LOU Restaurant - The Finest Asian Kitchen & Sushi Dessau in Dessau-Roßlau

I ordered three different sushi sets to go from LOU on May 17, 2025. Two of them—Hot Salmon Roll and Nigiri Unagi—were fine, but the 104th rainbow roll was an absolute disaster. The condition of these rainbow rolls was not only unappetizing, but also worrying. The ingredients looked old, gray, and unloved, the fish had a strange odor, and the crab sticks were broken and inedible. I only tried a small piece of the crab stick—completely tasteless. I immediately discarded the rest for safety reasons. I emailed the restaurant twice—with a photo and receipt—but never received a response. As a customer, I expect at least a response or an apology. Instead, I was completely ignored. This is not how you treat guests. I will not be visiting this restaurant again.

It's exactly as the people before me described. The service is always friendly. The food is delicious...all in all, highly recommended.

A truly elegant, large, and beautiful restaurant. The sushi is especially worth coming here; there's a huge selection and very friendly waitresses. There's even a children's play area. The restaurant has a very classy and luxurious feel, and it's very spacious. It can get loud at times, so if you're looking for a cozy place to chat, this is probably not the place for you. ✨

A restaurant with a higher price range. The ambience is great. Recommended for many guests. The service is first class.

Were very surprised. The furnishings are really high quality and modern, everything in gold and black. Reminds me a bit of Harry Potter. Tables all made of wood and very comfortable chairs. We had reserved and were able to choose our seats. We recommend the Vietnamese coffee and iced coffee. Really too good! Also the homemade iced teas. There are lots of starters and they hit the spot. Also sushi. There are also enough main courses available, always with a selection of chicken, shrimp, tofu or similar. Desserts are also recommended. Service all around was also good and the employees were very friendly. Recommended.

Large selection of Asian cuisine. Probably the best restaurant in Dessau. Nice service and nice decor. Prices are affordable, but not cheap. Everything tasty, good sushi. A nice customer of the place makes someone feel extremely comfortable here. Price/quality ratio 4/5. It's worth coming and seeing for yourself. I recommend.

We really liked the restaurant. The food was great (starter soup sour, main course: Niyom Thai with duck breast, dessert: sesame balls) and the service was very friendly and attentive.

We recently went to Restaurant Lou in Dessau and overall had a very nice experience. The service was extremely friendly and attentive – we felt welcome from the start. The atmosphere at Lou is great: stylish, cozy and modern. A little note for first-time visitors: Due to a current construction site, finding the restaurant is a bit confusing and we almost accidentally ended up in the Chinese restaurant opposite. So be sure to take a closer look! Unfortunately, the prices at Lou are quite high, which somewhat spoils the otherwise overall positive experience, including with our Labrador. Nevertheless – for a special occasion or a relaxed evening, a visit is definitely worth it. We'd love to come back!

Eat: The food is good and if you have a lot of time you can eat well here. Service: Bring plenty of time. The service couldn't handle our appetizer order, so after 1.5 hours (!!!) we finally had all the appetizers for 8 people. Reorders of drinks were only accepted when the waiters actively called. The same applies to clearing away. We had to actively point out that the table was full and only then were cups and glasses cleared away, making way for the main course, which, after the spectacle of starter delivery, was delivered to the restaurant almost 2 hours after our visit began. Ambience: Functional.

A culinary delight of the highest class and therefore worth every euro.

This restaurant is really classy in every way! Making a reservation wasn't a problem, we were warmly welcomed and our order was taken quickly. After only a short time we received the starters and drinks and just as shortly afterwards, but well timed to finish the starter, the main course. Arrangement, presentation, taste and price-performance ratio... ALL of it is high quality and equal. The service and the ambience are also very inviting and of very good quality. Personally speaking, one of the best highlights was a sake that literally sent a pleasant shiver down your body when you drank it and slid down your throat with a perfectly rounded sweet and sour aroma. I was also impressed by the big surprise roll that the chef created as an improvisation. In short: I can't and don't want to miss this restaurant. I will definitely visit this restaurant again and highly recommend it to everyone!

It was really delicious, my friend and I had sushi and loved it. The others had pasta dishes that were also delicious. The cocktails there are absolutely delicious and well made. The toilets were also very clean.

We were at Lou for the first time on Sunday. The food, whether sushi, curry, starters or anything else, was absolutely great. The drinks were also great and the sodas were something different. It's more expensive, but definitely worth the price. There is also a large children's play area, which makes visiting with children much more pleasant. The location is spacious and therefore you really have peace and quiet and you don't sit so close together. We can only recommend it.

Have visited several times and always had delicious food. The waitresses are very attentive and there is a nice atmosphere.

We are regular customers, every wish was always fulfilled, the staff is friendly and it is the best sushi far and wide. We love the mango curry with duck, pretty much all the starters especially the dumplings, the soups are great and the sushi is perfect. And yes, we've already eaten pretty much every sushi on the menu ;)

A great address for Vietnamese cuisine and sushi. However, the prices have also settled well into the upper range. Very noble atmosphere in the former GDR department store Magnet, whose traces (e.g. stairs) can be seen again.

Super tasty. Very nice staff. But you have to book a table in advance. Quality attracts people. Keep it up. After moving to the side entrance, the map was also revised. Unfortunately there are many errors in this. Typographical errors and incorrect descriptions of dishes. It's best to discuss this with the staff in advance.

Service staff is nice, food tastes delicious, restaurant is large with over 200 seats, very nicely decorated.

I am thrilled with the perfectly coordinated dishes and drinks. Everything we ordered tasted great without exception. The service is very nice and helpful, but unfortunately it became a bit hectic the more people came and we suddenly had 4 waiters.

The food is really delicious but the service was very bad. The fun started with ordering and continued until payment. Since there will be a lot going on on Valentine's Day, I reserved a table 20 days in advance (January 27th) and wrote down in the reservation that I would please NOT sit in the aisle. Arrived at the restaurant and tadaaa we got the 2nd table after the entrance door. Mood was in the basement. I showed the reservation and asked to be moved as soon as something became available. One person after the other left the restaurant and when asked they said the restaurant was full even though there were visibly free tables. When I wanted to bring it up again, new customers were allowed to come to the table. Once it was implemented, we gave up because obviously no one was interested. After ordering food and waiting 1.5 hours for the food (during this time our drinks were empty and no one came by to accept new drink requests, hand signals were simply nodded and then the person disappeared back into the back of the restaurant. The food came at some point when I had sushi and apparently they assumed that I was eating it with my hands because I had to wait a whole 10 minutes for chopsticks to eat with. I only got these when I got up and actively asked. Food was ready, drinks arrived at some point and we were fed up. To pay I had to ask 3 times until someone finally went to a colleague and actually told me. I have never been ignored and simply ignored so often in my life. Not that I need that, but in a restaurant that costs around 80 euros for 2 people and where I made a reservation 20 days in advance, they couldn't accommodate any request and we sat there as ordered and not picked up. From now on, the maximum number of orders will be ordered there, but on days like Valentine's Day etc. I don't have the fun anymore. This is not worth the money and time

The food is really fantastic but unfortunately it takes a really long time until you can take your pick-up, which you have set for 12.15.

Delicious sushi at reasonable prices. There is a lively and pleasant atmosphere. It is also unexpectedly larger inside than it appears from the outside. We would love to come back!

The food was great, but unfortunately we had to wait about 1.5 hours for the main course, and it was also quite loud at times due to the size of the restaurant.

Great restaurant, highly recommended! The beautiful ambience alone is convincing. Very tasty food with lots of vegetarian options and great homemade drinks. Value for money is right. The loving and spacious play area for children was also positively noticed. Definitely worth a visit!

The food was very tasty and I felt very comfortable there. Unfortunately, the sushi rolls 🍣 are only available in 8 pieces. I wanted this as a small starter, with different varieties. But 8 each would have been too many. Maybe you could set up something like this as a small appetizer. Otherwise great in terms of price too

Great restaurant, great selection and food and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely prefer to visit again, what could be improved are the cocktails. This should be more in line with what is stated, your own interpretation is of course possible but you should stick to the core drink, otherwise it's a great shop and we'll be happy to come back.

We were invited to LOU for the first time at a celebration and we were thrilled! The ambience is beautiful and the food was simply fantastic - an absolute pleasure in terms of taste. It's a real shame that we didn't discover this restaurant sooner. Unreserved recommendation from us.

From the reception to the excellent menu with wine accompaniment, the friendly manner of the staff to the farewell. What's the point of having delicious food and a nice ambience if the food comes to the table so late that one person has to eat alone and then observe for themselves. Compensation would be appropriate. At least an apology. I can only give my gastronomic experience here three fair stars.

This hungry traveller went for dinner to Lou’s with colleagues after an exhausting work week away from home. Working away from home has a tendency to steer you to heavy bar food and we were eager for a change and found it at Lou’s. Two of us had vegetarian dishes, one a sushi plate. The first two dishes wer lauded by their consumers. The sushi dish, eaten by this traveller, will receive a bit more detail: it was sublime. It featured inside-out rolls and regular sushi and was clearly the best sushi this traveller has eaten outside of Japan. It was fresh (of course), incredibly tasty, the wasabi had real bite and the ginger, fresh and thinly sliced, was also excellent. Combine this with brand-name soy sauce and you had a winner. Supremely, some of the inside-out rolls featured crunchy content - a bliss. On top of this, it was moderately priced and service was excellent. What else can one ask for?

Sehr köstliches Essen. Ausgezeichneter Service, Kellner sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich, kamen uns in vielen Punkten sehr entgegen. In verhältnismäßig (für eine Abendessensituation) kurzer Zeit unser Abendessen erhalten. Alles ging recht schnell und war frisch gekocht und warm sowie sehr köstlich. Der Schokokuchen innen noch flüssig und eine wahre Delikatesse. Der Tee mit frischen Zutaten aufgebrüht. Jederzeit wieder.

Established Asian restaurant with a manageable menu and an upscale ambience. Service is quick, friendly and nice. Price level is completely okay, presentation/arrangement of the food on the plates is excellent, the taste is ok.

Das man aus dem Erdgeschoss eines Kaufhauses (Eröffnung 1908, bis 1945 „Kaufhaus Zeeck“, in der DDR „Kaufhaus Magnet“) ein gelungen eingerichtetes, asiatisches Restaurant machen kann, hat das „LOU“ bewiesen. Die geschickt installierte, herunterhängende Decke und die halboffene Küche strahlen Gastlichkeit und Modernität zugleich aus. Die reich bebilderte Speisekarte avisiert Frische und Vielfalt. Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Softdrinks und Wasser (keine Flaschen) gibt es erst ab 0,4 l, was etwas keck ist, denn Größe und Gewinnmarge gehen bekannter Weise Hand in Hand. Das Essen, ein „Shaking-Beef“ für 16,50 € (Rind mit Gemüse und Reis) kam nach 15 Minuten, so wie in der Karte offeriert, zudem schmackhaft und gut gewürzt. Einzig das Verhältnis Fleisch vs. Gemüse muss wegen der Gemüselastigkeit etwas nachdenklich machen. Die Gastbarkeit war (zu Recht) gut besucht, trotz der Tatsache, dass sie in einem höheren Preissegment liegt.

Very good food, nice service and the area for the children is really great. Something like this is far too rare in Dessau and the thought is really nice. It is very lovingly furnished. We liked it very much.

Large Asian restaurant that caught our eye for lunch due to its very good reviews. As expected, the Thai duck was well presented and tasty. Service was professional friendly. However, the restaurant and its employees definitely lack an eye for detail. Soy sauce was spilled on the table offered to us and also spread on the glass coasters, which didn't stop the service from placing the beer we had ordered on it. The map was the next phenomenon. A partially torn loose-leaf collection of color prints that had become wavy due to moisture, describing the dishes through photos rather than text. Strange. Overall, we were full and prices were acceptable. Oh yes, card payments only from €70. Yes, you read that right. Anyone who writes something like this as a restaurateur in 2024 definitely wants to see cash. Everyone can think of their own reasons. The current rating of 4.6 is definitely not understandable. Maximum 4 stars from our experience. Still not a recommendation.

It's okay! Service very friendly.

We were there for the first time because we wanted to treat ourselves to something nice and Lou is praised so highly. The staff was very friendly and the place looked fantastic. My drink was delicious and the food was ok too. Unfortunately, I'm a little disappointed because I was hoping for a little more for the price. The sushi was relatively small and a lot fell apart very quickly for the price. My summer roll, its rice paper, was still relatively firm in some places and the dip was enough for one (or don't be so greedy next time :D). Overall it was nice there, but unfortunately we wouldn't visit the restaurant again given the price-performance ratio.

Huge restaurant, we sat outside for lunch, only a few guests were there. Very good and attentive service, food is excellent and came surprisingly quickly - of course with so few diners, the kitchen probably didn't have much to do.
