I had diarrhea after the visit. My boyfriend had eaten my packed leftovers and then just sat on the toilet. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't smell very clean at all.

I had lamb steak (medium rare) with potatoes + 2 drinks = ~€40 The steak was great, and the accompanying sauce was delicious and well-seasoned. The service was witty and friendly. It was a bit on the expensive side, but it wasn't bad. The location is also nice. You can take a relaxing stroll afterward. Conclusion: I would go there again.

We eat here often. 🇮🇹 It would be a good idea to reserve a table. The restaurant is quite busy. You feel very comfortable here. We highly recommend it. 👍

The food was delicious. Everything was perfect. If I had to mention a downside, it would be the payment. Apparently, Dutch people can't use their debit card there. So I had to go to an ATM.

The food was very tasty, but the potatoes were a bit overcooked and the vegetables had a bit too much oil on them. The meat was tender, and the Gorgonzola sauce was wonderfully rich and very flavorful. The service was unmotivated and somewhat unfriendly, making it almost uncomfortable for guests to order anything. The service was also a bit taciturn, with no friendly remarks or smiles from any of the staff during the entire visit. However, the restaurant is very beautifully decorated. It perfectly captured the feeling of an Italian vacation and wanderlust.

It looks a bit unassuming from the outside, but it's huge inside. The decor is so kitsch that it's actually quite nice: not a fancy restaurant, but cozy. Good food at reasonable prices, very friendly service.

We've been to Capobianco several times. It's worth a visit, but the experience as a visitor ranges from good to mediocre.

A great start with a bad ending. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. Only the next day did I notice that the lady taking the cashier had the audacity to take an extra €10 as a tip. Too bad, we'll never be back.

We've been there several times, but unfortunately, yesterday wasn't so great. We (4 people) ordered different dishes. However, my pizza arrived 10 minutes later than the other dishes. Too bad. Even the neighboring table of 10 people got their pizzas faster (even though they arrived 20 minutes later than us). The linguini in the Parmesan cheese shell was also swimming in grease. A real shame, probably under the heat lamp for too long. The pizza and the fillet were excellent.

We had the best eavening of our vacation. There was a live Italian performance and if you are in to that THIS is the place to be. I can advice this to anyone who likes real Italian fun!

It was our first time there. The atmosphere was quite nice and unusual. The pizza wasn't special; it was rather soggy on the inside and had a strong fishy flavor. Even for a pizza tonno, it was far too strong. Nobody cared that three-quarters of the pizza was returned. For this reason alone, we found the service impersonal, cool, and disinterested. The saltimbocca was good, but the large cheese-filled croquette on the side was rather out of place. The place was also very loud and hectic. All in all, it's below average and not recommended.

Four of us ordered pizza and pasta dishes and were very satisfied. Food was tasty and more than enough in quantity. The ambience is more rustic and everything fits together. One star deduction for the ambience because everything is pretty close together and some things are wildly mixed up. Otherwise really recommended to everyone.

We had booked a table for 8 people for Saturday. Unfortunately we had to sit at a long table with others. There was poor live music (unfortunately this was not mentioned when making the reservation). You felt like you were in a noisy train station. It was so loud that you could hardly order. We weren't used to this from there.

Insider tip for anyone who wants some good food late in the evening. Kitchen is open longer than most other restaurants in downtown Essen. The ambience is very interesting.

We have actually enjoyed coming here for many years. Unfortunately, the taste has deteriorated greatly over the years. Plus, you probably get a free hearing aid every Saturday. Live music is all well and good, but when the "musician" in a restaurant competes with Metallica and Manowar, it's too loud. When asked to turn it down, they just said it was live music. We and our friends will no longer set foot in the store. So definitely not recommended if you want to eat really well for the price or if you depend on your hearing.

The very particular environment with a (I imagine voluntarily tacky) fake imperial style of ancient Rome. On Saturday evening there was also live music with the classics of popular Italian music. In short, the maximum of clichés about Italy, but the atmosphere ultimately very fun and above all the dishes definitely up to par with a good Italian trattoria.

This is my 2nd visit to this restaurant, the food here is delicious, especially the pizza, and the house wine is very cool. This time the service was just terrible, it seemed like the waitress just kept forgetting about us, or ignoring us. Since it was Sunday, there were a lot of people, live music, songs, the atmosphere was very cool)

Capobianco in Essen is a real highlight! The Mediterranean mafia-style ambience looks like a film set - stylish, unique and simply beautiful. The pizza was baked perfectly, with a wonderfully crispy dough and the taste was a hit. It definitely fills you up and leaves nothing to be desired. Service and atmosphere complete the experience. Absolutely recommended for everyone who appreciates quality and flair!

Chef in the kitchen yelled at his staff for at least an hour and he was so loud. I felt sorry for the staff

Unglaublich schlecht! Eine Stunde auf das Essen gewartet, um dann zu erfahren, dass man vergessen wurde! Dann kam das Essen, aber nicht, wie bestellt. Andere Nudeln und geschmeckt haben sie auch nicht. Kein Entschuldigen , kein Kaffee, oder Ähnliches, als Entgegenkommen! Das war’s, nie wieder!

Leave the restaurant full and satisfied. The restaurant is very nice and interesting. The receptionist was friendly and attentive and showed us to the table, which was immediately noticeable...the tables are quite narrow. The drinks and food were quickly consumed and there was also a delicious greeting from the kitchen with the drinks. A negative point was the menu, where the prices were marked with Edding. The wrong drink was delivered, after complaining we got the right one without much fuss. Our food then arrived and we enjoyed the delicious dishes with live music playing in the background...great. The plates were well filled and at a fair price, although it has to be said... both dishes had good slices of fresh garlic, which wasn't noted on the menu... it will bother some people. The restaurant can really be recommended.

It was a restaurant with friendly staff and a friendly Renaissance-style atmosphere. The anchovies on the Neapolitan pizza were disappointing compared to the raw taste. Pasta and waa are delicious.

The food is very good, the atmosphere is a bit old-fashioned but I don't think that's a problem. A lot of larger groups come because you can sit together here and feel comfortable.

We visited the restaurant for the first time today and were unfortunately very disappointed. As soon as you entered the restaurant you were ignored. Only after we had moved across the entire room did someone finally speak to us. Given the restaurant's reputation, I was expecting something much more upscale, but that impression quickly dissipated. After we were seated, it took far too long for someone to take our drink order - even though the place was almost empty. The drinks were then brought to the table in glass bottles, which seems completely inappropriate for an upscale restaurant. At the back of the restaurant there was a small area separated by glass doors where background music was playing loudly. At the same time, a live entertainer was playing his music right outside. Hearing completely different music from two sides was more annoying than pleasant. The menu itself was in poor condition: prices were written over with Edding - an absolute no-go for a restaurant that presents itself as upscale. The taste of the dishes we ordered was okay, but by no means special. In addition, the pepperoni was forgotten in one dish. When we asked, the waitress simply said: “That was the case at the other table too.” No apology, nothing. In addition, you can't bring the food to the table at the same time. Just 4 minutes passed from person one eating to person two eating The overall service also left a lot to be desired. The staff was hardly visible and not very attentive. Neither a “please” nor a “bon appetit” could be expected here. Given the restaurant's big name and notoriety, we expected something much higher quality - both in terms of food and service. Unfortunately we were very disappointed and will definitely not be coming back.

We are very disappointed by the strange business conduct. We were there on December 24th. We were passing through Essen and had ordered a table at 12.30 10 days in advance and asked again whether it would actually be open on the H evening. Lt. Hours on the door, the restaurant should open at 12 p.m. Still closed at 12:15 p.m., a call went unanswered. I think that's no way to accept reservations and then not be there!

The whole store is full of boxes. Not only did the table shake, but also the floor underneath it. Why a wooden terrace was built in the interior will remain a secret from the owner for what feels like 40 years ago. The chair also rocked, probably on the verge of falling apart. The service was quite nice, but very unobtrusive.

The live singer can be fired. If you want a quiet bite to eat, you should definitely not eat here. Service unfriendly and pasta not cooked properly. Disappointing!

Disappointed!!! Poor quality Ordered medium steak and got raw meat. After the waiter was asked about it, the steak was CUT into thin slices, BURNED and sauce was slapped on it! So for a 30 euro steak I expect more from the COOK.

Man merkt, dass der Betreiber Wert auf Qualität legt und nicht geizig ist – es gab reichlich Parmesan, dazu als Gruß frisches Baguette mit Butter und Oliven, das hervorragend geschmeckt hat. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, und das Ambiente war ebenfalls top – genau so stellt man sich einen perfekten Restaurantbesuch vor. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können CAPOBIANCO wärmstens weiterempfehlen!

We visited CAPOBIANCO for the first time after visiting the GOP and absolutely loved it. The food was simply delicious and the prices were really fair. You can tell that the operator values ​​quality and is not stingy - there was plenty of parmesan and, as a greeting, fresh baguette with butter and olives, which tasted excellent. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the ambience was also great - exactly how you imagine a perfect visit to a restaurant. We would love to come back and can highly recommend CAPOBIANCO!

Every year we go to the Essen Christmas market and then go to Capobianco here. Yesterday, Sunday, the 2024 visit was scheduled. The restaurant has declined a bit but is still good. There were four of us there with strollers. It's a bit of a shame that we had to ask two waiters where we could sit before someone told us where to sit. Only the second waiter was able to answer our questions about the food and the first dish came 5 minutes before the other three (why?). The question as to whether everything was okay was never asked. But everything (taking the orders, bringing the free starters & bringing the starters/main courses) went quite quickly. Food was mostly good. There's nothing to complain about when it comes to starters. The olive oil is available on site and tastes good with bread, as does pesto-flavored butter. The dishes were all hot, the meat was medium as requested and the portions were really big :) - e.g. B. 3 pieces of salmon fillet and 3 pieces of lamb (so you will be full even without a starter). Salmon, lamb, pizza and all side dishes (except the sauce) were good to very good. Unfortunately, a pasta dish (a kind of lasagna) was a bit too overdone (pasta too soft) and the cream and pepper sauce (for the lamb) only tasted limited (just like cream with peppercorns without any other taste). You can't complain about the price either: 119 euros (+ tip) for 4 people with meat and fish dishes. We will come again next year. Maybe it will be as good as before.

The sights give you one sensory overload after another. Maybe it should be sorted out. What I always perceive negatively: The boss himself is often present, but really unsympathetic and unfriendly. No smile on his face, no professional demeanor & he only greets his "elite" guests, for whom he is only available during the evening. So really not a good impression.

Inattentive and unqualified (each drink is brought to the table individually without a tablet) Iced tea/cola without carbonation warm without ice. The food wasn't really hot and was very greasy. The ambience is a matter of taste. Everything is thrown together, not uniform. Dusty boxes and wine bottles everywhere. Absolutely not recommended!!!
