Very small and somewhat hidden gem in Hamburg's Neustadt. Very tasty tapas, good wine and friendly service in a small space at moderate prices. The owner cooks in the open kitchen and comes to the table at the end of the day to say a few words. If you prefer to always be served from the right with discreet piano music and a generous distance from the neighboring table, you will surely find another nice place in Hamburg. Anyone who wants to spend a nice evening in a cozy atmosphere is in good hands here, sometimes on the stool, sometimes on the chair or even on the sofa. Recommended visit, reservation definitely makes sense!

What a super cool shop. The shop is very cozy, very high-quality food, friendly staff and the chef also knows how to deal with people. We'll be back.

We visited the hedgehog last weekend and were thrilled. The restaurant is tiny, so it's best to reserve early. In the evening a few people came in who couldn't get a table. The tapas were super tasty, came quickly and the service was very friendly and funny. We would come back again next time we visit Hamburg. :)

A small and simple location with a pleasant and sweet atmosphere inside. You have to reserve in advance to get a table. The service was very nice and natural. The food was served quickly. In the end we found it negative when we asked to pay in cash but card payment was also possible. Rather inappropriate in today's times, which wasn't so pleasant. The guest should always be free. The food (the tapas) was all very tasty and of high quality. The drinks too. The prices are in the upper range. 9 tapas for around 100 euros in total. It was a very nice experience and I can only recommend it. Thank you.

I've been eating hedgehogs several times with a variety of people and it's always been a feast! The food is fantastic, great quality even with the seafood, always fresh and delicious! Our only wish: more choice of desserts would be nice :) The ambience is also beautiful. But since it is very small, you really have to book in advance; there is rarely anything available spontaneously. My husband and I were there last Friday and the head chef even came to the table, asked the guests whether everything was OK, gave recommendations if asked, etc. Thank you very much for this great evening and the great support from the whole team.

Cada tapa que pedimos estaba perfectamente preparada y llena de sabor. Cada uno tenía un plato favorito diferente, así que no creo que uno pueda equivocarse con lo que se ordene. Mis hijos de primaria son un poco exigentes, pero están dispuestos a intentar cualquier cosa una vez. No encontrarás nuggets de pollo y papas fritas aquí, pero los camarones, pollo, papas y croquetas fueron un éxito entre mis hijos. El chef, Phil, se tomó el tiempo para presentarse a cada mesa. Con tiempo para hablar de viajes y comida, está feliz de mantener una conversación agradable, que se suma al pequeño y acogedor ambiente del restaurante. El personal también era excelente. Eran multilingües, lo que es muy útil para los viajeros con solo conocimientos básicos de alemán. Recomiendo encarecidamente, incluso para familias con niños.

Nunca he tenido mejores tapas, ni siquiera en España. Tenía 5 tipos diferentes. Todo lo que tenía era de buen gusto y fresco. Realmente disfruté de la noche. Aprecia tu atención y tus esfuerzos por hacer de esta una excelente experiencia, Phil.

It was our first time at the Golden Igel but definitely not the last time. Everything is just right in this really tiny, sweet restaurant! The ambience, of course the most delicious food ever and, last but not least, the people who work there with absolute passion. It's impressive that so much love for food can be put into such a small shop. I can only warmly recommend that everyone book the “le golden hedgehog” experience.

The service was outstanding, from the greeting and seating, to the drinks and food advice and the attentive meal accompaniment, right up to the farewell, all in all successful. It was a warm summer evening in Hamburg and we wanted to eat tapas. ☺️ Le Golden Igel spoke to us directly online, so we just went there spontaneously. The shop is small and intimate and was super full, but the chef still gave us a seat to experience this culinary delight. Thank you for that! 🤗 This was absolutely not a given for us. We had a wonderful evening, full of nice conversations with the staff, great wine and very tasty authentic tapas. If you're in Hamburg, you should definitely go to Le Golden Igel - it's best to reserve well in advance! ☺️

Sadly it has gone downhill. We were here a while ago and really liked it. But seems like they stopped caring. In general the winter time the restaurant is very cramped together. Where it seems like they prefer fitting as many as possible instead of comfort of their "guests" also in general they seem to treat guest very differently. And the food is maybe even below average. For the price. I remember it being better, but this time. The quality was below average, but the prices above.

It was our first time eating here. Small restaurant with only a few tables. Ambiance is good, nice music in the background, not too loud. The service is great and very nice and the boss personally came to us and greeted us. The food is super delicious. We had a good meal for two of us for around 80 euros with drinks. Every member of the staff at Le Golden Igel were incredibly helpful. We enjoyed the food immensely. We had an attentive waiter, the chef came to check in and the night ended in fireworks and a special drink from the chef. I wish every restaurant could be more like this one.

Attracted by the good Tripadvisor reviews, we booked a table for 6 p.m. The tapas bar with a living room atmosphere is a little hidden away. We were warmly welcomed and instructed in the ordering process. Good idea - in other tapas bars we always use the pad we brought with us to prepare the large order. 😉 The tapas were good, some interpreted with a twist (potatoes with Parmesan, scampi, vegetarian albóndigas, carrot sticks). The highly praised Mallorcan potato salad divided the spirits of the connoisseurs - that's the good thing about eating tapas with six people. The minced albóndigas were super tasty, but we missed the tomato sauce, there was only a small amount of it in the bowl. The highlight was the cheese platter - I haven't had such great cheese in a long time that was so beautifully presented. The only downer here was that the waitress, when asked about the types of cheese, only knew the mozzarella by name (but was happy to inquire for us in the kitchen, so in the end everything was ok.). When choosing the wine, our host tried to convince us to choose a €15 more expensive wine instead of the wine we had selected - sales talent or not, that was somehow embarrassing. Chef Phil came to all the guests' tables for a quick chat - we thought that was a very nice gesture. Hats off to the team that gives full throttle every day in these cramped conditions. Dessert, espresso and two types of liqueur according to a secret house recipe were a crowning finale. We'll work on the eloquent message that our booked time slot is coming to an end, right? ;) All in all, not a snapper, but definitely a tapas location with that special something, where we certainly won't be for the last time. The good reviewers turned out to be justified.

A very small room in which half of the seats are uncomfortable and have no backrest. There were 4 people assigned to the service, they just stood around most of the time and, given the small area, often got in each other's way. I worked in a restaurant three times the size and was the only waitress there. It was announced at the beginning that the food cannot be served at the same time because the dishes take different amounts of time. But that's the first thing a real cook learns: knowing how long which dishes take and cooking them so that they're ready at the same time. So far, every kitchen I've worked in has managed this and sometimes 15 people sat at one table, here a maximum of 5 fit at one table, but most of them only fit two people. I didn't think the way of ordering was bad, but it was poorly implemented. This could have been done much better and easier in terms of design. So it's just unnecessarily complicated without having any added value. I'd rather just tell the waitress what exactly I want, as there are more than enough for that. The food is definitely not authentic! I've been to Spain many times and eaten so much tapas. Here they are neither seasoned nor prepared in the same way as in Spain. The chef comes from Germany and so the food unfortunately doesn't even taste good as German food. I have never eaten such bad dates wrapped in bacon, I gave them to my friend. The potatoes were extremely dry and didn't taste like anything; German jacket potatoes are tastier. Unfortunately, the aioli was only served when the potatoes were already cold and unfortunately we couldn't save them. Everything we tried didn't taste good. It was just way too expensive for the quality. After the meal, the owner came to us and probably noticed that we didn't like it. He gave us a few shorts for that. That was nice, but I wasn't there for the shorts, I was there for the food. It seemed a bit like an attempt to improve our opinion of the restaurant. Maybe that's where the good reviews come from here?! I can't explain it any other way.

Nachdem wir das etwas verstecke und von außen unscheinbare Restaurant erreicht hatten, wurden wir äußerst freundlich von Swen empfangen. Wir waren etwas zu früh, daher mussten wir noch kurz auf unseren Tisch warten. Nachdem wir Getränke und erste Runde Tapas gefordert hatten wurde isch ausgiebig mit unserem Hund beschäftigt, Auch Phil, der Koch und Inhaber, kam zu jedem Tisch und hielt ein kurzes "Schwätzchen" in einer seiner wenigen Kochpausen. Das Essen selbst war sehr lecker und liebevoll zubereitet, besonders hatte es uns der Pupo-Salat angetan. Alles in allem ein sehr gelungen Abend, den wir beim nächsten Hamburgbesuch wiederholen wollen. Es empfiehlt isch aufgrund der Größe des Restaurants vorab einen Tisch zu reservieren.

Wir waren mit unserer 11 jahrigen Tochter dort. Ein kleines gemütliches Restaurant. Mitarbeiter und Chef super freundlich. Selbst der Koch kam an unseren Tisch und erkundigte sich, ob es uns geschmeckt hat. Es war rundum ein sehr schöner Abend, sogar unsere Tochter fand die Auswahl an Tapas super. Tolles kleines Restaurant, das einem eine Variation aus spanischen Tapas serviert. Wir hatten zu zweit 10 Stück und hatten danach keinen Platz mehr für das Dessert. Unsere Favoriten waren die Albondigas und der mallorquinische Kartoffelsalat. Einfach Toll!

A culinary highlight in Hamburg! The "Le Golden Igel" completely convinced us during our weekend trip. Thanks to our reservation on Friday evening, we were able to enjoy a wonderful evening in a relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen shines with first-class craftsmanship, in which classic tapas are reinterpreted in an innovative way. We were particularly enthusiastic about the Mallorcan potato salad, the perfectly prepared prawns and the cleverly seasoned carrot sticks. The combinations of flavors were well thought out and harmonized perfectly with each other. A special highlight was the visit from chef Phil himself to our table, who took the time to have a nice chat. The service was also excellent - the two wait staff were not only attentive and competent, but also let us try different wines. Her recommendation of the Portuguese Alvarinho proved to be the perfect accompaniment to the tapas. The crowning finale was the “Raspberry Vanilla Dream” dessert, which lived up to its name. Conclusion: A restaurant that impresses in all areas - from the quality of the food to the wine selection to the personal service. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Hamburg!

Lækker mad i afslappede omgivelser og et meget veloplagt personale. Rigtig spansk tapas , perfekt til at dele med venner/kæreste. Die Tapas sind einfach eine 10/10. Die Auswahl ist ausreichend , spricht für Qualität und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Wir hatten zum Essen den Hauswein, der einfach perfekt zum Essen harmonierte. Alleine für das Essen , muss ich nochmal nach Hamburg <3 Macht weiter so ! Service , Stimmung im Lokal einfach nur toll!
