LOU Restaurant - The Finest Asian Kitchen & Sushi Dessau in Dessau-Roßlau

This hungry traveller went for dinner to Lou’s with colleagues after an exhausting work week away from home. Working away from home has a tendency to steer you to heavy bar food and we were eager for a change and found it at Lou’s. Two of us had vegetarian dishes, one a sushi plate. The first two dishes wer lauded by their consumers. The sushi dish, eaten by this traveller, will receive a bit more detail: it was sublime. It featured inside-out rolls and regular sushi and was clearly the best sushi this traveller has eaten outside of Japan. It was fresh (of course), incredibly tasty, the wasabi had real bite and the ginger, fresh and thinly sliced, was also excellent. Combine this with brand-name soy sauce and you had a winner. Supremely, some of the inside-out rolls featured crunchy content - a bliss. On top of this, it was moderately priced and service was excellent. What else can one ask for?

Sehr köstliches Essen. Ausgezeichneter Service, Kellner sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich, kamen uns in vielen Punkten sehr entgegen. In verhältnismäßig (für eine Abendessensituation) kurzer Zeit unser Abendessen erhalten. Alles ging recht schnell und war frisch gekocht und warm sowie sehr köstlich. Der Schokokuchen innen noch flüssig und eine wahre Delikatesse. Der Tee mit frischen Zutaten aufgebrüht. Jederzeit wieder.

Established Asian restaurant with a manageable menu and an upscale ambience. Service is quick, friendly and nice. Price level is completely okay, presentation/arrangement of the food on the plates is excellent, the taste is ok.

Das man aus dem Erdgeschoss eines Kaufhauses (Eröffnung 1908, bis 1945 „Kaufhaus Zeeck“, in der DDR „Kaufhaus Magnet“) ein gelungen eingerichtetes, asiatisches Restaurant machen kann, hat das „LOU“ bewiesen. Die geschickt installierte, herunterhängende Decke und die halboffene Küche strahlen Gastlichkeit und Modernität zugleich aus. Die reich bebilderte Speisekarte avisiert Frische und Vielfalt. Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Softdrinks und Wasser (keine Flaschen) gibt es erst ab 0,4 l, was etwas keck ist, denn Größe und Gewinnmarge gehen bekannter Weise Hand in Hand. Das Essen, ein „Shaking-Beef“ für 16,50 € (Rind mit Gemüse und Reis) kam nach 15 Minuten, so wie in der Karte offeriert, zudem schmackhaft und gut gewürzt. Einzig das Verhältnis Fleisch vs. Gemüse muss wegen der Gemüselastigkeit etwas nachdenklich machen. Die Gastbarkeit war (zu Recht) gut besucht, trotz der Tatsache, dass sie in einem höheren Preissegment liegt.

Very good food, nice service and the area for the children is really great. Something like this is far too rare in Dessau and the thought is really nice. It is very lovingly furnished. We liked it very much.

Large Asian restaurant that caught our eye for lunch due to its very good reviews. As expected, the Thai duck was well presented and tasty. Service was professional friendly. However, the restaurant and its employees definitely lack an eye for detail. Soy sauce was spilled on the table offered to us and also spread on the glass coasters, which didn't stop the service from placing the beer we had ordered on it. The map was the next phenomenon. A partially torn loose-leaf collection of color prints that had become wavy due to moisture, describing the dishes through photos rather than text. Strange. Overall, we were full and prices were acceptable. Oh yes, card payments only from €70. Yes, you read that right. Anyone who writes something like this as a restaurateur in 2024 definitely wants to see cash. Everyone can think of their own reasons. The current rating of 4.6 is definitely not understandable. Maximum 4 stars from our experience. Still not a recommendation.

It's okay! Service very friendly.

We were there for the first time because we wanted to treat ourselves to something nice and Lou is praised so highly. The staff was very friendly and the place looked fantastic. My drink was delicious and the food was ok too. Unfortunately, I'm a little disappointed because I was hoping for a little more for the price. The sushi was relatively small and a lot fell apart very quickly for the price. My summer roll, its rice paper, was still relatively firm in some places and the dip was enough for one (or don't be so greedy next time :D). Overall it was nice there, but unfortunately we wouldn't visit the restaurant again given the price-performance ratio.

Huge restaurant, we sat outside for lunch, only a few guests were there. Very good and attentive service, food is excellent and came surprisingly quickly - of course with so few diners, the kitchen probably didn't have much to do.

Service and ambience great! However, I didn't find the sushi that convincing. Prepared excellently, but the sashimi had not yet thawed properly. I would have expected more in terms of taste for the price. Still a solid dinner.

Very nicely decorated with lots of wood and light, the food especially the sushi is great and the service is always on hand. On the other hand, the prices are a bit higher overall.

Were at the LOU today. The food and service was very good as always. But when I paid I was astonished. Card payment for less than €70 was not possible. (we still had a voucher) and without warning. An absolute no-go for me whoever thinks evil about it.

Very tasty food and very friendly staff. For a good price we got a delicious dinner with a starter, main course and dessert for around €25 per person. All dishes and drinks were delicious and fresh. The restaurant is modern and everything was very clean!

It wasn't our first time here and we've always been very satisfied. Nothing was right today. The soup bowl was not even half full and only lukewarm. The sauce for the summer rolls was very little. Wasabi and ginger for sushi were only available upon request and here too the quantity was insufficient. Next time we'll go back to the restaurant opposite :-(

Mango salad without mango, the vegetable showed that it had been cut quite a while ago. Card payment is only possible from an arbitrarily set amount (sometimes €60, sometimes €75). Service was partly very arrogant.

The food is super tasty and the staff is super nice and always come to you and ask if you would like anything else. You can just feel comfortable here and we really enjoy coming here!

Unfortunately, this visit was rather disappointing. When you ordered, an appetizer was forgotten to be included and something ordered as an appetizer was brought too late. The preparation of the food had definitely been seen with more love. The pale duck didn't necessarily entice you to eat it. The French music, which we found to be too loud, had no positive effect. It's nice that such a great ambience has been created, but the service and the dishes have to match the taste and appearance of the requirements and prices.

I am really particularly impressed by the incredibly lovely and nice waitresses and waitresses. The food was great, all in all really great! But good service is half the battle and in our case, even the whole thing. Thank you very much for that and see you soon, I'll definitely be back! 🥳

Optisch sehr schönes Restaurant. Karte ansprechend. Service war sehr gut und zuvorkommend. Unser Essen war wirklich klasse (weit weg vom Klischee-China Restaurant). Kein klarer Focus auf eine Landesküche. Ich denke eher eine Auswahl aus Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan. … Sushi sah gut aus, haben wir aber nicht probiert. Preis Leistung passt.

From the moment I walked in the door, I was informed that if I didn't spend less than 70 euros, I couldn't pay by card. It's not about spending money, but about culture. But I leave my earlier opinion below. I'm so sorry. "Saturday. I called at 5 p.m. and they already had a table at 7:30 p.m. The new place is next to the old one. More seats. More staff. A lot of people. The order was placed in 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the food was already served. Even the drinks weren't delivered and we already... "Beautiful. Very dynamic service. Just look at the photos. First class. The only minus is the payment by card from 70 Euro for 2 dishes, one drink and a juice. The price is very high."

We ate a sushi platter there. Was very tasty and fresh. We came in a larger group and a solution was found.

We were traveling through in a motorhome and wanted to go out for Asian food. Visited this restaurant. Friendly welcome. Very nice atmosphere. Our little dog was immediately given a water bowl without being asked (attentive by the staff). Very good selection of food and drinks. It is the finer Asian cuisine. We were thrilled. We love this restaurant. Food is simply great. But why are card payments only available from 70 euros? Why? That in today's time. There were 6 of us eating and drinking for almost 350 euros. There was nothing but thanks, as you know from other restaurants. That's a bit disappointing. There is a deduction for this and card payments.

It's very nice and big inside. Sitting in the middle aisle isn't quite as comfortable. There's always a lot of activity happening. Everyone is very friendly and attentive. The food is prepared very tasty. It is beautifully presented on the plate and tastes great. We couldn't reserve a table because too many people had already pre-ordered. But there were still places available for two people on site. Highly recommended, again at any time, even if it is a bit price intensive. It's worth it!

After the Lou's conversion, it's even bigger and more stylish. Great ambience. Super nice service. A look into the kitchen from the square leaves special impressions. Delicious drinks - but the food is an absolute highlight. Be it sushi or something else. Great quality and really fresh. As is well known, the eye also eats. 🙂👌🏻 But the desserts also promise a lot 😌 A small children's paradise allows parents to eat with peace of mind and enjoy the evening. From 0-7 with warm carpets and giant blackboards through to climbing and play equipment, the child's well-being is the top priority. In addition, small children cannot run out in crawling mode. It is highly recommended!!

Great cozy restaurant, value for money is also great. Had dinner with 8 people and everyone enjoyed it and enjoyed it. We particularly liked the children's area. This is designed as a separate area so that the children can play alone without running through the entire restaurant.

Super delicious food. Very authentic. The mango salad is delicious. And the udon noodles with salmon were also great. The coconut milk-mango-raspberry shake was a great way to end the meal. Service seemed a little overwhelmed at times, but it was also very busy.

Great restaurant and fantastic food. BUT all of the sushi is NOT gluten-free and is incorrectly declared on the menu (it shows it as gluten-free - but it does contain gluten). Unfortunately, rice vinegar contains gluten, which is used to season the rice during preparation.

As a funeral party, we booked more seats on the weekend than there were ultimately guests present. That's why a waiter complained to us several times in a rude manner. We then had to wait about 1.5 hours for our food (other guests came about 30 minutes after we ordered and had already paid their bill before we got our food). Absolutely unprofessional! Card payments are only possible from €70, which is simply not up to date. And the 5% discount granted in advance for cash payment was ultimately not deducted. There were no longer any proper chopsticks for all the guests. The ambience and food look good, but the service was poor. Apart from the sudden onset of diarrhea after eating by several guests, we didn't feel well here.

First time here, heard and read a lot of positive things. As a creature of habit, Asian cuisine is still foreign to me. "What the farmer doesn't know, he doesn't eat." A big birthday for his best friend should change this. Reserved in advance, which is essential for a weekend visit. Because it's packed. Nevertheless, the service seems to be structured. The young, friendly staff are determined without seeming stressed. Of course there was a wait. But a reason to travel back, because old Dessau residents know this building as a department store. The staircase appears well lit as an eye-catcher, still a prime example of past childhood memories. Unlike other Asian restaurants, there is no train station atmosphere in large, coldly lit rooms. The waiting time mentioned was worth it, because after a long search and weighing up my own inexperienced taste, I chose the mango curry. My first real Asian meal and of course I was surprised. Was delicious. And I'll be back.

It is a very nice and tastefully decorated restaurant. I would describe the dishes as Asian fusion cuisine. We enjoyed it very much; all dishes were delicious. The food was cheap for the quality; the staff was very friendly, but sometimes a bit disoriented. We were very satisfied and would come back at any time. Eine Deutsche Mitarbeiterin dort hat meine Verabredung angebaggert. Sie teilte dem Kunden also meiner Verabredung auch mit, es wäre doch besser er würde ihr das Trinkgeld an einem anderen Ort z.B. auf der Straße geben damit sie es nicht teilen müsse denn sonts hätte sie nichts davon. Sie war unglaublich anhänglich, das ist das dritte mal dass das mit dieser Frau passiert ist und ich kenne sogar andere Leute bei denen sie genau das gleiche gemacht hat. Mir bleibt aufgrund dessen nichts übrig als das Restaurant zu wechseln. Das ist das unprofessionelste Verhalten das ich jemals erlebt habe.
