The late shift gets 5 stars as always, but Soha gets 6 stars.

The late shift will be the same again. It's cozy and nice again. That's how it should be. February 2024: Was great until a few weeks ago. Something is wrong with the ambience.

Absolute recommendation, very nice staff, top food. However, it has been a no-go since February. Now great again and old flair.

I always enjoy going there. The portions are more than decent. You'll definitely get full there! The prices are completely reasonable for the things you get. No matter if you want something to eat or something to drink. Even if you can't finish your meal, the friendly service will also pack up the leftovers for you. However, you have to take the leftovers with you and not leave them standing like I did yesterday (October 11th). Unfortunately I only noticed it when I got home. Therefore I would like to apologize, I took the trouble to pack it up and unfortunately I left it behind. If it didn't taste so good, you wouldn't be so upset about it. At this point I would like to say that the service is always friendly and attentive. Nobody goes hungry or thirsty here! Clear recommendation!

Delicious food, prices OK, friendly service, everyone was happy

We were there for the first time yesterday. The service was friendly and everything went pretty quickly. The food was ok, but nothing special. The taste wasn't bad, but it didn't blow us away either. But you get full. The menu is quite small anyway. Basically there is only schnitzel, farmer's breakfast or salad. And from the few dishes there were also fries or croquettes canceled because the deep fryer was broken and the seasoned meat was also out. All in all, we were full, but I don't have to go back there any time soon.

I've actually enjoyed going to the late shift for years, the food is tasty and comfortable, and the service has always been fine when I've visited. After tonight I won't be going back any time soon. There was a wait of around 40 minutes until an ordered drink was brought to the table - numerous guests had enough and went to the counter to get it themselves. It can happen that when you ordered a Hamburg-style schnitzel and a children's portion of schnitzel with fries, the fried egg ended up on the children's portion for free. However, it is very annoying that you had to wait almost two hours for the food. Even more so when the glasses are empty and the refills you ordered don't arrive. But the fact that you are then charged the full price for the children's portion served and is informed that supposedly no children's portions are served is hard to beat in terms of impudence. But the whole thing was topped by the fact that the kitchen staff yelled at me in a very unfriendly and condescending manner when I wanted to clarify the matter. Sorry, service and customer loyalty are different.

Experienced the worst service on September 6th, 2024. The service was incompetent. After waiting forever, the drinks came - but they were all wrong. And then it was time to wait again. And wait. And wait. In the end they gave us 5 drinks that we didn't even have. (It's your own fault. We didn't check that straight away.) That was it for the late shift. I won't go there again.

Waited 1.5 hours for food, some food and drinks were no longer there

In advance. The waiter really tried. But 1 hour 30 minutes to wait for a schnitzel. No, that doesn't work at all! Food was very average. Staff really nice. But unfortunately never again!

Small but fine menu with farmer's breakfast, schnitzel, etc. Dishes for small and large appetites. The preparation took quite a long time because many guests ordered at the same time. You should plan on waiting for 1 hour. But tasty.

Nice corner pub with affordable food!

I think it's one of the best pubs in Halle, very friendly staff and, for my taste, very good food.

Yesterday, August 24th, 2024, we went to the late shift to have a delicious dinner, but were bitterly disappointed. The order was taken and after an hour and a half the aspiring chef came to us and reported that he couldn't prepare the food because he had to change the oil, hadn't done the screw pan yet, etc. They then wanted to comfort us with some spicy meat, which didn't come after another hour and we then paid and left. I've never experienced leaving a restaurant hungry before. Coordination is zero when the restaurant is not fully occupied. The staff is hopelessly overwhelmed. I heard that the owner has changed again and I wonder what kind of boss the boss is who runs down the late shift like that. We went there regularly to have dinner but that has now been done, never again.

Actually, I only ever write positive reviews, but as the saying goes: You're not you when you're hungry... If it hadn't taken two hours to get the single mushy slice of cheese (“grilled cheese, 5.90 euros”), the three slices of raw zucchini (“grilled vegetables, 5.90 euros”) and half the tomato in slices (“tomato salad, 5.90 euros”). 90 euros), I would have had the opportunity to eat somewhere else afterwards where I would be full. Unfortunately it was too late for that. At least when it came to the plastic plates, the store proved to be generous: each of the above-mentioned bites was served on its own plastic plate. So if you want to develop a collection of plastic plates, this is the right shop for you, if you want to eat and get full without paying 187 euros for 23 appetizers, all of which were probably delivered within 48 hours at the latest, the late shift isn't for you right location. TLDR: Way too overpriced and not good at all.

A special kind of slow food experience: no one was in a hurry (except us). We particularly liked the grill week offer: €20+ for a piece of grilled cheese, a vegetable skewer, a drink, and some potato salad. Not a gram of fat remains (and unfortunately nothing else in the stomach either)!

Impudence! For €60 there was a grilled cheese and raw vegetables each. Unfortunately we didn't get enough.

We were there last night. It was too much for the waiter to bring me a few more ice cubes (at 32 degrees Celsius, for me ice cubes should actually be in my drink, but that's also a matter of taste). We waited two hours for our food and then two out of three meals were very bad. The schnitzel tasted like a trash can and the kitchen didn't respond to the tip. Better go somewhere else!

Bad, worse, late shift... We were there yesterday... unfortunately. Table was booked for 6:30 p.m., for my mother-in-law's birthday. We arrived about 10 minutes later than the rest. At around 7:00 p.m. everyone finally had drinks. At 7:00 p.m. we ordered food straight away. My father-in-law asked around 8 p.m. what our order was going to, and the answer he got was that he could stand in the kitchen... After a good hour, our son, 5 years old, finally had something to eat... Well, it should be fries, but not really edible, fried for too long, no spices, not enough ketchup... Further questions were answered snippily saying that only the assistant cook was there. We also got more drinks ourselves as we preferred standing at the counter and drinking with the guests... At around 9 p.m. she came to the table and asked if we still wanted to eat; the cook would start now. We had lost our appetite... The question of how it can be that others get their food earlier even though they arrived later and we didn't was dismissed by the fact that they are more of a pub. There was no apology. When paying, they also tried to take the food into account, which in itself is a disgrace. After being told that we didn't have anything, it was canceled and the chef complained from the kitchen because he was just about to start. Incidentally, the entire late shift seems to be a smoking area as there were ashtrays everywhere, at least from what I saw, including next to the kitchen... It also seems that the assistant chef had to help out in the service as he was always seen serving food to the guests. I looked at the reviews today and found that this is probably standard. The late shift should consider whether it even makes sense to offer food... Or whether it would rather just be a bar where they offer a few snacks... I would like to say something about the ambience, you could put cushions on the chairs and a privacy screen in the outside area would also be appropriate, the whole thing seems very unimaginative... Our clear conclusion: If you want to go out to eat then it's not there, if you want to go out for a drink then it's not there, the prices are unbearable. You can eat faster and better in every snack bar, and the selection of dishes is not only limited but also very unimaginative.

We had made a reservation for outside, we were supposed to sit on a kind of box (dirty) without cushions, the backrest would be the wall of the house. Because of the weather we wanted to go in, we should go to the basement 2 floors below. It really couldn't be more uncomfortable, a dark hole with no daylight, dirty, the plaster falling off the walls, something like that is absolutely unacceptable. The prices aren't cheap, so I expect a bit of ambience. The restaurant urgently needs renovation. We then preferred to go into town.

The food and restaurant itself were okay. Unfortunately we waited almost 2 hours for our food. The staff was very nice and friendly, but it was probably just overloaded.

I noticed how a bartender expressed very obvious hostility towards a (employee?), no matter what happened, such behavior, especially in front of guests, is not acceptable. I felt very uncomfortable

We've been wanting to spend another evening on the late shift for a long time. Excited to see what happens after the change of operator. Previous visits have all been almost perfect. Unfortunately I can't give a rating for the drinks and food because I wasn't able to test them. The restaurant was not fully occupied and actually all customers were provided with food and drinks. So I can't explain why after almost a quarter of an hour no one from the service team was even remotely visible. It's a shame and also disappointing.

It's a shame when a service person completely negatively impacts your stay. The drinks were brought to the table with obviously little motivation and a high degree of unfriendliness. The lady spilled some of the drinks (on the guests' tray and surrounding property), noticed it and instead of apologizing for it, she angrily put all the drinks in the middle and said "well then." We were completely buff. We already looked for the hidden camera, but no one came🤷‍♀️ I don't expect my feet to be kissed as a guest, but that was really inappropriate. Food was ok so far.

The late shift is iconic and quaint. I like such restaurant "and the corner". A small, fine menu with decent German cuisine and decent quality. Plus a good cold drink and hard-working waitresses. What more do you want.

Had reserved seats. Unfortunately we were accommodated in the smoking section. The waitress was very unfriendly and in my opinion she really didn't feel like it. Ordering drinks also took quite a long time. When we were asked if we wanted to order anything else to eat and said no, she was really happy and said it was good. Please be a little friendlier and things look a little different for us guests.

Our birthday visit with eight people was an absolute failure. We had ordered for 10 people... our reserved space would have been far too small for that... everything was pretty bland... the candle holders on the tables were empty, the cutlery containers were filled upon request, etc.... So disappointed I've never been from that evening. We are used to different things from previous visits to the “late shift”. A service person apparently for the entire location with a beer garden... you don't have to be surprised that it doesn't work... Niceness looks different too. We had to wait forever for the drinks and the appetizers we ordered came after two hours. My solyanka tasted good. My farmer's breakfast afterwards was a complete disaster...it was just greasy, not seasoned and the eggs were still runny inside...it was shameful. I let it go back without paying. Apparently there are only schnitzel dishes on this menu. Somehow everything is reduced and no longer as we knew the “late shift”. You can also scare away your visitors...instead of retaining them and making them come back. The current service still needs a lot of work. Unfortunately they won't see us again.

Waitress was very unfriendly and the rest didn't paste at all! Waiting for drinks also took time. When the waitress found out that we didn't want to eat, she was very happy. It seemed like she didn't care. It's like they're finally leaving!!!

Service and ambience are okay, but the food is absolutely unsuitable for people who don't like pork. No main course without pork, even the hamburger dishes only with pork...

We came and sat outside, waiter came with two other people and said that the table is already booked - when there was 0 signs that it is reserved or something. There was 4 more tables and she said “no sorry, we can’t sat you there”. Also she did not offered to go inside or anything else.

Rustic, the name fits the ambience. The 5 stars for the food cannot be compared to star cuisine. But the schnitzel dishes are exactly the same.

Very nice staff in a quaint pub with two smoking sections, quite good food and very reasonably priced… lots of regulars… making a reservation isn't a bad idea

A traditional pub with delicious cuisine

It was my favorite pub over 20 years ago. Then in 2000 I went to Perleberg because of love. Today, February 8th, 2024, I was in Halle again and took my husband with me on my late shift. And I have to say, I was thrilled. Everyone was super friendly, very familiar, the food was delicious and above all: delicious Guinness. I felt really good with you. Thanks.

Horrible, both food and service. A cabbage roulade with half-raw minced meat, cabbage that still cracks when eaten and lukewarm. When returning an offer of a replacement, which was politely declined. The cook apologized personally, which I found very nice. She also offered... replacement, ice cream or even a voucher. (a bit confused) she then brought a €10 voucher to the next table as an apology. Apologized again and gave me a Ferrero kiss. Then the waitress came and collected the voucher again. I couldn't take the voucher because I would then have to pay for the meal! What logic is that? But then insulting the guests in a snooty and arrogant way is the last thing. Conclusion... not recommended and I'll never see this place again.

Cozy, delicious food and friendly staff.

The ambience definitely fits the Zhema GDR, but for me it could still be a little more comfortable. The food is super tasty and the price is also very good. The service was very nice.

Tolle urige Einrichtung, Essen, Service gut

Ein sehr schöne kleine Gaststätte. Das Ambiente ist eher rustikal, mit Werkzeugen die an eine Schmiede oder Industriebetrieb erinnern, gehalten. Die Portionen sind üppig und ihren Preis wert. Das einzige Manko sind die knappen Parkmöglichkeiten.

Das Essen schmeckt prima, da gibt's nichts zu meckern! Punktabzug -->Service.... es dauert immer eine Weile, bis jemand zum Tisch kommt, und dann hat die Bedienung auch meist etwas vergessen

Wir haben da im Urlaub lecker 😋 gegessen.

Hier kann man zum Feierabend auf dem Freisitz oder auch in der Lokalität bei kalten Bier und Hausmannskost gut entspannen. Leider erstreckt sich der Laden über mehrere Ebenen. Barrierefreiheit ist somit nur schwer gegeben. Was mir am meisten gefallen hat, waren die vielen Skatrunden die im Keller ordentlich Karten gedroschen haben.

Nettes Personal, gute Getränkeauswahl und eine kleine oder feine Speisekarte.

Ich war überrascht!---Hab lange keine so leckeren Bratkartoffeln gegessen! Auch das ganze Essen war richtig lecker. Richtig nette Bedienung--vor allem die flotte Biene!😄Wir saßen im Biergarten, aber innen sah es auch sehr urig gemütlich aus!---Also, echt nur zu empfehlen!Wir kommen wieder!

Cool wie immer! Genau deshalb, eine der besten Eckkneipen von Halle.

Eine einfache urige Kneipe mit leckeren Essen zum bezahlbaren Preis. Man muss dieses Ambiente einfach mögen dann ist der Abend gerettet. Schnelle und nette Bedienung. Auf das Essen wartet man nicht lang selbst wenn der Laden voll ist.

Früher war die Spätschicht mal echt cool. Heute nur noch gruselig. Es ist mir rätselhaft, wie manche Bewertungen hier 5 Sterne rechtfertigen. Wo gehen diese Leute sonst essen, völlig irrationale Bewertungen. Eine sehr liebe Bedienung. Das war gut. Reinkommen: man steht im Rauchermief des,Smokerzimmers. Eklig. Tisch ganz unten im Keller. Sitzgelegenheiten unbequem und nach 30 Jahren abgeranzt. Wände und,Ambiente: ein Eimer Farbe würde wunder wirken. Türen zu den Toiletten ein einziger Sanierungsfall. Essen: Soljanja zwar lecker aber nur lauwarm. Sülze und Bratkartoffeln zu fettig, dennoch essbar. Schraubenpfanne aß ich früher gern, heute eine lustlos Pampe irgendwie in einer "Schüssel aus,dem 1.WK". Portionen zu üppig, weniger wäre ("isst")mehr. Alles in allem: es ist Schicht in der Spätschicht, Zeit für Renovierung und neues Konzept wenn es nicht weiter bergab gehen soll. Schade. Als Bierkneipe, wenn man schon 2,0 auf der Lampe hat, mag die surreale Wahrnehmung anders sein, aber nüchtern geht's gar nicht.

Schöne Urige Kneipe mit sehr leckerem und Bodenständigem Essen. Ordentliche Portionen zu einem angenehmen Preis. Nettes Personal was man heutzutage selten findet. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Es war unser erster Besuch in der Spätschicht und wir kommen gerne wieder. Essen und Service waren hervorragend 👍.

Ein echter Geheimtipp für Halle. Gehe hier seit Jahren hin und war mit meiner Tochter nun mal wieder hier essen. Gute deftige Hausmannskost zu einem fairen Preis, in einem gemütlichen Ambiente! Preis/ Leistung, top, nur zu empfehlen! 👍🏼
