Clearly the best tapas bar in town! The owner and team are incredibly welcoming; you immediately feel like you're with friends. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy. There's even a small outdoor seating area. It's truly beautiful! My absolute highlight was the marinated sardine fillets. A taste experience that catapulted me straight to the Mediterranean. It truly felt like a mini-vacation in the middle of the city. I'll definitely be back!

A lovely, sweet restaurant with a great atmosphere. The staff is attentive and happy to provide good advice. The food itself is fantastic. Many classic tapas with a twist, as well as some more experimental, but always successful, alternatives. We've been here twice now and can wholeheartedly recommend it.

Found this hidden gem simply by accident, but it was a wonderful surprise. I would recommend making a reservation just to be sure. We were a but early, but later on parties of four without a reservation couldn't be seated anymore as the larger tables were already reserved. The food was wonderful and I was especially impressed by the amount of vegetarian options. About 60% of the menu is at least vegetarian friendly, which is not that common for a tapas restaurant. All the dishes tasted fresh and of good quality, but be careful with the tomatoes. They might attack your shirt. They have menu's available in both English and German and the staff speaks English well. The inside is cosy, but wheelchair users might find it a tight squeeze depending on the size of the wheelchair of course. However, if the weather is nice and you can sit outside, it will be no issue. Good to note that you can also pay by card and cash. Would definitely recommend.

This cute little, almost hidden restaurant is definitely worth a visit. We went for dinner after a musical and loved it. The ambiance is incredibly beautiful. The service was very friendly and accommodating. And the food was incredibly delicious. Due to the size of the restaurant, a reservation is recommended. We were here for the first time today and were absolutely thrilled. The food, the wine, and the staff were all delicious and very friendly. A big compliment to the kitchen! A great restaurant for couples!

We were really looking forward to our visit, but were unfortunately disappointed by the service. Upon arrival, we were immediately ignored – the staff walked past us several times without greeting or speaking to us. Overall, the team seemed very stressed, uncoordinated, and at times even unfriendly. It gave the impression of internal tensions – which unfortunately spilled over into the entire atmosphere. We had to wait an unusually long time for the menu and the opportunity to order. There was unfortunately no brief explanation of the menu – which you have to fill out yourself – which led to unnecessary confusion. Even throughout the evening, empty glasses and used dishes were lying around at many tables – apparently, the shift change hadn't worked. Several guests expressed their displeasure at the lack of service. A tapa was forgotten in both rounds of ordering – a shame. The positive: The food we ultimately received was very tasty and arrived surprisingly quickly. The kitchen does a really good job here – it's just a shame that the service can't keep up. Conclusion: If the service improves, we would be happy to come back – unfortunately, the current visit does not leave a good overall impression.

Dejlig atmosfære, ligger i stille omgivelser. Stedet har ikke plads til mange gæster, hvilket gør det meget intimt. Maden var gedigen og vel tilberedt, personalet var sødt og betjeningen super. Kan klart anbefales.

Tuvimos el placer de encontrar esta joya escondida cuando llegamos a Hamburgo. En realidad fuimos allí debido a las críticas en TripAdvisor. La comida era fenomenal, con un montón de artículos de tapas para elegir. No solo era la comida genial, sino que el servicio era impecable. También tuvimos el placer de conocer al propietario, Phil, y también fue fantástico. Muy amable. Recomendaría probar Le Golden Igel.

Wir hatten nicht reserviert und hatten Glück, dass wir trotzdem einen Platz bekommen haben. Es war warm und wir freuten uns über den tollen Platz im Schatten. Auch unser Hund war herzlich willkommen. Das Essen war sehr lecker!!! Die Rotweinzwiebeln, die Aioli-Soße, den gebackenen Ziegenkäse, ... alles war sehr gut und das Personal sehr freundlich! Wir können dieses Lokal nur empfehlen.

We went to the Igel yesterday with a reservation at 5:30 p.m. It's a really cute place in the heart of Hamburg. The tapas were consistently fantastic. The staff and the chef were exceptionally hospitable. Le Golden Igel is highly recommended!

A very nice place to have dinner.

We ate there with friends and weren't all that impressed. The food was good, but nothing particularly special; in any case, we'd had all the dishes before. The "beer garden," on the other hand, is a dark backyard; you sit on very simple beer tent furniture, and mice!! run under the tables! It's just uncomfortable. We won't be coming back.

Excellent food! We happened to wander in, or rather, rained in, and everything was already booked. So we got a seat in the covered beer garden, where the friendly host served the finest food, fine wine, and rhubarb spritzer. We especially recommend the meatballs and prawns. As well as the entire restaurant!

Exzellentes Essen! Wir sind zufällig hereingeschneit bzw. -geregnet, drin war schon alles besetzt. So bekamen wir Platz in dem überdachten Biergarten, in dem der freundliche Wirt allerfeinste Speisen und schönen Wein sowie Rhabarberschorle servierte. Die Hackbällchen und die Gambas wollen wir besonders empfehlen. Wie auch das ganze Restaurant!

Last night, four of us went to Le Golden Igel. I'm originally from Hamburg, now live in Munich, and often visit Hamburg. I had already stumbled across the Igel online during a previous visit to Hamburg, but unfortunately, there were no tables available. This time, I was quicker and reserved a table before our visit. This charming little tapas restaurant is so highly praised and well-reviewed for a reason. Every tapas we tried (and there were quite a few!) was truly delicious and—I'd say—prepared with love by Chef Joke and Chef Phil! The atmosphere was great, the entire staff was friendly and funny, and they even offered us a Medronho schnapps—what more could we want?! A truly wonderful evening, thank you so much, we're already looking forward to the next time!

We visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday and were absolutely thrilled by the friendliness of the staff and the fantastic food. We didn't have a table reservation, and unfortunately, it was canceled, but they were able to arrange something so we could get a comfortable seat. Le Golden Igel is a real insider tip for all lovers of Spanish tapas, right in the heart of Hamburg. We stumbled upon it by chance... the name piqued our interest, and the reviews were convincing. What can I say? Everything is just right. A small, cozy dining room, friendly service, and a super simple concept: choose from vegetarian tapas, meat tapas, or seafood tapas. Served with bread, aioli, and olives. All wonderfully delicious. It's advisable to make a reservation early, as there aren't many seats. We were very satisfied and will definitely return on our next visit to Hamburg... and it's true, by the way: the potato salad is amazing. Our second favorite is the zucchini with curry.

The food was good and delicious! There were two or three people serving. It was a bit slow for such a small restaurant, but friendly nonetheless. If you arrive early, you may have to vacate your table after 1.5 to 2 hours. Therefore, more than one reorder will be a tight squeeze.

Very small and somewhat hidden gem in Hamburg's Neustadt. Very tasty tapas, good wine and friendly service in a small space at moderate prices. The owner cooks in the open kitchen and comes to the table at the end of the day to say a few words. If you prefer to always be served from the right with discreet piano music and a generous distance from the neighboring table, you will surely find another nice place in Hamburg. Anyone who wants to spend a nice evening in a cozy atmosphere is in good hands here, sometimes on the stool, sometimes on the chair or even on the sofa. Recommended visit, reservation definitely makes sense!

We visited the hedgehog last weekend and were thrilled. The restaurant is tiny, so it's best to reserve early. In the evening a few people came in who couldn't get a table. The tapas were super tasty, came quickly and the service was very friendly and funny. We would come back again next time we visit Hamburg. :)

I've been eating hedgehogs several times with a variety of people and it's always been a feast! The food is fantastic, great quality even with the seafood, always fresh and delicious! Our only wish: more choice of desserts would be nice :) The ambience is also beautiful. But since it is very small, you really have to book in advance; there is rarely anything available spontaneously. My husband and I were there last Friday and the head chef even came to the table, asked the guests whether everything was OK, gave recommendations if asked, etc. Thank you very much for this great evening and the great support from the whole team.

A small and simple location with a pleasant and sweet atmosphere inside. You have to reserve in advance to get a table. The service was very nice and natural. The food was served quickly. In the end we found it negative when we asked to pay in cash but card payment was also possible. Rather inappropriate in today's times, which wasn't so pleasant. The guest should always be free. The food (the tapas) was all very tasty and of high quality. The drinks too. The prices are in the upper range. 9 tapas for around 100 euros in total. It was a very nice experience and I can only recommend it. Thank you.

Cada tapa que pedimos estaba perfectamente preparada y llena de sabor. Cada uno tenía un plato favorito diferente, así que no creo que uno pueda equivocarse con lo que se ordene. Mis hijos de primaria son un poco exigentes, pero están dispuestos a intentar cualquier cosa una vez. No encontrarás nuggets de pollo y papas fritas aquí, pero los camarones, pollo, papas y croquetas fueron un éxito entre mis hijos. El chef, Phil, se tomó el tiempo para presentarse a cada mesa. Con tiempo para hablar de viajes y comida, está feliz de mantener una conversación agradable, que se suma al pequeño y acogedor ambiente del restaurante. El personal también era excelente. Eran multilingües, lo que es muy útil para los viajeros con solo conocimientos básicos de alemán. Recomiendo encarecidamente, incluso para familias con niños.

Phil und sein Team haben wirklich ganze Arbeit geleistet, man spürt mit jedem Bissen die Passion. Der Service sehr freundlich und umsichtig. Zusammen mit dem Ambiente haben wir uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Die Tapas sind alle auf den Punkt und einfach lecker! Wir kommen definitiv wieder und erzählen allen davon.

It was our first time at the Golden Igel but definitely not the last time. Everything is just right in this really tiny, sweet restaurant! The ambience, of course the most delicious food ever and, last but not least, the people who work there with absolute passion. It's impressive that so much love for food can be put into such a small shop. I can only warmly recommend that everyone book the “le golden hedgehog” experience.

We had a wonderful evening, full of nice conversations with the staff, great wine and very tasty authentic tapas.
