L'Osteria Dortmund in Dortmund

2 stars, but only because the pizza was delicious. Dirty tables, long waits, even for drinks. Ordering a second drink wasn't even possible. Many tables around us simply left after waiting a while because they weren't served. Full ashtrays, just disgusting. And the location is also rather mediocre, with some really strange characters wandering around.

The food was delicious. However, the portion was outrageous. For 15 euros, 12 measly tortellini with a little sauce. That wouldn't even feed a child.

A very nice and cozy place to eat. We were 12 persons and all the food we ordered came within 15 min, even though the place was almost full. The food was tasty and fresh too. A nice place to be.

I was amazed by the large pizzas. They are definitely an experience and incredibly delicious! A nice, thin, crispy base and a great variety. The service was excellent; the food came quickly, even though it was really busy. I'd happily go back again; there was always room even without a reservation! Thanks!

The pizza wasn't cooked well, and the meat was raw. Despite the exorbitant prices, the taste and quality were very poor. Unfortunately, a rating below one star isn't possible. I can't recommend this restaurant.

The food is excellent, always tastes good, and is prepared with love. The ingredients are fresh and high-quality, which is to be expected at this price. A few points that might not be for everyone: the ambiance is generally really nice, but it's very loud due to the large number of customers and the music. It's also really warm and sometimes stuffy inside if the windows aren't open. My recommendation: If possible, sit outside or near a door/window and reserve a table in advance, as it does get quite busy. Reservations aren't mandatory, but I highly recommend it.

I was extremely disappointed with my visit to L'Osteria Dortmund. We ordered two beers and politely asked for tap water, as I've done without any problems at other L'Osteria branches. However, the waitress (a blonde woman in a white T-shirt) rudely stated that tap water is only served with an espresso—a completely absurd and unprofessional statement. Later, another waiter brought our beers and also had tap water on his tray. When I asked, he confirmed that tap water was available. However, the waitress had already decided to bring us the smallest possible bottle of water for €2.50 instead, even though we had specifically asked for tap water. The service was not only rude but also completely inconsistent. The sad thing is: If the waitress had simply responded kindly and brought us tap water, we would have happily tipped, as always. But because of her behavior, others didn't receive any tips either. This is the direct consequence of poor customer service. If I come back again, I won't tip. I come for the food, not to argue about a glass of water. Very disappointing experience in Dortmund.

There were two of us there, and it was really great. Very friendly staff, incredibly delicious food, and we didn't have to wait long. Neither for the drinks nor for the food. We both had a pasta dish, and it was truly delicious. We're very satisfied and will come back next time we're in Dortmund.

Our order simply never arrived. The lady who was supposed to serve us served the tables that arrived after us first – they already received and finished their food while we were still waiting. What's the point of good taste or quality if you can't even get the food or if the service is that poor? One more thing: As long as the older, blond-haired waitress with her discriminatory behavior works there, I will never visit this restaurant again and cannot recommend it to anyone reading this review. If you are not "German," please do not expect fair service. Our order never arrived. The lady who was supposed to serve us took orders from other tables who sat down after us, and they even received and finished their meals while we were still waiting. What's the point of good taste or quality if you can't even get the chance to eat, or if the service is that poor?

Simply great. Staff very friendly and quick, the atmosphere is cozy and modern. The pizzas are the highlight, you should be a little hungry or just share a pizza. If there are two of you and you both eat a pizza, it's better to sit at a table for four. The only negative thing is that there are some pasta dishes that are very small, so maybe just ask beforehand when ordering. Last but not least, the flagship of every restaurant is the toilets, which are generally very clean and well maintained. Of course, at events in the city something is missing or lying around. As soon as the staff knows this, a remedy will be provided. The highlight is a free Italian language course in the toilet.

The place was full, because of the football match of Dortmund, so I guess many tourists too. We had to wait like 20 minutes. We opted for pasta and pizza. Keep in mind that portions are big. Staff very nice and helpful.

Yesterday, eight of us ate at L'Osteria, including four wheelchair users, and we were extremely satisfied! The service and food were excellent! We'd love to go back!

A waitress cleaned several tables with a rag without washing them. Drinks were brought without filling them, and the glasses were dirty, and this isn't the first time.

Everything's fine, but this time we didn't get our Amore hearts transferred. I had the invoice printed out. Let's see if they can rebook it.

We wanted to go out for something to eat after our shopping trip. It wasn't very busy, and we were quickly shown a table outside. We sat there for a good 20 minutes and were ignored. When we asked, the waiter told us his colleague was in charge of our table. When she took an order at the next table 10 minutes later, even though these guests had arrived much later than us, we asked, and she snapped at us that her colleague was in charge. We should have left by then. But I asked again because I was simply hungry, and the waiter in question said he would have to ask his boss. Then a third, very rude waiter came over and snapped at us, saying it was very busy, they had better things to do, and we should find somewhere else! We will definitely do that in the future. Unfortunately, the place survives on walk-up customers, so service and customer friendliness are not a priority!

Super nice shop, delicious pizza, and a friendly staff. Five of us arrived shortly before closing time. The guys were still super nice and made us pizzas to go, and we even got to have a beer while we waited. The pizzas are truly "grande"—they're enough to feed two people. Definitely recommend it.

I ate there today. There were six of us. A really nice waiter served us. Because there were six of us, we had to push two tables together. The waiter helped us until a waitress came out and shouted very loudly at her colleague. They aren't allowed to do that. At least not in the second row. So we got two tables in the first row. It was about the way this woman shouted across the table. We couldn't stand that at all! We were then really happy that this waitress didn't serve us either. It's sad when you witness something like that and it puts you off your enthusiasm. I can imagine that working in the catering industry is very stressful, especially on a busy Saturday, but you definitely shouldn't react like that and humiliate a colleague in front of all the guests! Otherwise the food was delicious and our waiter served us really well.

Absolutely loved my experience at L’Osteria Dortmund! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented—authentic Italian taste at its best. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome throughout our visit. The atmosphere was warm and lively, perfect for both a casual outing or a special evening. We had pizza, lasagna, and delicious green spinach tortellini in a creamy sauce with ham—everything was absolutely tasty and well presented. The portion sizes were generous, perfect for sharing with friends. —One thing I really appreciated was how easy it was to split the bill at the end. For around €15–20 per person, and you really get great value for your money. Highly recommended!

Beautifully located on the market square, with plenty of outdoor seating. The food is easily an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. I always enjoy coming here. Prices are completely reasonable.

I wouldn't recommend picking up pizza. The pizza was cold and the toppings weren't like those at other locations. It's clear that the pizza isn't as hot as it was fresh out of the oven, but even the boxes were cold.

Unfortunately, the employees were very inattentive. It took about 20 minutes before we could order, even though we already said we were ready. After asking twice we were only able to pay, which took almost 30 minutes. (Despite manageable visitors). Unfortunately, the pizza was tasteless compared to L'Osteria in Bochum and Herne and the pasta wasn't optimal either. Unfortunately not a good experience. Hopefully it was just that day and was an exception. Otherwise we always enjoy going to L'Osteria.

Due to the nice weather, the terrace was full and the service staff were very busy. The first row of tables was occupied by 5-6 of us. Tables were moved in without any problems. The employees had a lot to do. Food that could not be eaten could be taken away in pizza packaging. For a long time, the request for pizza packaging left something to be desired. Repeated requests to pick it up myself didn't lead to success either. It wasn't until the third request that we were given packaging. The salad was great, the pizzas were large and good to look at, although the taste could have been better.

I'm a little conflicted, because it's definitely good here if there are enough employees present. But since we were told straight away that there was a staff shortage, it was more of a complete catastrophe for us. First we had to sit at our reserved table in the blazing sun, although there would have been a free table for our number of people in the shade. When we asked, especially because we had a child with us, we were told rather annoyedly that we could just go in or just wait and see as the sun would soon move behind the town hall. Ok, you can do that, but you don't have to. It would have been easy to position one of the parasols a little differently, but we weren't allowed to. Then we place our order and had to be patient until we at least got our drinks. I remember we were sitting in the blazing sun. It took some time before the food arrived, but the individual dishes were probably already finished, because both the pizzas and the pasta, and even the lasagne, were only lukewarm. In order to pay the bill and the opportunity to pay, we also had to ask three times and waited here again for far too long only to be said goodbye just as annoyed as we were greeted and treated. Please hire enough employees so that guests feel comfortable.

I ordered from L'Osteria because I was actually expecting a delicious pizza like I've had in several other L'Osteria restaurants. Unfortunately I was completely disappointed. After 15 minutes of delivery via Uber Eats, pizza is as cold and dry as if I had left it overnight. I also ordered pizza rolls with garlic sauce. These were still hot, but I didn't get garlic sauce, but a Caesar salad dressing, for which I had to pay an additional €2.5. What's that supposed to mean ? Was the last time I ordered there. I'll see if eating there is better.

“Would you like to have something to drink first?” ....a common question in the catering industry, and also an understandable procedure. Especially because guests could reorder drinks during their stay. However, it becomes unusual when, despite remembering, the food comes before the meal, the waitress then notices it again and comes back with a completely different drink "subito". Also unusual because the same procedure happened right here in Dortmund a few months ago. The service clearly showed little interest in the grievances raised when paying later, but in a very specific sequence of keys on the card reader... cheeky and a real shame. Also worth mentioning: In terms of taste, both the pizzas and the pasta dishes, L 'Osteria Dortmund is now far behind other restaurants in this chain, so we will at least avoid this restaurant from now on.

First of all, I would like to make it clear that the service gave everything. We really fought. I had a reservation for 7:00 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. an employee came for the first time and took our order. Then it happened really quickly. The food arrived at 7:45 p.m. but the drinks were ordered at 7:55 p.m. Dessert was ordered at 8:10 p.m. Dessert came at 8:30 p.m. If you reserve for 7 p.m. I think everything has to go faster. That's my biggest criticism. The food is great as always, the service was great, but waiting half an hour for an employee and a total of 55 minutes for the drinks was definitely too long. Now my opinion on this: it's not the service's fault, but clearly the person responsible for this location. With an estimated annual turnover of 2 million, there should be enough budget for skilled workers.

We were there 14 days ago after a Dortmund game, were able to make a reservation at short notice, the staff was very nice, the restaurant was still very busy at that time and therefore there was a bit of a wait for our food. That's completely fine for us, we should be grateful that there are still so many hard-working employees, both behind and in front of the counter.

Our visit to the restaurant was mixed. Right from the start we had to wait around ten minutes before we were even shown to our table. A queue quickly formed. It was pretty full but there were always waiters walking past us who had no idea and even after we asked, we had to wait quite a long time before we sat at the table. Even after that, everything dragged on a bit: the order took a long time and we also had to wait over an hour for the food. The staff is positive, very friendly and helpful, despite the stressful process. The drinks came to the table quickly, which at least made up for the waiting time. Unfortunately, the open kitchen was both a blessing and a curse: we overheard a loud argument between the chef and the waitress. Ideally, something like this shouldn't happen in front of the guests. The highlight was definitely the food. Excellent taste and beautifully prepared. It's a shame that the surroundings spoiled the overall impression a bit. With better organization and a little more calm in the team, the visit would certainly have been smoother.

There is good food here in a beautiful and successful atmosphere. Very friendly and committed staff. L'Osteria is a chain with many restaurants. The restaurant in Dortmund is tastefully decorated and feels very cozy compared to other restaurants in the same chain. You can sit inside or outside and get the usual good food.

I celebrated my birthday at L’Osteria and it was just perfect! The food was fantastic as always – huge, delicious pizzas and delicious pasta. The service was also top: Our waiter Nicolas was super friendly, attentive and made the evening even better. The atmosphere was great and we felt completely comfortable. Many thanks to the whole team for this successful evening – we will definitely be back!

We recently had a spontaneous meal here. The restaurant was very full and therefore very loud due to the large open space. Since we were there in the evening, we unfortunately saw a lot of dirt on the floor that could have easily been swept away like it was served or large, clearly visible crumbs. The service was friendly and included all requests in the order and passed them on without any problems. It was very busy but we had to wait about 45 minutes for 2 pasta dishes and a pizza. The food itself tasted good to us and was hot. Price performance is ok

Very big well: First impression wasn't great, we had reserved a table and the dark-haired lady, pretty much covered in tattoos, welcomed us. This in a rather stressed, not particularly nice way. When you arrived at the table, you had to wait 30 minutes until your order was taken... Instead of serving drinks quickly, they came another half hour later along with the food. .. The chicken salad for just under €15 was also a disappointment. Hardly any dressing and four pieces of meat... Definitely no need to repeat

Went to L’osteria today and tried the 50-50 pizza – super delicious! Perfect dough, great ingredients, tasted really good. A huge thank you to Sabrina, who was super friendly. This makes you feel right at home! Definitely come back – absolute recommendation!

Besser nicht über Uber Eats/Lieferando/Volt bestellen! Lieferung wird leider oft nach 1 Stunde und mehr warten ohne Begründung storniert. Nur auf Rückfrage heißt es dann, der Fahrer hatte einen Unfall und das Essen wurde zerstört. Diese Begründung wird derart inflationär verwendet, dass es absolut unglaubwürdig ist.
