On the day I was there, two young women were working who were truly wonderful—always smiling, polite, and helpful. I wanted to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and brought a birthday cake. I asked the staff to bring the cake a little later to surprise her, and they did so with such kindness and care! They took care of every little detail without asking for anything in return. Thanks to them, our evening was simply perfect, full of joy and wonderful memories. Thank you to the whole team for the great service and the warm atmosphere! 🌸💖 I have immense respect for all the employees who work with kindness and warmth, welcome their guests with love, and ensure that no one feels uncomfortable. Thank you to every single person who does their work with dedication and a smile, bringing joy to others. 💐

Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. We sat outside, but no one acknowledged or served us, even though several employees walked by. After a while, we simply left, as it was obvious no one cared. For a restaurant of this size and reputation, this is truly unacceptable. Service here urgently needs to be addressed.

Like pretty much all restaurants in the chain, the atmosphere is quite noisy. This detracts somewhat from the cozy ambiance. I had a risotto with strips of beef fillet, which was okay... but not exactly a memorable experience. The mushrooms in the dish were completely out of place and rather unpleasant in texture. The Parmesan was sprinkled carelessly – the cheap kind, of course.

Went to L'Osteria in Essen again. What can I say, the pizza was delicious once more. At 45cm in diameter, it looks big enough to eat! 🤣 However, thanks to the thin crust, you can eat more than it appears. If you want two different flavors on your pizza, you can easily have the other half topped with something else. The staff is very friendly, and even when it's busy, they always have a smile for us. We'll definitely be back. We've also visited other L'Osteria locations, and we were always greeted very warmly there as well. Service is always quick, so you never have to wait long for your food and drinks.

The food is truly excellent. The wait times for service are ridiculous. Two employees with mobile devices and three "stand-ins." The restaurant was maybe half to three-quarters full at most. We waited over half an hour for the bill, despite asking repeatedly. The service employees seemed to just be running around, while the two with the ability to bill were busy cleaning and preparing tables. Get your processes and division of labor in order...

The tables were dirty from the day before. Some of the seating was very worn and dirty. The glasses and cutlery weren't really clean, as you'd expect in a restaurant. The food was also only mediocre.

Today was the first time I've been to Essen with my grandson. We were hungry and craving pizza. The two pizzas were not only incredibly large, but also delicious. Unfortunately, we only managed half. The very friendly and attentive waitress suggested we pack the rest. However, since I had to return to Berlin, my grandson took both halves with him. I'd like to thank him for this wonderful experience, and when I come back to Essen, I'll definitely stop by for pizza.

Apparently, pasta dishes were no longer available after 9:45 p.m., the pizza was very thinly topped and one corner was burnt, and the staff was very unmotivated. This was our first and last visit to this osteria. The atmosphere is also considerably less comfortable than at other osteria restaurants.

Disaster, half the delivery was forgotten, but no problem, the Lieferando app pays you back straight away. It's just a shame that now half the family is left hungry....never again!

Unfortunately, the waitress at our table wasn't particularly impressed. He ignored us for a long time, and we felt unwelcome rather than welcome. He seemed irritated. It was very busy, so I can imagine how stressful it must be, but I'd never experienced anything so unfriendly before. The food is great, but the service needs some serious attention! Even if the place is packed, you can't wait over half an hour just for your drinks and then, when you approach them, get an unfriendly response like, "Well, that's just the way it is!" You should prioritize in-store orders instead of using delivery services when the place is full!

We were in Essen for a long weekend. We had reserved a table for four at L'Osteria for Thursday. Since the other two were still stuck in traffic, we sat at the bar for another 45 minutes. And even though our reservation had expired, we managed to get a nice table. The service was extremely friendly, the food was excellent, and two glasses of wine were on the house. Fantastic.

L'Osteria is truly a great place! The location is perfect and easy to reach. I had a coffee there and tried the Orecchiette di Manzo pasta – simply delicious and freshly prepared. The portions are generous, and the value for money is absolutely spot on. The atmosphere is particularly positive: cozy, friendly, and you immediately feel welcome. The service was also attentive and very friendly, which made the visit even more pleasant. For anyone looking for a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere, delicious food, and a central location – this is the place to go! I highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

If you reserve a table for a group in advance, you'll be kicked out of the café after 1.5 hours! And you'll be told this after 1.5 hours. "That's our rule," the waiter proudly explained. So it's best to just choose another café. P.S.: The funniest thing is that the place was half empty. The meaning of this mysterious rule is unclear.

We ate at L'Osteria at Kennedy Platz and will definitely not eat there again. Our impression of the hygienic preparation of the food was absolutely appalling: We observed several times that pizzas were handled directly with bare fingers and served to guests. We observed that lettuce and Parmesan cheese were sprinkled onto the pizza with hands without gloves or cutlery – sometimes immediately after cash was collected or someone had touched their face. It was particularly noticeable that a waitress with long, artificial fingernails scratched her nose while serving and then reached directly into the food. We immediately reported these hygiene deficiencies to the manager. Although they apologized, the situations repeated themselves right in front of our eyes. When we pointed them out again, some employees even laughed at us. We find this behavior towards guests disrespectful and absolutely unacceptable. From a hygiene perspective, our impression was a disaster, one that should not be occurring in the restaurant industry. The only bright spot: Our waitress was very friendly and attentive – for that, we would like to express our sincere praise.

Very disappointing: My food arrived much too late, and my companion had already finished. When it came to paying, I had to wait 30 minutes for my change. The waiter—tall, brown-haired, a southern-looking guy with a tattoo on his neck, in charge of the outside area—was disrespectful and rude. Absolutely not recommended.

Unfortunately, a truly disappointing experience at L'Osteria on Kennedyplatz in Essen. We waited for over 25 minutes without even being acknowledged. The waiter (he's bald, has a black beard, and is in his early/mid 40s) walked past us several times and completely ignored us. When I asked if we were still being served, he simply replied with a rude, "We're going to be served when we have time" – without any estimate of how long it would take. The explanation: "We're very busy." When we then said we were leaving, the only response was a snappy, "Then go away." I've rarely experienced anything so rude. I don't really know L'Osteria – good service and friendly staff are part of it for me. It's all the more of a shame that this place apparently doesn't invest in training its employees to treat guests respectfully and professionally. Conclusion: Absolute disappointment – ​​I can't recommend this place!
