dazu. Die Atmosphäre ist unaufgeregt ruhig und sehr angenehm.

Die Schnitzel, gross, saftig, hauchdünn und knusprig so wie es sein soll. Der Fisch ganz exzellent. Zum Nachrisch Käse von Fritz Blohmeyer. Das Restaurant immer eine gute Wahl! Wer früh am Abend kommt hat meist Glück noch einen freien Tisch zu bekommen. Ab 7 und danach sollte man besser reservieren, denn der Laden ist immer voll! Das Restaurant ist gut. Gemütlich und hochwertig eingerichtet. Die Speisen- und Getränkeauswahl ist saisonal angelehnt und solide ohne viel Schnickschnack. Würde ich so bedenkenlos weiter empfehlen👍…

Das Essen war lecker, ich hatte das Schnitzel und bei mir waren im Kartoffelsalat allerdings noch halbrohe Kartoffelstückchen drin. Ansonsten sehr solides Essen. Der Grund für den einen Stern ist, dass ich als schwangere Person einen alkoholfreien Gin Tonic bestellt habe, aber einen normalen Gin Tonic mit Alkohol bekommen habe. Ich finde es super, dass das Lubitsch, nicht nur für Schwangere, sondern auch für andere, die keinen Alkohol trinken möchten, eine sehr sehr tolle Alternativkarte hat. Es geht aber WIRKLICH GAR NICHT, dass man dann Alkohol bekommt. Zum Glück, habe ich es noch gemerkt nach dem zweiten Schluck. Das ist jetzt bei mir Schwangeren zwar ärgerlich, aber kein Weltuntergang. Jedoch will ich mir nicht ausmalen, wie es zB für einen trockenen Alkoholiker sein mag... Leider bekam ich keinen Service Ausgleich dafür. Zwar entschuldigte man sich, aber dafür hätte man mir ruhig den 0,0 Gin Tonic aufs Haus geben können, mindestens. Der Grund für die falsche Lieferung des Getränks war, dass auf dem Bon, das alkoholfrei erst am Ende steht, und somit im Stress von der Barperson nicht gelesen wird. Ich bewerte euch wirklich ungern so schlecht, aber bitte ändert umgehend euren Bonierungstext, und schreibt vor jedem alkoholfreien Getränk zunächst "Alkoholfrei", damit sowas nie wieder passiert.

La comida bastante buena pero muy lentos. Tardaron más de hora y media en darnos de comer !! Y a la hora de pagar nos obligaron a pagar propina. 5 ó 10 por ciento !! Eso debería ser voluntario ... nosotros no volveremos.

Schönes Ambiente - man kann drinnen und draußen sitzen - aufmerksamer Service- sehr gutes Essen- gute Weine. Wir kommen regelmäßig hierher und lassen uns kulinarisch verwöhnen. Auch für Vegetarier geeignet

Gut gelegen, gut gegessen, sympathisches, aufmerksames Personal

Wir haben uns aufgrund mündlicher Empfehlungen dazu entschieden, einen für uns besonderen Tag im Lubitsch ausklingen zu lassen. Sowohl der Service als auch das Essen waren außergewöhnlich gut. Wir freuen uns, hier bald wieder zu essen.

I was with my parents and sister for dinner at your restaurant. Unfortunately, we couldn't try your meatballs and other items on the menu. After making a long choice (we are not from Germany and didn't really know what to choose) we got our ride after about an hour. The food was very average and not worth the money. I would like to add that my dad wanted to eat meatballs at your place but he couldn't get them due to their lack in your restaurant, so he asked the waitress for help in choosing a dish, but we did not find a solution. I would like to thank you for your service :)

Ich bin Zeit 6 Gast im Restaurant . Am Anfang war es eine sehr gute Adresse . Wenn ich gut essen sehr schön sitzt und gut unterhalten wollte . Aber leider Zeit letzte Jahr kann man nur noch gut Sitzt das Essen ist eine Katastrophe und das neue Personal ist sehr überheblich ! Schade ich suche mir einen neun Lieblings Platz .

Wir waren zu 7. im lubitsch essen und 4 von uns essen vegan. Auf vorherige Nachfrage wurde uns versichert, dass die Küche auch etwas veganes kochen kann. Als wir dann da waren musste wir über 1 stunde auf die Vorspeise warten, ein Salat mit Pfifferlingen für 18€, sehr überteuert für das bisschen was wir bekommen haben. Nach insgesamt 2,5 stunden kam dann der Hauptgang. Das vegane Gericht war eine kulinarische Frechheit und bestand aus noch sehr hartem und schlecht gewürzten Blumenkohl und ein bisschen Erbsenpüree. Ich habe lange nicht mehr so etwas schlechtes gegessen und dann auch noch für 20€ pro veganes Gericht. Die anderen Gerichte fanden die nicht Veganer von uns gut und auch das Personal war größtenteils freundlich. Nach 3 Stunden haben wir als Entschuldigung für die lange Wartezeit gratis Dessert bekommen, was jedoch eher für 2 Personen und nicht für 7 gewesen wäre. Und auch auf das haben wir nochmal 30 minuten gewartet, obwohl wir eigentlich los wollten. Außerdem haben wir durch die lange Wartezeit so viele Getränke bestellen müssen, damit hatten sie das Geld für das bisschen Dessert locker wieder raus... Wir werden hier nicht mehr essen gehen, für das Geld ist es uns das wirklich nicht wert.
