L'Osteria in München

I love the place and the food, but the music is just too loud! I don't understand why it should be that loud while one wants to eat and speak a little together.

I ordered a Margarete pizza for my son because he loves eating at Losteria, but that's what he got. The bottom was completely burnt and you could only eat the middle part; everything else was too burnt.

The service was very slow; our order took around 40 minutes to come. The pizza was very dry and cold. There were very few toppings. Don't let the large size deceive you; it was so flavorless that we didn't want to eat it even though we were hungry. The pizza also didn’t had enough sauce. Our drinks arrived half an hour before our meal, so they ran out. There's a nice room with a nice atmosphere, so make a reservation if you can. But it's not worth going for the food.

Completely disappointing – never again! We were at L'Osterie Künstlerhaus am Stachus today, and it was an absolute disaster. Right from the start: We stood at the door for over 15 minutes and were completely ignored. Finally, we sat down ourselves because no one came – whereupon the waitress became rude and complained that we had done it. The treatment was truly disrespectful and unprofessional. I ordered a pizza afterward – and honestly, it was the worst pizza I've ever eaten. Tasteless, poorly prepared, simply awful. Overall, a very unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, I absolutely do not recommend it.

First of all, we're real L'Osteria fans, and the staff was, as always, super nice and friendly. But: a 65-minute wait for a pizza is unbearable, especially at 3:00 p.m. As we've heard from other guests, this isn't unusual at this branch.

The pizza was very mediocre. While it's quite large, would I rather get a smaller frozen pizza? Yes. The table wasn't wiped before we were seated. (Nasty) Also, the waiter only came once to order and then once to pay. We couldn't even make eye contact with the server to reorder something or ask for condiments, etc. When we took the pizza to go, it came wrapped like a burrito instead of in a regular box. Better off going to McDonald's on the other side.

As soon as we walked in, the staff avoided eye contact and were reluctant to guide us. They even made small talk with the customer at the table right in front of them, acting as if the person waiting to enter didn't even exist. If they had just made a gesture or a look to ask us to wait, it wouldn't have been so unpleasant. I think this is basic manners. Of course, this wasn't just a problem for us; it applied to other customers as well. Everyone who came in was made to stand and wait for quite a while. Not only that, but the tables were really, really dirty. There were crumbs strewn all over the tables and chairs. I brushed them all off, but it was still unpleasant. Even when we ordered food, we had to wait in the same awkward state. When I told the staff I wanted to order, they just asked me to wait and left, so I thought they were busy with something else. I watched closely to see what they were doing, but they just walked between tables or stood there blankly. I was just dumbfounded. The food was decent considering their behavior. Another review said, "Only go if you're really hungry," and I completely agree. My husband and I were so hungry that we went in, but we were so upset that we couldn't tell if the food was going into our noses or our mouths. Other reviews responded with things like, "We'll improve. We sincerely apologize." If that's the case, then this is a truly disappointing restaurant.

So-so…the food is great, but the service could definitely be better. The waiters were not satisfied that we were sitting together on the couch as we were occupying two little tables. The hall was partly empty, so I do not understand why it was a problem. We ordered the most expensive pizza, but it was served without rucola. As we noticed that, the waiter decided to replace the pizza with a new one completely. I don’t know if it was necessary, but thank you, because the first one was a little bit burnt. Finally we got the second pizza, correctly prepared, but this time they forgot to split it and I had to remind the waiter to give me cutlery. The location is amazing, but the place isn’t worth visiting more than once.

We always enjoy going to L'Osteria. Besides the delicious dishes, especially the large pizzas, the value for money is excellent. Furthermore, the ambiance is appealing.

We ate at L'Osteria today and it was a very disappointing experience. Right from the start, we had to wait an extremely long time – both for the menus and later for the food. During this time, the service was consistently rude to us, while other guests around us were served in a friendly and attentive manner. One particularly negative incident occurred when I took a sip from a water cup we had brought with us from the cinema. The employee then "reprimanded" us in an inappropriate, disrespectful tone. Such behavior is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. We would have expected significantly more hospitality and professionalism from a restaurant in this chain. It's a real shame – we certainly won't be coming back.

Top-of-the-line, mega-good: the ambiance. I'm not into chain restaurants, but the old Künstlerhaus is truly a beautiful setting. The only downside: the acoustics; conversations get quite loud, and when music is turned on, it's difficult to understand each other, even in a small group. Food: so-so. I had a wagon-wheel-sized pizza, which was also very good. Extra points for the option to make it vegan. Drinks were more "standard," but not a fault. Service: completely unacceptable: * The reservation was lost, even though it was made online. * They constantly reminded us that we only had two hours – despite the restaurant not being completely full. * With only 10 people, not everyone was served at the same time, but two of us were served 10 minutes later: sorry, that's not acceptable. In my case, the delay was due to the fact that there was apparently no vegan chicken on the pizza: they could have communicated this earlier (totally fine if that's the case), but not until everyone else had already been served. * The helpful waiter saved the day a bit :-) So: great location for taking photos. You can get food of the same quality at other branches. And the service there is much less chaotic!

The pizza was excellent! It was very loud in the middle of the crowd, the food was very quick, and the service throughout the evening could have been improved!

We stood in line outside to get in and were told there were only seats available at the time, and the wait time for food could be up to 45 minutes. So we sat outside – even though the waitresses weren't available. In the end, we had to wait a full 70 minutes for two pizzas. It was getting really cold by then. Many tables inside were empty, but they kept telling us we couldn't come in yet. Only after asking several times were we finally allowed in, then we had to wait a bit longer for the two pizzas to arrive. What a shame!

A wonderful experience at L’Osteria München Künstlerhaus! The location is fantastic – a beautiful historic building full of art and atmosphere. The food was excellent, service very attentive, and everything exceeded expectations. We came with visitors from Italy and they enjoyed it 100% as well. Highly recommended!

We were there for lunch. I mistakenly didn't enter the restaurant through the main entrance and ended up standing in the middle of the room. Instead of being offered a table or at least made aware that I should contact reception for a table, they just walked past me, and I stood there unnoticed. Once we were seated, the waiter started serving the table next to us at the same time. Cutlery was distributed across both tables in a hurry, and the same thing happened with the drinks. With an hour's lunch break, we were really running out of time. With only two main courses and two drinks, we hadn't foreseen such a long wait for food and drinks.

I ate Caprese but it was very oily

If there are some events in the city, maybe you will need to wait to be seated, which can be frustrated. But at the end it is worth to wait and also the staff is really nice.

We ordered two bottles of wine and pizza. There was a minor incident. We reported it to the waiter, and a manager was immediately called who clarified everything with us directly, on an equal level, in a truly human and respectful manner. The pizza was delicious, and I also recommend the Chardonnay wine spritzer. After this experience, a truly SUPERB experience and friendly clarification: we'd be happy to go back!

Almost the entire place was empty, with only a few occupied tables. Nevertheless, we were turned away because there were four adults and six children. They said that was impossible. It had nothing to do with the fact that the place was empty. The people behind us were told to wait (there were more than ten of them in total). At the same time, a waiter threw over his full tray and swore loudly. Never again!!! Child discrimination. Bad service. Unfriendly.

Despite having a reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. After another 30 minutes without service, we left.

We had a table for two near the bar. From there, you could see into a dark room. The curtain was open, and you could see a hooded man throwing away food, etc., with a lot of noise. You could even see flies. That's absolutely unacceptable. A door should definitely be installed there. We also had a distance of about 20 cm between the tables. We will avoid this restaurant in the future.

Ordered a pizza for pickup at 6:00 p.m. Picked up the pizza at 6:05 p.m. It was ice cold and looked like it had been sitting behind the counter for ages. It didn't taste good, especially for the price. The atmosphere in the restaurant seemed totally stressful and uninviting. The staff initially seemed unwilling to help and seemed annoyed.

The waiters are very lazy, they are hanging around instead of take the order. Their dishes are very salty if you have blood pressure, I would rather than another place.

We have been loyal guests of L'Osteria for over 15 years and have enjoyed many wonderful restaurant visits during this time. Our last visit to the Künstlerhaus München was all the more disappointing, as it was by far the worst experience we've ever had at an L'Osteria. After ordering, we had to wait over 40 minutes for our food. We were given the choice of waiting even longer for pizza or getting pasta – but even the pasta took over 40 minutes again. When the food finally arrived, we were extremely disappointed: The pasta carbonara was made with a cream sauce and served with simple bacon cubes, the kind you'd find pre-packaged in a supermarket – and all for a whopping €14.96. My personal impression: Profits are being boosted by constant price increases, while quality and reliability are noticeably declining. The concept seems to be reaching a tipping point – as has happened with other chain restaurants, it could soon collapse. It's a real shame, dear L'Osteria. We enjoyed being guests for a long time, but this experience has taken the joy away. Our love for you seems to be coming to an end.

Really nice location and staff is fairly nice but from sitting down to getting food it took more than 45 minutes. Appreciate it’s busy during IAA but still. Food arrived before drinks and the waiter seemed very annoyed when we asked for them. A bit cheeky to ask for a tip tbh

If you're looking for a good Italian restaurant in Munich, DO NOT go here. I've known L'Osteria for many years, and it's simply not what it used to be... The food is okay, but the dessert was a complete disgrace! We ordered strawberry sundae with mascarpone, and received a runny mixture of cream and mascarpone with just 3 slices (not 3 whole strawberries, mind you). It tasted absolutely disgusting, and it wasn't a strawberry sundae!! We took maybe 4 spoonfuls, the strawberries were gone after 2, and we left it. I mentioned our disappointment to the waiter when paying, but he didn't seem to care. He neither apologized politely nor offered us a new replacement cup, let alone offered us a refund for our barely touched glasses... In general, the service was poor and not particularly polite. Since the restaurant wasn't very busy, stress and being overwhelmed are hardly an excuse for the disappointing service. I could have just thrown the 10% tip I gave in the trash, it was so undeserved. It's a shame, since we also left a good amount of money. Unfortunately, apart from the beautiful interior of the Künstlerhaus, L'Osteria am Stachus doesn't really offer much, so it's better to find another restaurant to eat at to avoid unpleasant surprises and wasted money.

My family has now been told three times that the kitchen was closed, only to watch other customers who arrived after us get seated. When I pointed it out, staff mocked me and the manager raised his voice instead of explaining. This feels discriminatory and deeply unprofessional. Definitely racist.

I’ve dined at this Italian chain across multiple branches. The food consistently maintains its quality and is enjoyable. However, customer service has often been inconsistent. On this visit, the situation went beyond typical service issues. A tip was added to our bill without our consent, and the waiter did not provide the device to select the tip—he simply entered his own and presented the card device. When we asked about the charge, he falsely claimed it was a government tax (we verified with translation apps). We contacted the manager, who was very polite, sincerely apologized, refunded the amount, and even offered a dessert on the house. While the food remains good, this incident regarding tipping was completely unacceptable. Customers should always have the right to decide the tip based on service. Overall, good food, but I hope the management ensures proper staff training to prevent such incidents.

We ordered the largest knees I've ever seen, enough to fill one person up quite a bit. Prices are around 15 euros. The restrooms are very clean, and there's no need to wait. It's a great historical site, and dining with the historical artifacts at the bottom is quite enjoyable. The waiters were a bit less attentive, I think due to the busy rooms. Parking is a problem; the nearest parking lot is a 15-minute walk away, but I definitely recommend it.
