Absolutely our new favorite restaurant! Great service, really good food, and all in all, a fantastic evening. We'll definitely be back; I especially recommend the salmon. Especially if you're looking for something a little more elegant, without the pretentious clientele or staff.

We were here for a private party. Good drinks, fast servers, and good food.

The food was okay, but nothing more. It's actually a nice ambiance, if you don't get a table with a view of the kitchen. The curtain is down, and you look into the bright light of the kitchen. Why didn't we get one of the other free tables? The service was okay, but at the very latest, when we criticized it, we would have expected that we, as guests, wouldn't have been asked the question: How else are we supposed to get into the kitchen? What would you suggest as a solution? We didn't want to argue after the criticism; a simple "we'll talk about it internally and do better so our guests feel better" would have been enough. We won't be back; Cologne offers more for the money!

Beautiful location, delicious food. The outdoor chairs were uncomfortable. The tables were uneven, causing the beer to spill. I learned my lesson. No concessions for a beer when there were 14 people dining there.

The location is great, but it wasn't as good as we expected. Everything worked out fine so far, but at this price point, it could have been a bit better and more personal. It lacked that final touch to give it full marks. Perhaps I'm being too critical, because we were among the first to order from the lunch menu and the fish we wanted wasn't available.

La Fonda combines classic cuisine with modern influences – an exciting mix that's definitely worth a visit. The prices are high, but justified. To take it to the next level on the culinary ladder, however, a touch more refinement in some dishes would be welcome. The cocktails are tastefully composed, and the tuna ceviche is impressive. The "Himmel un Ääd" (Heaven and the Sky) is creatively interpreted – a successful idea that could perhaps benefit from a little more freshness. Vegetarians will also find their money's worth: the oven-baked cauliflower is a real highlight. The crème brûlée is simply divine. The service is first-class, and the atmosphere leaves nothing to be desired – whether inside or (with a bit of luck) outside on the terrace.

One of Cologne's most beautiful restaurants, a fantastic wine list with some great treasures. A great sommelier! Congratulations on your work. A truly upscale and pleasant atmosphere. The food is more than solid. But it could be more creative and daring at times. The only drawback: the poorly balanced music system. The sound comes from a corner, which is truly irritating and unpleasant for guests. And the coffee grinder could be better. It doesn't suit the espresso very well. I still love La Fonda no less.

Everything is just right: the food, the atmosphere, the service, the drinks, and especially the cocktails – you expect high standards, and you get it in every respect. Another positive: the dishes on the menu change every now and then, so even with a fairly limited menu and a few "perennial favorites," there's a good amount of variety if you're a frequent guest here. La Fonda is my first recommendation when someone asks me about an upscale restaurant in Cologne.

About four weeks ago, our team and I went to LaFonda for dinner and were absolutely thrilled. From the aperitif to the starter, main course, and digestif, everything was absolutely perfect. The service was simply fantastic, incredibly friendly, and very accommodating – I haven't experienced such excellent service in a long time. All thumbs up, and we would go back anytime. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice location, pleasant modern atmosphere, good service, delicious food….

The food and location are really nice, especially in summer with the open terrace. Service was an absolute disaster, we spontaneously drank two starters and two glasses of Weil shortly before the kitchen closed in the evening and therefore spent a relatively small amount. When I wanted to round up from 71€ to 75€ for both of us, the waiter told me not to take offense, but I could save the 4€ straight away and was urged to give more tips. Very strange situation that somewhat ruined a lovely visit at the end.

A really great restaurant with a great ambience! The service was extremely friendly and attentive, and the food was served quickly. The stylish designer pieces, such as the beautiful table lamps and the impressive artichoke lamps above the bar, give the room a very special atmosphere. The modern, industrial design creates an inviting yet elegant environment. An absolute must for everyone who appreciates good food and a stylish ambience!

La Fonda offers a delightful dining experience. We enjoyed a business dinner for a group of 15-20 people. The meal featured a comforting soup, a flavorful meat dish, and a delicious dessert. The wine selection was excellent, enhancing the overall experience. The atmosphere was charming, making it highly recommended for group gatherings!

We were here with 3 people on Valentine's Day. Basically, first of all: the food was very good, but the organization in the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired and doesn't do justice to the prices. It started off annoyingly, our reservation for 7:30 p.m. (reserved on the website) couldn't be found. We were then seated at one of the high tables and were all given an aperitif, (apparently) on the house. So far everything was fine at first, even if we had to wait about an hour for our table. The food came there very quickly and was really good, but the wine recommendation that was requested with the meal was only given/offered afterwards. Unfortunately, we only noticed afterwards that the aperitifs were included in the bill, which ultimately led me to this rating. It was basically a nice evening, but the circumstances surrounding it made the time spent there a bit miserable for me, especially that we ended up paying for the aperitifs, meaning we waited an hour for the table, didn't get any compensation for it, but basically paid on top of it.

Excellent food and great service. I felt in good hands. The cheesecake at the end was particularly outstanding. Gladly again at any time!

A solid Restuarant not including the price. But for about 50 € p.p. or more... one could expect a bit more "rafinesse". It was all nice and well made, but it lacked the "special something " Creme Brullee was the best I ever had! Arancini were underwhelming. Butter was very good, oil so so...

Aufmerksamer Service - allerdings passte der schlampige Look eines Obers nicht zu dem Stil des Restaurants. Wenn das Lokal voll ist wird es sehr laut, angeblich gibt es auch ruhigere Zonen. Nebenbei: wir hatten ein Gutscheinbuch; man schenkte uns das teurere Gericht - sehr großzügig!

Went there with 8 people and it was a nice experience in itself. The food is fantastic. Nicely presented and taste good. The ambience is also nice, but it is very loud. The service is fine, the waiters were great, but what's not so nice is the no-show fee... we left several hundred euros there and it's not like they had prepared anything or bought anything specifically for the people that were ultimately missing, then that would be understandable. Unfortunately, it's simply incomprehensible. It's a shame, although we had a pleasant evening, we probably won't come back.

Very nice reception, great service staff, super friendly. Great location! The food is good, tasty. The meatballs as a starter disappointed me, personally I find 2 meatballs and mustard boring. Unfortunately the acoustics were far too loud for us and someone kept bumping into my chair. The narrow seating meant there was no privacy. I wouldn't call this restaurant decelerating. Thanks to the very professional food runner, he made a very fresh and competent impression on us.

The food is really outstanding. However, the service mostly leaves a lot to be desired. Waiting 15 minutes for a Kölsch in a restaurant that wasn't full. Or the fact that with a large company that only drinks wine from bottles, you are recommended wine of which there are only a few bottles left and you then have to change the wine several times or the service staff have to be personally informed several times that nothing There is more to drink and needs to be topped up. Friendly reception, a modern ambience, but loud and restless in the train station hall style. Conversations are difficult. The composition of the card, loose pieces of paper on a clipboard, are not appropriate for the prices. Very unusual things on the menu for both food and drinks. If you like cucumber lemonade, you will be happy here. However, everything is very expensive. You can hardly go for less than €70. The 180g steak is served with bernaise sauce. When I asked for another sauce, I was told there was none. The steak that was ordered without sauce was still swimming in sauce, without asking. When the food was half finished, mayo and ketchup came for the fries. But the quality of the food was good. The service left a lot to be desired for the standard. When paying, it was shown three times how to enter a tip, then everything was booked separately in the cash register and then the next person collected it. When I asked if I could get a receipt, the blonde lady with the piercing said, "You could have said that straight away. But I won't be coming back.

Something special. La Fonda is an absolute recommendation. Beautifully located at the Gereon Monastery, you can escape the hustle and bustle of the big city and yet be in the middle of old Cologne. On the left is the old city archive in Gothic style, on the right is the impressive St. Gereon's Church. But to the restaurant, great and relaxed staff really delivers top service. You feel welcome at any time. The food is an absolutely skilful combination of modern cuisine, supplemented here and there with Cologne and Rhenish classics. Himmel und Ääd is an absolute recommendation. The offer is complemented by a great wine list. The prices are high and you have to expect around 100€ per person. But it's worth it. We love coming back again and again.

Very cool service and very good food!

Mr. Michael K. has created a total work of art together with Qvest and Kaune Contemporary. Let's come to La Fonda, which is probably supposed to be Spanish and can then be translated as an inn. I don't think it's a throwback to La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, a hotel. If La Fonda were considered Italian, it would be called Fundament, which would also fit. It comes from the Latin: fundus and can mean property, fundus cenae: main dish but also means drinking vessel, which can well explain the development of the Spanish and Italian meaning. Of course, Mr. K. has also placed some of his works of art here, which help create the ambience. Funny: The eye eats too (see photo). I really like the open kitchen. There's nothing to hide here. You don't eat alone here. Tables of different sizes allow for good conversation. The staff is incredibly friendly, quick, efficient when the guests are away, attentive to the wishes of those present. I'll leave the evaluation of the food to the other reviewers. I was here alone and will return with friends to lay the foundation for a perfect day at the inn.

We were at La Fonda yesterday. Generally a successful evening, but unfortunately not everything was right. Here are the details: Ambiance: Upscale and high-quality ambience. Great open bar in the center and hub of the action. This means it doesn't seem too quiet, but entertaining. More rustic style. Only the corner near the toilets seems a bit unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend a place there. It seems distant and not belonging. Different lighting mood, different ambience. For my taste, the tables were too narrow for a restaurant in this price range. Drinks: Perfect! Best Gin Basil Smash of my life as an aperitif. Also a really great wine list. For every budget, international, good selection, rarities. More than 5 stars. Food: Here is my deduction of two stars. Pastrami as a starter was dry. Visually appealing, but not of a high standard in terms of taste. The guinea fowl was also not as juicy as it could be, with the skin not being crispy. In addition, the carrots were only cooked but not glazed. Some pizzazz was missing. I would have liked a homemade dip with the fries. Service: The gentleman in our service was super attentive and more than friendly. Big praise. An older gentleman with a short beard. He made the evening a feel-good experience. Unfortunately he didn't collect, otherwise I would have tipped even more! Because of the food we wouldn't come back. For a drink or a glass of wine anytime. Giving it 3 stars wouldn't be fair given the overall package, although I've thought about it.

The staff was very friendly. Especially the sommelier, who gave us very nice and good advice and also gave us a few tips. The restaurant's interior is elegant, but still cozy. The food was quite good, the portions were quite large. On the whole the food was nicely presented. The wines and cocktail were very good. Mecker: When the restaurant is full, it gets very loud. The cocktail selection is unfortunately very small, despite the well-equipped bar. The truffle gougères were very tasty, but unfortunately there was no truffle to taste. The green asparagus was a bit bland and the potato gratin looked pretty shriveled. The food wasn't quite what I would expect given the price.

Wir hatten ein Abendessen mit 5 Personen reserviert. Leider war ein Gast krankheitsbedingt ausgefallen. Obwohl wir zu viert eine große Rechnung hatten, wurden wir zusätzlich mit 50€ No-show belastet, weil ein Gast fehlte. Diese Geschäftspraktik passt in ein negatives Gesamtbild. Erfreulicherweise findet man gutes Essen und freundliche Gastgeber anderswo in Köln!

We were probably the only guests who arrived by bike. ;-) But no matter what: the welcome and service were excellent and always very nice and accommodating. In addition to this feel-good factor, which is very important to me, the food was an absolute dream: artichoke bread salad to start, a fillet that couldn't be more tender and rounded off with crème brulee and sorbet - for me a 100% hit for a wonderful evening!

I give 5 out of 5, very delicious food and fantastic service. We went for dinner with some colleagues, had my main course dried aged fillet, it was extremely tasty. Service wise, ll waiters were very professional, friendly with a big smile and great respect. I strongly recommend this restaurant .. but book before you as they mostly fully booked.

We were looking forward to a lovely evening in this restaurant. Unfortunately, the start didn't go well: although the weather was great, tables were set outside and we had made reservations outside, we were told that eating inside was only possible today. Not really customer oriented from my point of view but it was fine. The service at the nice place at the counter was friendly and tried hard, but seemed very overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the advice on white was poor. When something was wrong with the food and it wasn't addressed at all, we thought we were in the wrong film. One course even had to be completely reversed and we were offered something else, nor was there even a response to it. Absolute no go in a restaurant with gourmet ambitions. The waitress at the bar was probably the only one who noticed that something was wrong and then mixed us two cocktails that were really world class. I would like to give it 5 stars for that alone. Unfortunately, for the terrible service and the mediocre food, more than 3 in total are not possible.

Restaurant is very, very nicely located, no annoying cars in front of the restaurant! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, not played like in many restaurants. The veal meatball is very tasty and very juicy. The price is also completely OK For the main course we had Himmel and Äd The mashed potatoes were very good. The black pudding is firm to the bite but still slightly juicy. Apples lie on top of the mashed potatoes. 30€ for the portion size is completely justified. Unfortunately only 4 out of 5 stars for the food, as my black pudding was unfortunately very dry, but the restaurant manager/somelier immediately came to meet me. It can always happen. The wine list is consistent and not too excessive. We'll definitely be back.

This is one of the few restaurants in cologne that hit the sweet spot of elegant but not too posh. The style feels fancy and yet relaxed. The food is delicious but not pretentious nor expensive. Service was really kind to us, giving us the quiet and comfy booth in the back, and they were checking on us all the time to see if we needed anything. Would recommend without hesitation.

Very nice place in a calm area and very nice Ambiente. Service is always excellent as also meals. They have also good selection on wines and make cocktails with some special touch.

We ate here for the second time now and were very satisfied both times. There are super delicious cocktails (and maybe take a Sippsert instead of dessert for dessert!) The food is of a high standard. The veal meatballs are amazing, the mashed potatoes are good and the black pudding itself is good, but not exceptional. The service was very friendly and attentive. We'll definitely come back again.

Overpriced and the portion size of the starter was outrageously small! For larger groups (10 people) a very limited choice of food. Just the right thing for Ms. Schicki and Mr. Micki.

We had a great evening with the family. Service was very friendly and attentive. We very much liked quality and presentation of the food. The food menu is not overly long but versatile and with a good variety including some more local classics as well as some more innovative creations. We were seated outside on a lovely summer evening - cannot imagine a nicer place in the center of Cologne. All in all, we found the price level adequate, acknowledging that it is probably more on the higher end of the range for Cologne. We would definitely go there again!

My favorite restaurant in Cologne 🫶🏻 The food (and also the non-alcoholic drinks) is a delight, but I would especially like to praise the excellent service! The last visit was on 7/23/24, unfortunately I don't have the name of the fantastic waiter. When making the reservation, I stated my gluten intolerance and allergies and the service employee assigned to us was well briefed and very attentive. His recommendations that evening (Seibling with pearl barley, gnocchi) were excellent and I would like to express my thanks.

Ambience and service are good. Food was disappointing for me - the gnocchi was particularly bland in taste. The price is also relatively expensive. €8.80 for a bottle of water is cheeky.

We had a very tasty and relaxing evening. Attentive service, fantastic food and an all-round successful evening that can be repeated. Thank you! It's lovely to sit outside with a view of Gereon's Monastery (the chairs aren't really comfortable, but you get a blanket). It's a bit noisy inside, but a nice atmosphere with a great, long bar.

A nice atmosphere, quiet, very courteous staff, sometimes a bit overly friendly, but the chairs are a disaster for such a place. At least on the outside. They are uncomfortable, cold and noisy when moved. The menu has featured the classics for years, plus a few new dishes. You could work on that. The prices for the main courses have become very high, but you also get to sit together with a small, fine circle of people (many from the media industry).

With friends - tip from friends - first visit in 08/2020, now in 06/2024 another visit with (other) friends. Unfortunately due to the rainy weather it was indoors this time. Outdoor also has something because of the great location in front of the Gereonskirche and the “free space”... Conclusion: I can “speak” for both visits…. Top service, attentive, friendly and professional..., very nice ambience and above all: innovative menu with regional character, very tasty and delicately seasoned dishes with good presentation on the plate. We, our friends, were extremely satisfied. The fact that there was a “Kölsch” as an aperitif is not the norm in the gastronomy of this standard. The wine list shows selected wines, including one or two “high-priced” wines. Bottle. Heiland - Espresso was excellent, I haven't had such a delicious espresso in a restaurant for a long time. The only (small) point of criticism on my part: the volume The selection of “background music” should be a little more subtle because good food also has a lot to do with good “accompanying conversations”… Gladly again, an interesting and good restaurant in a very pleasant atmosphere.

The restaurant “La Fonda” offers an exceptional culinary experience in a luxurious yet inviting ambience. The excellent service, exquisite cuisine and fine wine selection make it a perfect place for special occasions. I can fully recommend “La Fonda” and am already looking forward to my next visit.

First of all: the food was very tasty. Our waitress treated us in a very demeaning and unfriendly manner, which didn't leave us feeling good. For example, it didn't seem right that we didn't want to drink alcohol. When we politely asked which of the dishes on the menu could be made vegan, the waiter replied snidely that he could pick apart any dish until it was vegan. All in all, we are a bit surprised because this restaurant was advertised as vegan-friendly. Unfortunately there is only 1 vegan dish on the entire menu. All other dishes can be veganized by omitting ingredients accordingly. Unfortunately, this doesn't change the price.

High quality ingredients, but not too much choice for vegetarians. Service very good, but acoustically the room is really a challenge.

We came with a group for dinner and enjoyed our evening. The food was great, everyone loved the steak tartare. My lamb was great and everyone enjoyed their main courses. The wine selection was good, and their cocktails were very well made. We so much enjoyed their sea salt espresso martini that we ended up having a bunch of them. Delicious! The atmosphere was great and service attentive. Would certainly return.
