My girlfriend and I were there for the first time yesterday...very nicely located...super friendly staff...great ambiance...delicious food...greatly presented...we will definitely be back

Disappointing! Such a great location, right on the lake, and then it's so bad! Unkempt and messy, tables and chairs not clean and placed all over the place, which doesn't make a good impression even upon arrival. The service staff are lackluster. Even two cappuccinos are only brought after asking three times. The food is of poor quality and vastly overpriced. It's fitting that the waiter asks if it's edible and not if it tastes good. The waffle was bone dry, and when I pointed it out, I was told it was my own fault because I didn't order cream or ice cream. Absolutely not recommended.

It was conceived as a family celebration after the registry office. The rooftop terrace was beautifully set up for a cocktail reception, rounded off with finger food for a light snack. Then there was coffee and cake, which guests could also bring their own. In the evening, an excellent buffet was served, continually replenished, and containers were provided for taking away any leftover food. All in all, a wonderful day with sunny weather and a delightful atmosphere, and with excellent hosts.

Finally, a restaurant that serves potatoes and vegetables as a side dish. Everything was delicious, and we could tell that the food was prepared with passion. We will definitely go there again. It's especially good for parents, as there's a playground right there. However, this can sometimes lead to a bit more noise.

Honestly? What kind of service is that? None, actually, since you're not served. This is our third and last time there. We tried three times and left after 15 minutes because no one came. The tables aren't clean, and our dog is definitely getting full; he finds plenty under the tables to eat his fill. No thanks.

For our silver wedding anniversary, we were privileged to enjoy the lunch menu at Friedrichs – an experience we will remember for a long time. Even before the event, we sensed their service-oriented commitment to making our day special. The team responded to our requests with great care and flexibility – and that's exactly what made this day such a success. The dishes were not only carefully selected but also tasted excellent. Despite a hectic day, the staff were always friendly, attentive, and dedicated. Especially in today's restaurant world, such dedication is not to be taken for granted. It's all the more wonderful that places like this still exist – and people who are passionate about hosting. Thank you for this special day at Friedrichs – we'd love to come back.

It was a cozy evening. We felt at home. Friendly service and, as always, excellent food!

Had lunch here today with a large group. The ambiance, food, and service were truly fantastic; even for a large group, the service was quick. I highly recommend the vegetarian burger, and there was also a good selection of dishes for vegetarians. It's very idyllic to sit here on the shore of the lake. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back soon.

The prices are abysmal. In my opinion, coffee is part of a breakfast buffet. We had to pay an extra €3.90 per cup. We only got one coffee each, as we weren't served well, even though it wasn't busy. The breakfast was poor, with half-baked rolls. All in all, not recommended. Maybe have a coffee or something else, but we would never have breakfast here again.

Friedrichs am See is beautifully situated, right on the banks of the Ruhr River. You can sit outside, which is wonderful on a warm summer evening. I can't comment on the food, as we only had a spritzer.

The restaurant's location is truly stunning – right on the lake, with a beautiful view and an atmospheric ambiance. Unfortunately, the dining experience couldn't live up to that. The food was a disappointment. The fries were softer than crispy, but quite expensive. The fact that you have to pay extra for simple side dishes like ketchup or mayo also leaves a bad taste in your mouth – especially when they forget to serve them. The wait times were unusually long – both for food and drinks. Cutlery was missing right from the start, and later on, things kept getting forgotten. The staff, while polite, seemed overwhelmed and unprofessional. Another table next to us ended up canceling their entire meal because it simply took too long – which unfortunately speaks volumes. In conclusion: The view is great – but it's better to just stop by for a stroll. For a relaxed meal with good service, there's definitely room for improvement.

Well, I don't know what to say, I'm still speechless at this abysmal service. It all started with a drinks order (1 large shandy and a dark wheat beer) and a request for a menu... after half an hour of waiting in vain, we finally asked, especially since other guests who arrived after us had already received theirs. The confused and rather listless-looking waitress (a male) then asked us twice in a row what we had ordered (we had actually placed our order with him... brought us the menus and then left, saying the drinks would be right there. Another young man then took our food order. So far... and unfortunately not so good... we then waited another quarter of an hour until our drinks finally arrived. This waitress was also apparently confused, or simply ignorant... because according to her statement, the wheat beer was the shandy and vice versa. We noticed this confusion at other tables too. Well, we still didn't have the salad after 50 minutes, so we paid for our drinks and left. Disappointed! We won't be back anytime soon. And if the excuse comes up that there was an event upstairs... well, then I just can't open for regular restaurant business...

We visited Friedrichs am See to check out the location for a potential wedding reception. Upon entering, it was immediately noticeable that the team was quite stressed on this sunny, busy day – understandable given the crowds outside. The first impression was therefore rather stressful, and we were initially a little unsettled. After a short wait, however, a young employee, Jan, approached us and took the time to talk to us. He showed us around the upstairs area of ​​the venue and gave us many helpful tips for planning our big day. His calm, friendly manner and his expertise completely changed the initial negative impression. Jan was extremely accommodating and attentive – a real asset to the team!!! At the end, we were treated to coffee and a slice of the truly delicious chocolate cake, highly recommended. Afterward, we exchanged contact details to receive further information from the responsible contact person. We left the venue with a positive feeling for the time being and are now looking forward to hearing back.

Not recommended. We waited over 1.5 hours for the food. When we asked, they just fobbed us off with "it's coming soon." When we wanted to pay, they told us "the food will be ready in 5 minutes." No, never again.

Hey everyone, first the good points: the ambiance is beautiful, with a lake view. Very quiet location. The staff is just as good. Unlike the chef. I have to say, I never expected to say this, but: Mcs would have been more of a fuss today. I'll describe what I had: The Roland Burger: delivered with fries and a salad for €20. Not bad, I thought, until my food arrived after 45 minutes. Let's get to the good: the pasta salad was very tasty. Now for the rest: The fries weren't crispy and not cooked all the way through, a 6/10. Now for the burger: the patty was very small and more than well-done. The bacon was almost as hard as the forks. The sauce wasn't very tasty either, and tasted very artificial. By the way, you had to buy mayo for €1 to go with the fries. The standard beer here is Warsteiner, which always gives me a stomachache anyway. I ended up having a wheat beer, which wasn't that good either, but that's a matter of taste. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this place.

We go to Friedrichs very often. The food is delicious, the staff friendly and engaging, and the decor very cozy. The owners are always there with their full commitment and heart. See you soon :)

Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I would not recommend this café and restaurant. Our reason is the unfriendly and poor service. We simply wanted a coffee and a piece of cake. That's what we ordered. The coffee arrived, but the milk was missing, and unfortunately, despite repeated requests, it took several minutes for the milk to be brought. We asked where our cake was, but there was no response. After waiting almost 15 minutes for it, we asked again, and the waitress blamed us for the cake not being brought yet. We should have explicitly mentioned when ordering that we wanted cake and coffee at the same time! That would be standard practice in every café... we were at a loss for words. In the end, after almost 25 minutes, we decided to forgo the cake. We didn't have to pay for the coffee, but our need for something else to eat to spend a pleasant time here was met. We think the service staff should be trained in this area.

We waited 20 minutes for two cappuccinos and a piece of cake...the cake had been defrosting in the microwave and didn't arrive until the cappuccino was already finished...the service was nice and helpful, but it didn't help! There were only a few people there, so they should have better control! It's a shame, because it's otherwise a lovely location.

Unfortunately, we weren't satisfied. They completely forgot to ask what we wanted, and when we asked when we could order, the waitress said, "Right away, I'll be right there." And "Right away" turned into 45 minutes 😅 We won't be back. It's a real shame that they didn't understand our request even after we pointed it out...

It goes to show once again that not everyone is suited for hospitality or service. Grinning or laughing at guests is completely unacceptable.

A truly delicious experience! 🍔🔥 I visited Friedrichs am See and tried the burger menu – simply delicious! Every bite was perfectly balanced: Juicy meat, crispy ingredients, and a wonderfully toasted bun. The fries were golden brown and crispy, just as they should be. Plus, friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. A place I'd happily visit again.

Beautiful view of the lake. We didn't order food, but the very slow service didn't impress us. A round of drinks was completely forgotten, despite the moderate number of visitors. Playgrounds in the immediate vicinity also offer a good option for families to stop by.

The cutest place! Delicious, beautiful, by a lovely lake in the promenade area. A wonderful huge terrace is a great addition. There is a place to relax here for a romantic meeting and for a walk with a dog. For children - a playground nearby. It's delicious here!!

Today we were in the wet and cool weather in the interior of the café, which is very tastefully decorated. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to enjoy the harmonious ambience with coffee and waffles. We felt very comfortable and had a good time. You could also order the coffee specialties with oat milk and various syrups (for an additional charge).

We came here after spending hours at the playground and were warmly welcomed. We enjoyed delicious fries and a few cool drinks. The service was outstanding in all respects! Our next sunny day at the lake will have a lovely ending right here.

Today we had an open family meeting with ultimately 22 people. The first floor was reserved for us. Our loud and lively crowd certainly presented a challenge for the staff. Nevertheless, the three very dedicated ladies from Friedrichs took perfect care of us. All orders were taken in a very friendly, focused and personal manner. Drinks and food arrived quickly and, despite our uncles and aunts being distracted by conversation, they were safely delivered. I find it really remarkable how wonderfully the family at Friedrichs was treated to today and am happy to post this detailed review here. We were all absolutely satisfied and thrilled with the great dishes. The burgers, schnitzels, soups and salads were particularly highly praised. Conclusion: Absolutely recommended! A very good restaurant in a best location directly on Lake Harkort!

It's a very nice place to visit, especially on sunny days.. it has a very nice playground, the service can be a little late because of the cost, but it's a bit expensive in relation to the price and quantity.. the quality is quite good.

The location of the house is very nice, the service was very friendly and accommodating. Despite pre-ordering... The Sunday brunch was a pure rip-off... Dry baked rolls, light wheat and poppy seeds, little choice of cold cuts, scrambled eggs upon request took 20 minutes, no coffee in the price, just cheap tetra pack juice.. Conclusion... Wasted money for 2 x brunch, 2x 0.2l cola and 2 coffees: 42€

A very nice restaurant, the breakfast was very tasty and the service in the morning was very nice and accommodating. Only the waiter who came around lunchtime didn't respond appropriately. He cleared the board without asking. A meal is served by the host and not the waiter. Some people might have liked to eat something more, but there was nothing left. Very unfortunate.

The two of us were there last Sunday. We chose a table on the first floor where there were two other tables occupied besides us. When, after about a quarter of an hour, there was still no service, my husband went downstairs to the counter and asked whether we should order better downstairs. This was denied. A waitress would come. Nobody came for another 10-15 minutes and then we followed suit A total of about 30 minutes of waiting went without seeing anyone from the service at our table. Good service is different.

The three of us were there this evening and had a really delicious meal. Delicious schnitzel, great salad and baked radishes as a starter. Never eaten before but absolutely recommended. The staff was super nice and attentive.

Unfortunately only one star for the service, unfortunately we had to wait forever for the menu (20 minutes), and it took 30 minutes for us to get the drinks.

Also the waffles with ice cream are very tasty. The view of the water outside is simply fantastic and you feel very comfortable and cuddled by the surroundings. What is also very, very nice are the boat trips. (The journey goes over the Harkortsee, then a little way up the Ruhr through the viaduct to the Ruhrbrücke pier in Herdecke. Then it goes this way back to Wetter.) You simply can't beat traveling by ship and it's a lot of fun and the soul finds rest on the waves of life. What's interesting for parents over coffee and cake is that the playground is right next to the restaurant, brilliant or not! For water lovers, too, there is a fantastic natural outdoor pool right around the corner and offers rest, relaxation and a feeling of well-being just for you. Many animals can be admired at the lake, white and black swans, ducks, pigeons and geese, etc. Have fun in life and enjoy nature and its splendor that God has given us all. For walking, this place is an absolute must for everyone. You walk right along the water and marvel at the wonderful atmosphere of God's glory to the fullest. Great selection of food including fresh croissants, scrambled eggs and a wide selection of cheeses and cold cuts. Absolutely recommended for a fair price.

Now the beautiful café has been called “Friedrich am See” again for a long time and the selection of food as well as the quality is excellent. You can enjoy both small items and menus. The menu also offers a good selection for vegetarians. The location is unbeatable anyway, with a view of the lake...it's nice that it's not compulsory to eat something, you can just have a drink after one Walk or bike ride Lake. Addendum: Yesterday, on October 12th, 2024, we had breakfast there with 6 women and it was outstanding: For us it is clear that we have a favorite location. There isn't the usual "battle at the buffet" here, but everything is served at the table on beautifully arranged platters and is always refilled. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating and everything was just 1a: thank you! This is different than the mass processing in the usual chain branches!

Nicely laid out with a great view. The waffles are great. Service was very friendly but incredibly overwhelmed. Customers overlooked, wrong orders constantly brought, long waiting times.

Unfortunately, we didn't feel like we were in good hands at all during our visit. It seemed as if the waiters were overwhelmed with "this" level of customers, but when asked they said that it was usual. We had to wait around 50 minutes for two drinks and a waffle with ice cream. Some of the tables next to us received their dishes, which were much less complicated, even later.

This is really a place to relax on the weekend, you can sit comfortably in a coffee shop and the children have a lot of fun in the playground

Great restaurant with friendly service and reasonable prices. Rating for the food is not possible as only something was drunk.

Very nice location, good cuisine with friendly service. We as a hiking group, the Flotten Solen, felt very comfortable and would be happy to recommend the restaurant to others. 👌👌👌

Drinks were served for 30 minutes, food for 1 hour. This is despite the fact that there were few people in the establishment and everyone was mostly drinking rather than eating. It was noisy inside even though we had the farthest table. The waiters rattled dishes and talked loudly, sometimes you couldn’t even hear the music. The salmon was overcooked and absolutely without spices: no salt, no pepper. It's as if they were simply forgotten. That's probably what happened.
