This was our first visit since the change in kitchen management from Niclas Nussbaumer to Fabian Obergfell. Our expectations were high, we were incredibly excited. This small hotel (10 rooms) is idyllically situated, an oasis of peace and tranquility. We have never spent such a pleasant night in such a cozy and comfortably furnished room. Finally, a room that wasn't overheated and the air wasn't bone dry. We slept like a dream, and not just because of the red wine… :) Our evening visit to the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant was remarkable in every respect. For four hours, we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the impeccable service, and the delicious, innovative, and creative cuisine of Fabian and his small, well-coordinated team. It was a pleasure to listen to the explanations of the aspiring sommelier, Sina. It was an unforgettable evening and an exceptional culinary experience. We are already looking forward to the spring menu!

First, the cuisine – absolutely excellent, imaginative, and varied. Add to that perfect and consistent service from people who clearly enjoy their work. Fantastic! The room was also stylishly furnished, perfectly complementing the overall ambiance. Unfortunately, due to the solid wood construction, it was noisy; every footstep could be heard from above. But otherwise: very beautiful, spacious, and modern rooms. So, all in all: highly recommended!

The hotel is idyllically situated, boasts a beautiful garden, and is also cozy inside, especially the lounge. The sauna and jacuzzi were another highlight. We enjoyed the friendly shuttle service from Schluchsee train station. The staff was very warm and welcoming, and we felt completely at ease. Breakfast and the evening snack were excellent, all of very high quality. On our last evening, we dined at the restaurant and enjoyed a wonderful menu with superb service. We would love to return.

A beautiful, upscale hotel with a gourmet restaurant, housed in a beautifully renovated old mill. Guests have access to a sauna with a relaxing, living-room-like lounge, which can be booked privately by the hour. Apart from a few minor details, everything was wonderful. The breakfast was superb.

Dining here is a truly special experience. It's also lovely that the chefs are integrated into the service and are so close to the customers. However, we would appreciate a more harmonious and relaxed atmosphere in the service. Personally, we would have preferred a buffet breakfast to à la carte.

We really enjoyed it. Everything (hotel and restaurant) is run with great attention to detail. The hotel's decor is very tasteful (thankfully not at all stylish) but rather in keeping with the location. Lots of wood and light-colored furniture, and, somewhat rare, very good lighting. In a word: cozy! The restaurant is located within the hotel. There's a menu with "upgrades" for an additional charge. It was extremely good! All the courses were perfectly coordinated. The staff are motivated and friendly. We are thrilled!

I was particularly impressed by the lovingly and carefully landscaped garden, which invites you to linger and breathe deeply. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly, accommodating, and yet wonderfully unpretentious – you immediately feel welcome, almost like you're staying with friends. The family atmosphere permeates the entire stay. A special highlight were the small, personalized touches: letters on your bed upon arrival, with the menu, and a morning greeting with excursion tips and the weather forecast for the day. Details like these make all the difference – and make your stay unforgettable. You should also definitely book a table in the restaurant, as the food is a work of art, with great attention to detail and creative touches. Every bite was a small explosion of flavor – perfectly balanced aromas, surprising nuances, simply magnificent.

Our second visit to the mill. The menu was perfect; the sea bass with saffron vinaigrette, fennel, and artichoke was sensational; the trout and turbot were a delight. The main course was a perfectly roasted duck breast with blackberry, pumpkin, and savoy cabbage. Both desserts were not too sweet and very aromatic. In short: it would be worth a second star for us! The wine pairing was perfectly matched; it couldn't be better. A big compliment to Sina at this point. The staff was attentive but not intrusive; there's a great atmosphere, and you can feel that the team does everything with passion and joy. We'd love to come back and have already booked our next visit.

A beautiful, small but very fine hotel, with top-notch service and a delicious, personalized breakfast. We were also impressed by the Michelin-starred restaurant, which is very innovative with local influences and offers a wonderful wine journey to accompany each course.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. From the start, Julie at the front desk was warm, kind, and incredibly helpful with both the booking process and throughout my visit. Even the drive over was pleasant, setting the tone for what turned out to be a wonderful experience. The hotel itself felt both personal and accommodating. It wasn’t crowded, yet the atmosphere was lively while still relaxed. The bedding was luxuriously soft and high-quality, and I appreciated thoughtful touches like turn-down service and the beautifully written personalized notes left for me at arrival, dinner, bedtime, and breakfast. Dining was a highlight. Dinner featured a pigeon ragout that stood out with its distinctive and memorable flavor. Since I don’t drink alcohol, I was especially impressed with the mocktails—each one unique and creative, far beyond the typical nonalcoholic options. Breakfast was equally indulgent, with a full spread that included Ossetra caviar over truffled scrambled eggs, a truly delightful start to the day. Altogether, the experience was personal, indulgent, and refreshingly memorable.

A truly wonderful experience all around. Starting with the stylishly renovated mill and the beautifully landscaped garden, it continues seamlessly with the friendly staff. We had pleasant conversations and were well looked after. And last but not least, of course, the incredibly impressive 7-course menu. We had the vegetarian menu and were surprised and delighted by a perfectly thought-out menu, including a non-alcoholic beverage pairing. P.S.: The snacks as an alternative for the evening and the breakfast are also of the highest quality. We'll definitely see you again!

This was truly a perfect meal. Every course was truly sophisticated and absolutely culinary. The cuisine is worthy of more than one star. We felt the wine pairing could have been improved. Personally, we would have chosen some wines differently to accompany the courses. 3 out of 5 didn't impress us. In our opinion, there's room for improvement. The service from the ladies was excellent. The ambiance was also excellent. We would gladly return.

The menu was indescribable. Even simple things like the wood-fired bread were a revelation in terms of taste. What the kitchen and service offered us was worth every single euro, even though it was actually way over our budget. Of course, breakfast also deserves a mention. Our stay was made truly special by Fabian Obergfell's fine dining—a menu full of finesse, personality, and balance. And best of all: Fabian wasn't just in the kitchen, he was also there serving—very hands-on, down-to-earth. The entire team is visibly passionate about their work, relaxed, very attentive, and simply pleasant. For us, it was an all-around harmonious experience—small, fine, and special. It was an all-round successful stay. Only the room presented a few tripping hazards, such as the entrance to the room and the bathroom access. There were invisible steps in each one. Especially if you need to "get out" at night. Otherwise, it was great and very quiet. It wasn't our first time there and certainly won't be our last. The dinner with wine pairing in the restaurant was also excellent. Highest praise and appreciation!!! The only thing is that they should have been a bit more conservative with the salt in some dishes. Overall, we were extremely impressed. The wines paired perfectly. We look forward to our next visit.

The only thing that comes across as a bit artificial is the informal "du" (formal) between staff and guests. The entire team is dedicated to the complete satisfaction of its guests and achieves this goal through friendliness and impeccable service. We have visited the mill four times, are delighted every time, and will definitely return.

A beautifully located boutique hotel. I was staying nearby and had dinner in the gourmet restaurant. Absolutely top-notch and highly recommended. The service was super attentive and friendly, the cuisine was of the highest standard, and the attention to detail was absolute, from the house to the food on the plate. I hope I'll be in the area again soon, otherwise I'll probably have to travel again just for that. The non-alcoholic accompaniments are particularly worth mentioning, as they've really put a lot of thought into them. Not just non-alcoholic versions of any alcoholic beverage, but rather something unique created with a lot of love and imagination, from the homemade spruce tea in a spruce honey spritz to the outstanding accompaniment of the pigeon breast with black tea, salted prune, and sour cherry – they've really put a lot of thought into this. On the plate, small works of art that are actually too good to eat, but only then do they reveal their true artistry! Visually stunning, but the taste is amazing! The Café de Paris foam with the trout (which was cooked to perfection) was so good that even in a Michelin-starred restaurant, you can forget your good manners and simply enjoy the plate with a slice of the delicious wood-fired bread until the last drop. Outstanding! That sums it up quite well.

It's a very intimate hotel, where the relationship with not only the hosts (and that's what the hotel staff really is!) but also with the other guests is very relaxed. Everyone is very accommodating. It's not a noisy or stiff luxury, but rather a family atmosphere that thrives on the quality of each individual employee in this wonderful hotel. The rooms are minimalist and lovingly furnished, and the hotel itself gives the impression of being at home, where you are welcome rather than a temporary guest. The breakfast, the lounge, and the garden invite you to take your time, stay, and enjoy the moment. I skipped dinner in the restaurant on this visit, but will definitely make up for it next time. This lovely little hotel is situated in a beautiful landscape above Lake Schluchsee. We felt completely at home there; the team is very welcoming. The hotel has character and style, is comfortably furnished, and is immaculately clean. The room and beds were also nice and comfortable. The chef, Fabian Obergfell, impressed us across the board; we had a wonderful evening and would gladly return.

We visited Marius and his team at the mill again. The atmosphere is still very welcoming and pleasant. The attentive staff provide loving care. The beautifully landscaped swimming pond complements the wonderful atmosphere at the mill. You're simply "away from it all," which is very pleasant.

My partner found this charming hotel near Schluchsee, where we had planned to hike. The hotel and its gardens are magnificent. The rooms are very beautiful, except for the bathroom, which is a bit small and old-fashioned with its shower stall. When I booked, I was delighted to discover that the Mühle restaurant has two Michelin stars. We were welcomed by Chef Fabian Obergfell and had the best meal of our lives. Everything was delicious, from the appetizers to the petits fours, the seven-course menu, and the wine pairing. P.S.: Fluency in German is a plus for a complete interaction with the chef and team, but you can do without it and simply enjoy the culinary experience.

We were there for dinner and didn't stay overnight. The food was fantastic, and our special requests were accommodated. Whether the new chef will keep his second star remains to be seen, but he's guaranteed one. What really annoyed us, though, was the price of water. We had one bottle of water, but in the end, we were charged €22, as they charge a flat rate of €11 per person. This was never communicated beforehand, which is a) excessively priced and b) an absolute no-go without prior communication.

Our stay at the Hotel Mühle Schluchsee was a few days ago now – but we are still completely inspired by our time at this wonderful place. Even though we only stayed overnight, it had the relaxing effect of several days, as we immediately felt at home in this authentic, uniquely beautiful Black Forest atmosphere. We were very well looked after by the young, motivated, and friendly team, and we were able to enjoy the relaxed, yet high-class ambience in a beautiful, spacious hotel room decorated in modern Black Forest style with a large balcony. The highlight of our stay was definitely the evening dinner in the hotel's own restaurant, Mühle Schluchsee, where Fabian Obergfell and his team created an outstanding culinary experience, blending the finest craftsmanship and culinary art into a unique work of art. Without pretensions and with a friendly, open manner, we were served by the head chef himself, who explained his creations to us. Here, you'll truly get a unique Black Forest experience (including a hearty, hearty breakfast and wellness facilities with a Jacuzzi and sauna) at an excellent price-performance ratio that will leave a lasting impression. We'll definitely be back!

We celebrated the confirmation of our youngest son (16) and the birthday of our eldest son. The menu was very successful, magnificent, and the stars are coming. The service is excellent and very attentive! The breakfast was hearty, generous, and we lacked nothing.

The connection to the Black Forest and its nature is palpable in everything! Very authentic, pleasantly unfussy, relaxed and yet at the same time attentive, a quiet place with plenty of life! ...and of course, there are no words to describe the restaurant's achievements: the art is to enjoy without comparison...simply marvel!

My daughter and I really enjoyed it and we enjoyed a really nice meal. Thank you. We will definitely come again.

Great house, top cuisine and service in a very nice environment

Lovingly furnished, quiet hotel.

The small Hotel Mühle am Schluchsee is an absolute place to feel good and as soon as you step through the door you are in your own world that allows you to relax! The rooms are cozy and authentically furnished with the appropriate level of comfort. The special charm lies in the creaking wooden floors, the low ceilings and crooked walls; old and modern meet and complement each other perfectly. The mill's entire service team is very warm and attentive, you feel wonderfully looked after. And the garden area is an oasis of peace with many cozy seating areas and a great natural swimming pond. I would particularly like to highlight the breakfast service. There is no buffet and you don't miss it because you order a la carte the day before and the offering leaves nothing to be desired. Above all, it is completely packaging-free, very important these days!! We can fully recommend the Hotel Mühle! You have to see and experience it!

A very successful weekend. The entire Mühlen team is incredible (nice, friendly, helpful, competent, courteous, technically good). The experience in the 2* restaurant was the crowning glory of the whole thing. Incredibly loving, perfectly crafted, beautifully presented - my additional highlight was the restaurant manager's playlist 🤩.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely perfect! The staff is exceptionally friendly, courteous and always strives to give guests an unforgettable experience. We were impressed by the hotel concept: the jacuzzi and the beautifully landscaped swimming pond fit harmoniously into the beautiful property and create a relaxed, special atmosphere. The rooms were also impressive – a successful mix of modern comfort and stylish, classic elements. We would also like to particularly highlight the great accommodation for bicycles - extremely well thought out and ideal for cyclists. The local people are doing a great job. You can feel that people work here with heart and passion. We would definitely like to come back!
