L'Osteria Essen in Essen

Not the prettiest L'Osteria. Pretty run-down. The tables were dirty, the upholstery was cracked, and the (not wheelchair-accessible) restrooms were in dire need of renovation. The food was delicious as always, but the service was unfortunately poor. In our three hours, we were only asked once, at the beginning, if we wanted a drink. After the meal, we sat there for a long time with empty glasses, but unfortunately, no one paid any attention. It's a real shame.

The pizzeria is in a good area, but the staff is completely overloaded. It is extremely unpleasant to have delivery drivers coming in, waiting for their orders and disrupting the atmosphere. We ordered two pizzas and had to wait about an hour to be served. Ordering a second drink or dessert is practically impossible as you would have to wait another hour. The staff are stressed and in a bad mood, and people talk very loudly in the kitchen, which spoils the atmosphere. If you get a table in the middle of the restaurant, be prepared for people constantly walking past to pick up their orders.

Claims to be an Italian restaurant but turned out to be a juice shop. Once and never again

Here all our wishes were fulfilled. We can recommend the terrace at the back facing the park.

I would advise anyone not to go here, the staff was incredibly rude, I and my friends were completely ignored at the beginning and our cutlery was simply thrown on the table. If you don't want to be treated like dirt, you shouldn't go here. It's just catastrophic, especially the conditions. Wow, I'm shocked

The food was good but the staff was catastrophic! I would never dare to come here again in any way. You will be treated differently if you dress differently or just don't look as smart. I would advise everyone not to come here but rather go to Dortmund to l'osteria, everything is great there.

L’Osteria is always worth a visit! Anyone who loves large, crispy pizzas and delicious pasta will get their money's worth here. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh and the taste of the food impresses every time. The pizza with its thin, crispy base and the homemade pasta are a particular highlight. The atmosphere is modern, but still cozy, and the staff is always friendly and attentive - even when it's busier. It's especially nice when you can sit outside and enjoy the Mediterranean flair. Price-performance ratio is right, and there are also some delicious options for vegetarians and vegans. If you're looking for a relaxing Italian break, this is the right place for you. We'd love to come back!

I ordered the Rigatoni Gorgonzola several times, unfortunately the portion was not justified for the price. I asked for a little more rigatoni on my next order (second chance), as the pasta (rigatoni) cost 11.25 euros and unfortunately only made up 1 cm in height in the take-away box. This was confirmed to me on the phone. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, exactly the same small portion as my first order. The price-performance ratio here is not right at all. For me, if you only offer 50 grams of rigatoni, that is anything but customer-oriented. Absolutely no recommendation!

Fabulous ambience, friendly and courteous staff who keep an eye on things even at peak times and, as you know and love, you get the tastiest pizza the size of a small table for a fair price. Always a pleasure to come here.

My favorite shop in Rüttenscheid. Always delicious, always fresh. Wine and coffee are great too. In summer, the garden with seating in the park is the most beautiful place. At lunchtime and also in the evening.

A visit as you are used to. Food was totally fine, you can't say anything about that. But there wasn't much going on, so I unfortunately have to say that I wasn't very happy with the service. Ordering drinks or telling you that you wanted to pay took a really long time, as I'm used to more attentive service. Nevertheless we went home satisfied and VERY full :)

I've been to various L'Osteria restaurants, but this was by far the worst. As always, we reserved a table online for 7:45 p.m. That worked well, as always. But then it started: we were there at 7:40 p.m. The table wasn't free yet. No problem, we were at the counter. At 8 p.m. we were brought to the table: it was far too small even for two people and the tables were so close together and it was so loud that I couldn't see who I was sitting opposite. I probably could have had a better conversation with my neighbors at the next table. He was only half a meter away. Added to this was the bad air. I don't know if the ventilation was broken, but it was just stuffy with no oxygen. Windows couldn't be opened because there weren't any. So looking outside wasn't possible either. The only window in the entire store was at the entrance. The rest completely without. The table, as already said, was far too small, was not cleaned and was still sticky with the cola from the previous person. The service was just stressful. We had to give our order screaming because of the noise. The admittedly good food came after about an hour. We were loudly told that it would take longer, but no one said it would take an hour. Then when paying by card I was essentially forced to tap the tip button. I was happy when I got out of there again. All in all, a very disappointing evening and definitely never again at LOsteria in Essen.

Very nice location and super friendly staff, food was delicious as always. After a misunderstanding when ordering, the correct pizza was delivered relatively quickly, and as an apology there was a free dessert! The waiting time was a little longer, but the store was also packed. We'd love to come back!

Service and quality of the food was very good. However, it was extremely loud and conversations were very difficult. The tables were a bit small, which was a challenge given the size of the pizzas. The parking situation does not need to be mentioned, as it is very bad and actually non-existent.

Top tip great staff, pizzas way too big 😎 and overall good experience. One star deduction for the ambience, the overall atmosphere is a bit too loud.

I have been visiting this chain's restaurants for many years, but after my last visit I seriously considered whether I would ever come here again. It started when we had to wait about 10 minutes before someone from the staff noticed us and offered us a table - even though there were several dirty, untidy tables with a "reserved" sign standing around. It was already around 8:30pm, the restaurant wasn't crowded, so this delay seemed strange. Finally we got a table. Perhaps it was unfortunate for the staff that we were sitting directly opposite the open kitchen - and what I saw there simply shocked me. First we were served a bruschetta. It was the worst version of this appetizer I have ever tried. Instead of fresh, crusty bread rubbed with garlic, drizzled with olive oil and garnished with basil, we got dry chunks of cold tomatoes straight from the fridge - no spices, no oil. When we asked for salt and oil they brought us a sealed bottle of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper. I decided to try a pizza at this restaurant for the first time in all these years - the marinara. It should be with seafood, cheese and garlic. Looking at the bruschetta, it's likely that the restaurant was completely out of garlic - because it was also missing from the pizza. The seafood consisted of mussels, tiny squid, shrimp tails and a huge slice of lemon… as well as pieces of mussel shell. The mussels had not been cleaned or washed - they even had algae on them. Now to the kitchen. It was pleasant to watch the pizza maker at work. After he put the pizza on the plate, he didn't touch it again. But the waiters generously poured oil (the same one that was missing from the bruschetta) on the pizza, cut it with dirty hands - no gloves - and sprinkled arugula on top with those same hands. Before that, they had touched money, terminals, bank cards, touched their faces and adjusted their clothes - all in a circle. Luckily the pizza was served to me uncut and without arugula. The toilets deserve special mention. I felt like I had wandered into a public toilet at the train station: garbage everywhere, dirty cubicles, overflowing trash cans, wet floors... It's hard to believe that a restaurant can be so unclean. And finally a question for the management: Where exactly do Italians eat pasta with a spoon? Do you really think a classic Italian dish should be served this way? And the most important question: why are neither the owners nor the managers interested in improving the service and quality of the food? A restaurant with such potential, opening its first location in 1999, and yet so careless in its treatment of guests. Very unfortunate.

Centrally located to Grugapark. The food was delicious and the pizza was plentiful too. The salad was rather manageable, but a bit too expensive. The service could be a little more attentive (even when the place wasn't too full, it took a while before someone came to take the order). Parking is rather difficult.

Very friendly staff. The food was good, my pasta dish could have used a little more seasoning. We were there in a large group and we all got our food very quickly. Unfortunately, when the restaurant is full it gets very loud and therefore a bit uncomfortable.

I can only recommend this restaurant to a very limited extent. The food is okay, but not outstanding either, something you might not expect from a chain. However, I am extremely dissatisfied with the service. When we wanted to pay, no waitress came by for 30 minutes and when we tried to draw her attention to us, she simply ignored us. We then got dressed and wanted to pay at the front. Here too we were ignored by everyone until a waitress squeezed past us, groaning and rolling her eyes. After a while she asked if we wanted to pay, to which we of course said yes. She then told us that here, like in every other restaurant, this was done at the table and that we should sit down again. I then told her that we would have been happy to do that if someone had come over. Then she said that she could send someone over. I have never been treated so disrespectfully and rudely in a restaurant. I completely understand when you have a bad day, but the person is really in the wrong place when it comes to service. I will definitely not go here again.

We were there on a Saturday at 5 p.m. with 5 people. I personally thought the food was great. Both starter and main course and especially the dessert. However, it was so crowded and therefore loud and uncomfortable. It was difficult to have a conversation with the music still playing. The tables are so close together that we sometimes couldn't sit comfortably. In total we were there for 3 hours because unfortunately the service just took too long. We won't come back on a Saturday evening. Too bad! Because the food was excellent.

Tables are organized differently, 1 league and 2 league. The reception from the lady was not good - despite the reservation and the birthday occasion. However, service from the waiter was good.

Enjoyed eating at other locations. But unfortunately this restaurant was very disappointing. The food is as expected, good, tasty dishes. Unfortunately, the service today left much to be desired. Inappropriate response to the question where our drinks were, while the food was already there. These only arrived after we had walked to the bar ourselves, and our food was actually already finished. Too bad, because the formula is good. Delicious food for a reasonable price.

We had ordered a few pizzas and pasta dishes to pick up and were there 5 minutes before time. Unfortunately, the pizzas were already on the ovens to keep warm, which wasn't ideal when you're actually looking forward to a freshly prepared, hot, not exactly cheap pizza. The ice cream we ordered was also sold out. Therefore, I cannot recommend L'Osteria for pickup, although the pizzas on site are the best in town.

Four of us spontaneously went here for dinner on Saturday evening. The restaurant is very busy, which is a good indicator. Very friendly welcome and after a short time a table was available for us. The first thing that stands out is the always friendly, fast and always present service. The food, we ordered pizza and salads, was beautifully presented and delicious. The pizzas, thin base, generously topped and really big; You should really be hungry. Since the price-performance ratio is also very good, I give it 5 stars.

If you like toilet seat-sized and extremely tasty pizzas, enjoy them in a cozy atmosphere and with first-class service, the LOsteria is a great place for you. We were there for the first time and were very satisfied. A clever idea is that you can order a pizza with different halves. This means you can share a pizza between two people without having to adapt to each other's tastes. Everyone then gets their half with the topping of their choice. We'll definitely be back.

We were at L'Osteria during the Christmas market. We had reserved a table and although it was very busy, the staff was very accommodating, attentive and very nice.

The waiters were very nice, the shop was empty but it still took a while until the food was ready... the pizzas were delicious, but the lasagne was also unfortunately very small in proportion.

Went there spontaneously on New Year's Eve and even that evening the service from Aische was super nice and attentive :) also delicious food as always, could have been a bit warmer and the Baileys a little more generous. Otherwise great :)

I had my huge seafood pizza here on a beautiful Sunday, and as always it was delicious. The service was really great. We were well served by a super nice young woman, I think her name was Rebecca (I know her name because I just had to ask because of her beautiful appearance).

The Margarita Pizza today was very tasty and our waiter, Ayse, was very friendly and courteous. My daughter was also treated very patiently.

L’Osteria bietet eine tolle Kombination aus leckerem Essen, angenehmer Atmosphäre und gutem Service. Wir haben den Abend sehr genossen und kommen definitiv wieder!
