Just back from my Christmas present, "Le Petit Chef," at the Steigenberger Hotel in Konstanz: a culinary disappointment. The food was lukewarm, which was particularly noticeable with the completely overcooked rump steak with Béarnaise in the main course. Meanwhile, the vegetables were cold and half-raw. Most regrettable, however, was the vegetarian main course, cauliflower schnitzel with Béarnaise: Dear chef, this is unacceptable! A slice of steamed cauliflower that hadn't been seared, a few diamond-shaped pieces of vegetables (not the ones in the non-vegetarian main course), and NO Béarnaise. A very dry affair. When I asked about it, I was told they were OUT of Béarnaise and offered me dark gravy. No thanks… At the next table, they didn't even get any food at first… they'd miscounted the number of guests. What?! Dear chef, shame on you! And if it's a female chef: Shame on you too! The kitchen performance was abysmal, bordering on outrageous. I felt incredibly sorry for the waitstaff who had to deal with these culinary disasters. And with all my criticism, I haven't even mentioned the value for money. The entertainment was impressive and absolutely fantastic, as were the (strangers) at my table – hi Steffi 😊. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend it. Sorry.

We had booked "Le Petit Chef" at the Inselhotel Konstanz and were really looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, the experience was a complete disappointment. While the concept and the projections are nicely done, the food served didn't visually match the projections at all. This is precisely what the concept relies on – and when the visuals don't align, it loses much of its impact. In addition, some courses were served lukewarm. Furthermore, some of the advertised menu items didn't match what was actually served, which was very irritating. The overall negative impression was unfortunately compounded at the end: the billing was chaotic, as it was impossible to verify on-site whether the "Le Petit Chef" menu had already been paid for. This led to unnecessary arguments and an unprofessional end to an already disappointing evening. For the price, we had expected significantly more. It's a shame, because the location and concept actually have great potential.

The service was perfect, the appetizer was fantastic, both in taste and presentation. The second course could have been a bit warmer. For the main course, it would have been nice to be asked how one would like their steak cooked. Mine was well-done, but I would have preferred it medium. The Béarnaise sauce was excellent. The sauces were distributed differently on each plate, which is unacceptable at this price point! The biggest disappointment was the dessert, not the taste, but the fact that it lacked a single component that should have been included. A real shame! Otherwise, it was a pleasant evening with the various entertainment options.

We booked the Le Petit Chef dinner at the Steigenberger Inselhotel Konstanz and were extremely disappointed after the evening. What was advertised as a special experience was, for us, a complete disaster. It started with the ambiance: The tablecloths were unironed, which was particularly bothersome since the projector projected directly onto the table. This made the projection look jittery and cheap. In addition, the same music played constantly, always the exact same song, for hours. It was simply infuriating. The biggest criticism, however, was the utterly disastrous organization. We were there for over three hours in total. The actual projector videos lasted perhaps four minutes in total (one minute each for two appetizers, the main course, and dessert). In between, there were endless waiting times without any information or structure. It started at 6:00 p.m., and by 7:30 p.m. we hadn't even received our main course! After an already extremely long wait for the main course, just when everyone thought it was finally coming, a 15-minute smoking break was announced, which for some guests simply stretched to 25 minutes. Everyone else was forced to wait. Generally, you always had to wait for all the other guests in the room, even if individuals or families took forever to finish their meals. This was absolutely unacceptable for everyone in the room. The service was completely overwhelmed: After an hour and a half, we weren't asked for a second drink for the first time. The waiter seemed disorganized and clueless. Plates were brought out one at a time, one to our table, the other to a neighboring table, so no one could eat at the same time and both tables had to wait again. A table neighbor ordered a bottle of wine, and after an hour and a half, the waiter realized he had forgotten the order. Understandably, the guest then didn't want it anymore. The seating arrangement was also unacceptable: Couples were simply placed next to each other at tables for four, forcing unfamiliar couples to sit together. The few tables for two were so close together that you could inevitably overhear even quiet conversations between neighbors, and vice versa – absolutely unacceptable! Some of the tables were even misaligned, so the projector beam was half on the floor instead of the table. See picture! Another absolute no-go: dirty cutlery. Right at the start, I had to return a knife with tomato stains. With dessert, I received another dirty spoon, also with tomato residue (see picture). Simply unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. Everything went wrong with the drinks as well: A table neighbor received warm beer. After he said he'd like a cold beer, another warm one arrived. After waiting for three hours, all the guests just wanted to leave. One couple with a child even had to leave without dessert because there simply wasn't enough time. Paying the bill was another disaster: Instead of first billing the small tables for two, which would have been quick to serve, they prioritized large tables where no one could remember what drinks they ordered. These guests were desperate to pay and leave, but then stayed put anyway. Meanwhile, at least five couples, including us, were just waiting to finally get home. In the end, we paid €350 for two people (including drinks; three drinks cost around €40). For what was offered, that's an absolute rip-off. Honestly, we should have demanded our money back. Conclusion: A completely overpriced experience with poor organization, dirty dishes, unacceptable waiting times, and overwhelmed service. For us, it was the worst restaurant visit ever. Never again Steigenberger. This experience in no way justifies the price – quite the opposite, in fact. Le Petit Chef might be good, but certainly not here in Konstanz!

Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the price. There weren't enough waitstaff, which meant we had to wait longer for the food to arrive after each projection. For that price, you'd expect the cutlery and glasses to be fingerprint-free, especially where you hold the glass or where you put the cutlery to your mouth to drink/eat. Yes, I know we're all complaining about first-world problems, but the price is also very high!

The show has improved technically, especially in terms of resolution. However, I find 2-3 minutes per spot rather short. You need to increase that. And while you're at it, please lengthen the intermission music. It's very annoying when the music repeats (it feels like) every two minutes. Generally, the Petit Chef is a unique and very entertaining experience. Perhaps we've become spoiled after the fourth time ;-) --- Two of the four courses were very good (Italy, Japan), the Spanish course was mediocre, and the main course was inadequate. We assume something went wrong in the kitchen and they had to resort to a makeshift solution. Not good advertising for a hotel like this.

The dishes might have been good if the ingredients were high-quality, but everything was frozen. Some ingredients were missing from our dishes, such as the truffle and mushroom ravioli, which lacked mushrooms; the appetizer lacked pine nuts; the main course lacked sauce. In short, for that price and the location (which was a white, sterile room), I would have expected something more. And the service was just right, the essentials.

The service was a perfect 10/10; the staff were top-notch, and their expertise was evident. We were a bit disappointed with the food. For the price per person, we expected more. The tomatoes were missing marinade, and we weren't asked how we wanted our meat cooked (difficult for those who don't like their food medium-rare). Some of the food was lukewarm to cold by the time it arrived at the table. Drinks (water) weren't included; for that price, we would have at least expected water to be included. Parking was also an extra charge. Nevertheless, it was a lovely evening, and we'd gladly return, but next time at a different location with a different menu.

Not recommended at all for this venue... The booking was messed up, and we were charged a three-figure sum. The dispute was discussed in front of all the guests until they realized we had already paid in full. So be careful with advance payments... By then, our wedding day was ruined. The food, in its own style of entertainment, was good and commensurate with the price. I would recommend it for a nice evening at a different venue.

The concept is exceptional and stands out positively from the usual offerings. In our opinion, the format definitely has future potential. However, we see significant room for improvement in both the service and the culinary offerings. Two servers are simply not enough for an experience of this kind. Despite the very friendly staff, we unfortunately had to wait an unusually long time, and the timing didn't match the timing of the video at all (the main course even featured different components than shown in the video). We found the menu—especially at €160 per person—to be significantly overpriced. Some of the dishes were cold, the portions were extremely small, and the taste was underwhelming. We would generally give the concept another chance, but not at this price point, which we consider unreasonably high in its current form.

★☆☆☆☆ – Disappointing experience at Le Petit Chef We were looking forward to a special experience – especially given the high prices and the Steigenberger name. Unfortunately, we were massively disappointed. The entertainment was well done, and that's worth the one star. The food arrived at the table cold to lukewarm at best for all courses. The taste was okay, but far from outstanding. The meat was overcooked and tough, the portions extremely small – we left the restaurant with rumbling stomachs. Absolutely unacceptable for this price range. The service was also disappointing: – Inattentive staff – No way to order more drinks – A half-full water bottle was cleared away – The wine glasses were cleared away even though the wine bottle was still full – Refills? Forget it. For a Steigenberger hotel and at the price charged, you really feel ripped off. Over €750 for four people! You'd expect much more. For comparison: The people in charge should take a look at how Five in Zurich implements this concept – there you can see how it should actually be done. A real shame.

The table wobbled, which didn't seem very professional, and the walls in the room looked in need of renovation, but overall, it was a nice experience :)

The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, a great experience. Unfortunately, the evening ended less than pleasantly and left a sour impression. We spent over €700 on food and drinks, yet we were actually charged €12 for parking at reception. I wrote an email to management and complained about this. Their reasoning was that it's important for the hotel that guests have a clean parking lot, and thus, they cover the maintenance costs with the parking fees. We found this quite unusual, as all hotels/restaurants have to pay these maintenance costs, and we've never had to pay for parking before.

The Le Petit in Konstanz - in the otherwise charming Steigenberger Hotel - offers some aspects that leave room for improvement. The event room seems more like a room where you didn't know what to do with it and the general ambience doesn't convey a particularly inviting atmosphere. The service seemed overwhelmed to us and was hardly present, which is clearly disappointing given the high prices, which are in the Michelin range. This is apparently to be compensated for by a "show", in which the little chef presents a little humorous touch on the plates via a projector shortly before each course. The projector wasn't set up ideally for us (a minor issue), the show itself only lasts 1-2 minutes The food was generally very good, although once it was cold, you could probably have enjoyed this quality in the same location at a significantly lower price in the regular hotel restaurant... at over €170 per person. P. excluding parking... Not recommended in our opinion. Not a nice atmosphere, shows too short, too expensive for the quality. EDIT ON 01/10/2024 Originally a 3 star review, now a 1 star review after an attempt was made to have the review removed on the grounds that it was a fake review.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding at Terracotta. Both we and all of our guests were thrilled. The service was excellent, and the staff very friendly and competent. The food was delicious and a welcome change from the classic wedding menu—Mediterranean instead of roast and schnitzel. The quantity was also absolutely sufficient. Our highlight was the appetizer, served as a visual highlight, and both the soup and the Jerusalem artichoke schnitzel were excellent. We would like to thank the entire Hedicke family and their friendly team for a wonderful evening. All the best for the future!

The food was a real treat! I highly recommend the Entercode served on a hot stone. It comes with fries, three different dips, and a mixed salad. The decor is very modern and cozy. The tables are spaced far enough apart that you can easily scoot back a bit. All in all: Top-notch! Gotta admit it to the chef! I'll definitely be back.
