We'd actually like to give it 5 stars. But we've been there so many times and keep coming back for the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food and quality are just not up to scratch. The schnitzel is oily. The Aperol Spritz comes with stale sparkling wine. The pizza tastes rather subpar. The food isn't really that impressive. The prices are quite high, though. The service is quite good, with room for improvement. Often, you wait forever for someone to come. The atmosphere is, of course, fantastic, with a view.

As always, very, very tasty, children are treated very well here too.

Definitely worth a recommendation.

We were there again for the first time in over 10 years. I have to say, I remembered the restaurant as being very rustic. That's definitely not the case anymore. The menu has also been updated to reflect the new decor, and the drinks and dishes are correspondingly expensive. The service was very good, always friendly, and very good with children. We all had pizzas, which both the kids and us enjoyed. Crispy crust, nice fluffy crust, and just the right toppings. Top! We deducted points for the playground, which is currently closed. Some of the equipment probably needs to be overhauled. It was actually the reason we ended up here that evening, so we were very disappointed. The tiramisu was too creamy, not moist enough, and contained too little mascarpone, but it was beautifully presented. Given the selection and prices, I think it's "brave" not to offer card payments. With dry-aged specialties starting at €37.50 per portion, it's a mystery to me who carries that kind of cash these days. Especially when hiking. The view is, of course, phenomenal. Nevertheless, we had a lovely and pleasant evening. Update 2025: Playground open again, but partially unusable. Update: Playground fully functional again. Unfortunately, there was no pizza today because the pizza maker went missing.

We went to the Fernblick today. Not only the view, but also the food was excellent. Unfortunately, EC card payments are not accepted. A clearly visible sign at the entrance informed us of this.

Beautiful view, but absolutely disastrous service: table not prepared, very long waits for drinks and food (90 minutes for the food), very small portions (see picture), and no card payments accepted. Complaints were met with very unfriendly reactions – I won't be going there again.

We had reserved a table for nine people (one guest was unable to make it), but when we arrived at the scheduled time, the table wasn't ready and still had to be set up. We waited half an hour for our first drinks, and an hour and a half for the food for eight people. The service was extremely poor overall; the drinks were very slow to arrive, and the food was served at such long intervals that the first people were almost finished while the last ones still had to wait (the schnitzel portions were very modest, by the way). To make matters worse, they didn't accept card payments, which we were only informed of when we were paying, with a reference to a sign at the entrance. The staff simply explained that it was the boss's wish and there was nothing they could do. When we complained about this, the boss even asked us why we were complaining so much, and she told us we shouldn't come back. In conclusion: The view may be beautiful, but the service is a disaster. We certainly won't be coming back and absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant.

We used to come here often and today we were back after a long time. Disaster. Lots of employees but no one really knew what to do. Waited ages to place orders. Waited 1.5 hours for the food, children's portions which didn't taste particularly good. Apparently two chefs were unavailable, which definitely doesn't justify the lousy service. Tables kept being swapped. When we ordered dessert we asked for the bill straight away because we didn't want to wait that long again - we were told no. Waited 30 minutes for dessert. We then waited ages again for the bill and wanted to pay by card, but the waiter pointed out that there was a sign at the front saying that this was not possible. Luckily one of us had cash for everyone. We then looked to see where the sign was - surprise, there wasn't one. These days you could share such information on a website, which unfortunately isn't the case either.

The experience at the restaurant was disappointing. The server was unfriendly and seemed disinterested in our concerns. After waiting 20 minutes, I asked for my food while everyone else at the table had already received theirs. The server replied that it would be right away, without acknowledging that my meal had been forgotten. After another 10 minutes of waiting, during which everyone else had already finished eating, my food still hadn't arrived. This lack of attention and unprofessional handling of the situation contributed to a highly unsatisfying visit.

An absolute disaster. We'd barely sat down when, after less than 15 seconds, the waiter wanted to take our drink order. When we said we needed a moment, all we got was an annoyed "No, I have to take it now." After five minutes, he immediately wanted to take the food, even though no one had finished. The waiter's comment: "I don't have much time, I have to run around." The meal itself was also a disaster: One dish was completely forgotten. Only after almost 60 minutes and repeated inquiries did it become clear that it had actually been lost. The excuse: "They're just people who forget things sometimes." When the food finally arrived, it was completely different from what we ordered and, to be honest, tasted like a train station snack bar. The only plus point: the view. But you don't need a restaurant for that; a picnic area would be a better option here. Conclusion: Never again. If you go anyway, it's your own fault.

A very beautiful location that lives up to its name. Excellent food, the dry-aged steaks are a delight. Service is very friendly and competent. One star deducted because card payments are not accepted at any time. Anyone who thinks of clichés when they think of an Italian restaurant that accepts cash payments is a scoundrel...

Probably the worst restaurant far and wide. We arrived today at 2:15 p.m., were seated on the terrace, and after about 10 minutes, a waiter came and took our drinks and food (the menu was already on the table, so we knew what we wanted). After a whopping 90 minutes, we asked about the food. The answer was simply, "WE'RE BUSY—COME!" After another 30 minutes, we complained to the manager, who told us there was a case of illness. When we pointed out that the waitress might then point out that the food would take longer than an hour, the manager replied, "...that you can't teach these idiots how to do that." (Then why does she employ people like that?) When we asked about our food, she personally took care of it. The result was appalling: half-cooked pasta—absolutely unseasoned—and even more of a child's portion than normal. After another complaint, we were served a "normal portion"—also unseasoned. Another complaint resulted in a tasteless dish. There was no apology from the restaurant. Not even an espresso or something similar as an attempt to make amends, but a hefty bill. ABSOLUTELY AVOID, IN OUR VIEW

Over 1 hour 30 waited and flippant conditions

Great view, terrible service! We had to ask four times if our table would be cleaned by the previous diners, and we waited an hour and a half for our food! The food was a bit like canteen fare; the schnitzel was just fried in the fryer. Totally disappointing!

A rollercoaster of emotions...and, as you can see from the other reviews, it all depends on the hosts' moods on the day. We first came here 20 years ago and were very satisfied with the food on several occasions. The location and the view are unbeatable, of course, and the ambiance is otherwise pleasant. However, even then, we often had to wait a very long time for food or service in general. Then, as now, the decisive factor for not coming back is the unfriendly tone and "service" of the manager, who was so unfriendly even on the phone when trying to make a reservation that we won't be coming back. Everyone has a stressful day at work, no question, but service can be improved...it's a shame about this place.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks, and over an hour for a plate of pasta and a pizza. The taste wasn't amazing, and the quality was okay... The place is completely disorganized.

I've been to this restaurant several times and had a good impression up until then, especially the tasteful ambiance. Today, however, I was disappointed. We had to wait 1.5 hours for our food because they seemed to have forgotten about us. When I asked, they said they would take care of us, but they kept us waiting. I told the staff that the wait was too long. The meal itself was delicious. Afterward, we wanted dessert. They brought us the menu, and then we were ignored for another 25 minutes. After that, it was too late for dessert. Conclusion: The team could have earned significantly more money from us if we had been served attentively. We would have at least expected an apology for the delay in the form of a limoncello or something similar. At this point, I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

Poor customer service We waited half an hour after asking for our order until someone finally came. (Fernblick had maybe 3-4 occupied tables.) The food took over an hour, and some of the pizzas were very burnt. You feel very ripped off, and even though the view is great, I unfortunately can't recommend it. A sign outside says debit card payments aren't accepted - it worked in the end, but we couldn't get the bill printed. It all sounds a bit strange!

A very tasty 700g T-bone steak. The service is prompt and very friendly. We'll be back.

A distant view: on foot, by bike, or by car... always worth the trip. Whether outside on the terrace with a truly unique view or in the dining room. A small but fine menu, excellent quality and preparation, and consistently friendly service. We've been coming here for several years and will continue to find our way.

We were dining on the terrace today when a gust of wind ripped the parasol at our table to pieces, sending metal poles flying. A woman at the next table suffered a head injury. Even the paramedics came. The manager, at least for us, didn't ask if everything was okay, and he didn't give us anything on the house. Instead, he later told us that the parasol had already been broken. The other parasols at our second and third tables were then closed without comment. This kind of treatment of guests is unbelievable. That was definitely the last time I went there.

Mediocre quality at premium prices with a stunning view. A drink on the terrace: would gladly return. Food: Not really. We ended up with a horrendous bill because we hadn't asked for the price of the daily special beforehand (a very expensive mistake!). The fact that card payments aren't accepted yet again leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Anyone who thinks this is a scoundrel is a scoundrel. I like to pay good money for good food. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here.

More show than substance... Great view, rather relaxed, unobtrusive service, and the food didn't really impress me. They have a meat drying cabinet with a lot of dry-aged meat, and the rump steak is really only mediocre. Well, if the quality isn't right to begin with, it won't get any better through the aging process. The service could be a bit more welcoming, and the fact that I can only pay in cash here is a bit out of date. All in all, the restaurant only benefits from its great location.

We visited the Gasthaus Fernblick for the first time today—and it will definitely be our last. We can't give a single star for either the food (even the minimal selection) or the service. The ambiance of the spacious terrace, surrounded by impressive olive trees, and the magnificent view were top-notch! Apparently, the owner has changed again, and the restaurant was always good, but this time we didn't like the food at all. The pizza is better at a kebab shop. So the kitchen needs a lot of changes. The service, the atmosphere, is GOOD.

Very delicious with a very nice view. We would love to come back... Short update, it still tastes very good and the view is still awesome. Unfortunately it has become very expensive...that's why "only" 3 stars.

We returned this year for the first time to enjoy the magnificent view, the food, and the service that had always been perfect for us. Unfortunately, despite the manageable number of guests, the service wasn't adequate. It started with dirty wine glasses. The entire selection that had been stored on ice outside was replaced after we complained. Next, I was served an empty glass. I thanked her in surprise, hoping to get the wine poured as well. NO, there was nothing. When I asked the manager, who was serving wine at the next table, if my wine had been forgotten, she turned around and walked away. I followed her with my empty glass so as not to confront her about this in front of all the guests. She and her husband then informed me that the glasses weren't dirty, but that the ice cubes on which the wine glasses had been stored were to blame! But you could definitely wipe away the dust/dirt inside the glass. Anyway: Usually, the guest gets a clean glass with its contents and that's it, right? But no, the discussion took place with the guest on the terrace in front of the other guests present. The wine was brought later without a word, and the food arrived gradually. Unfortunately, the quality wasn't what we were used to and expected, and no effort was made to accommodate us otherwise. The waiter apologized for the inconvenience when we took the cash in the dining room (since we paid by card). But that was unfortunately it.

Unfortunately, it was only mediocre. The croutons in the aglio e olio were no longer crispy, but hard. The Fernblick salad was drowning in dressing, and I like normal when they don't skimp on it. In summary, unfortunately, it's not really worth the price; only the view is above average.

We were there for the first time yesterday, and it won't be the last. The negative reviews initially made us cautious. Dining room was nice and upscale. The waiters were extremely nice and friendly, and they asked all the questions that were appropriate for the price, including whether it tasted good, anything else, was everything okay, etc. We felt right at home. Both meals were of high quality. Tasted like Italian food, and the ingredients were definitely not "off the shelf." We immediately booked a table for a week later. The view was, of course, fantastic.

The entrance to the inn is also easy to miss - better signage would be helpful here. It's a shame, because the potential is there.

We ate there once today and never again. The Italian starter for 2 people at 29.00 was a rip-off: 3 slices of raw ham, 2 slices of coppa, 3 slices of spicy sausage, some buffala cheese, 1 tbsp. Black olives and some pickled artichoke. Oh yes, 2 tiny onions from the jar. No melon, no bruschetta, not even some tomatoes or anything green. When I complained they said: We are not allowed to hang up anymore! I know that much, much better!!! View was very good.

I was recently back in a restaurant with my partner after years and felt like having a steak. When the steak finally came, I was a little surprised and thought it was maybe a joke. In the picture you can see the size of the steak and the number of fries. Price performance is really underground and not correct for 40€! In addition, the tables next to our table were rearranged while we were eating and so there was no pleasant atmosphere while eating. I'm disappointed and won't be coming back.

After years, we (6 people) gave Fernblick a new chance. But as so many previous speakers have already written - the locals avoid this restaurant. But the restaurant employees (especially the owners) don't necessarily show the positive and friendly side towards the customers. What a shame ☹️…. But as we all know, this can be done much better...

We've been here dozens of times and are usually very satisfied. The food is always delicious! Unfortunately, the slightest criticism is repeatedly met with dismissiveness, which I find truly unfortunate and anything but appreciative or service-oriented. Today was our first visit this year, and since our son wanted ice cream, we asked for it. It wasn't on the menu, so we didn't know the price. We got a total of five mini scoops, which we ate, of course. At the next opportunity, we paid and asked how much the ice cream cost, as the scoops were very small. They told us €1.50 and replied that they should have spoken up immediately so we could find a solution. I don't understand why it was too late to bring this up? If they had wanted to find a solution, this would have been the right moment. Especially since we didn't know the price beforehand, so we couldn't judge the value for money! It might have been okay for €1 per scoop. The bill even showed €2 (!) per scoop. I took a photo of this next to the ice cream scoop – judge for yourself whether our comment was justified. As we left, they added that silence wouldn't make us or them any wiser. Sorry, we didn't remain silent, and we didn't get anything out of it except a bad taste in our mouths.

We wanted to order a table on the terrace by phone. We were informed that they do not accept reservations for the terrace. On site we found that many tables were occupied and the rest of the tables were reserved. Even though the reservation was an hour later, we weren't allowed to drink coffee. When I asked the boss about it, she complained that work morale was bad and she couldn't provide more tables. The guests at the surrounding tables were also asked to prevent anyone from sitting down. We have been there several times and have always been satisfied. Today February 14th (Valentine's Day 2025) we were unfortunately very disappointed. A week ago I reserved the table by phone and I wasn't told that there would be a themed evening with a limited menu, at least that's what I know from other restaurants. On a positive note, it should be mentioned that the decoration was very nice and in keeping with the theme of Valentine's Day. When we arrived at the table, we were presented with the menu. When we asked if only these dishes were available, we were told that there were only the dishes listed there and that the starters could not be canceled, only the dessert was optional. My girlfriend and I were a bit surprised because we had of course already been looking forward to the dishes we had selected from the online menu. We briefly considered leaving again, but out of decency and because we didn't feel like worrying about anything else to eat, we stayed (incidentally, we noticed that other guests felt the same way and some of them also left). Unfortunately we had to ask different waitresses three times to pay until we could pay. The food was good but just not what we had imagined for that evening. All in all, I can't avoid giving this evening 2 stars. We will still come back because the food is always good, but we will probably avoid Fernblick in the future on Valentine's Day.

Pro: Ambiance and view Cons: I was really disappointed with the food. A rump steak medium tough like leather. As a starter, black tiger prawns which turned out to be tiny prawns were an absolute disgrace for the price. Then the head waiter shits on the nice temp right at the table, simply impossible. Unfortunately no recommendation, we won't be coming back!

Just good! We really like the atmosphere, especially when you can sit on the terrace under one of the many olive trees and watch the sunset. But even when the weather isn't great, you can still sit inside. Yesterday I had pork belly on sweet and spicy lentils... A poem! But you can also enjoy the other dishes on the menu. An absolute recommendation.

After years of abstinence, it was time to eat here again. It definitely wasn't a wrong decision. Everyone at the table was so happy. Top selection on the map. Superbly prepared and presented. The service is natural, friendly and competent. The ambience surprising. P.s. the toilets are also very clean. It's worth taking a look into the distance from the terrace and from the parking lot, even in the dark. Note: I'm usually reserved. But everything worked out for me here.

Not recommended, waiting 45 minutes for a simple pasta dish and overpriced.

After 3 years we gave the restaurant another chance. I remembered that the portions were quite small. The ambience is and remains really nice, the food is of very good quality. Unfortunately the portions are far too small for me. I'm willing to spend money on quality, no question about it, I just want to be full. The Iberico cutlet for €23.90 with rosemary potatoes and a bowl of salad was tasty and good quality (maybe take it down 3 minutes earlier). I would have liked a salad that was larger (mine was the size of a larger coffee cup) and not just five quarters of a potato in terms of the filling side dish. The pumpkin and coconut soup was also very tasty. The service was attentive and friendly. The drinks were good (cellar beer could have been a little colder). So far everything is good and certainly very suitable for spending a nice evening with the person you love, but unfortunately it's different...

When it came to service, we noticed that they were being paid for friendliness, because it wasn't convincing / we had reserved with 8 people, unfortunately 2 canceled, and then the waiter immediately initiated a renovation, even though we were all already seated, and gave the one table back Put it away and the six of us sat at a table for four on a half-empty terrace / The menu was carelessly thrown onto the table. The food was OK although the price/performance ratio wasn't really right here. The steak we ordered wasn't very good in terms of the quality of the meat and a schnitzel Parmigiani definitely looks different than what came. Pizza was good (but an Italian should be able to do that too)

Went there with a larger group and enjoyed the great atmosphere. However, the food was very poor for expensive money. Schnitzel and beef strips (if they were found in the salad) were tough and not edible. The children's schnitzels consisted only of fat and gristle. The service was anything but attentive. We waited in vain for two hours for the food, while food was already being served around us, even though people had ordered after us. After two hours without food being served we left. Of course there was a lot of drinking while we waited, but the waitress only noticed us after several waves and shouts. It would probably not be a problem to refuse guests if the capacity is full. Other guests waited in vain for 20 minutes for a waiter to order drinks and also left. When we complained, we were told that we were the only guests who were dissatisfied. There was a sign on site that said “No debit card payments”. After the mood changed, it was also possible to pay by card without any problems... The aperitif and wines as well as the starter were politely taken off the bill and we only paid for the remaining drinks. The last time we ate at Fernblick, the waiting time for the food was very long despite there being little crowd and the pizza base was burnt. That was the very last time we ate here. Not recommended!

The food was delicious but we, 12 people, had to wait 30 minutes to order before we were told we would like something more to drink. Then another 10 minutes until we had the drinks. When billing, I asked whether there would be 2 schnapps for the long waiting time. Lt. The boss would have given her something but because she asked, there was nothing. On the bill, the schnapps drunk beforehand was not in the system. The boss didn't want to charge us for this. People asked whether that was true and were told by the boss: I just explained something to them! Sorry, that doesn't work at all!!! As nice as the evening was, this unemphathetic, unfriendly, didactic manner towards the guest is not acceptable at all!!! I will advertise this house, but definitely not in a positive way! An etiquette seminar for this person would be appropriate!

One thing in advance, the scenery and the view are absolutely beautiful, 5 stars for that. The food didn't convince us and the prices certainly didn't. Starter platter for 4 people 50, - (!), a few things on it - counted. The steak meat for 3 people (1 x 600 g and 1 x 400 g) ended up being maybe 180 max. 200 g of meat for each person), the noodles were cold and the portions were very small. The six of us paid over 400 euros and it wasn't worth it at all. None of us were full so we went home and cooked ourselves something.

Unique view over the Kinzigtal and the Ronneburg hills, the Odenwald low mountain ranges (at the very edge), Taunus, Vogelsberg and Spessart. Here restaurateurs can learn about service, customer friendliness, organization, quality, etc. Haven't been there in a while, but it's just as good as it was years ago. Simply top!!

Everything just fits here. The location and view are fantastic, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. We all got our money's worth. Portion sizes not too big and not too small. Everything tasted great. We'd love to come back.

We came here spontaneously by bike. Great view from the large terrace. Pizza was well done. The pepperoni sausage on it wasn't quite to my taste and had a too sour note, but it was ok. The squid arms with the pea puree were really good, the baguette with it was really hard and dry, you couldn't eat it and left it lying there. I was happy that I could help myself to the neighbor's pizza to satisfy my hunger. After almost everyone had finished eating, we were brought salt and pepper (?!?). When we checked out we were asked if everything was tasty. In the interest of improving a few things in the future, we mentioned that the baguette was rock hard. Answer: only came this morning from the Italian restaurant (hm ok, were we wrong and the bread couldn't have been hard and dry?! Probably our mistake). When ordering the burger we asked if the meat should be fried medium. That's how we wanted it to be. It came through completely. It still tasted good but as I said it wasn't medium for a long time. When we said this in a very friendly manner and also added that it was still tasty, the man turned around and simply left without comment... I personally found that quite disrespectful after paying.

Food great, staff mostly friendly

Hinter dem Namen eines Ausflugslokals verbirgt sich in Wirklichkeit ein sehr guter und vor allem authentischer Italiener. Sehr coole location, der Ausblick von der riesigen Terrasse ist genial, allerdings die Speisekarte überzeugt noch viel mehr. Leckere Pasta-Gerichte, eine perfekte Pizza, aber auch ein bisschen fine-dining ist möglich. Dry aged Steaks vom feinsten werden ebenfalls angeboten. Sommelier Heiko berät über die gute Weinauswahl, am besten sind aber die eigenen Weine vom Weinberg in Michelbach. Ganz aktuell: Chef Fabio kreiert jetzt auch einen eigenen Gin. Ich bin inzwischen Überzeugungstäter und kann dieses Lokal nur weiterempfehlen.

Finding such a beautiful restaurant in the middle of the forest is great and then the beautiful view on the outdoor terrace means there is a small playground for kids :) The waiters are very friendly It's best to see for yourself.

Very modern, chic and high quality furnishings. Solid atmosphere. Friendly and competent employees. Here the boss is in charge and it shows. Sitting on the terrace with a distant view is also very comfortable and cozy. This is very large for probably more than 100 guests. The food (sharp fillet) was excellent, as was the red wine. There are also parking spaces just in front of the restaurant. Attention: On the day we were there you could only pay in cash

Great ambience and very tasty food. From the terrace you have a fantastic view. We recommend.

We would have liked to stop in, but the sign saying “card payment not possible” made us turn back. Unfortunately, we only had our cell phone with us on our hike.
