Leimkasten in Wetter (Ruhr)

Never again. The expensive salmon from the fryer is dripping with grease. It's a good thing this place closed yesterday, forever.

We wanted to have a drink and a bite to eat in the beer garden during a hike. There were two tables in the shade, but we weren't allowed to sit at the larger ones with comfortable benches (we would have shared them with other guests), so we had to sit on the folding chairs that hadn't been wiped dry. After ordering drinks, we were again denied the small salad and the bread and butter – they were only available as an appetizer to a main course. The whole thing was presented in an extremely unfriendly tone and without any mention of alternatives such as cake. But presumably, the cake shouldn't have been ordered at that time of day either... We've rarely experienced such poor service and customer treatment! Unfortunately, we can't comment on the food – however, the large table with the benches remained unoccupied the entire time we finished our drinks...

We were just there. We wanted something to eat, but they don't serve anything until 5 p.m. My husband had a piece of cake because he was hungry. 5 euros. Outrageous. The entire beer garden was empty. But we weren't allowed to sit where we wanted. A couple after us had the same experience; they left, which was the right thing to do. The owner himself was very unpleasant. Never again.

Food was extremely tasty and of home made quality. The beer and cake was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was great.

We stopped here after a hike and I have to say it was a really good decision. Great service that I would like to particularly highlight at this point. Super relaxed, friendly and incredibly fast!! The cake was really very good, you can sit outside and unwind. We will definitely remember the restaurant and include it in our hikes. Conclusion: Definitely try it out!🌞

Certainly. The waitress (a young, friendly lady) was very friendly and accommodating, but the boss, unfortunately, was not; he seemed grumpy.

The food was delicious, the price/performance ratio was right, and the service was friendly. A quaint restaurant.

All I can say is that you get good, traditional food here at a great price. The atmosphere is top-notch, and contrary to some previous comments, I can only say about the proprietor: a true Ruhrpott native :) I highly recommend everyone to find their way to Leimkasten and see for themselves. For me and my wife, it's a fantastic restaurant... keep it up, dear Leimkasten team.

Amazing 10/10 experience with friends feom work. Authentic cuisine, great tap beer, and the owner with a great sense of humor! Will come back for sure!

Nice and totally friendly team, special requests no problem. Ambience very cozy inside and out. Food and drinks served at 123. Only the small, manageable menu makes it a little difficult for people with eating restrictions. Nevertheless, we look forward to the next visit

The idea was to round off a long hike with a nice and cool pilsner on a beautiful, warm and sunny day. We probably did the math without this innkeeper. Even before he greets us, he thinks it is necessary to inform his guests that you are only allowed to smoke in a beer garden when the ashtray is on the table. Well, if that's not even a good start, we thought. When asked if there was anything to eat, he responded as if someone had asked for 20 liters of free beer and said harshly that it wasn't yet 5 p.m. Three minutes later he brought the menu and was visibly disappointed that we didn't order anything. Dear host, gastronomy has to do with hospitality and behavior. This, if it ever existed, has apparently been lost. Such a beautiful atmosphere deserves better. I've been there twice now. For the first and certainly for the last time. And when I read some of the other reviews here on this topic, the thought creeps in: it's all just a coincidence. ; ) Yep.

Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the visit except for the ambience. In our opinion, the service was downright outrageous. Polite interaction with guests looks different. The goulash I ordered was also not what I expected. Unfortunately there were also pre-cooked fried potatoes, which for me was a shame about the beautiful potatoes. My sister had fish where the mustard sauce had separated... overall poor value for money

We ate in the beer garden with 18 people and were very happy with everything. Very rustic and yet cozy. Especially recommended with children.

Well.....the owner already knows how to persuade guests not to visit his inn again. The food was very good, but unfortunately his discomfort with guests doesn't make up for it. It's a shame that I can't give each other stars in social 🤔.

Great ambience in a very well-kept half-timbered house, beautifully furnished. Very nice and quick staff. Good food with completely good value for money.

The Christmas menu was impeccable! There were four courses. For the main course you could choose between 4 dishes. The food was super tasty. The service was courteous and very polite. See you next year. 😀

We were there for dinner on Sunday afternoon after a hike. Ruhrpott Currywurst veggie with French fries and kale, Kassler, Mettwurst and fried potatoes. The drinks came quickly, the food was really good and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and you can buy bottles of very good apple brandy there.

Sehr lockere freundliche Bedienung

Lecker, aber schon teurer. Schnitzel genial. Tolle Portionen. Currywurst 12,90€? Nun ja.

Nach einem Besuch am Henriette Davidis Museum und Erkundung der näheren Umgebung verspürte ich bei der Hitze etwas Durst. Draußen auf einer Tafel wurde Kaffee und Kuchen offeriert und so fiel mir die Entscheidung nicht besonders schwer mich verlocken zu lassen. Im Biergarten direkt neben dem Lokal war es zünftig wie in einem bayerischen Biergarten. Zudem wehte noch zwischen der Kirche und dem Lokal eine angenehm frische Brise. Ganz bestimmt werde ich mindestens noch einmal wiederkommen um die leckeren Gerichte zu probieren die dort ebenfalls angeboten werden.

Sehr schön gelegen an der Dorfkirche. Essen super, Getränke ebenfalls! Sehr netter Wirt!

Leider überfordertes Personal,viel zu lange Wartezeiten und dann noch den bestellten Salat vergessen🤦‍♀️

Nicht flexibel, es steht auf der Speisekarte Röstkartoffeln, Salat,aber kombiniert bekommt man es nicht. Sehr hochpreisig. War unser letzter Besuch

Gutbürgerliche Küche in historischen Zimmern

Kleine Karte mit großem Genuss! Es gab eine kleine Karte, die aber für jeden etwas bereits hält, von gut bürgerlich bis Ruhrpott Currywurst oder Schaschlik (sehr zu empfehlen). Ich war mehrfach dort und war mehr als zufrieden, begeistert trifft es dann wohl eher!

Gute Schnitzel und uriges Ambiente

Einfache und leckere Essen, gemütliches Ambiente inmitten von Einheimischen. Nette aufmerksame Bedienung. Immer wieder gerne, besonders Sonntags nach der Kirche.

Kleines Restaurant. Überschaubare rustikale Menükarte. Preise okay. Nach einen Spaziergang gut zu besuchen.

Wir haben nur etwas getrunken im Biergarten und hatten eine äußerst freundliche Kellnerin.

Einfache Gaststätte im Ortskern von Wengern. Freundliche Bedienung, Getränke sehr gut gekühlt. Essen gut, aber mittlerweile auch an der Preislichen Obergrenze angekommen. Geschmacklich gab es nichts auszusetzen.

Essen war soweit ganz okay, wenn auch Preislich im Verhältnis relativ teuer. Es war allerdings sehr unangenehm, dass der Chef einen Kunden sehr angebrüllt hat, weil dieser ein Fahrrad falsch abgestellt hat. Er verwies dabei auf ein Schild, dass Fahrräder nicht erlaubt seien, dieses war aber vom Eingang nicht ersichtlich. Der Kunde wollte deeskalieren und hatte sich entschuldigt, der Chef ließ sich aber nicht beruhigen. Das hat die Stimmung zerstört und wir sind gegangen. Die Bedienungskraft war allerdings wirklich freundlich, daher 3 statt 2 Sterne.

Wer mal wieder ein sehr leckeres Schnitzel nebst Beilagen in einer absolut sättigenden Portion essen möchte, ist hier bestens aufgehoben.

Preislich und geschmacklich gut, nur sind leider für mich die Portionen (Beilagen) etwas zu klein. Und der große Freund von der blauen Marken Cola bin ich auch nicht. Trotzdem komme ich gerne wieder und freue mich auch schon auf den nächsten Besuch =)

Im Umfeld der Kirche nettes Restaurant mit abwechslungsreicher Speisekarte. Essen war reichlich und qualitativ einwandfrei. Freundliches Personal und preislich im Rahmen.

Ich wußte kaum einen schöneren Platz um eine Rast auf einer Fahrradtour zu machen. Sehr idyllisch und sehr nettes Personal 👍
