L'Osteria Essen Kennedyplatz in Essen

Our visit to Essen at Kennedyplatz. We received a friendly welcome and were shown to a table. After a break of about 20 minutes, a young waitress came and took our drinks. These took another 20 minutes. My Bitburger Pils was already stale and served without foam. It was undrinkable, so I skipped it. I then ordered a Coke so the same thing wouldn't happen again. At this point, our food was served, which also arrived after about half an hour. My pizza was a wagon wheel, soggy and lukewarm. My wife had a pasta dish, also lukewarm. We ate it out of necessity because, firstly, we were hungry, and secondly, we didn't want to wait another hour. Our conclusion about this visit: we won't go back. The food and drinks were not good, the waiting times were not good at all. The service staff were very nice, but that's not enough. A waste of time and money. Never again.

We are really very impressed with the service. Despite the restaurant being full, we weren't sent away straight away, but were asked to go to the bar for a short wait. A table was set up especially for us. The meal took a little longer, which is why we got a free drink as compensation. The staff was consistently extremely motivated, friendly and committed. We haven't experienced such nice, friendly service in a restaurant for a long time. Absolutely great! Of course the food was also super delicious :-)

Excellent attention from the staff, specifically the young waiter Cosimo, he knows the menu and provides good recommendations when placing the order and speaks Spanish very well, plus the food was on the table very quickly.

A very nice restaurant, with really great style and Italian flair. The service is great, we feel very comfortable. Once again we were very impressed with the food, very tasty and we had a good time here. Salads and side dishes were very plentiful and tasty for us. What we also really like is that the vegetarian and vegan selection is very high. And great drinks to go with it.

Very loud and crowded. Service was very friendly, and the food came quickly. However, we had to wait forever to pay. Additionally, guests who were seated at the bar to wait for a free table constantly gave us impatient/annoyed looks as we continued to chat after we finished our meals. Very unpleasant! The food was tasty, but only the pizza portion was truly filling.

This time the pizza wasn't special, we had to wait an hour to get it and it was cold and it seemed like there was no mozzarella on it but cheese... luckily mine was just Margherita and I paid 10.90 but my colleagues paid 17.30 for the one with salsiccia and there was at most 5g of meat... a shame...

The food is like everywhere else. Because the restaurant is very centrally located, you have a great opportunity to eat out. The service is a bit worse than elsewhere. Sometimes we wait 1-1:30 hours for a meal. But otherwise I can recommend it :)

Pizza war wie in vielen anderen L'Osteria. Lasagne war das Geld nicht wert. Dessert ebenso. Service wird hier klein geschrieben.... Wer guten Service in einer L'Osteria erleben will, sollte mal in den Ruhrpark fahren...

If I could, I would give zero stars. Totally unfriendly staff (a bald man). We were treated stupidly when we ordered. We kindly asked if we could put something together ourselves, as we have already done it a few times. We then got a “yes”, but still stupid comments etc. After we decided to leave the store 2 minutes later due to the unpleasant atmosphere and gave notice so that no food was wasted (I worked in the catering industry myself and an order cannot be passed on to the kitchen so quickly and after such behavior I would no longer be an employee there!) we were asked to leave and then asked to sit down. On the way to the exit, voices were raised very loudly towards us and we were even touched. We didn't understand the problem. Pictures were taken of us without our consent!!! Impudence! We will never enter this store again and warn our loved ones!!!

Unfortunately I can't rate the food because we were never able to order any. Despite a reservation, we stood unnoticed at the “reception” for 15 minutes and were then seated, only to be ignored there at the table for another 30 minutes. No waiter was interested in us and took our order as if we were invisible. The neighboring table came shortly after us and already had their food within 30 minutes. Almost all the waiters ran to the tables around us and into the private area, but no one seemed to want to serve us. We then left without saying a word to anyone. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to the pizza. This has never happened to us anywhere. It's a shame - 0 stars would be more appropriate

Waiter Cosimo very attentive and accommodating.

The food is great in relation to the price. The service was first class, almost like you were on vacation in the south. Mega! Very respectful, humorous, caring. There is a star deduction because I think it's too dark in the store, if you have to turn on your cell phone to read the menu, then something goes wrong. I also found it really annoying how loud it was in the store. Sound-breaking elements are missing. Sometimes you couldn't understand the other person, which I found to be a shame.

Very centrally located. Nothing works even during the week without a reservation. We had made a reservation...but we didn't receive any attention at the door. Large dining room inside...noise level high...too loud for a nice conversation. Service overwhelmed... the first drink order took forever. Food ok...big pizza...that's what the chain is known for. If I had been there privately, I would have chosen a different restaurant

The place is great and the ambience is lovely. I really like to go to L'Osteria. Just one friendly advice: you're understaffed and I can see it in your employee's constant stress and face of unhappiness, get them some help, they're great at what they do, but they're not superheroes.

There were 8 of us with you and we quickly got a place. The food was served quickly and was very tasty for all guests. The service was excellent, nice and very friendly.

Wir waren heute das 1. Mal in diesem Restaurant essen und es war einfach toll! Die Pizza Rucola war riesig, sodass wir sie uns bequem teilen konnten. Das Servicepersonal war überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Zubereitungszeit der Pizza war angemessen und wir mussten nicht lange warten. Die Pizza war wirklich sehr gut und hat uns richtig gut geschmeckt. Absolute Empfehlung unsererseits.

Very cozy Italian restaurant! Funny thing it has Italian lessons in the toilets:) We like the food, we liked drinks!! Also one interesting thing, they have app online, and sometimes they have this wheel of luck, and you can win points, and then get free stuff paying with points, which is really cool! Recommend this restaurant! Everyone was nice and smiling:)

Basically, the food was good as usual, as was the ambience, but unfortunately the service and reception were not at all. We had reserved a table for 4 people. When we arrived and said this we were looked at and asked if we had made a mistake. At this point, no one even checked the reservations and the store was empty. We said how can we show the confirmation, then we were seated at a table. Only after we were finished did the store fill up. Unfortunately, we couldn't understand this behavior and it made you feel like you weren't wanted. Too bad.

Went here spontaneously a few weeks ago and had a pizza and a salad with strips of beef fillet. The food was good. The service could have been a little better (faster), but there was also a lot to do that evening. But the food tasted good.

By far my worst Losteria visit I've ever had! First they forgot to pass on our order to the kitchen, which WE had to point out to the waitress and when we said we didn't want the food anymore, she was so bold as to ask for a tip. NEVER AGAIN

Value for money for the pizza is unbeatable as it is also of very good quality. One of the reasons the store would have to close would be service. There are some deficiencies here, such as the fact that the customer is not noticed when he is standing at the entrance. If you want to find a place for yourself for a few minutes, please be advised to wait at the entrance.

Delicious!!!! In the full shop they were able to free up a table for 6 for us. Yamen was a great server. Kind regards from the 6 ladies.

The restaurant has a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. However, there was a bit of a draft, which made it a bit cold at times. The food was also very good and reminds you of the good times when your grandma cooked for you. The staff approach you in a friendly manner and give good advice if you are unsure. Overall, I can highly recommend the restaurant!

One of the best osterias ouside Italy, which I have ever visited! The restaurant offers a very cosy atmosphere and a very good service! The waiters are kind, although some of them don't speak English. The menu is attractive with vegetarian options of all kinds of the meals; one can find practically the best representatives of the Italian most popular cuisine while the menu list is consise and well balanced. The most impressive part is the size of the the pizza - it'd enormous at first glance, yet just enough not to feel overeaten due to the extremely thin crust! It's an absolute must to taste the pizza's! The draft beer is perfect! Another big advantage of the restaurant is that dogs are welcome! Thanks for the wonderful experience! Will visit you again when in Essen!

The service was subpar - very unfriendly waiter. Food came later than from the others who came after us. Since you then don't tip, it goes without saying - then the waiter became even more unfriendly. We won't be coming back...

Yesterday we ate a pizza here with a group of 7 people. Book in advance because it was very busy due to the Christmas market. Excellent service, nice and fast. However, compared to other locations, I found the amount of toppings to be on the meager side. At other locations it is simply much more. It was enjoyable. Funny toilet for the men.

I have visited this place on 04/12/2024, seated after 10 minutes standing in the lobby (3 waiters running around the lobby), ordered one pizza - Salsiccia Piccante, glass of wine and one glass of cola. Wine was very good, cola was huge mistake - without sparklings, tasted as poured from 2.5L bottle after two days standing in the kitchen. Then pizza came - first look - a LOT of oil on it...and i mean a huge pool of oil covering the whole pizza. Taste was a bit salty, salami on it was very cheap (and so salty) and the oil just nailed it. Only good thing on it was a dough. As a cherry on the top - awful music playing on the loudest setting (some radio pop tracks). I will never visit again this place.

I reserved a table for two people for my birthday. When we arrived it was completely overcrowded and we were seated in a corner next to dirty dishes. If you have the opportunity to indicate when making your reservation that it is a birthday party, you should expect a certain level of service. We left after waiting 30 minutes without being served. I'm not coming back anymore.

We had a great evening! The delicious food, the atmosphere, everything was just right. When the waiter recommended that we share the pizza, I was skeptical at first, but in the end we left full and extremely satisfied. Highly recommended!!!

The food was very tasty and the service was really friendly. We haven't eaten so well in a long time. We're just not sure whether we were charged too much in the end, unfortunately we noticed it too late and since we're not from here we can't change it now.

After 70 minutes of ordering and a starter still not received main courses which were placed as a joint order. After asking - after 60 minutes of waiting after ordering - only the somewhat stroppy answer came: “You had a starter” After a total of 80 minutes the food arrived. The pizza was already partly cold. It's actually a shame because I remember L'Osteria better.

Pizza base a bit too soft, but otherwise very good like all the other L'Osteria I know. Service was top and ambience as usual. I like going here because you simply know what you are getting.

Not my first and not my last time at L'Osteria at Kennedyplatz in Essen. Very tasty pizza and the pasta dishes are also convincing. We chose the lunch menu twice and were happy with our choice. The service staff were also very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very cozy. 🌟

Hello everyone, we were traveling as a family with 14 people (10-92 years old). The service was attentive and friendly, there was still room for improvement, but at the moment you have to be grateful if you are served at all. In this respect, 5 stars. What we found really negative was the loud music. Once upon a time, only a few people like it - you can still live with that, but then it's so loud that you could barely have a conversation with your immediate neighbor. How terrible that you think you have to do that to your customers while eating. It was then turned down, but it was still not pleasant for us at our age. The food was plentiful and tasty, but if you prefer a lot of toppings, this is the wrong place for you. This is simply due to the size of the pizza; it has to be sparsely topped, otherwise it would be unaffordable. The optics are awesome.
