Excellent French restaurant with great service

Very busy, you can also sit outside, and inside there are long, high tables. Everything is uncomplicated, a great wine selection, and excellent dishes. Be sure to share appetizers, then you can order more! The food and wine are excellent!

An authentic restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and lovely ambiance. The food is typical of a Parisian bistro, with excellent ingredients, great flavors, and perfect cooking times. I'd be happy to return!

We actually had a nice evening here, delicious food, and very good wine. The only negative points were the waitress' moodiness. We also asked if we could have a bottle of wine from the open menu. The bottle ended up being €49, whereas a glass would have been €11. So, for four glasses (0.2 liters), we would have paid less and had more. It's not a huge difference, but it's still something that sticks in our minds... What a shame!

Really nice outdoors, nice interiour, surly service and silly prices - but mostly super food.

We arrived with high expectations, which were unfortunately partially dashed. We had reserved a table for 8 p.m. and arrived on time. We were greeted rather harshly with the comment, "You'll have to wait outside." The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, but the tables are a bit crowded together, making it quite noisy. A small appetizer from the menu was already out, and the service unfortunately didn't offer alternatives. The main courses were excellent (including tuna), but the side dishes were so limited that we didn't really feel full. The curt service meant that we ultimately didn't order dessert.

Beautiful interiors but not great service. Made a booking via my hotel and arrived promptly. There was only 1 other table. I was sat outside and waited 15- 20 minutes but no one came to take my order/ bring a menu etc so I left. Understandable (in Europe) if the restaurant is busy, but paired with a not too warm welcome and empty restaurant, felt extremely underwhelming. Sad as I was looking forward to trying their cooking.

Dieses französisch anmutende Restaurant hat ein Wohlfühl-Ambiente und eine lukullische Karte, die wir sehr genossen. Der Hammer kam aber leider am Schluss bei der Regulierung des recht stolzen Rechnungspreises. Die Bedienung bestand auf Barzahlung, notfalls EC. Ich sagte, dass das aber äußerst unüblich sei und dass ich lieber wie überall üblich mit der Kreditkarte zahlen wollte. Es hieß dazu lapidar, die Zahlungsmöglichkeit stehe auf der website. Ich schaute nach und da stand tatsächlich: "Zahlungsmittel: Wir freuen uns über EC-Karte oder Bargeld" Ich sagte zu der Bedienung, dass da aber nicht steht, dass man mit Kreditkarte nicht zahlen könne, sondern dass es nur ein Wunsch, aber kein Zwang sei. Es entwickelte sich ein endloses hin und her wegen der Kreditkarte. Schließlich hieß es, der Chef habe der Kreditkartenzahlung zugestimmt. Ich frage mich, warum es der Chef dieses eigentlich wunderbaren Restaurants darauf ankommen läßt, seine Gäste derart vor den Kopf zu stoßen? Was will er damit erreichen? Zunächst Ärger verursachen und dann einlenken? Und das ganze weshalb? Um die relativ geringen höheren Gebühren von Kreditkarten/Debitkarten gegenüber EC zu sparen? Warum hat er das nicht in seine recht hohen Preisen einkalkuliert? Weiß er etwa gar nicht, dass durch die Diskussionen um die Bezahlung in Gegenwart meiner Frau jede Freude an einem mehr oder weniger großen Trinkgeld bis auf NULL erlahmt waren? Die Diskussion über die Bezahlung hatte uns auf jeden Fall das ganze Menü verdorben... :-(

A nice place to drink wine with friends in the evening. Nice ambience and good service. The food was expensive and rather average.

The fish soup only contained a small piece of fish, but the taste was very good. The price difference at kl. or standard portion of tartare is not justified. The raw oysters were too salty.

Last night there were four of us in this small but lovely restaurant – and it was a complete success! The host is exceptionally friendly and immediately creates a pleasant atmosphere with his warm manner. You feel welcome and in good hands. The food was simply sensational! Every course was prepared with a lot of love, tasted excellent and was beautifully presented. You can tell that people cook with passion here. Overall, a perfect evening - great food, a cozy atmosphere and a host who put his heart and soul into it. We'll definitely be back!

As part of a wine tasting, I was invited to this brasserie restaurant, which was unknown to me. Great cuisine, creative, very good craftsmanship and a very harmonious atmosphere! Prices are absolutely fair too!

The restaurant's cuisine is highly recommended. The lemongrass soup was a revelation of flavor, unfortunately only lukewarm, the veal schnitzel was of good quality, the potato salad had a kick. A good meal also includes good service. The fresh, crusty bread with salted butter as a greeting from the kitchen was only served after the soup. The soup wasn't even half eaten before the main course was served. Even if it was the inexpensive lunch menu, there was no mention of “formule rapide”. Patience was required when ordering coffee, which was served in handleless cups that were difficult to hold due to the hot contents, and when paying. The fact that no credit cards (only EC cards) are accepted is surprising in the 21st century. The price of €3 for a second plate to share a dish is certainly not particularly customer-friendly. The ambience is pleasant, but the background noise (including from the open kitchen and the counter) takes some getting used to.

Es war ein sehr schöner Abend zu viert mit einer guten Küche in sehr angenehmer Atmosphäre. Zum Einstieg hatten wir einen tollen Crémant Rosé. Die Fischsuppe ist sehr zu empfehlen als Vorspeise - super lecker. Im Hauptgang hatten wir sehr unterschiedlich gewählt, aber alle waren zufrieden. Etwas schade sind die Zeitslots von 18-20 Uhr und 20-22 Uhr. Andererseits zeigt es auch, wie gefragt das Restaurant ist. Wir haben zu danken für einen sehr angenehmen Abend.

Had the Kaninchen. Even though the rabbit was tender and the meat came off the bone properly, it lacked any sort of flavor. The sauce it was bathed in was bland. And the mini Ravioli was immemorable. Staff were unpleasant and unattentive. Overall, an uninspiring evening.

All around great. I'd be happy to come back anytime.

Top quality at reasonable prices. The fish soup, sardines in oil, and fried black pudding were all excellent. Great service rounded it all off! Highly recommended.

My partner and I had dinner at Le Comptoir 17 today (a Thursday evening). A few days ago we tasted wines in the associated wine bar Coté Comptoir and were very impressed by the service and ambience. For this reason we wanted to try out the neighboring restaurant. Unfortunately we were disappointed there. The three courses (tartar, risotto, crème brûlle) were well prepared, but overall average. The service was noticeably below average. After giving up the starters and main courses we felt badly looked after. We had to ask for the second bottle of wine, dessert and the bill ourselves. This shouldn't be the case after consuming €100 per person. I moved from Cologne just a few weeks ago and come from a family of restaurateurs. I was hoping to find a new regular here. In the future, I'll probably stick to a quick wine on the go. It's a shame, good service makes a big difference! We will consider giving this restaurant another chance.

Super slow service, high prices

Weekdays, mid-October 2024. We check the opening times and menu online, go by in the evening and find ourselves in front of the closed door. Vacation! It has been pointed out on the homepage for years that it will be open again from June 3rd, 2021. But current closing times remain a secret, or rather information as a note on the door... It's not that bad, Cote Comptoir next door is open. Not the best idea that evening. Overall, a little more precision is recommended for both projects. Non-regulars in particular rely on updated online information. Regarding Cote Comptoir, even the waitress didn't point out the update when ordering. We ordered from the old menu and received a dish we didn't want from the new, current menu.

Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt! Wurden auch vom Service sehr nett und aufmerksam bedient! Das Essen war ganz hervorragend und sehr gut zubereitet! Wir können es auf jeden Fall empfehlen und werden wiederkommen!

Das Essen war super, wir hatten Calamari mit frischen Tomaten und weißen Thunfisch. Alles nur zu empfehlen. Der Wein war auch gut, obwohl es nicht der war, den wir bestellt hatten. Und damit sind wir bei der Bedienung. Das war wirklich eine Katastrophe. Wir wurden bisher immer sehr freundlich, kompetent und schnell bedient. Dieses Mal konnte man der jungen Dame bei Laufen die Schuhe besohlen. Sie ist mi destins 4 x an unseren leeren Tellern vorbeigegangen und hat nur draufgeschaut. Die Hälfte hat sie vergessen, wir mussten immer wieder nachfragen. Das war wirklich sehr traurig und hat ein wenig die Stimmung getrübt. Wir hoffen für das nächste Mal auf die nette und kompetente blonde Dame, die immer alle voll im Griff hat.

We have been returning guests for many years and we have always been very satisfied. Authentic French bistro atmosphere, with excellent service and very creative cuisine. In summer, there are a few tables outside (it's worth making a reservation!). The dishes are interesting, mainly Mediterranean but there are always a few recommendations next to the menu that always offer something new :) In the pictures: duck foie gras and then Breton monkfish. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the cheese platter with cheeses from Yves Bordier. Allergies have always been perfectly taken into account and even when the restaurant was full, the service was friendly and professional (a table was always found). The wine selection is well-stocked with wines from France, Germany and Italy. Cocktails are highly recommended :) Not an insider tip, but it's certainly our favorite restaurant!

We had a lovely evening - actually; more on that in a moment. The Crémant Rosé was very good to start with; The bread with salted butter is excellent. We really enjoyed the asparagus salad and the (original!) oil sardine with bruschetta. This also applies to monkfish. Unfortunately, the chicken (crispy?) had a degree of doneness that resulted in the overall condition being significantly too dry. The service deserves a big minus (1 star is definitely too many). In particular, the lady, who seems to be in charge overall, knew how to spread an atmosphere of frostiness when greeting us, which was in clear contrast to the friendliness of her colleague (unfortunately she had a rather subordinate role to play and is rare appeared). The final chord was extremely unpleasant. When ordering wine, we opted for a bottle of the rosé listed on the menu (€33). Service (the frosty one): There is no such thing, we only have the bottle that is available open. On the menu the glass of the open was stated as €9. We ordered the bottle, but we weren't given a price for it. We thought the wine was great. The surprise was on the bill: €39! We very kindly pointed out to the lady (see above) that if the price of the glass was converted to the quantity of the bottle, the bottle should not cost more than €33.75. She then said that a glass price of €10 leads to a bottle price of €39. What's that supposed to mean? On the card the glass doesn't cost €10 but €9 and €10 doesn't cost €39 but €37.50. She then gave us €3 and said it was clear that a bottle always costs more than the corresponding amount open in the glass. We have rarely heard such nonsense. The behavior shown is an excellent strategy to let an actually nice evening end in a completely negative way, to overlay it with a decidedly negative veil and to completely scare off the guests. That's it for the Le Comptoir 17. Unfortunately! A shame after the many wonderful experiences at Marly.

Wir hatten einen schönen Abend - eigentlich; dazu gleich mehr. Der Crémant Rosé war zum Einstieg sehr gut; hervorragend das Brot mit Salzbutter. Sehr gut haben uns uns der Spargelsalat und die (originell!) Ölsardine mit Bruschetta geschmeckt. Das gilt auch für den Seeteufel. Die Poularde (knusprig?) hatte leider einen Gargrad, der zu einem deutlich zu trockenen Gesamtzustand geführt hat. Ein dickes Minus hat sich der Service verdient (1 Stern ist definitiv zu viel). Insbesondere die Dame, die insgesamt wohl das Sagen zu haben scheint, hat es schon bei der Begrüßung verstanden, eine Atmosphäre der Frostigkeit zu verbreiten, die in deutlichem Kontrast zur Freundlichkeit ihrer Kollegin stand (diese hatte leider eine eher untergeordnete Rolle zu erfüllen und ist selten in Erscheinung getreten). Der Schlussakkord war dann außerordentlich unerfreulich. Bei der Weinbestellung hatten wir uns für eine Flasche des in der Karte aufgeführten Rosé (€ 33) entschieden. Service (die Frostige): Den gibt es nicht, wir haben als Flasche nur den, den es auch offen gibt. In der Karte war das Glas des Offenen mit € 9 angegeben. Wir haben die Fläche bestellt, ein Preis würde uns dafür nicht genannt. Den Wein fanden wir prima. Die Überraschung stand auf der Rechnung: € 39! Wir machten die Dame (s.o.) sehr freundlich darauf aufmerksam, dass bei einer Umrechnung des Glaspreises auf die Flaschenmenge die Flasche nicht mehr als € 33,75 kosten dürfte. Sie meinte dann, dass ein Glaspreis von € 10 zu einem Flaschenpreis von € 39 führt. Was soll das denn? In der Karte kostet das Glas eben nicht € 10 sondern € 9 und auch € 10 führen nicht zu € 39 sondern zu € 37,50. Sie legte uns dann € 3 hin und meinte, es sei klar, dass eine Flasche immer mehr als die entsprechende Menge offen im Glas kostet. Solch einen Quatsch haben wir selten gehört. Das gezeigte Verhalten ist eine hervorragende Strategie, einen eigentlich schönen Abend komplett negativ ausklingen zu lassen, mit ausgesprochen negativem Schleier zu überlagern und die Gäste völlig zu vergraulen. Das war's dann mit dem Le Comptoir 17. Leider! Ein Jammer nach den vielen schönen Erfahrungen im Marly.

Ein weiterer Besuch hat wieder zu einer Enttäuschung geführt. Das Essen war eigentlich ok, die Bedienung aber immer noch unterirdisch. Wein probieren: Fehlanzeige. Man bekommt das Glas Wein kommentarlos hingestellt. Sauf oder stirb. In einem gehobenen Restaurant absolutes No-go. Dass die Schneidemaschine für den Schinken kaputt ist, ok, dann nehme ich halt ein Messer und bediene den Gast. Auch Fehlanzeige. Dass ich für einen unterirdischen Service kein Trinkgeld gegeben habe, ist selbstverständlich und schon fast Ehrensache. Zynischer Kommentar der georgischen Bedienung: "Danke für den tollen Service !". Ein Affront gegen jeden Gast, der in diesem Lokal locker 100-200 Euro liegen lässt. Zum Vergleich: Im fußläufig entfernten Milano wird man als Gast geschätzt. Wenn Arroganz auf Unfähigkeit trifft, kann man nur hoffen, dass hier durchgegriffen wird. Vorher werde ich hier keinen Euro mehr liegen lassen.

Great restaurant, good food, attentive service, good location. It's best to reserve a table outside. The wine list is also very good. We'd love to come back.

It was a nice evening... When you come in you somehow immediately feel at home. I found the swivel chairs to be a funny idea. However, they are not comfortable to sit on for an evening. In principle, the food is delicious, even if the price/performance ratio doesn't really match. The chop was ordered at the next table. It consisted of around 50% fat and was reasonably priced at €36 per person. I found the wine to be far too expensive. You are too close to the Palatinate for that. Service still has room for improvement. Forgot wine order and less attentive than desired Yes, we did it once, but there are also many alternatives.

Simply great. You can see the food is great and the service is great too. So what more could you want. We like being here. Thanks so much!

War einige Male im Comptoir als ehemaliger Stammgast des Marly. Das Comptoir 17 ist nur ein teurer Abklatsch des Marly. Essen zwar ok, zu einem Abend, bei dem man auch mal 180-200 Euro bezahlt erwartet man auch eine entsprechende Bedienung. Hier erfährt man nahe null Empathie. Man könnte genauso gut Roboter einsetzen, die wären zumindest noch lustig. Besonders die Bedienung aus dem Kaukasus (Georgien ?) ist völlig emotionslos und für einen gelungenen Abend deplatziert. Sorry, gibt bessere Lokale und Frankreich nicht sooo weit.

Das beste Essen in Mannheim, ein fabelhaftes Kalbsfilet mit gebratenem Spargel und ein sehr guter Côtes du Rhone. 👌🏼Ich hatte einen wunderschönen Abend, obwohl ich alleine unterwegs war. Die Umgebung ist ein Villenviertel mit Grün und kleinen Läden, das Restaurant gemütlich, die Atmosphäre sehr angenehm. Meine Empfehlung für Genießer.

It is unacceptable to pay almost 200 euros for two in a restaurant, then arrive home and get sick with food poisoning because the see food probably wasn't fresh...

Das Essen war gut, der Service unterirdisch. Nachdem wir unseren Crémant ausgetrunken hatten, kam niemand mehr an unseren Tisch. Wir haben uns an der Theke dann selbst eine Karte organisiert und bestellt. Nach dem Hauptgang wurde kommentarlos abgeräumt. Einen Espresso oder Dessert bekamen wir nicht angeboten. Bei anderen Tischen wurde nachgefragt, wir wurden ignoriert. Beim Bezahlen haben wir auf Nachfrage gesagt, dass das Essen gut , aber der Service schlecht war. Die Bedienung fragte, ob wir das erste mal dagewesen seien und es habe sich bisher niemand beschwert.🤷‍♀️ Schade, wären sie etwas aufmerksamer gewesen, hätte es mir echt gefallen dort.

Ich bin sehr happy! Sitze gerade beim Mittagessen und warte auf das Hauptgericht. Es können gar nicht mehr weniger als 5 Sterne werden.

Hier trifft der Gast auf ein Stück Frankreich mitten in Mannheim. Die vielseitige Auswahl an köstlichen Speisen erfordert Entscheidungen bei der Bestellung. Alles ist vorzüglich zubereitet und sehr schmackhaft. Auch auf der Weinkarte befinden sich tolle Speisenbegleiter von guter Qualität.

Wir waren zu 4rt dort. Die Portionen waren klein und leider diverse Gerichte versalzen. Schade, war mal besser.

Mannheim hat einen kleinen Genusstempel. Ob die Bouillabaisse oder das Rindertatar, dazu die passende Wein Empfehlungen. Super schön und super lecker.

Very nice/ small French restaurant with very friendly waiters and staff. Best bread/ butter in town and delicious seafood! Great location as well, near to the wasserturm and church.

Das "kleine Frankreich" mitten in Mannheim. Sehr feine Küche in einem äußerst ansprechendem Bistro, in dem wirklich alles stimmt. Wir waren Gestern (Silvester) hier zu einem speziellen Menü. Jeder Gang ein Traum - da passte ALLES, weil umsorgt von hinreißenden und individuell betreuenden Gastgebern. Auch kamen wir im Laufe des Abends mit so mach anderen Gästen auf angenehme Weise ins Gespräch. SOOOO kann das neue Jahr beginnen !!!

Gutes und leckeres Essen zu einem fairen Preis in schöner Atmosphäre.
