The food is always delicious. Tip 1: "European medium-spicy" is always plenty! The prices are fair. And the people there are very friendly. Tip 2: Come early, because when it's busy (around 6:30/7 p.m.), they can get a bit busy.

I visited with friends La Bamboo Sri Lankisches Restaurant in Stuttgart, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming ambiance that immediately makes you feel at home. The staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to explain the different Sri Lankan dishes on the menu, which was great for someone wanting to explore authentic flavors. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Chicken Kothu Roti. It was bursting with flavor and had the perfect balance of spices that truly showcased the richness of Sri Lankan cuisine. The dish was spicy – in the best way possible – with layers of chili, herbs, and curry flavors blending beautifully with the soft, shredded roti and tender chicken pieces. If you enjoy bold, authentic spice levels, this is a must-try! The portion size was generous, and the fresh ingredients made every bite memorable. Along with the Kothu, we also tried a few side dishes and drinks, all of which complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, La Bamboo is a gem in Stuttgart for anyone who loves authentic Sri Lankan food. The Chicken Kothu alone is worth the visit – but be prepared for some heat if you’re not used to spicy dishes! Highly recommended for spice lovers and foodies looking for something unique.

My goodness, the food was absolutely amazing 🥰. Even a friend's greedy daughter thought it was absolutely delicious, and all her special requests were catered for. The food was even made very mild for her daughter, which is really rare, and it still tasted incredibly good. We are absolutely thrilled. A definite insider tip 😍

We absolutely loved the food at this authentic Sri Lankan restaurant in Stuttgart, offering a true taste of Sri Lankan cuisine. We tried the Beef Kottu Roti and King Prawn Curry with a European spice level, and honestly, it was perfectly balanced. The spice level was just right, and we enjoyed it immensely. We also had the Chicken Samosa as an Appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were generous, and the ambiance was really pleasant. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

starter was delicious. but the quantity of Rindfleisch is too less to find. we took sri-lankisch mittelscharf for both the biriyanis. both were below average for three of us. being a person who can cook biriyanis… I felt their biriyani masalas was not cooked properly. we could feel the powdery taste. Basically this is definitely not the best or exceptional biriyani in Stuttgart. tiger prawn dish was good according to it‘s name. but the parathas were burnt and felt more like papadum. We also took mango lassi and cola. Cola comes in glasses and mango lassi was average.

I had La Bamboo as a caterer for my birthday. Food was very tasty. On-time delivery to the venue and pleasant coordination. Price-performance top. I would do it again!

We went to La Bamboo for the first time a few days ago. Both the service, the advice and the food were excellent. The restaurant was very well attended on a Thursday evening, which more than speaks for itself for a restaurant with a 23-year history in Stuttgart. Absolutely recommended!! We'd love to come back.

People-people! To be honest, I have no idea where the numerous 5 star reviews come from?! The service is relatively friendly and nice. But I come for the food and not primarily for the ancient creaky chairs or the service. Sorry, tasteless food! In my case the food tasted completely like ketchup. The whole thing is pretty bland food, even with fresh tomatoes, but probably Dutch produce, just bland. There were almost no spices - but there was a lot of salt. The red lentils we ordered were yellow instead of red, cooked almost to death and wonderfully oversalted. CONCLUSION: I don't want to spoil anyone's joy, but it was the last time we were there.

Here you can find very, very tasty Sri Lankan food in a variety of levels of spiciness. You will also be advised when choosing the level of spiciness, because not every meal tastes too spicy. My companion also found her vegetarian dish very tasty as it was perfectly seasoned. Overall a top restaurant. I really enjoy coming here and can only recommend it to anyone who likes Asian cuisine.

Food authentic and spiciness scale available and quite realistic. Service was very friendly, but not always there. Furnishings are more like a scooter furnishings market. Prices ok for the west of Stuttgart. Not a highlight for me personally, as rice, noodles and meat with hot sauce in various presentations are relatively easy to put on your plate at home. You can go there if you like that and don't want to cook quickly yourself.

Haben uns spontan für einen Besuch und uns dann für den Geheimtipp vom Chefkoch für zwei Personen entschieden (Beed Devil, Chicken-Cury, Dhal Curry, Gemüse-Curry mit Basmatireis mit Papadam). Wegen der gewünschten Schärfe wurden wird vom Service toll beraten. Alle Gerichte waren sehr lecker.

Nice little restaurant in Stuttgart. It's a rather unassuming place from the outside with a few tables on the sidewalk - but the food is great. You should just say very clearly whether you want spicy or European seasoning.😅. For me it was exactly right.

They don't play around with their spicy levels here! If you like spicy South Asian food, then this is the place for you! I had the tiger prawn curry, which I liked, but I think it is a good idea to get food to share because the quantity is abundant, and just keep in mind that their food IS spicy (even the European level had a kick to it and Sri Lankan medium spicy is when it gets 🔥😭). Customer service was excellent! They all spoke English, were friendly, and checked in on us often and even cracked a few jokes here and there. If you do take away leftover food, then they will charge you pfand for the takeout box, which you can get back if you return the takeaway container with the ticket they give to you. (I was charged 1€). Only cash and EC card are accepted here. They have plenty of seating available both indoors and outdoors, so reservations are not necessarily required. Overall, would visit again and recommend to others.

It was a very pleasant surprise. At first, I couldn't believe that this was a top-rated Indian-ish place in Stuttgart, but it turned out to be indeed very good. Chicken curry was very tender, not very spicy, and not as oily as a more typical Indian place. Will definitely be coming back.

I recently went to La Bamboo with some of my friends because I was craving for some real Sri Lankan food and I am really glad that I chose that place that night to have some dinner. I reserved that place beforehand because this place gets packed really fast. The place has a nice, cozy atmosphere and you can enjoy your evening in peace. Most importantly, the food really exceeded my expectations (coming from a Sri Lankan). I would highly reccommend the dhal curry (parippu) and the kandy chicken. There is a variety of Sri Lankan dishes you can choose from. It really felt like I am back in Sri Lanka! The service staff were very friendly and the staff always clarified and explained more about the dishes. Moreover, there are different spice levels you can choose from and they would gladly help you with it. So all in all, I would definitely recommend you this place if u want to try out a different cuisine and I would visit this place again in the near future.

There are many vegetarian and vegan options as well as different types of meats. They also offer different levels of spiciness. The flavor combinations are spectacular.

We started off a bit skeptical because there are very few authentic Ceylonish restaurants in Stuttgart. This one was a pleasant surprise. The ambience inside is really nice. The bathroom is clean. There is a wide variety of dishes available with vegan and vegetarian options. The best part is the levels of spiciness that are available; at all other places, even Indian spicy isn't spicy enough, but here, even European spicy is quite hot. The dishes are not exactly spicy, but really strong in terms of the masalas, and so they seem quite hot. But the portions are huge. I tried the Aloo Masala with Dosai, and wish the Dosai could have been served hot. Our server was spot on with her recommendations. Overall, quite a good place.

If there are more than 2 people, you should consider the "round trip" or the "insider tip from the chef": there is plenty, you get a good overview of the cooking culture and starters and desserts are included. Whether it's south-Indian or Sri Lankan cuisine, Medhu vadai / Ulundu vadai is always served with sambar and coconut chutney. It was served to us with a sweetchili sauce. I was quite disappointed.

Authentic Sri Lankan flavors in somewhat unusual formats - for example, masala dosa with the dosa and masala separately 😁 but everything tasted great, and on request, was made to the authentic level of spice.

Meine Freundin und ich waren Anfang November 2023 im "La Bamboo". Ausschlaggebend für unseren Besuch waren die vielen positiven Bewertungen im Netz, mit denen das Restaurant ja auch offensiv wirbt ("empfohlen von Tripadvisor"). Aufgrund dieser Bewertungen hatten wir natürlich eine gewisse Erwartungshaltung an eine kulinarische Offenbarung, die aber leider nicht bei uns uns eintrat. Insgesamt empfanden wir das Essen eher als enttäuschend. Das begann bereits bei dem Vorspeisenteller für 2 Personen, der uns wenig überzeugen konnte. Da fehlte jeder Pep ... Die Hauptgänge waren durchaus schmackhaft, aus unserer Sicht jedoch völlig überwürzt. Da wäre weniger sicherlich mehr gewesen. Meine Partnerin und ich sind schon häufiger in Südindien und Skri Lanka gewesen und mit der dortigen Küche gut vertraut. Wir haben dort irgendwo am Straßenrand allerdings deutlich leckerer gegessen als im "La Bamboo" in Stuttgart. Dem Essen fehlte durchweg eine gewisse Raffinesse - daher gibt's unter dem Strich auch nur eine mittelmäßige Bewertung.

The food was amazing, cooked to perfection and served with a family twist. It was my first attempt at tasting traditional Srilankan cuisine and I absolutely adored it. The entire experience was accompanied with a member of staff unveiling the secrecies of her traditional cuisine. Extremely friendly and eager to share her knowledge. Kudos for this. Oh, and also, you can book your table online. An efficient and easy way of making sure your table is waiting for you on your arrival.

Absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant. Wer indische Küche mag und die sri lankanische Küche noch nicht kennt - kommt hier sowas von auf deine Kosten. Die Küche hat sind traditionell eine sehr große vegane und vegetarische Vielfalt aber auch für Fleisch Liebhaber das Restaurant absolut zu empfehlen. Das Masala Dosai ist mein Lieblingsessen geworden. Die Chefin ist wundervoll und mega freundlich. Das Essen kommt immer schnell egal ob im Restaurant oder ob man bestellt und es ist immer heiß. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung!
